Nice Video man! But I’m still not convinced we found a build to 1 vs X. I feel like any burst, like a DD thief, could have taken you out. Especially in a 1vs2 where you can’t keep both CC’d.

Well, at least his opponents were all lvl80 as far as I can remember…

Also, there simply is no class or build that can beat 2 or more players who are equally skilled and geared.

And yes, fast cast is a tiny bit faster. Especially on the first mark you cast. Tho it’s not game changer. But you get used to always position your cursor, I feel more efficient with it. Trust me, I used to hate it, but once you played a lot with it, you can’t play without it anymore.

I tried fast casting and it was simply not working for me. Also it just isn’t faster. :/

Not the one in the camps, they were upleveled.

But I won’t focus on this. Most 1 vs X, for any class, you’ll have some underleveled people and some bad people.

You can’t win 1 vs X again skilled people, except maybe with some mesmer build or Elem DD build.Maybe even an HGH engi.

But I felt like his opponent (not OP fault) were really bad. Just the first fight, the staff Elem were really awful. And the fight at camp was also full of blind auto attack and no heal.

I wish one day too see necromancer win 1 vs x with better then average players. Some classes can do it, I wish necromancer could, becuase necro are pretty cool.

I thought you were full berserk, and I ran a blood build similar to your with full berserk, and I just felt like I was going down too fast.

Kalkz might be a bit on the trolling side on the forum, and might be a night capper. But after all the match up we had with them, he never used any hacks.

In the last like 10 match up again BP, not once did he ever bug abused to get into a keep/tower.

I wasn’t there, but I would be surprised if he did.

Kstudios, you didn’t see their group ether. Even if they hacked they had to get there.

What the hell with the annoying build on your thiefs guys? Those are such troll build. Sword with a lot of stealth and using sword to port back.

I was testing some build on my necro, got stomped by your thief, had to respec to my main build.

Sadly, I could never finish you guys out, both your sword thief would just run each time. Highest mobility class vs lowest mobility class, not much I can do, except make you run away. Tho Your human thief was a lot stronger then your Asura one.

We had some good fight, I was running under [LD] guild I think yesterday. I fought your guardian/mesmer with my Bolt Warrior friend, was pretty cool.

Sadly a monstrous Zerg came by from BP and Ebay and wasted everything with kitten lag.

Tho I’m not convinced for the 1 vs X fights. As you said It’s a lot harder with a necro.

And your opponent are, in my opinion, below average. Most of them are staff Elem (What the?? Staff Elem roaming? :P) that miss all their attack and stay in Fire attunementall fight. Others are ether running away, or auto attacking (The warrior?). Only the engineer could defend himself a bit.

You also lack any kind of escape mecanism, and in my tier it’s impossible to roam without ether Spectral Walik or Flesh Worm. You’ll get zerged to death all night long. Tho you use it in the last fight, and it’s pretty good.

About Fast cast, if you can’t dont use it, it all good. But like OP, I also use it. And I have no issue landing Mark? Can you really miss marks? Those are so easy to land. I used fast cast with my grenade engineer, so using it for necro mark don’t make me miss anything.

I actually posted about it in the pvp forum.

Without spectral skill, you are stuck with 0 life force at the beginning of a game.

A necromancer without lifeforce is starting 2 step behind.

I feel like they should ether make Life force grow over time when out of combat, or add critter in pvp, or make us start with 10-20% life force.

What ever the solution, starting a fight without life force is awful.

I’m not from NSP, but I fought NSP.

Being a solo roamers mostly, the best 5 man roamers I have fought were PAXA. And I saw them shred zerg. I would really suggest NSP for your need.

NSP was the server with the best Gankteam I fought.

I don’t have anymore issue to land my AoE spell with Fast Cast.

I used too, but as you use it, you just know the AoE radius without seeing it.

I personally can’t return to normal AoE anymore.

You know what I mean, I don’t know why you turn this around like that ahah! :P

An ability can only land 50% of the time if it depend of the player skill to land it.

But it can’t depend of a coding mistake to land.

That’s 10%(in your opinion) miss caused by a bug!

I am simply pointing out that every single utility has success and failures.

It’s not a bug it’s bad NPC coding. It’s prevalent with every single NPC AI in the game including Mesmer Illusions, guardian spirit weapons, Ranger Spirit Pets, and Ranger pets. I have talked at length with all of these classes, and every single one of them would take something from the Minions.

Ranger spirit pets = horrifyingly bad
Guardian Spirit Weapons = useless
Mesmer Illusions = wonky and the only reason you don’t notice it is because they can get new once to drop the broken one any time.
Ranger Pets = Attack and retreat keys are the only way to get it to work correctly. They still aren’t perfect as when they swap they have to wait two seconds to actually hit a button so their pet can face the fight. Their retreat takes a few seconds to actually call the pet back.

It’s not a Minion issue, it’s Arenanet’s coding for NPC AI. I would have to ask them as to why it’s that way.

The guy asked if is minion AI would still be bugged next patch. Bhawb said they aren’t, and you backed him.

They are bugged. Be it 10% like you think, or sometime 50% like I think.

This is a coding issue and I really wonder how you can be “again” resolving that.

It’s good in team fight. If you can position yourself and be reactive.

But 1 on 1, it’s going to be really hard.

Not much survivability, low condition removal, you only have a burst.

Still work, but it mainly effective when you aren’t pressurised, and are fighting people with low HP/thoughtness.

If I casted my bones minions before the fights, they would rarely ever attack my target. Even if I pushed and pushed and pushed the auto attack and they just wouldn’t work.

That’s a rather difficult way to go through life. The AI issue before the March/February patch where they did an AI improvement patch was awful regularly buggy and routinely had random pathing issues. You seem unwilling to listen to anything but your own advice. If this is the case, why even post.

Write your solution along with the way to properly code it without making it OP to the developing team, if you are as good as you seem to believe you are, they will take it and run with it.

Here is the issue, you tested it months ago before the improvements, while we did extensive testing not even a week ago. Before we did the video both Bhawb and myself did testing for hours to make sure we had a good grasp of AI.

You had 2 weeks of usage. I have 500 games of pvp play coupled with close to 500 hours of MM gameplay in pve and my amazing 300 minutes of WvWvW. I have recorded dungeon’s with me playing MM. It’s on the SOACGaming channel including two MM killing off spider boss (notoriously difficult on MM).

Single Target Attack x 2 works 90 percent of the time for every single minion. There is no variable, no change, no stop unless you get a wonky pathing issue.

That exactly the same way Bhawb answered to everyone in this topic. How is it to be replied by someone who think he has the absolute truth? Even when you experience otherwise?

The truth is : A guy only have 20 hour of MM necromancer. Yet if he can’t get is freaking minions to attack, there is an issue.

Anet agreed there was an issue, they psoted it on the forum. They never resolved it.

It’s cool you take the time to test and all, but telling me : “Hey this skills works fine 90% of the time” isn’t working well in my book. That’s like if Epidemic would randomly miss 90% of the time.

And even worse for me since 1 time out of 2, my bone minion would freaking stay on me during a fight and stay idle.

I respect your opinion and your test, but it doesn’t mean you are flawless and you know the “coding” behind.

We have different experience with MM. I think we can agree on this.

Slick Shoes / Super Speed – Why no Swiftness?

You can perma stun a group of 2-3 player for 4 second each with the activate. It’s really strong. Do this will dropping bomb/Grenade.

Super speed is a life saver. When WvW and roaming, I often take it over Elixir S. Sure I lose my stun breaker, but I can outrun any zerg that chase me, well most zerg.

Bhawb responding in an aggresive manner only saying : You are not as good as me, you can’t press auto attack.

What kind of freaking answer is that? That’s gotta be one of the simplest and more “God Complex” answer I ever read.

It’s have been like that since release, and I tested it again and it still the same.

Auto attack doesn’t resolve it.

There is a bug, and it need a solution.

I know the “unentended” way to gain Life Force, but I don’t think our balance should come from unwanted mecanism.

We can also presume that Anet might someday “reset” our life force before start.

I agree that a necromancer is really strong 1vs1 with a full lifeforce bar, but focus fire the necro and the DS advantage disappear right away. And at the same time, a necro with an empty life force is left without much defence mecanism.

I think Bas critere solution could be a good idea. Random criter around the place to get some life force.

Hi There!

I just switched back to my necromancer in sPvP.

I was wondering, and I think I already saw a topic about it back then, but :

Should Necromancer start with a full life force bar?

I’m wondering what you guys think about it?

Usually, I can hold a point for a long time, so I go for the close point at the beginning.

So my first fight, I feel like I’m starting without access to my class mecanism. Or I will be able to use it and only receive two hit before dispelling.

DS is really useful to aborb the first burst if you can’t CC the ennemy.

In sPvP it’s a lot harder to generate LF, and I feel it really penalyze us for the first encounter.

I love this set!

It saved me many time in sPvP.

I agree 10% is really low, but at the same time Myst Form is really strong.

Being a necro, our CC heal is pretty long to cast, and having 3 sec of invu to Direct damage often permit me to cast it freely.

I often die to condition, but a lot of invul skills are like that (Elixir S, myst form).

Can’t watch the video right now, I wonder what kind of bug we have with it?

#7: Thieves. Stealing is quite random and doesn’t do much most of the time. It has some traits that make it more useful, but all in all it is an afterthought to the majority of thieves.

#8: Rangers. They have a bunch of abilities to control their pet. I suppose you could talk about the benefits of their pets vs. being by themselves, but really I just see this as something necessary for any pet class to function.

You rate Thieves by only taking Stealth in consideration. By the class mecanism is far from being only that.

Thief have the initiative system, in my opinion the strongest system in the game. They have no CD on weapon skill, it only use initiate meaning if you need the same weapon skilll like Hearth Seeker 3 time in a row, you can do it.

I would rate thief unique ability in the top 3.

Ranger are middle pack I think. They have many pros and cons.

One of the greatest pros is being able to build really tanky, and still having great damage with pet. You also can use it when downed and when out of sight.

Death Shroud, in my opinion, is one of the most boring mecanism in the game. Maybe equal with warrior.

When you compare to elementalist that have twice the weapon skill, or engineer that can play multikit and get crazy number of abilities.

We have a static 4 abilities.

Maybe guardian are boring too, one of the only class I didn’t play much.

DS is efficient in 1 vs 1, but other then that. meh.

when a memser turns you into a moa, face the direction you want to go, press skill 5 and hold on once it wheres off re-engage the mesmer

Still pretty much annoying, especially in spvp where you can’t run far away, and you have to abbandon your point.

I’m fine with the elite itself, it’s a bit cheap but they have a long casting delay so it’s can be dodged.

But the fact that it removes all your minions and put them on cooldown is an attrocity.

I’m sure it’s only a technical “bugs” that Anet accepted because it was too complicated to resolve.

Just like our transform elite kill our minions, they admitted it was a technical issue and it would stay until they could resolve it.

If you compare those escape mecanism to any other class, It seems like they are weaker. Only the Flesh Worm is really good, but it still need to be precasted, or be lucky enought to cast it on a cliff. 1 1/2 second is so long. I personally feel like summon have a too long casting time.

The issue I have in my roaming in T5, is it got a lot zergy since last patch, and because we used to be a T8 server.

In T8 it was a lot less zergy, I could roam with my necro without being zerged.

Now I can’t roam for 5 minute before running into a zerg. And zerg hunting with a necromancer is nearly impossible.

With my DD Elem, my engineer and even my Ranger, I can outrun most Zerg. Not witha necro. Spectral walk and Worm don’t out run people. They only misplace you. Useful if there is cliff, not so if there is a zerg behind you.

Leaping skills are one of the issue I have yeah. Seems like premade group like to focus hard on the necro behind the group. They know we can be annoying if left alone, so they pressure us hard. And leaper are a pain if you don’t have plague elite Up.

95% of the people responding/supporting confusion fall into 1 of 2 catagories:

1) They’re Mesmers
2) They run w/ a Mesmer who does all the killing for them.

99% of the posts in mesmer threads against confusion are factually incorrect or have no idea what they’re talking about, which is why mesmers have to respond. Most people here don’t even know what’s killing them, spec/gear wise.

Not only mesmer use confusion.

I play Confusion engineer, and I’m not biaised enought to defend it.

Confusion is really strong. It shouldn’t proc on traited abilities like on dodge effect and kit/attunement swap.

But I don’t know why we went to talk about thief.

OP was asking if we were viable in 1 vs X.

Last days I ad some fight in sPvP when outnumbered.

with a 30/0/10/30/0 build in knight gear and Wells/locus as utility, I could survive the initiale burst from both class, and dish some damage.

The issue is I couldn’t finish them off. Lacking the mobility, it’s hard to keep up, while someone else is bashing on you. Dark path is useful, but it unreliable when people aren’t escaping in straight line with some distance.

I was also lacking the final burst. Once I used my wells, my DPS mainly come from Dagger/focus. And it’s not a crazy burt, it’s a descent substained damage.

I had good fight, and I learned that Locus activate in group fight is really strong. It’s nearly a second main heal without the condition part.

But it’s really hard to finish someone, especially since we don’t have much safe stomp except a 30 points trait.

Oh well in PvE it’s not the same thing.

With vuln stacking and group buff, with PvE mobs often not having much armor, you can do incredible number.

I thought you could do that on a player. Watching Axe #2 one shotting a thief would be awesome. :P

I will ask you something : How do you finish the thief? I see you have 2 utility used for escape, which I used to run in WvW. But how do you burst him fast enought before he reset the fight with heal/stealth.

Like you said, with a power/blood build it’s not that difficult. If he stealths, spam dagger 1 and run around. 300hp/s from Shadow’s Rejuvenation is no match for our dagger auto and you can heal through a decent chunk of the bleeds.

As for condition build, it takes a lot longer. But I think people are overvaluing Shadow’s Embrace. A thief gets to clear two conditions if he stealths with CnD and is stealth spec’d, and you should have bleeds, weakness, chill, poison, and maybe cripple on him. So the chance of him getting the bleed off is 50/50, meanwhile he’s still taking damage from that and poison, which also reduces his healing.

I won’t go on, but I’ll say that since hitting 80 and properly gearing up I’ve never seen a P/D thief exit from stealth with no conditions on him or full health (unless he gets his heal off). But if he goes to heal, you can simply fear him out of it (you did save your DS fear, right?). If he uses Shadow Refuge you can try to fear him out of it with staff (pretty much guaranteed to in a Terror build, btw) or just run away since he has to stay in it.

In my experience – it’s not an automatically lost fight, there’s lots of room for counterplay.

Been a long time since I had to arg with ya, I remember the good old them before my engineer when we couldn’t agree if our well healing was worth it.

But yeah, about daggering him to death.

I feel it’s pretty random, as any descent thief won’t follow a pattern. Yeah if you hit him, you know because of the chain that you are on him. The issue? They have a many direction they can go.

If you miss the hit, like if you hit in a direction they didn’t go, you just missed them. They will come back with a lot more HP, maybe kite you a bit with short bow. And retry the same thing again.

It’s like a random chance of holding to him each time. Especiall if they have a dodge available.

And if you watch the previous video, once they are stealthed, they can perma stealth over and over if they don’t hit you. And it’s pretty hard to stop them from doing so.

I still feel like that kind of build is directly countering us. Especially with the direct damage they can dish.

You can’t use a terrible necro to show any proof for how necromancers are. I could show a video of a d/d ele jumping off cliffs to his death, is his idiocy anything to the class itself? Of course not.

I agree. I’m telling you, once you get a good Necro vs. a thief like that, then you can discuss. It would be the exact same if I go on my Necro, make a video of fighting an up-leveled thief who doesn’t even know how his class works….
And to the poster who posted a few posts back.
If a thief attacks a necro —> Flesh wurm away, spectral walk away, death shroud + fear then Dark Path to scare them away, fear with staff, chill with staff, place a mark on yourself so it triggers when he’s near, warhorn daze, scepter cripple, dagger immobilize, axe cripple, focus chill… There’s a ton you can do. Deathshroud fear is almost like a stun breaker, unless they have stability. Saying a Necro has no escape mechanisms tells me you haven’t played the class enough. Deathshroud is a really powerful thing, you just need to figure out how it works For example, if you have that trait that makes your marks give you 3.3% life force, you can do this: Fight… then if you are running or in a thick situation (for example having a ton of bleeds and poison on you and nothing to remove them), enter deathshroud, let it take all the damage, then when you get out, throw marks, and in 5 secs death shroud should be at least decently filled, all while you lost almost no actual hp….. Last example… use Dark Path on neutral monsters when escaping and look back to throw your marks on those who chase you.

I have to disagree with you,

Necro has the least escape mechanisms in the game. Even Anet said it. They aren’t meant to escape fights.

Flesh Worn : Our best escape move. Sadly, without cliff or level change, It won’t make you escape a thief. Especially if they don’t open with steal.

Flesh Worn as a 1 1/2 second of cast time. That a very long delay when you have a thief pounding on you.

You use it, they just shadow step to you and resume. You try tu chill/spectral walk. With no cliff it’s no use. They just Heart seeker your kitten off.

Now you have what? Darkpath?

I don’t see how your chill/cripple can save you vs a thief that can leap to you.

Let’s just say you are tanky enought and you escape their burst. Now how do you kill him?

Marks him to death? Stack condition on him?

This kind of them have condition removal on health and on stealth.

And if you try to burst him, he is just going to stealth away with his smoke field combo.

[GF] is hands down the best guild for their size I’ve seen in any of the tiers I’ve been in. There are many skilled guilds, small and large, but [GF] has the most talent on an individual level as well as team co-ordination. When people would call out in map chat “a group of 7-10 Ebay taking SW camp” I would immediately ask which guild it was, if the reply was “[GF]” I would make sure that I had a sufficiently large enough force to wipe them. I know if it was even numbers they would wipe us. I’m a commander in YB and I respect their talent.

Like I said… there are many great guilds of all sizes, but for me [GF] is the best smaller guild I’ve played against. I think BP and AR should learn to counter them rather than complain about them. YB learnt how to deal with them… bring twice their numbers lol.

In my opinion, I had a lot more trouble with PAXA then GF.

Make no mistake, GF is the best “small”(small is relative, they have fairly good number) roaming group in Ebay.

But they have a lot more number then PAXA had, making it appear as if they are better.

But PAXA was running 5 man group, and was really efficient in doing so.

People didn’t give them credit because one of there member was constant trolling on the forum.

And people, stop answering to Archer, you are only giving him attention. That guy obviously has no idea what he is doing.

Wow,

I’m laughing at all those super heros post.

Everyone posting here seems to think confusion weak and can only be applied once, and we have no other damage.

With a HGH engi, good luck waiting for my condition duration to go off.

Funny how you call HGH engineer FOTM, yet you are playing a DD Elem, the strongest class in game right now, and the FOTM class since 4 month.

I’M a very average player, and yet when I play my Confusion engineer, I usually only die if I have 2-3 skilled player on me.

Like I said in the other post, good luck having the choice to cond removal for 5k confusiuon hit, or stop attacking for 10 sec will I pound on you with direct damage, burn and bleed.

I wish you guys meet an average skilled HGH engineer, which will prolly show you how strong confusion is.

Played Engineer, Ranger, Elem and Necromancer.

Necromancer are by far the worse for 1 vs X.

Just like people said :

We lack the mobility, the damage mitigation, the burst and the sustained healing.

Mobility : You are slow, you don’t have any leap. 1 vs X often resolve around using environement, using them as shield, using LoS. Being slower mean you will have more trouble doing this. You also can’t kite much with a necro. Ranger can use bad kitten kiting to win 1 vs X, same with some Engineer power build. Elem DD are excellent at this, using more of a hit and run still.

Damage Mitigation : Our only source of mitigation is DS. Yet DS get weaker the more oponnent you have. You don’t block damage, you aborb it. You still get CC’d, you still receive condition, you still suffer any effect of the attack. Engineer 3 sec block completly supress any damage done for 3 second, even if 4 thief burst you. If 4 thief burst you in DS, I’m not sure it would hold 1 second.

When using my invulnerability skill with my Elem, I receive no condition. in DS, I still receive them. I get out of DS and I have 20 bleed, 7 confusion, crippled and immobilized.

Burst : Direct damage burst. When 100nade existed, I could win 1vsX because I could kill one of them really fast, heal, and be nearly on equal footing with the remaining enemy. The faster you kill someone the easier the rest of the fight will be. Killing one guys in 5 sec is a lot safer then killing 2 guys in 10 second. Those extra 5 sec mean you’ll receive more damage and prolly die.

Same with HGH condi burst on engi. I can drop people HP really low, and when they are low they go defense mode. It’s a lot easier to fight then. I also have acces to burn and confusion, both really awesome condition in group fight. Confusion is basically a defensive tool, as people have no choice but to stop attacking or die.

Sustained Healing : We do have the blood trait, but right now I didn’t have a build strong enought to 1 vs X with it. Elem DD have incredible healing, giving them the edge in 1 vs X. They can basically full heal each 5-10 second. With Engineer, I have a shrot CD heal (16 sec) and many medpack. Ranger can build for crazy healing/regen, with descent damage from their pet, and synergy really well with there dodge.

Necromancer have a long CD heal (CC) that heal for a good amount, a well on really high CD if not traied(40, still long CD if traited), and a weak pet that got buffed twice, but is still lack luster since you can’t cast it twice during a fight, the casting delay is far too long. What make it worse, is Necromancer is a Large Pool, low armor class.

We are designed around this. They balanced us around the fact that we have more HP then most people. Sadly I feel like they forgot about substaining ourself, wich is for me, a lot more important.

Healing for 7k on my 2k armor necro, is a lot less important then healing for 7k on my perma protection Elem DD.

You only heal for a little proportion of your total HP, which make sustaining yourself really hard since you have really low armor from clothing.

I have to go, sorry about all the spelling mistake, no time to reread! And It’s only an opinion, no hard cold fact! All of this is from my experience.

Not even close to being correct. All of our weapons are great options. It really depends on your playstyle and what your purpose is in wvwvw. In PvE there are two Axe options full on Axe berzerker damage :P, and Minon builds (My favorite). Dagger is incredible for about 4-5 different build variations. Scepter is for condition builds, and is definitely the easiest to play in a WvWvW zerg.

600 seems to be too short to be an efficient range to kite people. And going melee range vs a real Melee is death sentence.

Axe is fantastic in 5 to 10 man havoc squads because you can vuln stack for your warrior/thief teammates. While 600 seems relatively close, its better than dagger 150 range which makes me cry hen I see evade evade evade. In the end it’s about preference 600 is alot safer especially with unholy feast, and one good Ghastly Claws chain will hit someone for 13k ;P

I have nearly full berserker gear on my necro, with some ascended.

How many vulnerability do you have to stack to get those number?

Because I would hit for around 5-6k on people, on crit. If it worked for the whole duration, which sadly doesn’t happen often.

How do you react to pressure? Like a thief, a mesmer, a ranger, an engineer? How do you counter when they start focusing you?

I feel like Axe doesn’t have the damage/utility to fight 1 on 1. Or to escape being focused.

I will have to try it again. But It didn’t impress me much last time I tried it.

People complain about Confusion just like they did with TI and Mass Betrayal in Rift…People like to spam abilities….They also don’t like to pay attention.

Confusion is the magic condition that only kills bad players. if you are a button mashing zerging baddie then confusion will kill you. If you don’t have enough intelligence to see the BRIGHT PURPLE numbers flashing up on your screen and stop attacking for a few seconds then you deserve to die. Seriously we have had this conversation so many times. Confusion is so easy to deal with. JUST DO NOTHING! it will go away!

Here a challenge :

Meet a confusion engineer, get hit by confusion.

Stand there doing nothing.

Now you are dead from burn/bleed/direct damage after 5-10 sec, while the confusion duration is 10 second for each application, can be applied each 12-15 second.

Good tips man.
