We’ve heard that the Chinese and US/EU versions of GW2 will be receiving concurrent updates, so can players expect a break in between Festival of the Four Winds and the start of season two to let the Chinese community members get their feet under them?
Zadorojny: The big thing about this festival is that we wanted to really make it feel like it was a huge welcoming celebration but at the same time that it was something that existing Guild Wars 2 players could come back and take the time to enjoy. It’s a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate before we launch into the start of Season 2. Don’t worry; by the end of the festival, you’ll hear more about Season 2.
Waller: Our focus right now is having a great release with Festival of the Four Winds, and hopefully people will enjoy both the Labyrinthine Cliffs and the Queen’s Pavilion. While they’re enjoying that, they should know that before the release is over there will be more information that will make it clear about what’s coming. As a fun note, players who have been carefully watching the progress of the “Festival of the Four Winds” release will be able to find hints that might tease at living world season 2.
The developers are heads-down working on the future content releases. We are also in the middle of launching the game in China. Launching a game in a new country is kind of a big deal. Because of the team’s focus on game development, they are not able to dedicate as much time out of their workday to posting on the forums. While they might have time to read the forums, they don’t necessarily have time to engage in discussion.
I know it’s hard to be patient in this down time between Living World seasons, but please bear with us. As much as you’re craving new content to play, the team is dying for you to play it.
Unfortunately, I can’t give you any information about future content, whether it’s plot spoilers or timeline. I can say that, as a player, I am very excited about the next season, and I cannot wait to see what you all think about it.
Please know that your feedback continues to be important, our devs are still reading (though they may not have time to respond), and we sincerely appreciate your support and you sharing all your thoughts with us (critical or otherwise).

Cool thing is you can wear it in combat, it’s accountbound so you get it on all your characters (without having to swap it around I might add), plus there’s no transmutation charges to use it – just toggle on and off.
A really well made set. Can use backpieces with it also
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Trading_Post#Currency_Exchange
The exchange rate is set by the players through supply and demand. There is a 15% fee as with all Trading Post transactions.
“guys GW2 is really good at the moment” – sorry, but i see too many “see you later”-posts from my long playing guildmates, that contradicts your opinion.
And I see too many returning players and new players that contradicts your opinion.
It’s also unlocked in your wardrobe where you can apply it to any of your characters that can wear that armor weight.
The drop rate is higher the more gambits you have on the boss. So if you’re killing the first boss with no gambits over and over your chance will be much smaller.
I generally have 40-45% map completion by the time I hit 80. It’s well worth doing the end zones however, they give a guaranteed 2 exotics each and some of them have the really expensive uncraftable runes in them.
Guardian
Shoulders – Nightmare
Chest – Vigil
Gauntlet – Splint
Leggings – Armageddon
Boots – Ascalonian
The shield is a must have for me. Torn between the staff and the sword. Or maybe the longbow – can’t decide!
I get way too attached to my own toons to do this, but this shows up in a lot of MMOs. Back in City of Heroes, they were called Iron Eagles.
It was cool, because these guys actually formed cohesive groups that played through content together, and would have multiple alts to replace the guys they lost. For them, the standard dungeon run was a hair-raising experience.
Imagine how terror-inducing jumping puzzles would be!
Third, even if Anet have plans they are unlikely to make them public so soon after the China release. Say another 3 months we may hear some from Anet.
They’ve said we’ll know before the end of the Festival.
So many have posted about this and still nothing from Anet, keep posting till they speak.
You arent going to get a personalized reply from Anet on every single thread. Dont expect one.
I dont want a personal reply I want a reply to all players acknowledging the missed a gear set and will give it back to us.
Grouch mentioned it on a Ready Up livestream and said it will most likely come back in a future PvP reward track. Not sure which Ready Up or I would link it.
OP, you want my stuff before you leave?
You seem to have coherent reasons, maybe I can entice you back by offering shinies!
Seriously though, I think your honest opinion regardless of the lordkrall’s warrants attention.
You are in no way being overly emotional. You are wording it as you see it. How on earth that can be translated to being bad is beyond me.
Well, when I say overly emotional, I mean just emotional, since I have the emotional range of a doormat. I rarely get emotional over anything, so to get worked up as I have is unprecedented for me.
You may wanted to get that looked into. Extreme, sudden mood swings can be a symptom of something serious. Hope you feel better.
Watch the combos and the weapons swaps.
It only resets if you change zones. It’s always been that way.
Not that I ever need a net (cough), just thinking of the poor baby dolyaks.
Thanks
Megaservers appear to be keeping it quite lively
We do get gem rewards from AP achievements.
You should post this in tech support, it looks like your bloom and postprocessing settings are too high.
The patch is today, but has not been released yet. They don’t post the notes until they release the patch. You can check out these previews from other sites:
http://massively.joystiq.com/2014/05/20/guild-wars-2s-festival-of-the-four-winds-launches-today/
The tournament ends on May 30th. At that time you get tickets based on your server’s standing within its league.

I like how they ended up the last season with content coming every 2 weeks but the bigger events lasting for a month.
What I’d like to see going forward is more new zones and permanent dungeons added through Living World. I think rather than selling an expansion (which would separate the playerbase) they could sell new races. That would be cool.
Have you spoken with the new NPC Black Lion Armor Trader? Check with him near any trading post in the major cities, make sure to do it with all your characters.
There’s already over 60 feature films worth of voice acting in this game. Not enough? xD
Fractals are really fun. They start off fairly challenging but as you go up the levels they get increasingly difficult. Best dungeons in the game, imo.
Also join a guild for guild missions, do world boss events. End game is very wide open in this game, there is many ways to progress your character, you are not limited to one instance only like in so many other gear treadmill type MMOs.
I toss them into the Mystic Forge for a chance at Jewelcrafting gems and doubloons.
So do games with PTRs never have bugs in their releases then? Do they really all get caught during testing?
It’s an honest question because I haven’t played another MMO since UO (which did have PTRs but they were a joke, people only played on them to muck around with free money and the ability to set your stats at will), but I’ve also never heard of any testing process being 100% effective, especially on software as complex as an MMO.
And if PTRs do guarantee every release will be bug free why don’t all games use them?
Problem is Anet doesn’t test any of it. They design, look at it for about 10 seconds and then put it in the game we the players test it. (This does not include the quality of the content itself either) I’ve based this opinion on the need to patch every single thing they put in (even with months of “making sure its correct”) and mostly within that day if not a hour or two of the updates going live. (Again does not include the quality of the content aka story or new mechanics they add which have problems their own)
Have you come across ANY piece of software that has NEVER had any bug fix updates to it?
I’ve seen a lot of software that never had any bug fixes at all. Software with no bugs to fix however is a different matter.
PTRs do not eliminate bugs. I used to play WoW which has extensive PTR testing (4 to 6 months) and that was one of the buggiest games I ever played.
Remember all the Tequatl bugs?
Here’s why (copy and paste the link, the forum breaks the link):
http://www.relicsoforr.com/?p=3256Chris WhitesidePlaying that, I don’t know how well known this is, but we didn’t kill Tequatl before Tequatl went live internally. That’s not how we do our reviews or our balance testing. We don’t need to kill it to know how well balanced it is, which is interesting and maybe one day we can do a podcast about that and I can explain how that works.
I’m ok with his opinion that they don’t need to kill it to know how balanced it is, but they do need to kill it to see whether it is killable.
TLDR constructive feedback: Don’t skip testing.
The “killable boss” thing is pretty standard in all MMO testing. More difficult encounters have not been beaten during testing. You don’t want to limit the difficulty of the boss to the ability of the testers and the devs have tools to test if the mechanics are working properly.
Of course, Tequatl was beaten by Blackgate the first day it was released so this entire conversation is kind of silly.
No, China is completely separate from NA and EU.
You should have recieved any duplicate dyes back for the gem store dyes.

Have you logged in to all of your characters? If you don’t have them yet submit a ticket.
Looking at the number of views, seems to be clearly on the rise.
I find most of the forum activity is on reddit. Did you know that the GW2 reddit gets more views than the WoW reddit (over 10 million per month)? With almost as many unique viewers!
Are these guys bots too? (Bronze league btw)

You’ll be glad to read this post from Matthew this morning then
Hey guys,
I’m not the typical “spokesdev” around the forums, so I won’t be able to give you all the answers you are looking for about what’s next, but I’ll clarify a couple of points:
- The “usual suspects” who you would typically get answers from on this front have unquestionably been super busy getting the game out in China. A number of our devs were in China for the launch this past week, so I imagine that in addition to the hard work they put in over there to get the game launched, they’ll be returning home, getting over jet lag and catching their breath. I hope you can all understand that, and we appreciate your continued patience. We’re all as excited to share with you what’s coming next, as you are to hear it.
- There has been, and continues to be ongoing development on projects outside of China, with the team hard at work on Living World Season 2. I can’t say anything more than that yet, other than to reiterate that we’re excited to be able to share more info on it when the time comes.
- Come and check out the Festival of the Four Winds on Tuesday! Even if you experienced it back in July, we had a small-ish team revitalizing it to celebrate the China release, and there will be new things to do and see. :-)
Seems like a reasonable assessment. So GW2 is losing population, and by definition, dying.
At this rate it should be quite dead by the year 2075.
Run Fractals at least 10 levels below your level for ~6 to 10k karma per run. No daily reset on the karma, you can run them all day.
Relics of Orr interview with Chris Whiteside posted yesterday ~~
ArenaNet is very strict when it comes to verbal abuse. If you see any player doing that, just right click and report and they will be dealt with.
There is no figure assigning sales in Europe to the GW2 sales. We cannot say what causes the drastic decrease in Europe.
Was going to say the same thing. Sales for GW2 by region are not given. Sales for NCSOFTs combined products by region are.
The EU drop was most likely from the drop in Lineage sales.
Happy to see that sales for GW2 remained steady. There’s a slight increase from 3rd quarter last year from 24,481 million won to 25,142 million won or around $650k.
What a terrible liar. He hasn’t played in a year yet somehow knows that Vigil Keep is the new hub.
No – the REAL version of this song is here… stay at least till the 1 minute mark
No, this one!
Probably coming this week with the Festival of the Four Winds patch. The Zephyrites like to trade with us
I voted maps but it could be we just need some EotM mechanics in some of the maps. If they did add another set of maps they could rotate in and out with the current one it would be very exciting
