Power or burn condi for pve?

Neither longbow nor sword are all that great for pve anymore but if it’s only for open world and solo stuff that shouldn’t rly matter.

If you want to use those weapons you should play power which is more suited for open world anyways since most of the stuff melts before you could even get up your burn stacks.

If you look for some tips and tricks I would recomend checking out the link in my signature. It’s pretty long though.

Mace #1 is a little slow because it hits multiple targets; Mace IS a AoE weapon. Like any AoE weapon, it will be lackluster against single targets.

It’s funny because the 3rd attack from the chain doesn’t cleave.

Just range it. Scepter with Zealous Scepter and Supreme Justice is actually the best solo build you can get assuming your target doesnt move 24/7.

Matthias : Reflect is important for this boss, but Mesmer do a WAY better job. No particular reason to bring a Guardian here.

Aegis for the timed bombs is so good though, protection let’s you survive things that would 1 shot you otherwise and a backup reflect in case the mesmer cant reflect for whatever reason is nice to have.

I mean sure you can do it without all that but it definetly makes the fight easier and makes mistakes a lot more forgiving.

Guardians can tank. All you do is slapping valor and one toughness trinket on the standard DPS hammer build though so your soldiers gear won’t really be of use. Also a tank is only needed for 2 raid bosses so far and guardians aren’t really the first choice anyways.

For the other questions:

Tanking is fun at VG imo but pretty boring at gorse.

Clearing a raid takes arround 30 minutes to 2 hours depending on how good your party is.

It would be really hard if not impossible to find a spot as first timer playing a non meta build.
As I said before your PTV gear is not useful so I wouldn’t bother with it.

In PvE it’s pretty good but not optimal. In raids and fractals they are useful thanks to blocks, reflects, cleanses, decent dps and perma protection and people like having them but in a 100% optimal comp you wouldn’t pick them.

In PvP it’s meh and pretty outclassed. It’s definetly not on the same level of uselessness as warrior but still not in a great spot.

Guard has a lot of team utility that necro doesnt have or only has to a very limited ammount like perma protection, reflection, cleanse and stability which are all useful in the new raid wing btw.

Also I’m pretty sure hammer guard easily has more damage than power reaper. Maybe not more than condi reaper but you can’t really compare DH and condi reaper since they bring completly different things to the party.

Focus is nice to use 5 and then swap it out to what you actually want to use. Also having it on swap on the hammer build can be nice for blocks if you really need them.

Mind explaining me how you can be terrible at hammer? The “rotation” isn’t exactly hard. :<

Also hammer doesn’t only have higher DPS assuming perma quickness but also gives permanent protection and has more CC. There is really no point in not going hammer.

It won’t neccesarily break your group if you use GS/Lbow instead but there is really no point in bringing a guardian if he does that since all you provide is DPS and other classes can do that better.

That being said I feel you. GS/Lbow is definetly more fun than hammer. :<

It really depends against what you play. Against multiple revs paladins amulet will be really nice to have, against a bunch of necros it will not help you at all. You should always look at the oposing comp before deciding for an amulet imo.

That being said I played marauder hambow and it’s going alright. I’m almost never losing unless I’m up against stacked premades. Might just be me getting carried from duoQing with pro league players though.

That being said I probably wouldn’t play DH in a more serious enviroment and I would probably already have rerolled if I would still play in ESLs. I really don’t think it’s anywhere near viable beyond random ranked games.

Your primary stun break against necro is your F3. They have only one unblockable corrupt and that is from staff 4, with shield of courage on, they cant corrupt with anything else.

Why is the Spirit Smith backpiece so much more transparent than it is in the preview and the hero panel? I can barely see it on my character even when I scroll in. Makes me regret buying the shortbow just to finish the collection. :<

The reason why Hammer is so good in raids is mainly that you should have 100% quickness uptime and Hammer gets a straight up 50% DPS boost from that since all you do is autoattacking.

For PvE assasins earings and accuracy sigils are optimal. If you check the metabattle articles for the main guardian builds which are written by snow crows or the guide on dulfy they will tell you the same.

I doubt that anybody who says air sigils are better ever did the math on it. Obviously that only applies to PvE. In PvP on crit procs are superior to passive stat boosts because your DPS uptime isn’t half as high.

It’s decent on meditrapper since as you said you can chain CC people and knock them out of test of faith. It’s not too good though since people tend to dodge as soon as they see test of faith popping up. If you want a more offensive option than focus or you just like shield it’s definetly viable (as far as you can call DH viable, heh).

It’s not only test of faith that works like that it’s every skill that creates rings/wards.

If you teleport through ring of fire you get burned, if you teleport through ring of warding you get knocked down etc.

Seing how it’s been arround since release it’s probably intended.

Force sigils should tell you that it’s obviously about PvE.

I switched air to accuracy a while ago. As far as I know it’s better on guardian since we don’t have a prec signet to reach 100% crit chance like for example warrior or ele.

I’m legitimately confused. I thought Guardian was the Go-To tank for Raids? I am trying to gear up one of my characters for tanking and thought Guardian would be the most secure. What is going on?

Guardian would be a good go-to if there was enough damage that tanks had to go somewhat potato. Even then people would probably prefer scrapper. Thing is there isn’t much focused damage on the tank, so the best go-to is something that already has comparatively bad dps but something vitally important to a raid group. See: alacrity-stacking chronomancer.

I see problem with GW2 that it breaks classic RPG model of professions. It doesn’t make any sense, nor it is fun to play a game where this formula doesn’t work: heavy armor freaking tank should be taunting the boss while glass DPS tries to look innocent and shoot big freaking fireballs at the boss and support running around like a madman giving boons and heals and cure diseases. However, what we have is, tanks a laughing stock. Every poor fellow can tank the boss in a cloth rag and a walking stick.

What I would do, and I really do it is the best thing possible: I would make a custom balance/restrictions in raids. So the support or DPS cannot reliably tank a boss. You don’t have a heavy armor? Forget being a tank. You deal crazy amount of support and heal?-forget tanking again. You hit big criticals? – Be prepared to die in 2 seconds if the boss actually looks at you. And some conditions have to be capped. It is ludicrous that some class can do 12 000 burning damage per second.

You’re right btw, the difference between assasins earings and full zerker is tiny but there is one. If you don’t care about min maxing too much you can just stick to full zerker.

DH definetly helps because purification and the new f2 give you nice sustain which means you never need to blow your meditations for healing.

Also test of faith, dragon’s maw and longbow with heavy light give make dh a lot more impactful than core guard when it comes to offense.

That being said DH is still considered bottom tier when it comes to actual tournament matches but it’s still pretty good in some 1v1s and 2v2s.

Did your wife leave you? Kids flunked out of high school? I really don’t get this stupid kitten argument. I recently did my 1-100 fractals for ze first time, and I had no issues at all filling parties for the “non swamp” fractals. It took me at most 5 minutes to fill for the most annoying ones. So again, how does other people’s choice of fractals affect you?

It only shows how you are not enjoying the game and just want to finish it ASAP with the less effort possible.

This post if full of B* because it’s not “personal playstyle” but an abuse of the game mechanics. You are free to play the way you want as long as it does not affect the game mechanics.

The lone fact that you use the world “nerf” instead of “fix” tells everything.

While I do agree that bugs need fixing – who exactly in the whole fractal community enjoys doing mossman?

Are there any fractal veterans that still “enjoy” the content and don’t want it done as quickly as possible?

Also a good legit mossman is faster than an exploited one from my experience.

I did 94 a few times to help friends with their archievment. Heh.

The best thing is probably just to take classes that have a lot of burst, lure the chanters in the hallway and burst them down. You should have people that can reliably carry the hammer without dying when running in like a war with defiant stance or something with enough stealth.

You should keep pulling the chanters as much as possible and run between the seals without taking breaks to keep the seals from being repaired.

Obviously all the stuff that’s good to get arround fast between the seals like portal, shadowtrap or JI+MI works well for that.

Also if you give yourself retal you risk a wipe so that’s something to look out for. Guardian is still pretty useful because the traps are really good burst and are pretty strong against trashmobs.

To be fair none of the parties I completed 94 with were LFG-tool pugs though. :<

Sigil of air is far more dps than rage since rage has a waaay longer cooldown.

Apart from the random “hold the line” that was the meta before DH, yeah. Keep in mind that you should always switch traits and utilities arround depending on the encounter.
