Wouldn’t it be cool if we had an Everlasting “Tonic” which makes us barf on the ground, like when we eat too much Zhaittaffy?
It’s not a l2p issue in PvE. Ranger is the only class which has to keep their autoattack disabled and attack in very slowly timed increments, making the damage a lot worse than any other profession.
Furthermore, what the heck is so gamebreaking about being able to cancel the attack to dodge, that you insist we should just disable autoattack instead? Aren’t you missing the point? This is about ANET stating whether or not they have plans to change it, not some player looking for advice. What’s there not to understand?
This is the one opportunity we have for ANET to address this, and people are messing this up by answering a COMPLETELY offtopic question and calling it a “l2p” issue. Great job, Ranger forum! <.<

Take off auto-attack and that should fix the problem.
Nice band-aid. Doesn’t fix the overall problem though.
How to be a good Elementalist:
Use Focus on first few mobs with Swirling Clouds and interrupt from Comet.
During cooldown if out of combat, switch to Staff if you can share auras and use Magnetic Aura on allies.
For Utility, I would recommend Ice Bow for “Deep Freeze” to keep them stunned.
So much could be done to mitigate knockback and damage. Much better than 1-spam.

Here’s your opportunity for ANET to address 1h Sword!
Battosai will be questioning ANET during State of the Game. He will be taking questions from the Ranger forum.
If you want to see ANET address dodge on 1h Sword, show your support in this thread!

Hello Battosai. Thank you very much for appealing to the Ranger forum, I will make sure to check out SoTG!
My question:
1h Sword! Will we ever see a “fix” to 1h sword dodging?
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
Do Warriors even need the absurdly high crit rate? Maybe speccing for toughness with Knights armor would be a good idea?
So are gadgets officially “fixed”? A few pathes ago people were asking why they even exist, asking them to work like Signets. Now Gadgets are good?
Imbagon says hi.
Scythegon says hi.
Daggergon with death blossom says hi.
Stunning Strike Daze-spam paragon says hi.
As a Paragon main, I’m confused! However, I imagine what you’re really trying to say is a class which starts underpowered, then slowly creeps into overpowered territory. In GW1 those were the Ritualist and Paragons, and in GW2 so far it seems to be the Engineer.

Ok so I went and tested it myself. The KR for TK does indeed give the same benefit. So to conclude it is indeed the superspeed that causes this event. and now I will be running KR in my support build.
Turrets finally have a use?!?!
I hope by raids they don’t mean 40-man instances.
I would be okay with 12-man instances however. Something like Urgoz from GW1. Maybe even 16-man instances like Vizunah Square!
As for housing, I can’t imagine how it’ll work. It will likely be placed inside the Home Instance, but what would be the point inside an instance if other players cannot see it? I guess it’s for personal an RP-purposes, but I don’t see the point.

It’s possible this may be a bug in PvE. If we ask nicely, I’m sure ANET will consider fixing our build!
This is what I’ve been trying to tell people for awhile.
1hSword+Shortbow= 25 stacks of Might on pets.
Now if only they had AoE.. I’m having a hard time justifying anything other than Reef Drake. In PvE situations, I’d imagine opening with Torch for extra might procs and the Fire Field might from your Drake’s blast finisher.
Using Fortifying Bond and Concentration Training would be very sexy with combo fields. A single blast finisher would give my Reef Drake 6 might, and I imagine Sigil of Strength would also be more useful on a pet than a human because the might they receive extends to 15 when using Concentration Training.
You see with pets.. they have this nack to not want to stay alive in boss fights..
No offense, but this is a l2p issue. Very rarely does my pet die in FoTM.
The only boss fight in the game my pets die is Subject Alpha, which is a very exceptional boss fight in the first place you’d rather the pet dead.
Tip: Use the ground target of Jump Shot to measure the radius of distances.
Plus you get easy access to fire field for blasting.
Fire Bomb. It’s on a shorter cooldown too!
diff players play differently. and i agree tht it isnt nice kicking other players.
It’s also not nice to completely ignore teams.
The elementalist in question kept pulling the Raving Asura boss when we wanted to use the kiting strategy, and kept activating Old Tom.
If that isn’t worthy of a kick, I don’t know what is. He was definitely a liability.
Bombs and Tool Kit (“Wrench” Kit) for Melee, Grenade Kit and Rifle for range.
Elixir Gun and Pistol are too niche to use while leveling, and Flamethrower is just plain garbage.
A lot of things on Engineer don’t shine until level 80, keep in mind.
Please remind all people they have a /focus to use in Harpy fractal.

Most groups don’t need more than one ranger. It doesn’t mean they’re elitist.
Also, the idea that you get OHKOed because of Zerker gear is just an urban legend. Most “aoe” attacks that would OHKO a zerker (such as Flame Shaman’s melee attack) would OHKO someone in Knight’s Gear as well. Someone in PVT might survive, but I don’t know anyone stupid enough to stand in a red circle because they think they could mitigate it.
I was considering Rampager’s with Rune of the Rangerx5+1 ruby orb.
The advantage here is a higher critical % than a full zerker set at the cost of slightly less damage. In theory this should be able to free up builds without being forced to spec in Arms for precision, though I really don’t know.
Keep in mind I’m not changing my Zerker accessories either, so I don’t fear losing too much damage. So what do you think of Rampager’s armor as an alternative to Zerker armor? Or should I go Knight’s armor?
ANET probably wants to balance their current gamemode before they create another one.
To their credit, I think they made the right decision. If they’re gonna do GvG, they need to do it right, and the “normal” PvP at the moment still needs more polish first.
The same thing GW1 is about – Dressup!
Earn enough gold to dressup your toon however you want, then move onto the next. That is what GW as a whole is about.
For PvE. Preferably a “general” PvE set usable in dungeons and open world alike.
So I want to craft another armor set to hybrid with Berserker accessories, but I have no need to craft another set of Berserker armor either.
What other stat combination would you recommend to hybrid with Zerk accessories?
OP apparently thinks eles can weapon swap in combat…
Or swap out of combat…
The worst players are the ones kicking other players from groups without first explaining to them what they could do different to benefit the team.
And if they refuse or ignore? Or if they outright don’t have a focus by level 30 FoTM?
Many PuGs are apparently mute.

Honestly, I don’t see what’s so bad about the Longbow.
You get an AoE cripple, a Knockback, great vulnerability, and decent damage allowing the Ranger to stay out of danger zones.
The Shortbow on the other hand would be useless even if it wasn’t changed. With Longbow buffed, it doesn’t seem like Shortbow autoattack damage is superior anymore, and the 2-5 attacks aren’t necessarily that useful.
If not DPS, maybe Shortbow is balanced around the trait which gives your pets Might due to its speed?
Guardian elites are far from useless. Engineer on the other hand…
Seemingly every time I invite an Elementalist to a group, they always just stand there spamming Fire #1 on Staff, even on bosses. No conjure, no buffs, just spamming Fire #1 on staff.
Even when I do Harpy fractal, they just stand there using Fire Staff autoattack instead of switching to Scepter/Focus and making life easier for the entire freaking team.
Elementalist has what, only four weapons? Would it kill someone on level 30 FoTM to have those four weapons, instead of just standing there spamming Staff Autoattack?
Y U no block projectiles!? Y U no protection!? Y U not use melee on boss we need melee!? Y U switch to D/D on boss we need ranged? No Ice Bow for the Snowblind Elemental!?
In all seriousness, what is with all the bad Elementalists? I’ve never met a decent one. Enlighten me. Is there something I’m not understanding about the greatness of their staff autoattack? Or are they just bad and deserve to be kicked from level 30 FoTM?
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
I don’t play Ranger much, but when I do, I wonder how your pets NOT stay alive!?
With a pet swap every 15 seconds and a decent heal, I’ve never faced a situation in FoTM where I cannot keep my pet alive.
In particular, Ranger excels at Grawl fractal. Not only can the Ranger solo his shield with Entangle, but it’s the most pet-friendly boss fight in the game because the boss rarely ever attacks Melee pets without his “flip” attack (which gives you more than enough time to call back your Jaguar.)
This really seems like a l2p issue.
Hey, anyone know the name of the theme for Legendary Flame Shaman in FoTM? Thanks!
The entire point of the EB JP is to camp and troll people.
The “New” Warrior 1h Sword has officially become my favorite weapon in the game.
It’s a lot like pre-nerf axe in that the autoattack deals very consistent damage, but the leap and immobilize are incredibly useful, and Final Thrust is a multi-target Eviscerate!
hopefully they can add some more old school GW1 Sets
i want my old Rangers Druid set
Charr Hide Armor would have some interesting implications if added to the game.
It’s alright because it’s Flame Legion hide!
GW1 had a “Paragon” who quite literally buffed his allies by shouting.
Guardian retains the role, but with melee instead of range, and less shouting.
Patience, young padawon. It will be here soon!

Method 1: Stack near Grast
Method 2; Learn 2 Play and interrupt his attack by chipping away his defiant. Too bad most PUGs are stubborn as mules, and refuse to co-operate.
I like how people bash rangers without even knowing their roles. I also find it funny WvW Vets in full PVT armor are trying to lecture people who do PvE dungeons.
PVT armor is largely useless in PvE because it doesn’t proc critical hits. This means less trait and sigil procs, which are important on a class like Guardian.
As for Rangers, they are the only ones who can immobilize and solo the Legendary Flame Shaman during his Bubble phase, using Entangle.

I actually love the June balance patch for everything but Ranger.
Just a theory here. The bag of money we’re given at the end of FoTM is probably bugged.
After playing the living story instances, I discovered bags gave various set amounts of gold, in contrast with FoTM bags which gave a random amount between 2-4s.
This is notable because it proves that the bags of money are capable of giving out high amounts of gold, though we’re only rewarded with a measly 3s after a 2 hour level 28 run.
Looking at other dungeons which take only 30 minutes to clear, I realized it’s weird the “elite” Dungeon of GW2 (FoTM) does not give a decent amount of Silver as do most dungeons.
Why give the bag at all? It’s only 3s, and I really don’t think players care about it at all after a long 2 hour run. But what if the bags were supposed to scale with level?
It’s just a theory, but I think the bags are bugged. What ANET probably intended is to have some sort of money reward which scales with level.
It’s just a theory. What do you think? (FoTM gold rewards scaling.)
The pre-events simply aren’t fun or rewarding.
Fighting Champion Karka for 10 minutes straight at Camp Karka is boring as hell. Not to mention unrewarding.
Does my character look like Link? Be honest.
Any ideas how to improve the look? A GW2-equivalant of the Hylian shield?
Or is this impossible to do on a Heavy?
In all seriousness, it could be a dragon minion based on a Wyvern (hands on its wings instead of arms.)
It kinda looks like if Claw of Jormag mutated into a chicken.
All we know is it is a recent addition to the .dat file.
I hope ANET considers keeping this though. This doesn’t seem too broken, but it’s just plain awesome,g iving the engineer a completely new role!
(Only the Engineer is capable of flight!)
This is so going to be nerfed!
I would love if they just removed our elites and gave us a fourth utility slot.
I really like using 1H sword. But is it worth using in a power build yet? The full Final Thrust damage doesn’t seem any more than just using Volley + Kill Shot on my rifle, so what purpose should I use sword for?
