nice dejavu youre giving me here.
sure that buff will make burn guard a little bit less horrible and will be pretty strong in 1v1s but in actual games it will still be useless because this doesnt change the fact that most of burn guards damage comes from passives and people being REALLY stupid (walking over purging flames, not dodging torch 4)
also the fact that you think you could use permanenting wrath instead of indomitable courage just shows how little you actually know about conquest and actual 5v5 matches.
Since I never see any guardian doing this ever and it’s not covered in any guides I guess I’d make a forum post about it.
Most of the people playing raids and stuff are probably aware of how skills like Ring of Warding or Static Field that require enemies to cross the ring to have an effect still work if you make the ring spawn inside of the enemies hitbox. This is pretty common knowledge and pretty much every build guide is telling people to utilize that to get more CC against breakbars like that.
Test of Faith actually works exactly the same. If you let the ring that Test of Faith creates spawn exactly inside of the enemies hitbox you get the normal initial damage that it deals PLUS the damage enemies recieve when they cross the ring.
Using it like this basically means getting more than 3 times the damage out of this skill and it works without leaving max melee range so you really don’t lose anything by doing it.

mini old tom. mainly because of the meowing. also i spent a bit too much money on it to not use it now.
yes it was changed for pvp reasons
charr with black wings >_>
well when you only care about instanced content and have full ascended gear its pretty simple. i have asuras and humans with full elite specs unlocked for every class i play and switch between them a lot since all the gear and consumables are account bound
i will never understand why people keep talking about condi metas or condis breaking the game when there was never a point where more than 2 or 3 classes at once actually ran condi builds that werent gimmicks in pvp <_<
Edit: I have every pvp title including champ brawler (exception of champ phantom, have always disliked necro play) Legend every season (doesn’t mean much) was r-70 before that silly April patch. Just some background, for future “you’re just noob” comment, judging by your previous posts.
Cool.
just find it kinda funny that sbody so vocal in the pvp community cant reach legendary and the mediocre pve player that i am nowadays reaches legendary with 70-80% winrate :<
well i have ad infinitum and spirit smith and id still be ok with an option to hide backpieces. mainly because the black and white feather wing thingies are just so ugly T^T
re-clears should just drop t6 bags 2-5 of them per boss cause they are needed for legendary armor anyways and droping materials doesn’t inflate the economy which seems to be anets main concern
+1
if you cant even get to legendary maybe youre just not as good as you think you are?
i wish there would be some sink for it. i have 25 of them :<
if the dh protects his f2 and his heal with either f3 or focus 5 the only way to apply any pressure in a 1v1 is to make him waste his stunbreaks and hit the stolen ability on him since the daze is kinda your only hope for trading damage with them.
the auto trap is not a heal but its a stunbreak so you should trigger it like you already do.
gs is still good in dungeons where fights are so short that one burst is all you need. its also good for the pull in some situations in fractals and raids (altho mesmer is still a lot better at that).
as long as you dont use gs or blast light fields, which you shouldnt do in high lvl fractals anyways boon thieves is not really that big of a deal tbh. other classes like revs and wars get kittened over harder since they actually rely on specific boons to justify their spot in the party.
i agree with the others, guardian is pretty good. we even have some nice build diversity now.
Just dont blast light fields? ._.
dh virtues arent selfish, using them for allies just requires a lot more effort and coordination
i wish i would have your problems
If you complain about retreat, what do you want? Signet of speed? Still going to use that utility slot for it.
Actually, I’m pretty sure a lot of people do want this. Suppose you use “Retreat!” just to get around. You suddenly come upon some action and, oh, retreat has 20s of cd…. it’s inconvenient, ESPECIALLY if you’re in WvW.
Well if the movement speed signet wouldn’t have an amazing active effect it would still be inferior to retreat even in that situation.
People usually use commanders mesmers to tank. Tank guardians aren’t really a thing.
The missing bane signet?
Are people forgetting the failed pure MMR system that’s been around since launch until the test leaderboards? This system is 3x better believe it or not :/
The MMR based leaderboards were cool though. You had people actually tryharding, 5 man queueing with TS and playing actual competetive games in normal queues.
If it would have had permanent decay so people couldn’t have played one match a week and stayed on top of the leaderboards it would have been perfect.
Maybe I’m biased though since I liked seing my name on the first page back then. :<
i doubt that they will improve hammer auto since its already stupidly strong in pve. maybe if they finally split pvp and pve.
both healing guard and condi rev are heavily outclassed by other classes. sorry to be that guy but you should just convert your armor to berserker which is the most useful stat on both classes. :<
The more he’s talking about it the more I want to see his build.
I like to play my own way and dislike being nothing but a meta clone, and in most cases my own playstyle and builds outperform the meta because I understand my proffesions more than the average joe who just copy/pastes a build and thinks they are good to go.
I think I found your problem :<
If you put that one into PvP you would have to put sigil of draining in there aswell and I don’t think I want that.
Just remove the projectile part from the 3rd autoattack and sword is ok again. Probably will happen sooner or later anyways.

games played/games wonI’ve found that the generic meditrapper works fine until high diamond, but once you start encountering teams that have 3-4 eles/revs/engis/rangers/wars you are much less likely to just body your way through a 1v1 so just use dragon’s maw had try to get quick kills. Renewed Focus doesn’t matter much when you cannot deal enough damage to them.
Took me 73 games with 61 wins to reach legendary. I used the standard meditrapper build with marauder lbow sw/f with air blood and air hydromancy.
It takes 62 wins minimum to reach legend from amber so wtf?
I started in saphire because I was legendary last season.

hammer has higher damage AND higher utility so theres literally no point in playing gs.
also with gs you give yourself retal which can be deadly on high level fractals.
the only places where gs shines are dungeons and low level fractals since the fights are short enough to make the burst from gs better than the sustained damage from hammer.

Smite is terrible against groups since each of the 16 hits can only hit one target.
While it’s true that each hit doesn’t pierce or explode, that doesn’t mean it’s bad against groups… in fact the more mobs the better. Like so many AoE multi-hit attacks in this game, some of the rapid hits can miss a target depending on where they’re standing in the area… so unless there’s a huge hitbox on a single target not all of the 16 hits will land. But, the more mobs that are standing in the area, means more hits land.
Scepter is a quick-hit weapon for which any build needs to take advantage of it hitting fast instead of hard.
~EW
I really don’t see your point. Literally every other weapon guardian has – even staff – does a better job than scepter at cleaving down groups of enemies.
I have to agree with what others before me said. Scepter is great against not moving single targets with big hitboxes or when you need a ranged weapon in PvE for some reason and that’s about it. In every other situation other weapons are better.
*shrugs
I like the scepter. I like that I can keep 18-22 stacks of might up at all times w/o runes and sigils.
Also, Orb does home slightly. I agree that more would be nice.
But, you’re talking PvP, and I’m PvE, so most of my points are inapplicable to your concerns.
~EW
So scepter works fine in PVE? That’s good to know, was considering it for a ranged option on my guard.
Not rly, scepter is only a nicheweapon vs rly big hitboxes (and only singletarget). Not more.
Sorry, you’re wrong. The AA and #3 is good for single target, yeah, but #2 Smite has super-quick cooldown and is great for groups (and also targets w/ large hitboxes, agreed).
I use Scepter/Torch, and Torch is good for both single and groups. You’ll mostly be switching between #2 and #5 no matter what you’re fighting against (single OR groups), utilizing #3 for the vulnerability and sending out #4 only if you’re going single target or staying at a farther range (otherwise keep #4 on).
If you only think scepter is a ‘niche’ weapon, then you haven’t played with it enough. It can be really fun in PvE, especially paired with Torch and Zeal/Virtues for quick might stacking.
~EW
Smite is terrible against groups since each of the 16 hits can only hit one target.
In PvE/raids they both have a niche but are not really optimal. Reves niche is giving mesmers that are too lazy or too cheap to get commanders gear to 100% boon duration, Guards niche is perma protection and aegis carrying people who don’t always dodge when they should.
I’d say if you have your guard geared already you should definetly stick with it for PvE.
For PvP rev is pretty much superior in every way so there’s that.
(On a sidenote you can share ascended gear and both guard and rev use zerker armor with scholar runes so I don’t see why you shouldn’t play both and switch between them :<)
hi
canceling it resetting virtues would be an awesome change
aye
It’s probably the bug that drops your AR to 0 which isn’t unique to the underwater fractal. I had it happen in swamp and molten duo before aswell.
Just bring a mesmer with you? :<
Wvw traveler, pvp pack
I wish there would be something better for female asura than this outfit. :<
What exactly is the point of stowing a 4s cooldown skill in any situation apart from hitting on reflects? :<
Guardian
Spear of Justice: This skill no longer hides the off-hand weapon when cast.
We finally got what we were waiting for all this time. c:
Idk man, I like mace way more for PvE. At least it has some depth to it with canceling the auto for more dps and using the block at the right time. Sword is just auto auto auto. :<
1,5k healing is really not that impressive if you look at what druid can do even in full zerker gear so it’s not really a great idea to completly build arround that one trait by taking such a random trait and utility setup.
As guardian you need to be more versatile, you need to be able to switch arround traits and utilties depending on the situation. Building purely arround the fact that you give a lot of aegis means you don’t have a lot of reflects (apart from sota if you want to count that in), cleanses or stability.
Also you seem to try to build arround support but you don’t even take hammer which is arguebly the most valueble support weapon guardian has because it gives something other classes can’t provide without a lot of effort.
To be blunt I would just drop the idea and go with the standard hammer build if I would be you. Even if you don’t want to change the stats on your gear it would still be a lot more useful.
Neither valor nor burning are all that great for PvE unless you mean open world where anything works.
The actual PvE builds take zeal, virtues and dh with either gs mace/focus(torch) or scepter or zeal, honor and dh with hammer.
