Hi, does anyone know whether Griffonrook Run has been fixed or will be fixed tonight’s patch? Thanks.
Just curious but was the chest already opened when you got there or did you blow it open but got no option to loot it? Did it the other day with a friend and it was working fine and it also worked for 2 other people who came a bit after us. We had to blow it open.
They are not much different other possible “crappy result” from the forge. You can throw them back into the forge.
Those are random drops. Some runes and sigils are also craftable but applying a rune or sigil with make an item soulbound so you can’t resell those. Many items are sold for the value of their sigil/rune.
Dill also drops from nodes in Bloodtide Coast, although rarely
and Iron Marches(just went through that again last night) along with Mint.
“The checkbox is basically there for Engineers.”
Not even slightest. Every guild backpack (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Guild_Armorer) you can buy can be toggled on and off.
Oh right, haven’t gotten around to buying one of those yet. Too busy burning gold …
I notice the same on my female sylvari and on my friend’s male human. In the case of the human it was on the inner thighs instead.
The checkbox is basically there for Engineers. Their backpack uses the same slot and it can be toggled. The backbrace you get from the Personal Story can only be upgraded with upgrade items that do not have a level restriction.
That is just how upgrades work here. If an upgrade item has a level requirement it means the item being upgrades must also have an equal or higher level requirement as well.
Reported this a while ago but the letter doesn’t give 1000, it only gives 400 unless they changed this recently. Does it at least show up in your guild’s Influence History? It didn’t for me but it worked for everyone else in the guild. -_-
Played GW1 and i do not recall having this much trouble with drop rates.
GW1 didn’t really have crafting. GW1 also didn’t have a TP. Being able to see the prices at all times will affect how people price things. The TP is global, shouting in an outpost is only limited to that outpost. GW1 armor is also not tradable. If you only cared about stats then there was always collector amor. Weapons were pretty much crafted only for the skin. A GW1 character can get away with just 6 sets in their lifetime. Getting to 400 in crafting would require at least 33 sets (400/2/6, approximately 2 levels per discovery, 6 pieces per set) and then you still have another 400 in a different crafting profession.
How many sets of “Elite”/Obsidian/Vabbian do you have? After 7 years and completing 3 campaigns and 1 expansion on multiple characters I ALMOST have enough things for a Vabbian and nowhere near enough for an Obsidian. After a little over 1 month in GW2 I have enough for 1/6 of an Exotic.
here we go again : NO VENDOR SELLS BULK APPLES ANYMORE, OR FOR KARMA
thank you
and the solution is in post numbers 2 and 3
The only problem there is that you are wrong.
Eda still sells them in bulk along with Nutmeg as mentioned by someone else above.
Having said that, I don’t mean to say that everything is fine; vanilla is used in novice recipes after all.
Well that is part of the problem. Any ingredient that is used at both high level and low level is going to end up being expensive or extremely expensive. Making back the cost shouldn’t be an issue for people making/using Omnomberry Bars but that might not be the case for other people. On the other hand the Master Chef did warn that it would be one of the more expensive professions.
Few days ago i have levelled cooking from 0 to 400 at newly created character.Did plenty of discoveries at 400 without problems. But i do not know if it is intended or no-got 0 character exp while doing them.
That seems intentional since they have it set up so 1 maxed crafting equals 10 character levels.
Some of the ingredients can only be hervested in certain regions of Tyria. Just some i know of: Dill and Sage(not sure about thath) in Ascalon, Rosemary in the Shiverpeak regions, Sesame in Kryta (Hrathi Hinterlands), Vanilla and Mint in the Maguuma regions. So i would guess that every region of tyria has two or three special herbs that only grow in these regions. Another good reason to explore every region in Tyria.
Dill … I have 100% for Fields of Ruin on two characters and I have 6 Dill. I guess if they were trying to equalize the cost of Chef and the other crafters then they have succeeded since Dill and Rosemary are around the same price as the Fine Crafting Materials on the Trading Post.
Edit: Well there are a bunch of buggy DEs in there so maybe people are just staying away for that reason.

I’ve noticed much the same thing with other materials. Walnuts, for example, seem to be extremely common when harvesting from trees, but they’re also barely used in recipes, where as things like chili peppers are (or at least seem to be) much more rare but used in significantly more recipes.
I think Anet may need to look into the drop rate-to-recipe rarity of ingredients.
That might be a problem but the other issue is that some of these are only in certain zones. From the number of people I am encountering in some zones it just seems like those zones are not very popular for whatever reason. I personally hate Fireheart Rise and Lornar’s Pass(which is one of the other places for Rosemary).
Had the same problem. Took the 1c and sent a report for gold selling and submitted a bug report.
Only on uneven ground. It rarely occurs for me since I hate fighting on uneven ground even without that issue.
I normally can make a profit (or at the least cover most of my expense) by crafting the recipe available for purchase from the trade master. They yield huge xp and are normally in such short supply that they actually sell.
That can be generalized to “make profit by crafting Rare items”. GW2 might not be a gear based game but people still want their stats.
I’ve only really been doing cooking, i’m at about 300 now and it’s given me loads of exp, but the food doesn’t really sell on the AH, you can make a bit of money by selling ingredients though (i’d imagine) I haven’t actually sold any ingredients yet…
Got any Vanilla Beans?
Currently around 1s 80c each and still climbing …

Check your PvP set?
or someone just put the wrong item on the wiki since the Arcane Crystal and regular Crystal has the same icon.
Master tools has the same effective level as Steel tools
That doesn’t seem to be consistent. I’ve just used a stack of Master Sickles on Lotus Root, Omnomberries, Orrian Truffles and Black Crocus. It has never failed on any of those. On the other hand the Master pick failed to mine Mithril. I didn’t want to risk the Ancient Logs so I haven’t tried the Master Axe.
I’ve been kinda bummed myself about there being a PvP thing in the Monthly, not because I think it shouldn’t be there, but because the last time I tried PvP (in GW1) people were so rude and nasty to me for being a novice, and not knowing exactly what to do every last second of the battle, that I’ve been reluctant to try it again.
WvW is nothing like PvP in GW1. sPvP would be closer but still not the same.
As for rude people, well that seems to be an unfortunate feature of the internet in general.
This is my result http://www.speedtest.net/result/2209143501.png but I’ve never ran into that issue. As you can see my results are much lower than yours.
Also make sure the server you are testing against is as close to the game servers as possible. The US servers they seem to be in Dallas Texas while the European servers seem to be in Frankfurt Germany.
i got so many materials and mats i found i needed from the internet and well lets just say i wasted ALL my money for nothing.. can’t even find out where to get the kitten recipe scroll thing
Through the mystic forge but just the Bottles of Elonian Wine will cost 1g 28s 0c and that is just to learn the recipe.
The boxes aren’t worth it except for exotic sets. The tiny saving in materials for the lower end sets is nowhere near the cost of making the recipes. Even for exotics the value is debatable.
Why are gathering items soulbound? Account bound would be nice...
in Crafting

I would have assumed it’s because you can get some of them with Karma, and they don’t like it when we can convert Karma to coin.
You can do that conversion through crafting anyway but maybe not as efficiently.

I just use the Ori gathering tools no matter what level area I am in. That way it gets all items, no damaged mats.
That seems a bit too drastic but I do the same with mithril ones. It’s easy to remember what is going to need the ori axe or pick. However even this approach is annoying because merchants the lower zones don’t sell mithril or ori tools.
You can test it yourself for free. Just go to Heart of the Mists and buy a PvP Superior Sigil of Strength from the weaponsmith. It costs 0 glory. Then you can test it on stuff there.
The two should behave the same. If not then it would be a bug. Now consider this, if it cost as much as it does while bugged, how much do you think it will cost when it’s fixed?
also random reward from dailies.
It also won’t work if the items are in an Invisible bag.
well.. what did you expect? thats the purpose of the invisible bag ;-) items in it don’t show up for sale, won’t be moved out of it by using ‘compact inventory’ and collectibles aren’t sent to the bank.
I expected nothing since I forgot I even had it. The question is what did Klaus expect.
It also won’t work if the items are in an Invisible bag.
Jumping puzzles are not vistas.
Karma vendors are the hearts which are on the map.
This is why I take screenshot of every karma vendor I encounter.
If you didn’t do that the wiki covers some of the recipes, hopefully that is actually an incomplete list.
Other sites also have list of karma vendors for entire maps.
As for providing a list, should they be marking every jump puzzle on the maps too? How else are people supposed to know they are there?!
That looks like it might be a NPC only set. Countess Anise is wearing the top part.
It’s unusual but it mostly makes sense to me. Bought with Karma means soulbound is something that is true for a large part of the game. The only thing I would want to see changed is for the recipe item to mention this fact.
Would also be nice if recipe items told you the stat of the created item and the ingredients required.
You can transmute a high level skin onto a low level item and vice versa. You don’t get to select the skin when crafting but that has been suggested.
For lv80 items you would need Fine Transmutation Stones rather than regular Transmutation Stones.
As for pants, there are basically 2 or 3 options. Embroidered(crafted), Ascalonian Catacombs or Exalted(lv80 exotic from tailoring)
(edited by Khisanth.2948)
I don’t have a direct answer but you can craft lodestones from cores using the Mystic Forge in Lion’s Arch and other places.
“crystal” makes me think of the Brand so maybe you can try higher level Branded creatures.
Grapes do not show up because there are no discoverable recipes for grapes. The recipes that uses grapes will be learned automatically when you get the Chef level 175 and 350.
Once you are at 175 you can make grape pie fillings and you can use the fillings to “discover” the recipe for grape pie.
Choice of kit largely depends on how you interpret the description. None of them say anything about rares, only rarer. To me that means salvaging into things 1 tier higher than what the item would normally salvage into. This is both good and bad depending on the tier IF you plan on salvaging to sell.
As for the cost of things from buying.
1 Bronze Ingot = 2xCopper Ore + 1/5xLump of Tin
= 2x20c + 1/5x8c
= 41.6c
1 Bolt of Jute = 2xJute Scrap
= 2x30c
= 60c
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Deldrimor_Ring_Replica Is another recipe that does this. I remember creating a weapon from an Asura recipe with Artificer that was also like this. I don’t remember the name but the vendor is in Metrica.
This might actually be intentional. Running away to heal up then go back to fighting is basically the same thing a player would do in the same situation except the players do not get the benefit being invulnerable. On the other hand most players are a bit smarter than the monsters so they could do things like use the environment as cover or kite things around an obstacle and they also have dodge.
Cost of harvesting ore with a Mithril Pick – 1.6c per ore
- Cost of ingot – 3×1.6c + (8c/0c/16c/48c) = 12.8c/4.8c/20.8c/52.8c per Bronze/Iron/Steel/Darksteel
Cost of “harvesting” leather with a Basic Kit – 3.52c + vendor price of item
- Cost of refined leather – 2×3.52c + (10c/20c/30c/40c approximate prices for white) = 17c/27c/37c/47c
Cost of “harvesting” leather with a Fine Kit – 11.52c + vendor price of item
- Cost of refined leather – 2×11.52c + (10c/20c/30c/40c) = 33c/43c/53c/63c
So even assuming the player is wasting money while mining by higher than necessary picks they still aren’t paying a big difference per item.
It is possible to salvage more than one item per use but that can happen with harvesting as well.
Price history of Jute Scrap http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19718
Price history of Copper Ore http://www.gw2spidy.com/item/19697
Copper Ore has been approximately 10c cheaper than Jute Scrap.
You mentioned needing 5 ingots but that is just the chest panel. The equivalent in Tailoring requires 4 Bolts of Jute, 1 Stretched Rawhide Leather Square, 3 Spools of Jute Thread.
Here the base cost of ingots is more than the bolts but that is offset by the difference in cost for harvesting.
Creatures at certain level ranges are ‘on the fence’ they can drop materials from two tiers. That is why you are still seeing drops for the previous tier in the higher zone. The progression does not happen in lock step since there are a lot more creatures to kill than there are harvesting nodes.
http://gw2craftmap.bteamgaming.com/ has a map of where all the various materials can be found. However, the best way to get fine materials is still killing things that drop bags that can be opened for fine crafting materials. Mostly because those types of creatures are involved in events and events can spawn a large number at once.
I have got them as loot from undead
… and there are at least 3 zones that are pretty much nothing but undeads.
The notes only indicate that those specific recipes were removed. It doesn’t say ALL recipes for mystic chests were removed.
There is no mention of this in the patch notes.
You don’t know that they’re innocent.
Rabbits are definitely not innocent. They are death traps.
The higher kits gives higher chance for “rareR” not “rare” materials. So if you salvage a lv68 you have a higher chance of getting gossamer instead of silk.
If you select the recipe that uses the ingredient it also tells you how much you have in your inventory + bank + collection. That is the number in [ ].
Some other ingredients that should be put back on the vendor is eggs, black peppercorn or the apples which there are 0 of on the TP
Apples in Bulk can be purchased from Eda in Queensdale for Karma or from Apple Jack in Gendarran for 16c each.
As a general rule, if the ingredient is Account Bound then there is a vendor somewhere selling the item. Just check the wiki for their locations.
Cooking was intended to be harder to level than other craft. I doubt that they would do anything about it.
Then they have failed, cooking still easier than the other options except Jeweler.
