Quite the contrary, 1v1 dueling is much more fun than team fights. I feel 1v1 duels in GW2 are greatly a part of the game.
What does Sword 1h do? Is it ever justified?
Orr is kinda over-nerfed in general, and that made it not profitable enough to go to.
Plinx was nerfed, spiders don’t give loot, scaling makes it a LOT harder with less mobs to kill in general, and now there’s rumors tunnel farm was nerfed.
Please fix this. Bring back the events and loot!
I’m more looking forward to Canthan Farmers wearing a Claw of Torment hat. That was hilarious in GW1!
From first hand experience, it’s not THAT bad once you get into cursed shore and farm spiders.
The issue at hand is everyone is in Southsun Cove.
This sounds like a silly premise.
It’s like somebody protesting a long-standing holiday because it offends their personal beliefs.
Actually, it’s godkitten brilliant!
I love the idea of having a controversial festival in-universe. We could fight rioters all while trying to relive the events of Nightfall! (Someone found the Grasp of Insanity mask in the dat.)
It’s also great exposition into the “good” dragons of Tyria, and what became of them.
Funny how that voice is more interesting than Trahearne.
Please make sure your gear is up to level, and please ping them when the party leader asks you to.
Players are not kicking you merely because you’re low level. But rather, they are kicking you because you refuse to co-operate, or refuse to spend just a little silver to get proper gear.
Because of how equipment works in Guild Wars 2, you get scaled very badly as you level up. A level 40 with level 30 equipment will take MUCH more damage than a level 35 with level 35 equipment. Likewise, this same rule applies to a level 80 wearing level 50 gear. At the same time, you also deal much LESS damage, especially if you neglect trinkets!
ANET made Ascalon Catacombs level 35 for a reason! You are able to get a FULL Green set of “Strong” Armor and Trinkets at that level!
It does not matter whatsoever that “80s die and I don’t” (and chances are, the level 80 was not wearing level 80 gear either.) There is still no reason to take you over someone with properly leveled gear.
In short, please get yourself a full set of level 35 gear before doing Ascalon Catacombs Explorable. Most items cost only 2s, and you should be able to afford it by now at that level. Otherwise you’re just being a liability to the team.
Guild Puzzles are currently the closest things to raids. That said, I’m somewhat disappointed at their lack of combat.
I’m wondering if anyone else is getting the same, or better droprates from farming armored scales in Southsun?
After reading through the .dat info, it revealed there will be pinatas in the upcoming Dragon Bash update.
Just a hunch here, but considering most the playerbase look at Shatterer, Tequatl, and Claw of Jormag as big Dragon Pinatas we bash on for loot, is it possible that inspired ANET to parody the world bosses?
The southsun cove living story takes place after the personal story. Zhaitan is already dead.
Also, Reef Drakes.
Maybe it’s just me, or are rares and t6 mats dropping less now? Since a few days ago.
Within 1 hour I use to make consistently around 25 Armor Scales an hour, along with 2-5 Southsun Supply Crates. Now I only get 4 Armor Scales, and less drops in general.
If this is DR, something must be very messed up because I’ve switched characters, spent time in other zones, changes the enemies I fight (from sharks, tunas, and jellyfish to barracudas, sea turtles, and sea scorpions), and yet, the droprate is still horrible!
What’s up? Anyone else notice this? Is it just me, or did something with droprates or DR get messed up?
I honestly would rather see the ritualist adsorbed into the engineer class. Read: Improved the engineer.
We need better support turrets, as the Healing Turret change is an amazing start. Perhaps a turret which prevents us from taking more than 10% of our max HP in a single hit? (A throwback to GW1…)
We also need better offensive turrets, which damage worth taking. And reworked weapon spells! Give us back Splinter Weapon in the form of gadgets!
From the .dat, SUPER SPOILERS:
The Captain's Council is preparing for the Dragon festival, a lot of people dislike it. "Dragons killed my brother! No more dragon festival until there are no more dragons!" - "My kids want their festival and so do I!" - "Honor the fallen heroes, NO dragon festival!" - "Hooray for the dragon festival!"
From the GW2 .dat file:
109636_0740 Each festive dragon coffer commonly contains candy, tonics, or fireworks. It may also rarely contain a Mini Holo Undead Dragon Knight, recipes, or a Dragon’s Jade Weapon Skin Ticket.
Very disappointed we’re getting another set of RNG boxes. At least make them tradeable, like Halloween. Thanks.
However, I’m genuinely curious about the recipes too.
Ritualist is essentially the Engineer. For example, DwG/“Glaive” from GW1 is essentially the GW2 bomb kit.
Whereas spirits are what the turrets are trying to be, but fail because GW2 lacks body blocking and agro mechanics of Gw1, nor’ does the damage of GW2 turrets compete with GW1 spirits.
If the player could summon more than 3 turrets, and the turrets did triple their current damage, we might see turrets being used, without dying in 1 hit, then we might see GW2 turrets being used. Until then, they are a joke compared to GW1 spirits.
Eh, i don’t know about you but i only knocked on the door. The separatist attacked first. I am just defending myself.
This.
I mean, seriously. They see an innocent Sylvari Warrior walking by, just minding his own business, and they attack him? Seriously!? I could understand a Charr or Asura, but a SYLVARI!? Why!? What the hell do they have against Sylvari!? Why!? Why!? WHY!?
We made some changes in the build today, though it looks like we may have missed release notes for the wraiths. The champion wraiths should now lose 2 stacks of defiance each tick of their life drain, and they won’t channel it as long. The Lyssa event was also scaling the veterans and champions more than intended, which should be resolved now (this was in the release notes). The creatures in that event were getting scaled up by both the old and new event scaling methods, so they were doing significantly more damage, and took far longer to kill than intended.
Will test this out and provide feedback on the Wraiths as soon as I get the time. Though this is quite difficult, considering CS is now desolate with everyone in Southsun.
Please keep it big! I like having a big, adorable kitty to snuggle with! <3
It reminds me of my cat, Friday. Oh god, I miss her! :’(
Guardian has a sword? What’s it do?
I’m going for Predator.
Finished t6 mats, clovers, and got my precursor. Now I’m doing Onyx Lodestones. I got 20/1000 onyx lodes.
Doing world completion and stuff last.
I hope Kakra Queen has body parts similar to the sclerite stuff. It’d also be cool the adds in events actually dropped loot (unlike the change to spiders in Orr)
The purple aura looks great on mesmers.
Too bad Quip itself is a stupid gun. Who the hell wants a clown gun which shoots CONFETTI for 1000 gold!? Give me a James Bond-style PPK with silencer sound effects!
I wouldn’t mind Griffons and Raptors either!
It’s rare that I see a ranger with anything but a bow. Out of all the rangers I’ve partied with in dungeons I’ve seen maybe 2 use something else. You are in the one percent. Which brings up the topic point.
Most dungeon rangers feel really entitled, and just 1-spam with shortbow.
Personally I swap between Greatsword and Axe/? depending on the situation. I’m a big fan of Torch fire fields, and the perma-weakness on foes.
This boss is not hard, its extremely easy. Use your reflection and block skills and move all the time. A mesmer, ele or guard can help in lvl40+, but dont needed.
Question.
What if you’re a warrior, and you don’t have reflect or block skills?
Change to another class. ANET designed GW2 to let us swap to alts mid-dungeon, as long as you are not the instance creator.
Have a properly geared 80 of every class to accommodate every situation in the game.

1500 Range auto attack would be extreme. Engineer is not supposed to be push button and win. The devs took out the auto attack so they wouldn’t nerf the damage even more. If somebody loves grenades so much they should adapt. Start by binding another key in stead of “1”.
Mashing any button for 2 hours straight will break your keyboard and finger. This is a quality of life improvement.
That said, why would 1500 range be extreme? Rangers have it, and grenades are inaccurate as it is (probably more so with autoattack…)
Huh? I feel bad for ya. Clovers were the much easiest part for me. Right now I’m getting TOO MANY clovers because I reuse the recipe for t6 mats.
Hello Colin. Thank you for being so open in this thread.
People who have busy work weeks but grind on weekends will greatly appreciate the change to Laurels!
Happy they are gone. It is just too kitten cheesy to immerse.
Now if only they could silence For Great Justice…
- Pistol buff (Explosive Shot).
- Grenade autoattack.
- Aim rifle like a Warrior.
I would nerf the attack where you take aoe damage every second at your location (can it even be dodged?) otherwise I think the fight is okay. It’s really a l2p issue.
I want more GW1 pets. Like the Phoenix.
And also… A RACING BEETLE! Seriously! Where are the roller beetles in GW2!? They were sooo iconic in GW1, I miss them!

Screenshot should be self explanatory.
Using Heavy HoTW on a Male Warrior, shooting the rifle causes it to clip.
I’ve only noticed it recently. Has it always been this way, or was it since last update? Please let me know if this is new or not. Thanks!
I’m kinda glad this was nerfed. I really want there to be cool farms, but not at the expense of exploiting.
The statue of Dwayna hit me for 6,000 damage three times in a row, then 18,000 damage, all in the space of a few seconds.
That’s crazy
Was it her blue firestorm attack by any chance? I have no trouble dodging it.
Dwayna is actually too easy in my opinion.
I really hope ANET does consider more farms. Their vision in the manifesto was something to appeal to everyone, but right now they’re not really appealing much to hardcore group and solo farmers.
If we had an extra slot for utility skills rather than an elite, that would be great. Especially since we waste so many utility slots equipping weapon kits.
Pistol MH really is terrible though. Even if the damage were to be doubled, its damage would still be pitiful.
It makes me unable to enjoy /shield!
I was doing TA F/F a few mins ago, and the champion before the portals part dropped cof tokens from its bag.
Not sure what other details to provide, but good luck!
Avoiding a thief is pretty silly considering they are quite good at evading damage, stealth, and a great projectile blocker. Their damage aint too shabby either, second only to warrior!
Some positive feedback for once:
Balthazar seems fine. Yes, it’s very difficult to open, and it requires co-ordination, but that’s what I really like about it.
You need dedicated parties who will co-ordinate ontop of Risen Noble spawns. Warriors with Earthshaker, Engineers with Smoke Bomb, etc.. I really like that. It makes so that you cannot simply faceroll the event, and makes a great use of commanders.
Risen Priest of Balthazar himself is a great boss because he is able to wipe out zergs without being too unforgiving either. A commander must co-ordinate his squad NOT to melee him when he uses his instant KO attack.
My only complaints are during the escort, where the difficulty spikes too high at certain parts. It seems to lack a leaning curve, and oftentimes Risen Nobles appear without warning. The escort is overall very unforgiving, but could easily be fixed by dividing the Pact Morale into separate “parts”, where you can only lose a certain amount of Morale at once.
I’m pretty apathetic about her design. Don’t care, but I don’t understand why people are complaining.
She does look pretty though.
Why does mortar exist? It does less dmg than nades, it’s slower, cannot crit/proc traits, stationary, cannot hit things nearby, and its range isn’t even that good.
Am I supposed to be impressed by this skill?
No expansion in 2013, they had stated awhile ago. Doesn’t mean one isn’t in the works though. How else are they supposed to open crystal desert?
Hey. If I could possibly get some confirmation, how long do we have to obtain the backpieces? The 28th? Or 11th of June?
Thanks!
Asura, because I can spam a blast finisher with their Poison AoE for 50s of weakness on a target.
Pain Inverter + Permablind is also kinda funny when soloing.
Shadow Behemoth is a pinata. Make him require organization of an entire server to defeat, but drops an exotic.
