The heal is good, but it only takes some chill to destroy it (1 freeze granade). Needs AT LEAST to allow movement and take no damage from previously applied condis
It takes ONE Freeze Granade to shatter it.
It needs mobility or a cancel possibility or a way larger breakbar.
Yes, even soft ccs work.
It’ll be great firing that into a reflect.
That skill has 5 seconds of cd. You can reflect maybe 1 if you’re lucky. A Berserker just needs to wait for your reflect to go down and can spam 3 in a row before you’re finished recharging. Or can just move so the the barrier is not in the line of fire.
That projectile is not even that slow, and it just needs to hit 1 target to connect with everyone. No 5 targets limit.
The fact is that every primal burst is weaker then normal bursts, because has shorter cd. This is right. But this rifle primal burst IS. NOT. WEAKER. then rifle normal burst. Period.
And not only it’s not weaker, it’s OP.
Also this reflect thing is bullkitten and solves nothing. What if you really reflect it? It means that the enemy broup has basically been PKed by a companion.
So Berserker will be the meta again. Keep it alive, reflect the other berserker, don’t make them reflect yours!

Yes, I’m sure players are going to just stand there like that and that having pure damage and no sustain will totally be game breaking.
Even if you try to do the same with any other class you simply can’t, except with Ice Bow on ele, and look, that is also broken, lol.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/Rifle-primal-burst/first
I made this screen myself, it’s not from livestream. Any skill that has 5s cd, and does 6k damage UNBUFFED and in pvp gear on countless targets is simply broken.
All the other primal burst skills pale in comparison. Have you seen Bow?
If their aim is to make primal bursts a weaker version of bursts but with less cd, then they have failed on rifle.
Again: 6k AOE with no target limit, unbuffed and in pvp gear
I actually disagree, my way around this is OOC, run nature/fury/swiftness.
This will stack up a ton of fury and swiftness (talking 1m+ if you not fighting for awhile), and then when you enter combat you can just use the actives of fury/swiftness and use the might stacking and still gain energy for weapon skills(or even run regen if you want) … then just use fury/swiftness if for some reason you get low
Using fury facet onlyy ooc means you probably won’t have fury when you swap to the other legend (not really a great idea to stay on glint) unless you doubletap nature.
I prefer to stay in regen + swiftness ooc and then start with dragonbreath and fury+might in combat, with healing ready when needed and no energy debuff, then I swap to Shiro 5-6 seconds later to get another 6 seconds of fury and eventually doubletap nature. This way I can easily have daggers + quickness + fury + 20 might all by myself. Bursting all the way.
Once Shiro’s energy is over I swap back to Glint and everything is (almost) recharged.
Of course, activate facets second effect before swapping.
I like it too, but I understand their point of view. In some situations where you need to dodge aoes it overlaps with the red circle and distracts you.
Also think about colorblind people.
Jalis hammers are still bugged and useless on bridges or near map obstacles.
Also Elite skill got a nice buff, but the strunbreaker there is kind of luckluster, since it has a huge cost.
And I’m not even bothering using the taunt one. It costs too much. At the moment the only reason to use Jalis is the healing skill, so it’s a wasted legend slot.
I’m using this one and looks pretty solid: http://en.gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAsein3guNSuQ7JRboVlsP0rS4IaWJ4EdskFNFidMppNtBYBRwugJshA-TBCBABGt/gFHCgKV/5MlgAcCAyS5Xe6DC4JAEA4A43+23fDc+5nf+5n3v/+7v/+bpAiYMA-e
Any offhand except shield is useless if mh is sword. Any 4-5 skill will just lower your dpos, so the only useful option here is the extra survivability (and might, if traited) from shield
So if the room is not large, or has obstacles, jalis is useless and our highest dps skill too. Sure, keep it this way
Just spam ice bow 4. Everything else is trivial
Better then guardian’s elitevsignet aura. At least this one doesn’t jump with you
2nd facet effects are great. I’m not liking crystal hybernation making you unable to move and still being considered an invuln in pvp point capture, while it’s not. The healing is nice
Cleansing channel and fury on legend swap are 100% effects now that legendswap has always a cd however
No might, please nerf.
This thing can be used every 5 seconds and also applies burn to countless targets.
6k aoe in pvp gear with no might + burning is stupid. Could be worse then ice bow.
EDIT: just to be clear, this is not a screen from the livestream, but from the beta yesterday. If their aim is to make primal bursts a weaker version of normal bursts but with less cd, then they have failed on rifle. 6k AOE with no target limit, unbuffed and in pvp gear is broken.

Unrelenting assault and Vengeful hammers still fail close to walls.
Phase smash still fails on enemies too much below the character, even if aim ring is green and AA connects.
Or you can only unlock 1 legend+2 specs+herald at first, using 120+20+170=310 points of your 400 points from lv 80. You can even unlock a third spec and a third legend if you want, or simply all the legends and 2 specs + herald. Just from lv 80 points.
You can farm for other traits later. For the beginning I’m sticking with Devastation+Invocation+Herald + all the legends. I’ll get the other specs later.
Also 170 points is not confirmed. It can easily be way less, since that would almost require map completion for everyone to unlock it . Think about it: there will be more elite specs. If they’re all around 170 points then you can’t even get enough with 100% map completion, and it almost needs twice the effort even if they add more hero challenges. 340 hero challenges are a lot.
(edited by Kidel.2057)
Think of the Legends as Utility Categories like with the others Professions.
Shiro is Traps, Jalis is Survival, Ventari is Shouts. if you only spent a few points into Shiro, you only get 1 or 2 Skills in the Legend. If you want the whole legend, you have to spent the points for every skill like with the other Professions.
Basically this explains it pretty well.
So basically all or nothing because you can’t have cross legend skills and the more you put in the more expensive skills are meaning you will unlock less skills than another class.
You will unlock everything besides elite spec by level 80, just like any other profession. The order you choose to unlock them is up to you. You can mix two legends early on to be able to equip two legends and use a few skills of each on each. Such as unlocking the heal and first utility skill on two legends, then switching back and forth between those two legends.
Thanks for clarification. Haven’t leveled new char in the new system at all
A bit of a side question but @level 80 do Tomes of Knowledge give xp towards mastery?
they didn’t in the beta.
Revenant doesn’t have the Aegis nor the barriers to fit Guardian’s role.
It’s explained more in the books however.
Yep, at level 80 it will be comparable. Not so at lower levels. At those, you will be incentivized to max 2 legends first, before starting to work on others – otherwise you will end up with theoretically unlocked, but unusable utility slots.
You know that you can get hero points from hero challenges, right? You can always farm some of them and unlock every skill you can in every legend.
If you only count points from levelup, you have 2 options: spec into everything and gain more options but less skills equipped at the same time, or focus on 2 legends, getting the same number of skills at the beginning, but progressively more towards the end of your levelup (as soon as you can get 3 skills, revenant gets 6).
Either way you still have some disadvantages, but also some advantages. It’s not a big deal. Nobody is forcing you to play revenant if you don’t like a different approach on little things, but honestly, skill progression is fine.

I agreed that fury is not hard to get in a group, but 25 might is even easier.
It’s not fury vs quickness, but fury vs might, and might is a very easy boon right now.
You can already het 20+ without Nature Facet SOLO, and probably more then 25 with Nature Facet.
I agree on scholar being the best however, in a fairy world where you get no damage or where every boss dies in 20 seconds.
(edited by Kidel.2057)
or zerker+valkyrie. More power.
Shiro from the mists is (probably) not his soul, but just an iteration of Shiro through history, an echo.
Revenant legends may be still alive in the world somewhere.
People are also doing multiple fractals of the mists at the same time. It’s the mists.
“A fractal is a natural phenomenon or a mathematical set that exhibits a repeating pattern that displays at every scale.”
So we have already seen objects from the mists that can repeat themselves and exist in multiple iterations or copies. You can also meet scarlet there, even if she’s dead, but also when she was alive.
(edited by Kidel.2057)
Superior Rune of the Pack has no damage multiplier, and I’ve already explained why str is not better. Your reasoning on fury can also be applied on might, that is way easier to stack. 1 Revenant alone can get 20+ permanent stacks of might (thanks for ignoring half of my post so I have to repeat it) without factoring the fire field from mace.
Also I don’t want to swap my gear for solo situations, world boss, roaming and so on. When you’re alone rune of rage is the best option (but also when you’re in a group, see above).
Why is everyone always picking Runes of Rage? Wouldn’t Scholar be better? You already have perma fury with Glint and you get 10% modifier from Scholar instead of 5%. You don’t see Rangers running Runes of Rage when they have perma fury, they go for the Scholar ones too.
Rune of rage is to achieve perma fury.
Having perma fury on Glint means 50% uptime (at least if you don’t plan to stay on glint all the time, which is a bad idea). With rune of rage you just need 10 seconds in Glint to stack enough fury to keep it permanently in the other stance, even if you pick cleansing channel. You also get pretty decent fury (or permanent fury with the other trait on healing) if you don’t have Glint at all.
Also permanent 5% damage is pretty good. Scholar runes require full health, I never liked it, because you lose dps when you need it most.
It’s an incredibly strong trait, what’s the problem with it exactly?
Also why did you have to ask Roy on twitter if it had an ICD? It says in the skills tooltip that it does..
I checked the wiki.
Didn’t notice. :\
Does it really matter?
Shave the blast from fire combo fields to 2x instead of 3x might boon in all PvP
Adjust fire garb/ring of fire
this would nerf every class, not just ele, basically leaving ele on top again. Nope, remove blasts or fields from necro if you have to, or simply trim down the numbers, or move things from ele to tempest.
I still remember the famous ice bow nerf.
“we decided to buff every ice bow skill except 4 so that players don’t use only 4”.
NAILED IT!
So, I can’t go into much detail on things quite yet, but I just wanted to reassure you folks that we’re actively discussing a number of issues that are affecting balance in PvP – including, but not limited to elementalist sustain/damage. Per the usual, we’ll be talking to you folks about the changes once we’ve finalized them.
Sorry I haven’t been that active on the forums lately – we’ve been pretty busy around the office.
“Thanks, Grouch. You’re the worst!”
Edit: Also, just because this is an elementalist thread doesn’t mean we’re only looking at elementalist, and it also doesn’t mean we’re only looking at doing nerfs.
Not only pvp please.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-DE8It42yQI
^ this basically makes every other class USELESS in a pve group.
Similar things can be said for Mesmer.
It’s an incredibly strong trait, what’s the problem with it exactly?

With other classes you have half the skills equipped. Example: if you unlock only 2 skill for each category in a normal class, you can only equip 4 of them, and the same goes for Revenant, since you can equip 2 legends with 2 skills each.
is Crystal Hibernation viable in pvp? How about the fact that you’re locked for 4 seconds and if you get 3-4 cc you are basically dead?
https://twitter.com/RoyCronacher/status/638745194767122432
Q: does Assassin’s Annhilation have an internal cooldown?
A: yes, 1 second
So let’s discuss what’s the better GM trait for that slot.
To clarify I wasn’t suggesting a tank build, but just a correction on the build already provided by OP. Basically this is still a dps build with some survivability options here and there, a tank build would have used jalis over shiro at least.
Might is not really a problem once herald is out, you can have 16-20 permanent stacks on your own.
(one with nature (3 stacks), facet of str (5-6 stacks), shared emp (5 stacks), unrelenting assault (7 stacks), optionally nefarious momentum to keep gaining might with shiro, or sigil of str)
In a group with 2 heralds you basically end up having 25+ permanent stacks, wasting many of them. I usually have 25 stacks in pugs when I’m on my guardian, and I get 3-4 myself with my setup.
However the issue is not “can I reach 25 might?” but “is it better to have 3 more stacks of might or permanent Fury?”, because rune of str basically gives you very little more might, while rune of rage basically gives 60% more fury uptime, leaving room for cleansing channel, so condi cleanse on swap (that is very useful since shiro+glint has no condi cleanse, except cripple/slow/immobilize).
If in a pug you can’t full your might stack, imagine fury. Very few skills give fury, that is mostly a self-buff, except for herald.
(edited by Kidel.2057)
That’s a pretty solid build. However you could even be more tanky with actually more dps.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vlAQNAsein3guNSuQ7JRboVlsP0rS4IaWJ4EdskFNFidMppNtBYBRwugJshA-TBCBABGt/gFHCgKV/5MlgAcCAyS5Xe6DC4JAEA4A43+23fDc+5nf+5n3v/+7v/+bpAiYMA-e
Superior Rune of Rage + Glint + Invoker’s Rage means 100% Fury uptime, so 10% more damage (rune 6th + trait) and 40% more crit chance. This allows you to gear for 52% crit chance, since it’s enough to reach 100% with food or a Warrior banner, or a Ranger passive effect (and go over 100% if 2 of those 3 things are in place), and use your remaining slots for Valkyrie or Cavalier stats.
Overall Fury is not a common boon compared to Might, so Rune of Rage really shines on rev.
As for the weapon, I’m probably going with Shield as melee off-hand (for PVE at least). Sword 4 is good, but 5 is useless. Also Shiro+Glint has some serious healing problems, and the 6504 heal from shield skills is something that can be worth the energy cost. When you talk about tank/support on Revenant it’s either shield or staff. The only thing I don’t like on Shield is the lock on skill 5, but it can change eventually, as it did with Engineer.

HoT Price Feedback + Base game included [merged]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Kidel.2057
anet $50 US
for
2 armour set, 3 legendary, 5 weapon set, 4 map,
+ legendary backpack, armor
1 new class
7 new weapondo you really think it worth $50?? don’t forget core game will be free.
so $50 only for HOT..really? i can buy i brand new game for that.
60 unique skins, 175 guild hall decorations, 2 guild hall types, 1 wvw map, who knows how many raids, 1 new pvp mode, who knows how many pvp champions, 1 pvp legendary back, pvp leagues, mastery system, 9 new elite specs, 1 new class.
And I may be forgetting stuff
Also “4 maps” means nothing, in good or bad. It really depends on the contents
Still unsure. I really want to, it’s just that last time I played it in the BWE it felt so horribly slow… Besides, I like to play all 3 games modes, and I have yet to see how does the Rev fair in all of them…
Guess only time will tell
Slow? It’s pretty fast for a heavy armor class. It’s slower then Berserker but faster then Guardian. Infinite superspeed/swiftness, low cooldowns, unrelenting assault. Hammer is slow, sure, but hits like a truck.
On the specialization page of the Heart of Thorns website, the Herald is being shown with a dagger in his right hand.
So dagger was a thing?

It’ s mh with oh shield too, so it’s not an elite spec (you can’t have 2 at the same time). In an earlier datamined version revenant had dagger instead of sword. Pretty sure you can still find it in dulfy archive
Revenant is a HoT feature, you have just pre-purchased HoT, but it’s not out yet.
Guardian for 3 years, going to Revenant because it’s what I’ve always wanted.
looking from far it’s an eye, looking closely is a man out of a portal/rift
However f2p is a little bit an exaggeration. That’s more like a free trial. The amount of restrictions is insane compared to a normal f2p.
I’m not saying this should change. I’d like even more restrictions.
There are like 3 restrictions… What are you talking about?
there are 3 branches of restrictions, each one with many of them
What if legendary armor could remember each rune that had been put into it, and allow you to select from that list? Of course, this would be individual for each piece.
When an ascended can’t even remember its own rune before statchanging in the forge, I don’t see this happening soon.
A thing like that would need a complete change in the legendary data structure.
https://twitter.com/RoyCronacher/status/637781113126023168
Here our boy is talking about “roles”
We can start theorycrafting about tank, healer, dps and so son. Of course more specific roles (like tank+cc) are a bit different, but just a bit.
Are we really discussing the implications of theorycrafting? Live and let live guys.
If you still are not convinced: https://twitter.com/RoyCronacher/status/637781113126023168
How do you call something that does cc to not take damage?
How do you call something that does cc to drain break bars and doesn’t take lethal damage meanwhile?I call both forms of tanking.
And that’s just your definition.
Mine says that a tank is someone that forces enemies to attack them instead of their teammates, so said mates can focus on dps.
And I dont see that happening.
The only way you could bring a tank in to the game is if the boss’s basic attack’s one shot’s a zerker with a protection buff, but in doing so you will also create a need for a healer and we then say welcome to the trinity
In one of the previous POI colin said he’s not against the trinity, but against specific roles for specific classes
However full zerk is already pointless on herald and reaper who can reach 100% crit rate without maxing precision
It’ s mh with oh shield too, so it’s not an elite spec (you can’t have 2 at the same time). In an earlier datamined version revenant had dagger instead of sword. Pretty sure you can still find it in dulfy archive
