So a Dragon Wing Cover just dropped for me in Cursed Shore.
What’s the speculation regarding this item? Would it be better to sell before or after the event?
None of you played Guild Wars 1 did you. The AI in GW1 was amazing. Monsters fought as coordinated groups that used their abilities cooperatively. They actively avoided AOE effects and where challenging for most players. Players would form group comps with skill sets specifically designed to counter the mobs because they where so effective at killing players.
You’re wearing Nostalgia Goggles™.
Necromancers and anyone with SY could steamroll anything.
I prefer Marjory.
Kasmeer is too much of a barbie-doll for my tastes.
This is a very artistic and original part of GW2. Who cares if it’s not common in fantasy MMOs? That’s what ORIGINALITY and CREATIVITY means that the common MMOs are missing.
I agree. Screw the higher-ups and their over-bloated marketing department.
Artistic freedom and creativity will always be better than “what’s trending”. This is why Majora’s Mask is loved by so many people, because the writers challenged even Mr. Miyamoto himself.
For anyone who doesn’t know, the story behind Majora’s Mask was the developers of “Ura Zelda” completely dropping the project to do their own thing. In exchange to stay out of their way, Shigeru Miyamoto challenged Eiji Anouma and his team to create a new Zelda in only one year.
From the success of Majora’s Mask, we see how great artistic freedom can be!

I like how people continue to complain about elitists, when the OP most likely used CTRL to ping his equipment rather than SHIFT.
I would’ve kicked also. I don’t like when people spam up my chat.
The June team took some chances with the noir feel, writing style, and design and art choices. .
They really need to let your team take more chances. A little creative freedom never hurts a game!
Exactly, “if you can stay alive”. That is the main thing here.
What makes people so sure that they will be able to stay alive long enough in zerker gear to kill the bosses?
This isn’t GW1, where you stand still and soak up damage.
Imagine this in GW2:

I was hoping to get the shield, personally.
And that rapier…. How can ANET make such baddass skins, yet make them unobtainable?
According to Dulfy, she has not seen them yet.
That makes me a sad kitten! :’(
I’m mostly curious about the balance update. I wonder if the leaked notes are true?
It recently occurred to me that there is a bit of lore behind weapons such as Twilight, Predator, Frostfang, and the rest.
To forge all the legendary weapons you must infuse your precursor with Icy Runestones. To obtain these Icy Runestones, you must confront an ex-Svanir who befriends the Pact after witnessing them defeat the Claw of Jormag.
His dialogue states that he will help the pact by using Jormag’s power against him, selling the recipe to Corrupted Weapons and Icy Runestones.
The question here is what is an Icy Runestone? And why should it specifically be affiliated with the Ice-element? Unlike Globs of Ectoplasm and Obsidian Shards which are used to forge weapons and armor many times throughout the GW universe, Icy Runestones are an ingredient exclusive only to the legendary weapons of GW2. This distinction makes it very clear Icy Runestones are a very specific ingredient.
I’ve come to the conclusion that Legendary Weapons are created with the power of Jormag, ironically enough to slay him.
What do you think?
Chances are it’s Yivo from Futurama. Expect to see a bunch of Tentacles coming out of that rift soon.
Jormag corrupts the mind with lust for power. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if it involved another kind of lust considering the Sons of Svanir are a band of chauvinists.
I think Jormag turns the women into sex slaves.
“ctrl-click” there’s your problem. You should shift-click instead.

I feel bad for the armor designers. They’ve been working on this armor for MONTHS (according to the .dat files), and people are bashing it like crazy! :’(
The armorsets aren’t bad either. In fact, they’re rather amazing! But it’s the small things which ruin it. (ANOTHER poofy trenchcoat…)
But to obtain 60 SPs in FoTM costs 2100 tokens. Which is rather expensive, and better used for a backpiece on alts.
What’s the best way to farm skill points? I only have about 60 left for my legendary.
I’ve tried CoF Speedfarming, but the DR kicks in and the experience becomes terrible. Meanwhile, WvW seems very unreliable.
Any tips? Thanks!
We pay a flat 1g each to buy our Icy Runestones, but why is it when we merch them they sell for less than 1g? It’s just weird and kinda bad from a game design perspective not to give players a proper “refund” if they decide not to go for a legendary. 100 runestones sell for only 12g? Why not 100g?
Anyways, what’s up with that? Just wondering.
I know it’s not high priority, but something like this would be a decent change if ever the opportunity.
Really, really praying they don’t nerf my Berserker’s stance. I use it to spam burst skills and give myself extra Vigor…
I will be VERY disappointed if they nerf my beloved Berserker’s Stance…
Are you using gear you’re level? If you’re level 35, you should use level 35 gear. Otherwise you get upscaled very poorly.
One concern is if they add better farming events to Southsun, it will take away from Cursed Shore and Orr will become “redead” again.
To solve this problem, we need an Underflow server.
I wouldn’t get my hopes up for any Sea of Sorrows-related expansion until we see more of the Tengu first, as their city is very close to the Sea of Sorrows.
I would say Warrior personally, COF1 no problem…
Kill stuff really fast across the whole of PvE…
Thread is about open-world PvE and events.
Nevermind. Didn’t need the kit for this part. Thanks!
To clarify, this is under the context of full “explorer’s” gear (Magic Find, Precision, Power).
Both Necromancer and Engineer seem good, but I’m really torn apart…. Necromancer has marks on land, whereas Engineer has Flamethrower..
So I recently got a Yakkington’s Ring, and I’m not sure who to give it to.
What is the best class for farming events and underwater? I’m torn apart between Necromancer and Engineer, since both are amazing at tagging and underwater AoE.
wow so u think the patch is amazing because you can use dat long cd elite to make up for pet dps nerf or give longer might to ~half your dmg potential… HAHAHAHA
Thank you for missing the point completely. Unless you play ranger, you shouldn’t try to correct others.
So after I did the instance where I interrogate people, I tossed my investigation kit. Do I need it to trace the next two suspects? How do I get another one?
Medium armor is too “poofy” on males. There are always stretching issues, clipping, or just plain ugly armor!
The fact most are trenchcoats does not make it any easier on us.
The MMO Genre is the worst monopolized market in the gaming world. Developers purposely make their games with bad design so that you “patch” its flaws with the cash shop.
Unfortunately GW2 is not immune to the “patch” cash shop (as we’re forced to use transmutation stones), but it is miles better than a majority of MMOs on the market. Which just goes to show how poor the genre is.
I wouldn’t care because who would use Soldier’s stats, even if it is ascended?
IT’S THE MURSAAT, AND THEY LAUGHED AT MY THEORIES!
“I’m not saying it’s Mursaat, but…”
That is actually very creepy!
It’s a drone! We’re being monitored!
Nobama confirmed for Tyria!
The monocle (and jetpack) aren’t bad because you can achieve them through ingame goals and sell them on the trade post.
The fact you can sell them makes them miles better than account bound lockboxes.
Riot Alice was right!
flies away with jetpack
I see what you did thar!
I still can’t see Rangers becoming a “speedclear” class, but this does make them more viable as a whole.
I re-read the patch notes. Before we all start QQing, check out:
Companion’s Might: This trait now grants 5 seconds of might to your pet, up from 1 second.
If it has no cooldown, this will be overpowered as heck!
Pet damage vastly increased in the longrun!
According to the “leaked” Ranger changes on reddit: http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1gr1nh/skill_traits_patch_notesleakedunconfirmed/
Companion’s Might – Critical hits grant might to your pets. (1 second duration)
“Leaked” change:
Companion’s Might: This trait now grants 5 seconds of might to your pet, up from 1 second.
Use with:
Concentration Training : Boons applied by your pets last longer. (50%)
This means with skills like Splitblade on the axe MH, we are bursting more than 5 stacks of might on a pet for quite a decent duration!
With axe OH, over the course of 5 seconds, you apply 12 stacks of might to your pet (+ vulnerability.) Provided you can correctly pull foes in a dungeon using the new Path of Scars change, then hitting merely 2 foes will give your pet 24 might! O_O
The “leaked” changes seem very bad at first sight, but I can see them being amazing in the longrun!
(edited by Kain Francois.4328)
Imagine Path of Scars in WvW. It could really mess up a zerg! (Piercing skills have no target limit, unlike Mesmer pull maxed at 5.)
That said, I am still waiting for them to fix 1h sword…
The “leaked patch notes” are really disappointing with Ranger.
I like the Engineer changes, but the ranger…
One of the supposed changes shows:
Canine: Bite: Reduced damage by 27%.
This would be silly because Canine bite’s power is only 122. Reducing it any more would make it only have a power of 89, at which point what the hell is the point of using a dog? Its autoattack never dealt much damage in the first place, so they nerf an already underpowered skill?
I’m going to hope these patch notes aren’t true because some of the changes are very nonsensical, or just badly worded. For example:
Swirling strike: .6 to .8
What the heck does that even mean?
Signets of Power: This 5 stacks of might that this trait grants has been increased to 10 seconds.
That seems inauthentic for patch notes ^^

I’m completely fine with the skins. I kinda wish the medium chestpiece wasn’t another trenchcoat, or that it was at least more “tight”. But besides that, I’m one of the few people who absolutely LOVE the skins!
Try using individual pieces rather than the whole set. Namely, the medium headpiece and shoulders look lovely! And I will be doing something for sure with the light armor!
Really great job, whoever designed the skins. Kudos, ANET!
Need underflow servers.
I don’t mind the story is human-centric at the moment because previous stories were so Charr and Norn-filled, it made me cough up a hairball. Meanwhile Asura dominate virtually every other event out there (Halloween, Wintersday, Lost Shores, etc…)
I wouldn’t mind a future living story dealing more with Sylvari though. They were built up so much per-release, and then in the personal story they were used as bland, disposable tools to fight Risen. And Trahearne.
I don’t really count Canach to represent Sylvari since he is just a crazy hipster.
Face it… We Sylvari really need more love at the moment!
I wish the gun barrel was slightly shorter. Otherwise, everything looks amazing!
That rapier better not be locked behind RNG crates… Sharpens my Volcanus
Stupid move.
Please stop spoiling your own content. Hiding something in the .dat is one thing, posting it on facebook is another…
Halloween had the best system in my opinion. Chance at a skin, but could be bought on tradepost. This gave people a greater incentive to buy the chests because they could actually make an ingame profit doing so.
