Napalm Specialist vs Modified Ammunition – 2% per condi and u will likely have an average of 5/6 and could get up to 11 which would be a 22% dmg buff. Though I don’t know if it applies to condis too.
Only applies to direct damage. Wouldn’t be super helpful for his spec.
Anyway, welcome back Joe. Tried a similar spec to that out, and the crazy condi damage got kind of addicting.
Thanks for the info guys, I also play a lot of WvW so any differences there would be helpful
ROCKET BOOTS
E: Major difference between necro/engineer condition application: Necro can apply a LOT of conditions VERY fast, but engis can reapply them more often, typically. Another big difference is that necros have the ability to transfer conditions, which is why condi necro hard counters condi engi (Automated response can help, but 30 point trait that all our condition removal is balanced around = nty)

I’ll still use P/S, probably. I use rifle every now and then but it’s always buggy for me.
Pretty interesting idea. While I won’t critique you build, (I hate rampagers QQ), here’s what I came up with messing around with gear with hybrid in mind.
Also I’d look into Celestial gear. Can get some pretty crazy stats when using a mightstacking build.
Now, if only we could do the same to backstab…
A thief disappearing is like, the biggest backstab telegraph in the world.
“Thief just Black powder + heartseeker’d… he’s probably coming to give me a hug and I shouldn’t react at all.”
Antitoxin obviously.
That said, different still has to be interesting. Would 100% range work, using only rifle & longbow? What about a shout/condition build? Or is the draw of warrior really that it’s strong enough for many to outweigh the boredom?
I personally can’t bring myself to play warrior for more than about an hour. Have heard the variety of weapons and the fact that pretty much every build is viable (not necessarily optimal) can make the class interesting long-term.
I have been trying to use spirits since release, its effective, but i found myself to be better in surviving and dealing damage with a BM build instead of Spirit build.
Also when duelling 1v1/1v2/1v3, i found that playing with BM to be better in surviving and oulasting your opponents.
Have encountered a few Spirit builds and duelled them in 1v1’s but i allways melted them. The stronger pet really makes the difference then.
This is all based on my roaming experience from WvW, my experience however does not need to be yours aswell
Keep that in mind.
1v1 BM should win.
XvX smallman Spirit offers more overall group support.
Ranger is the pet class not the bow class, a warrior is much better with LB than ranger.
What is a good spvp warrior LB build, I’d like to test this against my ranger build?
Hambow and GS/LB are both viable for warrior atm.
Eh, for Power builds, double-dodging then placing a Bomb with BK or putting up some CC can be that last spike of 3-4k you need to down someone.
But yeah, Evasive Powder Keg is a pretty trash trait. That said, I don’t run Cloaking Device and I Stealth using Jump Shot, Rocket Boots or HT Detonate to guarantee that I don’t do damage when trying to escape. I’d have used my dodges earlier during the duel so the point is moot.
I wouldn’t mind if it did something else entirely, for sure.
Perhaps this:
- Drop a blinding Flash Grenade when you dodge (This grenade deals no damage, and detonates 1 second after your dodge).
The Flash grenade is well cued visually, and a 1 second delay is plenty of reaction time for your opponents to counterplay and also try to dodge it. Now both you and your opponent are a dodge down – or, if they weren’t so clever, a weapon skill down.
Engineers should definitely become batman.
Harbinger,
eh, a bit off topic but …you have crafted 6 legendary weapons !!!
and sPvP rank 5x !!!
and solo arena top 100 !!! O_Oyou are truly hardcore hybrid PvE / sPvP player !!!
/salute
/respect !!!!eh by chance do you WvW as well? O_O
Harbinger is a respected wvw roamer from FC, too.
Nope.

Sometimes I get bored of watching my engi play so I actually touch a button or two. Usually ends up with me dead.
It’d be nice to be able to toggle it. Would definitely help uplevels and spvp mains, but wouldn’t hurt PvE/WvW players at all.
As John mentioned previously, we don’t plan on retroactively awarding rank points for previous wins. We will, however, be rebalancing rank tiers to make them more attainable.
That’s disappointing to hear.
But not surprising right?
Not surprising at all.
I would much prefer another source of condition removal over this trait.
AH is good for pug zergs and sometimes smallman play in wvw.
Healway is better for more organized zerging.
Cleric PU mesmer maybe? Would be fairly useless outside of the cannon room though.
MM Necros have no stunbreaks
Thank you for linking that irrelevant skill.
One of the most under utilized abilities in the game. Makes a huge difference on Khylo and Nifhel.
These guys are cool. Would definitely recommend them if you’re looking for good guild on a not-so-crowded tier.
A good amount of condition builds already invest in Precision.
I agree, though; the ones that aren’t forced to (Due to having silly high levels of condition pressure without the need for crit-procs) need to be looked at.
Play Hidden Cat, PU GS /s/t, travaler runes and longer blink. Only fear other PU mesemer curently. Still some skilled thiefs I need to stealth, drop out of combat and change the GS for a staff or s/s-Scepter/torch.
/Osicat
Do you get the feeling when you fight another PU mesmer that it comes down to timing of stealth? While I use PU and abuse it to the max at the same time I feel that it has really dumbed down 1 v 1 vs other mesmers.
Yeah, it really does come down to stealth timing. It was the same way back in the old Phant mesmer days. Phant v Phant came down to correct use of veil most of the time (From my experience, anyway).
I fought a really good ranger tonight, was reigning health like a feind and evading everywhere, was a really long fight but was able to drop me in the end most damage came from conditions and pets. Don’t know the build but was supper annoying to fight.
Was probably running RRR.
Condi war is extremely strong in pvp/small scale wvw atm.
Colors are randomized now, mainly due to complaints about getting map completion.
I think it rather shows how few people could fathom warrior being buffed even further.
+1
Iam not buffing warrior further because this weapon been used by almost zero warriors in powerbuilds.
if they do it just for the leap or immob in wvw.so this doesnt affect the warrior metabuilds.
maby with this people start to try this and we see less metabuilds.win win
Almost zero warriors, aside from every single wvw warrior.
Because it can’t
I think I lost the string of your thoughts
Not surprising, I did too.
Fair. Wouldn’t punish the way it’s currently used, and would give it more ways that it can be used.
Because it can’t
Archers in towers/keeps in wvw shoot me every
single
time
Definitely on the right track. Never have to PvE to level again, ty Anet
Can’t help with your LFG, but I’d suggest the PvP looking for team forum, and try to find a ‘casual’ pvp guild.
I sometimes get negative fps in Foefire. Like, I see frames that already passed.
It’s somewhat bothersome.
Try dueling a full dire mesmer running pu who has 2k condi damage pre-might.
I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun.
Dire is completely bad for any condi based mesmer. A full dire mesmer would have 10% critical chance at best, thus the clones will not proc bleeds and won’t put any pressure on you. The only thing which would damage you is the Torment (Scepter #2, easily dodgeable) and the Confusion (Scepter #3, easily dodgeable and interruptable). Maybe you would get hit by some Staff clones’ autos for a 1s burning, but that’s it. They of course will be tanky, but are not a threat at all.
Yes, it’s so very hard to proc clone deaths without precision.
/s
Debilitating is literally spammable.
Not full dire, almost though. Literally took like a minute to work out. I’m sure it’s very hard to play and extremely skillful and very balanced and fun to fight against.

For solo I would definitely recommend a Meditations build.
I believe one of the big medi burst builds atm is 10/5/30/5/20, picking up all the Meditation traits, (CD + Fury + Medis heal), +10% damage to burning targets, and then trait in virtues to for Virtue of resolve to remove 3 condis.
Judges Intervention + Smite Condi + Contemplation of Purity.
If you end up running with a group, swap your 10 point trait in virtues for Consecrations cooldown and swap CoP for Purging flames. Less self cleanse, but much more group cleanse.
Gear is really up to you, but I’d shoot for around 3.2-3.4k power, 70+% crit damage, 33% crit chance pre fury, and 2.8k armor (more if you want to be able to hold 1v2 for a bit, probably around 3k). Personally I’m not big on vit, but if you want some, I’d recommend using either Celestial or Valk pieces to get it.
Actually the VoJ blind + Sword Blind + Focus bouncing blind are gonna save his rear far more than a 200 armor increase. Throw some Energy runes in there for color + perma vigor and voila
True, but the build I explained already has perma vigor + the blinds. Playing with perma vigor and energy sigils is so trolololol though, and is a really good idea. I do it on engi when playing glassier builds.
For solo I would definitely recommend a Meditations build.

Hey Winter how about you buy a dagger instead? Daggers are cool, no need to play with a focus.
Pls use a dagger Winter
how do you deal enough damage to kill anything that isn’t full glass?
I think engi is the least straightforward class in the game.
All other classes can fill multiple roles, but with engi, you can fill that same role using quite a few different builds and playstyles.
Questions about the way engi works and its playstyles are really open ended.
I dueled Doiid (a mesmer from Red Guard) a couple days ago at the windmill. He was using a PU hybrid. He had nearly 500 condi damage, and since he had many zerker pieces his vitality/toughness were not so high. The fights were fun and short and while it indeed felt powerful, his build was BALANCED. There were weaknesses which could be used to kill him (as I did after a couple fights).
My suggestion regarding this matter is this one though:
Make it so that the boons you get while in stealth will proc only if you haven’t already one of those. This way you couldnt stack “perma” Protection or Regeneration.
A lot of other traits already use this format (such as Shadow Protector, one of the Thief’s Shadow Arts traits), so it shouldn’t be hard to implement.
Try dueling a full dire mesmer running pu who has 2k condi damage pre-might.
I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun.
You can always change your keybinds.
Mesmer/Thief is probably one of the stronger duos to fight, by default.
Weee, I’m not the only one who uses Rabid/Apoth accessories.
Was more impressed with your power rifle gameplay, but still a nice watch.
Severe lack of power Necro in “S Tier” makes me think some people haven’t played tpvp since release.
nerf lich form orz
Psh.
Koi Cakes.

OT: That food should be nerfed hard. I like my 70% condition duration, but nobody should be able to get it this easily.
Remove aoe cap in PvP.
This. This is what we need.
lol acting like 2.8k is low
Does Energy Conversion Matrix (Deal extra damage for each boon on you) affect condi damage?
No, just power.
Thats a low hit, that thief should l2p
I don’t really care about the meta. I care about making a build that I think is fun and cool that feels good when I play it that doesn’t completely and utterly suck (I’m just fine with being “mediocre”, whatever that means). I personally dislike feeling really glassy. Even if I do just fine with dodging and support, I feel pressured, because I know how easily I can go down if kitten hits the fan. Because of that, glassy builds just aren’t that fun for me, so I don’t usually play them.
In response to your comment about the kits… I’m not sure I understand. I don’t see how using a kit inherently makes your build better, even if your build gets nothing from kits via traits. Is their damage that OP?
Nah what I mean is, as say, a guardian, they have a weapon swap. So they can use the high damage skills from both weapons to achieve higher DPS. Nades/Bombs damage, when compared to Pistol damage, is a ton higher. Tbh you could probably do something like this:
Bomb autoattack, big ol bomb, Acid bomb, and rifle skills for damage. Fire/smoke/glue bomb for vuln stacking. Third utility was put randomly because I don’t really know what else you want.
“okay” (Or, as you said, Mediocre) damage, fairly tanky, and provides support through healing turret and elixir gun. I put the trinkets in as ascended but they can be found in exotic versions, too.
(edited by K U T M.4539)
Keep that in mind.
