Inflexible Skin System

if there was an easy-swap method, I’d be much more inclined to collect armor skins. For the most part, it has been “Does that skin look better than what I’m wearing now? Eh.. maybe? I guess I won’t buy it”

The fact that minis end up being such a pain is why I don’t have mine out.

They take up a bag slot
They force you to take an invisible bag
You have to reactivate every time you zone
They don’t even keep up with you when you’re running around.

They really should work like Ranger pets. You just activate them from a separate menu.

What Kiel offers is freedom. Cheaper waypoint costs means you can adventure without spending tons of silver on travel costs. Even reviving is less risky with more affordable waypoints. What do cheaper keys do? Rope poor gamblers into giving Evon more of their money.

If the problem is solely people leaching, then keep MF but put the player’s MF stat by their name. Parties will see upfront who they are dealing with and then the party can decide if they want let that person into the party. And make it a reportable offense to get a player banned if they subsequently raise their MF without the party’s approval. For WvW, just don’t spend the time to rez the people with the high MF.

Isn’t that exactly the sort of toxic behavior they’re trying to remove by getting rid of Magic Find? The problem with Magic Find is exactly what you illustrate. Players are basically shunning other players because of their build, and it creates an environment where people are unwilling to play with each other because of a stupid primary stat. Your suggestion would only make things worse!

There’s a reason why there’s no exp penalty for helping each other kill the same monster, and that the rewards are the same when 1 person does a quest or if 10 people do a quest, and that loot is strictly player-side, and that gathering nodes are player side.

Magic Find negatively affects the community’s behavior. There are those who are pigeon-holed into Magic Find because they perceived it as the only stat worth having, creating stagnation in their build choices. There are those who snap at other players for even using a single piece of Magic Find gear (try running full Berzerkers with a Sigil of Luck, and people will get angry). The sooner we get rid of it, and the sooner we get over it, the sooner we can play with the builds that are optimal to our playstyle.

What are you talking about? You already have the badges. You don’t need to do any WvW or JP to trade them in for Exotic gear, Ascended gear, and skins. You just go to the NPC and get your stuff.

WvW and PvE share the same set of gear. You can buy stuff in WvW and take it with you to PvE.

That replacement makes the armor set completely worthless, though. If the players don’t give a rats patootie about Karma bonus, that armor is better salvaged for scrap.

The point is that they are removing a stat that people specifically sought. By removing that stat from armor, the associated gear is completely worthless to the person who owns it.

It’s like buying a Windows gaming computer, and halfway through the year, someone swaps it out with a Mac. Sure, it’s basically the same thing, but now you can’t use any of the software you used to use, and most of your games don’t work.

MF gear has been a design flaw from the beginning. The fact that you have a second set of armor strictly used for farming should be a huge indication that there’s something wrong. You aren’t playing with your optimal build. You are purposefully taking a penalty (one that directly affects your party-mates) so you get better drops. The better situation is that you use the build that is optimal for your character, not pigeon-holed into using junk armor just for drops.

Now, if ANET is smart, they would handle it this way. Ascended trinkets can be traded for a different Ascended item. Ring for a Ring, Amulet for an Amulet. If the trinket has an infusion, then you also get to choose a replacement infusion.

Magic Find Exotic armor and weapons can be traded in for the same piece of armor/weapon of a different (common) stat combination. The new piece will have the same skin as the one used to trade. Not sure what to do about Runes/Sigils…

Every other minute they talk about Jormag being a threat. We constantly have to keep his Lieutenant (The Claw) at bay.

Kralkatorrik has been leaving Branded creatures all over the place, and we have to deal with his envoy, The Shatterer.

Primordus is the reason we have Destroyers all over the place.

Right now we’re keeping them at bay until we either go on the offensive, or when one of the dragons becomes aggressive. My money is on Jormag.

What class best for +all Stats armor

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Katai.6240

Necromancers definitely take advantage of all the stats well. Staff and Wells drop down a lot of condition and power-based damage. They need the defensive stats because they lack good escape mechanisms (most classes have some kind of mobility even when they’re downed). They even have quite a bit of healing because of Healing Well, Blood Mark, and traits.

Do you think that multiguilding is useful?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Multi-guild isn’t really useful to me. Most of the guilds I’ve been on have either required single-guild membership, or they die right away.

Giving leaders the ability to broadcast to all members would be useful. Something like

[GILD] LeaderName: Attention everyone. We are starting Guild Missions in 20 minutes. Represent and Warp to [Mordor] if you want to participate.

It would do wonders for a lot of smaller guilds.

Why would you replace “Grind for gold to get armor” with “Grind for tokens with armor”?

At least with gold, there are multiple ways of getting it. I’m sure grinding out 15 gold to get the Aetherblade armor is much easier than grinding out more tokens that are capped daily.

Really, you want the new armor? Then run the new dungeon 10 times. With item drops + the 1-gold per run reward, you can own the new armor without spending a dime.

Most of your Exp during normal gameplay is from map completion. That means just run around and exploring. Discover new areas, open waypoints, and do an occasional heart quest. For the most part, your build doesn’t really matter as long as you can run past monsters when you need to.

in Players Helping Players

Cosmetics, really.

Getting gold for your primary equipment isn’t hard. With all the karma you get by the time you’re 80, you might buy a full set of exotic without paying a dime.

The only thing that costs money are cosmetics. Shiny focus, pretty sword, etc. More money, better access to skins and toys. You gain no advantage for having a ton of money.

What to salvage?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Katai.6240

Katai.6240

White: Salvage with a crude/standard salvage kit, especially if they’re metal. Mithril and Orichalcum tend to be worth more than the white’s base cost, so you’ll end up ahead here.

Green, Blue: Sell them. Salvaging them usually isn’t worth it.

Yellow: Salvage with a High End salvage kits. Black Lion Salvage kits can come from daily rewards, which is always nice. You can also get Mystic Salvage Kit if you have 3 Mystic Forge Stones handy.

Orange: 90% of the time, you’re good with selling this on the TP. If the math works out, you can salvage this and the price of Ectos + Rune/Sigil may be worth more, but that doesn’t happen very often.

I really don’t think Torment is really going to buff thieves as much as Weakness is going to nerf them.

Really, turning 50% of all your attacks (including critical hits) into 50% of your base damage is a HUGE. Reducing your 200% damage crit to a 50% damage glance is a lot of damage.

Torment is nothing more than a root for anyone who pays attention to their status effects.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

As forced as Leveling to 80, imo. The only thing that Laurels give you exclusively is the Amulet for 30 Laurels. That’s 20 days (20 dailies + 1 monthly) to get the amulet and you’re completely done. It’s only 10 days (10 dailies + 1 monthly) if you have 250 Badges of Honor.

Everything else has non-Laurel means of getting. Once you have your amulet, there’s no real reason to keep doing dailies.

I think the change in matchup, theoretically, was to expose differences in skill that may not be visible in the stagnant rankings. Basically, it’s Rock vs Scissors one week, then Scissors vs Paper the next week. We never see Rock vs Paper, so Paper is always ranked low. Unfortunately, population outweighs skill by a huge margin right now. I don’t see the state of WvW improving until that is properly managed.

Crab Toss: I don't like it

in Last Stand at Southsun

Posted by: Katai.6240

Katai.6240

While the game is playable, there are way too many flaws to consider it “good”. Should I start a list?

  • You spend too much time lying on the ground. Whether it’s being beaten by a Karka or by a plank, you’ll be on the floor more often than not.
  • Attack range is inconsistent. Sometimes the #1 grab hit’s from 6 feet away, sometimes I can’t hit when I’m right in their face. Sometimes the targeting will make me grab an egg from the guy next to me rather than the crab right in front of me.
  • The stop at the end of the run is just frustrating. It’s intentional, I know, but it doesn’t happen for any intuitive reason. You just stop… just because…
  • I think there’s too many players. The game is really chaotic, and it’s hard to tell where the crab is a lot of the times.
  • The game is called Crab Toss, but no one is really tossing any crabs…

Really, I think this game should have been cooperative, where everyone tries to keep the crab alive for a long as possible while dodging Karkas. That sounds way more interesting to me, even with all these issues the same.
