if you swap legend often you have plenty of energy during the fight. If you only camp 1 legend you don’t.
I think that the purpose of almost any class in this game is to use and manage the mechanic. If Rev’s mechanic is legendswap, of course the fight is focused on that.
2 nice feedbacks here. I don’t feel that revenant is underwhelming now, but I agree with many of the things you said.
Only the lack of switfness is not an issue atm since we have superspeed.
Do the revs get deleted that are made in beta weekend or do they carry over through the weekends and until hot?
That’s a good question. Last beta character got deleted, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to happen this time. I’d like them to stay so that we don’t have to waste time making the builds from scratch again.
@SkylightMoon.1980
We are not thinking wrong, unless you are also wrong.
We are aware that Revenant is only a backliner atm, but that doesn’t mean it needs to stat this way. Classes should have the chance to run different roles. That’s GW2 philosophy.
lol they need to remove weapon swap
Sure, so that they can make 1 rude user happy while taking insults from 90% of the community. 1 step forward, 3 steps back, way to go.
Stop bringing this subject in every thread, please.
here is lighter’s true color.
side note: he doesn’t know anything about me, just random insults.
Weaponswaop is staying, the community is happy with it and devs wanted it since before the first beta weekend.
Deal with it. You don’t like it? Don’t use it. Simple as that.
I honestly dislike how much of a hand the community has in the creation of the Revenant. It just proves that Anet wasn’t able to do an adequate job on their own and that’s disheartening.
Sure, hate a company when it listens to feedback from the community.
Oh come on.
Skowcia, why don’t you make the thread so it can be updated when new bugs are found? You’re more active on this forum then AlphaK
yet it’s vital for Revenant and no better solution has been provided.
More utilities for each legend. There’s literally not a single reason why there can’t be more than 3. It gives more depth and customization for each legend.
That’s not a solution for not having the chance to switch between melee and ranged AA.
I’m not against more utilities for each legend however. That’s just a different matter.
I don’t see them coming however and that’s why. The philosophy wirth revenant is that you don’t get to customize your skills, but you customize your legend and you have 10 skills instead of 5.
If you don’t like it, then you probably shouldn’t play revenant. There are 8 more classes where you can customize utility skills.
yet it’s vital for Revenant and no better solution has been provided.
better solution for what, weapon swap didn’t fix anything
Here he is again.
It did. Now we can go ranged/melee and we can use more useful skills (like staff skills on a sword focused build). And those are just 2 reasons Roy mentioned in the POI, he mentioned 3, go watch it again.
I’m amazed you’re still so stubborn about it, even after trying. It’s a no brainer, weaponswap saved Revenant. Even without Shiro the class feels usable.
The biggest improvement is in WvW, where you can finally stay ranged and then swap to melee for some burst on 1vs1.
The class finally feels fun to use, stop ruining the fun for everybody. If 90% of the users are happy and thankful for weaponswap, maybe you could start considering the idea that you’ve been wrong.
I know it’s hard to admit, but yeah, you were wrong.
We’ve been trying weaponswap and it’s amazing. Deal with it, have a nice day.
Thanks for bringing it up.
It’s something I know about and have fixed internally already so the next time you can play it, it will block for the full intended duration.
Now that you’re on it, any chance to get hammers fixed? They still disappear when they hit ground/walls.
Shiro is good with any weapon, honestly. Staff+Shiro is great.
As Jalis is the same with everything except hammer (I don’t know how Jalis can be useful in 1200 range situations when hammers are around 400 range).
Ventari is better with Hammer then Staff.
Mallyx goes well with everything. Mace if you want to focus your build on condi, but Mallyx is more about managing condis then putting them on opponents.
If hunter’s ward procced the end effect at first shot then maybe the 45 sec CD is warranted.
as it currently is, its a 500 damage skill that roots you that no will catch almost no one with its “ward” effect.
this +1
Old virtues could be used while doing other stuff, and gave effects immediately (and better effects in the case of f1 and f3).
Longbow is inferior to Scepter+Any weapon (even shield).
Traits are inferior then other trait lines.
Traps are useless (the only cool one got nerfed from 25 vuln to 10).
No brainer here: do not spec to dragonhunter.
We have inherited launch Ranger.
I was hyped for lb, but this was a disapointment for me too. The traps are crap, lb is slow, buggy, weak. Not enough dmg, no useable utility, and no acceptable condi stacking even… i tough it will be better atleast in 1 perspective….
I thought at least virtues+trait could have been good. I mean, you can use DH without traps and longbow, but you can’t use it without the new mechanic (virtues) and traits.
Traits are underwhelming and new virtues are simply worse then old ones.
And yeah, traps are worthless and bow is inferior compared to Scepter/Focus, Scepter/Torch and even Scepter/Shield (yes, better knockback+barrier)
The problem with spear of justice is that it’s a projectile, is way slower and you can’t use it while doing other skills. It also gives nothing to the group. Now that burning stacks intensity the normal virtue of justice is way stronger. You basically give burning attacks to your whole group.
Yeah, nobody likes Shiro’s healing for healing itself. It’s basically a damage buff + 6300 healing over 6 seconds.
I mean, numbers are not low, it’s just that 6 seconds is a lot.
I suggest that the switching of Legends and Weapons happen simultaneously. And the player decides which weapon set goes with which Legend prior combat.
I can’t describe how much this would be stupid.
Also if you want that, just make a macro with any macro software, so that you can make it work like that for yourself. It’s not hard to make a macro with [F1+~] if you need it.
I’m using Shiro+Sword, Shiro+Hammer, Jalis+Sword and Jalis+Hammer, and I don’t want my options to be limited just because you’re unable to manage 2 swaps.
I also use S+Staff both with shiro, swapping to staff only for utilities.
Legend swap has completely different reasons for weaponswap. Learn to play the class first.
yet it’s vital for Revenant and no better solution has been provided.
Talking about these: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/hot/Modrem-Snipers-too-OP/first
Reflect and watch them burn. Well, not every class can do that.
Graphic is fine on my tower, but whan I tried on my laptop I suddently had a huge framerate drop in Verdant Brink.
It seems it’s due to the smoke effects. Any way to disable them on low spec computers?
I love them. I love all the mobs in Verdant Brink.
It’s how pve should be.
Bump. /fifteenchars
Energy is a limit, a wanted one. It’s there so that you don’t spam skills randomly. If you learn to manage it it’s not a problem and legenswap suffices.
Atm the problem are skills like Jalis taunt taking 50 energy. The problem is not enery generation but energy cost on some skills.
we need reflects, a reliable source of protection/invuln (Jalis elite is not usable in wvw) and some serious cleave to be useful in the blob. Atm it’s ranged dps or ranged support.
if Jalis gets fixed Revanant can become very useful in the blob. Atm just no.
Yeah, I’ll never release him.
This whole equal gender NUMBER thing is an insult to gender equality.
Plus with more elite specs in the future there could be more females.
Why? I want legends to be chosen because of other reasons, not gender equality. Who the hell cares, it’s a game, have fun with it. There are many important female figures in GW2, you don’t need an equal number on Revenant.
Plus if Glint is the elite everyone will use her, so she’s already more important then the other ones.
Am I complaining because the elite is female? Who cares?
If male and female are the same, why are we counting them?
(edited by Kidel.2057)
Why? I agree with you. I’m just not going to say that Shiro is crap just for the healing, lol.
Please stop saying that WS needs to be tied to the legend. Play Revenant correctly and you’ll notice that this is a bad idea.
And stop saying that weapons are tied to the legend, this is a lie. Lying is a bad thing.
Sadly he has the Worst heal in the game. 1.5k with projectiles that are limited in too many ways. The only heal that can be blinded, blocked, evaded, reflected, destroyed, obstructed, Line of sighted ect. So if he wants to be my bro he better step up his craptastic heal.
I’m not as negative as you, but it may be improved, yeah
Been trying Tempest in Verdant Brink, full shouts, horn and overloads.
It’s amazing. High survivability despite being full zerk, a lot of easy to access reflects to see mordrem archers kill themselves, a lot of healing output.
In the same class you have damage, survivability, partu support.
Currently the best elite spec. People asking for a buff just want an easy game.
How can you be disappointed with the strongest Elite spec in the game? Go try Dragonhunter lol.
Ele was already insanely strong, and Tempest is a nice topping.
Hey Roy, any chance Revenant is going to get some projectile reflects?
Tempest has a really easy access to magnetic aura and I’ve noticed that in Verdant Brink there are some mobs that literally 1-hit kill with ranged attacks. Trying the tempest and timing “Shock and Aftershock” correctly I can make them kill themselves.
So with Reflects becoming so useful, is every class going to get a chance at them?
Buff: virtues, bow AA speed, traps
Nerf: nothing. The only good trap has been already ninja nerfed.
Lol, not to mention that even Shield has a better knockback and Focus has a 3-hits block+blast finisher.
It’s way inferior to our previous ranged option. How does it improve Guardian? It even has crap virtues.
I am so beyond disappointed with dragon hunter. Everything right down to the name is awful =\
Worst part is that Guardian already has high damage and high survivability, while DH forces you to lower it (crap traits) and you get way less survivability because no good virtues and eventually no focus or no good utility skills.
Chronomancer
Adds 1 shatter. No skill removed compared to Mesmer.
You get something more.
Tempest
Adds 4 overloads. No skill removed compared to Elementalist.
You get something more.
Reaper
Swaps the old shroud with something way better.
Dragonhunter
Trades 3 amazing instant virtues with 3 slow virtues with crap effects.
I wouldn’t mind this handicap from Guardian if at least traps and Bow were good, but they’re not.
Here is my personal Revenant feedback after the last beta weekend.
First of all, thank you for your work on this class. The general feeling is that it feels much better then before. This thread is meant as constructive criticism.
Every class has issues, so I’m not going to address small things like 12k dps of the Revenant vs 17k dps of the Elementalist. That’s small balancing that will be figured out eventually.
The purpose of this thread is to address some serious issues about Revenant mechanics and lacks.
However, again, this is intended as constructive criticism. The dev team is doing a great job listening to the feedbacks, and I hope they keep doing it.
- Overall
As I said, the general feeling of the class has improved. Shiro added some nice and cool tricks, and sword is by far the best weapon out there, but the other weapons are still good after the buff, with hammer being the ranged one, staff being the tanky/support one and mace providing fire field and blast (it wouldn’t hurt making it a mid-range weapon however, just for some more variety).
Some of the new traits are really good and impactful, but only on damage.
Revenant still has no tanking legend basically (how is Jalis supposed to be tanky? I don’t really know), and Mallyx and Ventari are a mess.
tl;dr: Revenant needs more survivability for PvE and WvW (impossible to go frontline atm).
Also energy seems too low on Revenant, many skills should have a reduced cost, as I said. On Shiro all the starting energy is gone with just the healing and 3 weaponskills. It’s a waste since the legend has such great mobility skills, but many times it’s just better to avoid using them have Impossible Odds and Jade Winds ready. And that’s true even if we just auto-attack.
I’ll get into detail for each legend/issue.
- Legendary Assassin Stance
This is great. Only problem is the heal, that is simply too slow. I get it should be used offensively, but 1500 base heal with 1s cooldown between siphoning hits is not really helpful (most of the times some stacks even go wasted). I’m currently using it mainly for Fury trait, resorting on Jalis for real heal. If 1s icd has to stay, then please make it 2500 base heal with less heal on hits.
- Legendary Demon Stance
Some serious issues here. Most important: conditions from opponents destroy us. We get no resistance or cleanse from multiple stacks, so we are forced to equip Jalis that has the only fast cleanse of the class.
It was impossible to deal with conditions absorbed from NPCs or big groups, I had like 4 hours of cripple from surrounding allies and 2s of resistance from it. This legend doesn’t seem designed for pve, or it’s designed to go along with Jalis. It may be intended, so no big deal.
Intensity stacking conditions are also a mess. You get no benefits from extra stacks on you, since you only copy 1 stack and the 3% boost from trait lines applies only to different conditions.
Possible solution: set a limit to the conditions transferred from allies, so that if you already have that condi, you don’t get another stack (or you can make extra stacks useful, even duration stacking).
Cleansing Channel is 1 condition every 10 seconds, and forces to give up to Fierce Infusion, that is amazing with Shiro’s healing skill, and gives Fury, that is needed to trigger a 7% damage bonus. Fierce Infusion is the only reliable source of Fury.
Mallyx should be able to manage condition without forcing to give up a lot of damage for an insgnificant boost.
Same for the trait line. 3% damage for each condition means that if we get 10 stacks of burning we still get only 3% damage boost and only 1 stack of burning transferred.
- Legendary Dwarf Stance
50 energy on Forced Engagement makes no sense, as well kitten on Rite of the Great Dwarf, and Vengeful Hammers should help to tank (a defensive boon on activation maybe?) and should not explode on walls or hills.
Rite of the Great Dwarf could benefit from a cast time reduction and/or a longer duration.
At the moment I’m only using it as emergency stunbreak, then i cancel the skill because it’s too long, and then I’m forced to legendswap because it took too much energy. I won’t mind an effect reduction in exchange for less cast time and maybe less energy consumed.
Vengeful Hammers is a little bit misplaced on Dwarf as it is now. It’s only a damaging melee upkeep. It needs some defensive boon, like Protection or Aegis (only on activation or every x seconds, otherwise it can become OP). So that hammers are really protecting, not just “scaring”.
end of part 1
(edited by Kidel.2057)
Lol, I’m doing the same. Only way to use Jalis elite decently.
However I noticed you can even channel it while dodging.
I’m saying the weapon sets are clearly meant for specific channels
No, no, no.
NO.
I agree. I’m not spamming it ooc as I wanted, expecially in Verdant Brink.
Pvp players are not easy to trick, and those traps are pretty weak in pve compared to other skills. Only the vuln one is decent but got nerfed
Virtues are the most underwhelming thing. A huge downgrade from guardian. And traps pale in comparison to the utilities we currently have
It’s very strong. Don’t ask for something even more OP
Misunderstood the poi. Ty.
How can you do only 1 skill when even elite only takes half energy?
It’s not extra damage, it lowers your dps compared to just AA. And you also spend energy.
Turns out it does hit stealthed foes, tells their location. And it’s good damage, it’s not like you are always close to your opponent.
The stealth thing is interesting (but maybe a bug).
The good damage is simply not true. Do the math, AA is much stronger and free.
