I doubt it. The main healing capabilities of the Rev come from Ventari and its tablet. Depending on how large and involved your fights get you may find yourself being spread thin trying to keep up with everyone’s health.

With the annonced changes to Ventari, it can definetely become very useful in every game type.

It’s currently in my top 3 legends.

Class runes usually have to do with the main boon/condi or the class mechanic.

Gonna have to go through this again, but not a single one of the runes directly deals with a class mechanic. Runes have to be usable by other classes.

They get extended or generalized but indeed they have to do with it.

It may work with legendswap AND weaponswap.
Or it could be something Fury related, as I suggested. Fury is usable by everyone, but it’s central to Revenant.

I agree with BlackDevil. However dwarf rite is potentially op. If you have enough accumulated protection with Glint, plus Jalis 20% damage reduction upkeep, then you can reach almost 100% damage reduction under dwarf rite.
I still need to test it, because it’s strange that you get 0 damage. I don’t think it’s going to work this way.
It’s the first thing I’ll test in BW3.

I think it’s a percentage of a percentage what you already have added on it. So for example if you would have 50% damage reduction you would have another 25% by RotGD adding up to 75%. Probably doesn’t work exactly like that but I think that’s more accurate than just simpily adding up numbers.

That’s a lot of work to put in for just a short duration of so much damage reduction. That, while you’re still vurnable to CC seems a bit over the top. Just look at endure pain. 0 Damage for about the same duration as you would have +/- 100% dmg reduction but with just 1 skill instead of… 3? And you will actually be able to do something during that period, it’s a stunbreaker and it’s instant cast. Getting the combo off you mentioned, takes either a CC on yourself or a legend swap, elite and utility skill. That’s at least 100 energy and +/- 2-2.5 seconds you would need to get around 5 seconds of nice damage reduction. That honestly doesn’t sound very exciting to me.

Uhm, may be.
100%-50% = 50%, 50%-33% = 33%, 33%-20% = 26.4% (even changing the order the result is the same), so a total of 73.6% damage reduction.
Without dwarf rite it’s only a 47% reduction, so even like that it’s pretty strong. Goes alone from 47% max reduction to 74%.
If you add frost aura then it’s 76%. Given that Revenant also has a lot of damage mitigation with healing on skill use, Regen and siphons, you basically take no damage for 5 seconds under Protection+dwarf rite. Add shield 5 and sword 3 and here you have 10+seconds of invuln.

The difference with endure pain is that dwarf rite is AOE. You give that huge defense bonus to the whole group. Imagine giving that bonus to a Guardian.

However I still want to test it.

Revenant Worries: Master of All Trades?

Every supporter has a function now.

Herald is the master of traditional boons, plus drarf stance def bonus and demon stance aoe resistance. Ventari has good support too.
Guardian is the only class with access to Aegis and now can shield everyone behind the new f3.
Tempest has easy access to auras and aoe heal/condi cleanse.
Thief/Chronomancer/Scrapper have a lot of stealth.
Thief and Reaper have many debuffs.
Warrior has banners.
Druid will probabably be support oriented, with Ranger alrerady providing unique buffs with spirits.

A party with all the classes is probably the strongest. Unfortunately boon limit is 5 and not 9-10.

I’ll power level him to 80 for sure, then i’ll procede to explore the world at least for the Hero Point and Waypoints needed for the herald (I’ll unlock it first tho, and i’ll leave behind mallyx since in pve i do not see the urge to unlock it).

Anyway Tomes on lv 80 won’t give any exp, just shards ;-)

Same. As I said in another thread, Mallyx is the only legend that also requires Corruption to work properly, so it’s the most expensive one.
I’ll unlock Herald, Invocation, and Devastation, and then Glint, Shiro, Ventari and maybe Jalis if I have enough points.

Would you consider adding 3 sec of resistance for the legend switch trait?

If they do I hope they don’t remove the condi cleanse on legend swap that we already have.
1 condi cleansed >> 3 seconds of resistance. We already have glint’s heal and siphons to mitigate intensity stacking condis, we need something to cleanse cripple, chill and slow, lol (Shiro has it by the way).

Hammer 3 was kinda nonsense before, but now it’s perfect since it has an invulnerability frame that makes it useful in many situations (it’s free damage)

Tank and support.

  • Healing skill is pretty solid. 3 conditions removed, good base heal (4600), plus retaliation.
  • AOE stablity (unfortunately you need to be standing in the pulsing aoe, while in the past it lasted longer)
  • taunt+slow
  • upkeep is a skill that activates aoe rotating hammers that deal damage and reduce physical and condition damage by 20%
  • elite is rite of the great dwarf, an aoe skill that makes 5 targets around you (and you included) made of stone for 50% reduced damage.

Nobody said “only”, but those are the baseline ones. Of course, you can roleplay as a Revenant who is unable to channel Shiro for some reason, but in the game and in the lore every Revenant can learn how to do it (mechanic-wise, by spending hero points, lore-wise by training enough).

What you’re saying now is not so wrong, but what you said before is very different. You said that for you is stupid that a Revenant has always a channeled legend and that is stupid that everyone is channeling Shiro at the same time. Both those concept are in contrast to the lore of this game, that you clearly don’t know enough (and you even accused me of not being a roleplayer, while you are the one lacking knowledge). You can pretend to be in SAO for what I care, but you can’t force your personal desires to the development.

Of course there are more legends that you can summon, look at Glint, it’s an Elite Spec, so it’s not a baseline legend for every Revenant.

However I think you should read this again

Whoa, now that’s devotion. What does each bag represent? I’m going to throw a guess in. Pumpkin = Mallyx, Box = Jalis, the 2 bag = Glint. I’m guessing the leather = Ventari (LOL!), and Purple bottle = Shiro.

Am I right?

Ahah, almost. Glint is the bottle and Shiro is the bandit bag.
The bottle has that “glamour” color and egg shape. Among all the bags in the game it seemed the most fitting one, and it’s also unique for your account.

Same, but GW2 is a fantasy world where magic is real. Ritualista are common knowledge in this universe, nobody would think you’re insane.
Also every Guardian is basically Jesus, so not a big deal.

Even if the Mists allows communing with many at once, it’s still the power level that plays a huge role. as a serious roleplayer you never ever touch anything powerful or even well known Characters. Like saying you are Buddy with Destinies Edge, or you was the one who shoot down Zhaitan, being a descendant of Durmand and so on.

The Shiro, Malyx, Glint, Summons feels more for an Important Character like Rytlock or the pact commander. non important Revenants would maybe summon not so strongt/important person, like Reyna or Talon Silverwing

You still don’t get it. If you are a Revenant you know how to channel THOSE specific legends, you have been told how to do it. And the more they are important, the more they are EASY to channel.

Please, try to study and understand how the mists work and, most importantly, how Revenant works (Calcifire even linked the blog post). You are a shame to roleplayers.

With or without a condi build, Mallyx is not even worth over Jalis if you don’t have Corruption. It’s incomplete without some traits. Damage wise and resistance wise. While Jalis is perfectly fine with every spec.

What… Jalis does literally nothing for a condi build nor does it much anyway. The only good thing about jalis are the hammers. The rest is basically just lacking on so many things. Just because it got nerfed slightly doesn’t mean it’s absolutely horrible. Hell, the condition output on it’s own has been increased. The only thing they nerfed is the immense spike condition application you could gain in team fights.

That was not the point. Jalis, Ventari and Shiro can be used regardless of the trait you choose. Mallix is crap without Corruption, regardless of condi build or not.
I am mainly using Shiro/Glint with Invocation/Herald/Devastation.
I can simply swap in Jalis or Ventari when I need more support or survivability, but I can’t do the same with Mallyx, at least not without replacing Devastation with Corruption.

The purpose of Mallyx over Shiro is Resistance. You don’t get much of it without Corruption.

Even with Corruption you pretty much have to trait Adept for additional resistance eitherway. But yeah, valid points and hopefully will be adressed.

Thanks. That’s another issue. If you use Corruption with Mallyx there is no reason to pick any other adept except the resistance one.

I don’t think I entirely like this solution. The skill is still -8 upkeep and now has a short radius and is still destroyed on bridges or not flat ground.
He also said “last iteration”, but I don’t think he was referring to BW2, since I didn’t notice any difference. They were still awful in Verdant Brink.

Revenants have hand glow by design. “There were never a request to add the handglow in the first place to any legend” because they had it from the beginning. The one missing on Ventari was a bug.

Rytlock the first Revenant introduced and also no of the inital artwork or sceenshots had any handglow at all, so you can’t say they were desgined with this. It looks more it was later added for you know PVP

And from your comment i cant see you as a real roleplayer if you don’t know of the impacts of something like colored burning hands all the time.

yeah, totaly gonna make sense every Revenant you met will channel this IMPORTANT and POWERFUL person of the HISTORY.
In Roleplay you are usual not the Chosen one who is Commanderof the Pact and deals with all these powerful and important characters

Hand aura missing on Rythlock may also be a bug or simply they didn’t think about it YET.

However from your comment I get that you know nothing about GW2 lore and you clearly don’t get how the Mists work.

You should study the lore before even thinking about roleplaying, because yes, you actually can have 2000 Revenants channeling Shiro at the same time in Tyria, because NONE of them is actually Shiro.
Even in the official Revenant-lore blog post they explained that Revenant legends can still be alive somewhere.

Also have you ever done Fractals of the Mists? That’s the only instanced dungeon where instance mechanic and lore make sense (factoring any MMO).

And yeah, you are ALWAYS channeling, even in your sleep.

I still have some problems with the class, but the customizable legend is not one of them.
As long as every skill is useful and usable I’m fine. With recent changes on Jalis and Ventari, every single skill may be useful and worth.

We don’t have customization on single skills, but we have 10 of them compared to 5 of every other class.

Here we have some polish changes for the profession. It was brought up on the forum as a suggestion to have a custom dodge FX and that got added as a direct result.

  • Added an effect to dodging.
  • Added a hand glow when invoking legendary centaur stance.

And whats about the out of combat/idle stance hand glow?
Please say you shut it of, or else this class will become uselss for me as an Roleplayer

And see, now I’ve got a problem with that. As a non-roleplayer, I don’t want to lose my hand glows.

If you’re wanting to roleplay as a non-class person, then why not just play a class that doesn’t have such effects?

Being a roleplayer has really nothing to do with that request. It simply has no sense.
I’m a roleplayer too byt I have no problem with hand glow.

So that’s just his personal taste on the matter. Being a roleplayer or a non-roleplayer has nothing to do with hand glow. And at least I’ve never seen any Elementalist roleplayer making that kind of request.

Same reason as the dodge roll for thieves, it serves no purpose other than looking cool, and some people like this sort of unique flavor effects, which is why they suggested them in the first place.

that not correct, there is no thread ever were people asked for it, at all. this thread only mentioned that Ventari has not a glow but every other legend. This are two different things. One is a request of it, the other is pointing out that something is missing others have.

It wasn’t a request, but a bug report.
Ventari was supposed to have hand glow, like every other legend.

And if you’re talking about the dodge effect it wasn’t a request, again, but an idea, a suggestion, and the dev liked it and used it.
There have been like 300 suggestion on this subforum, but only one got used. Devs don’t take orders from us.

The purpose of Mallyx over Shiro is Resistance. You don’t get much of it without Corruption. And also condi copy and increased torment damage are only aviable via trait now. Mallyx is 80% less effective without Corruption and any condi damage build requires Mace.

In the last beta I’ve used Invocation/Devastation/Herald, and I’ve swapped in almost every legend according to the situation (much like what we already do with utility skills). Mallyx is the only one that doesn’t work like that. Ok, now at least you don’t die of self condis without Resistance, but what you get with the trait is too much convenient. I still think some Corruption traits should be baseline (condi copy and Resistance).

With the change to Shared Empowerment it’s very easy to reach permanent 25 stacks o might with no rune of strength. 18 to the group, 25 on self.

The only problem with Mallyx is that it still requires Corruption. It can’t be swapped in without it’s corresponding trait line, like Ventari or Jalis. This means that Mallyx is the only legend that can’t be used with Herald/Invocation/Devastation

I’m honestly tired of this Mallyx whine. I had decided to basically never use Mallyx outside PvP and roaming, but now I’m probably going to use Mallyx/Glint over Glint/Shiro.

UA was a nerf, ok, but a needed one.

Everithing else is simply better. It may have lost SOME flavour, but before Mallyx was a PvP-only legend. No group content (or even pvp teamfight) was fit for Mallyx. Only solo play or roaming.
PvE mobs don’t put enough conditions on you and every group contant with a Guardian or an Elementalist basically screws your whole strategy, clearing all the condis on you.

Mallyx is still pretty unique, with strong torment (that will be almost like a burning with the upcoming trait) and lots of resistance. It’s the only thing in the game that is not made to deal with conditions by clearing them, but resisting them.

If the condi output is low, just give feedback and it will be increased. Maybe.

Longer cd with extra 2 seconds so 12 total now.

I’d prefer a 10% damage reduction much more.

Why? With sword I never use 2, with shield 4 and 5 are both situational and don’t always need used off cooldown. UA was really our only skill with the weapon skills worth using off cd. We are just auto attackers really

2s more on cd is better then 10% reduction. The skill is already weaker then AA, so it has to be worth the energy.

Adding cd is a smart move because it doesn’t lower too much your sustained dps, but you can dodge less frequently

Thank you for adding the new vertical camera slider.
I can finally set “adjust camera to character height” without impacting my vertical field of view when camera is far AND I can also zoom on my character to do screenshots or see my gear skins from a close distance from heat do feet.

Honestly I spent 2 hours yesterday trying to achieve the same result and it was impossible, and today the patch.

No, it doesn’t have capture point prevention on it anymore.

That makes a difference then. Still not a fan of rooting, but with this I feel a bit better about it. Absolutely a step in the right direction then.

I get however that by a design point of view an “hibernation” is actually supposed to root. A speed buff to reposition would not hurt the design however.

While it does roots you, it is a long block that also heals you for a long amount. If you could move while using this skill it’s power would need to be brought down a lot.

Yeah, I think I get it, that’s why I’m simply suggesting a short speed boon after it, so you can at least reposition faster

If you’re standing still, and they’re standing still waiting for you to become unrooted, they’re a sitting duck as well, no?

Or they can heal up or stack might. An Ele can even do both in 4 seconds.

Or use unblockable attacks on a sitting duck.

In regards to the Engi shield. Yes, the shield was clunky to use since it caused rooting, but gaining access to the shield required giving up a utility skill. The other 4 skills on the kit may not necessarily been used either.

Shield on engi is not a kit. You give up to nothing or, well, to a pistol, and it’s not a big deal. With Revenant you give up to sword or axe, it’s the same.

Rooting was a bad idea on engi and it’s still a bad idea.

You can find similar heads, but not the same, with the same angles, scales and so on.

Its just a dragon head.

Dude, are you blind? It’s the same dragon head of the “2” logo. It has been traced, just removed the horizontal part.

Ok, it seems that the skill will still root you. How about 2s of superspeed after the skill ends without being canceled? So we can run away or reposition after, gosh, 4 seconds of lock in place.

Also I don’t really get the “no point capture”. It’s something that is usually on invulnerability skills. This one is simply a block and we can’t even move.

Just got a huge lag spike (998 ms) on 206.127.159.215:0
I was perfectly fine on 206.127.159.201:0, usually on 80 ms average ping.
