WTB an EoTM forum….
Speaking from an NA perspective only:
Over the last year a large percentage of the GvG/Roaming/“For the fights” type guilds have been transferring up in tiers, with the majority settling on T1/T2. As long as there are 24 servers there will always be a few running on every server, but if the trend of the last year continues then most of the WvW crowd will be stacked/jammed into 1-2 tiers.
I only say that because after our group moved up we saw and have continued to see many guilds from lower tiers that did/are doing the same thing.
All my (insert aspect you like to play here) friends say T1 is best (insert aspect you like to play here)……..
-Generic quote from an anonymous T1 zergling
TBH I solo roamed every week in S2, and I saw nothing to brag about from them. The skill level in this game is so very low, that arguing who is “best” is kittened. oPP was fun to fight, but you are talking about one guild from 3 server’s worth of folks.
My advice to OP would be try a Bronze server, but I would go upper Bronze/Lower Silver. These people from ET/AR/Kain are just looking for warm bodies, they do not care that you will contribute next to nothing toward PPT, and the fights you find will be mostly on EBG and depending on your playtime could be few and far between.
Source (previous servers):
NSP>ET>SF>BG>JQ>RoS(EU)>Maguuma
Bronze just beat the rush and start heading to Silver…Not trying to troll, just stating the games population has shifted considerably and people have for the last year probably moved up in tiers far more than down due to the fact that there just aren’t enough people to
go-aroundkarma-train blob 24/7 for 24 servers.Fixed.
It is fun to make up stereotypes…Just like how bronze is full of bad players with no one else to fight….I know there are some PVdoor karma train servers, not denying that…But some of the most karma training I have ever done occurred on Bronze servers. (no resistance to stop the train)

Lol I didn’t say “PPT is the only thing wvw is about” so relax man. I guess my point was that clearly the devs intended the scoreboard to be a central component of the format. Obviously, the weekly matchup competition was intended to be the main focus of the wvw format and it seems that isn’t going to change.
-The devs did not intend on GvG’s occurring but they did and still do.
-The devs did not intend on OS being a map for duels/gvg’s but it is.
-The devs thought that Bloodlust would be the next big thing in WvW, it isn’t.
-The devs thought that massive 80v80 battles with stunning graphics would be a good idea, but the game engine can’t even come close to properly handling it.
-The devs thought people would enjoy being outmanned and that “wvw isn’t supposed to be fair” would go over well with the player-base.
-The devs classify WvW as PVE.
These are just a few examples of how out of touch the situation can be, so saying that “the devs intended” really, sadly, does not hold as much weight as it should.
WvW is a sandbox, it is what you make of it.
GW2 must be getting a lot of new players still…That is the only reason why I could ever think anyone would still believe that:
A. Rank has anything to do with skill
B. PPT is anything but an asinine metric that measures population more than anything else.I didn’t make any statements about whether or not I believe it is a useful metric. My point was that clearly the scoreboard (and being on top of it) is what the wvw game format is about. So, with that said, if you hate it so much, what are you doing here? If I thought it sucked or that it was “asinine” I would just go play something else instead of griping about how i wish the game was about something it isn’t.
Saying that PPT is an asinine metric does not mean that one hates WvW, it just means that one understands WvW…..
The simple thing is that WvW week-by-week is getting to be more and more about fights and less about ppt…You can control fights to an extent, in large part you (individually or as a guild) have little control over PPT in the grand scheme of things.
(Yes that means all those pvdoors are worth very little in the grand scheme, coverage rules wvw in PPT, not skill, not effort).

Did you know siege can affect queue size??? So do you really want siege affecting that if it will not decay?
GW2 must be getting a lot of new players still…That is the only reason why I could ever think anyone would still believe that:
A. Rank has anything to do with skill
B. PPT is anything but an asinine metric that measures population more than anything else.If you think PPT is “asinine” why would you even be here? PPT is how the wvw competition is scored. Capping and holding territory is what this part of the game is designed around. If you don’t like it, you’re clearly playing the wrong game.
Look at you new boots! PPT is the epitome of asinine. Coverage is the name of the game in regards to PPT, so coverage = “wins”. So if your server cluster does not have coverage: you do not win.
Notice the word skill appears no where in there. I am here to kill players in an open field environment. I do not mind that some of them still feel that PPT is “important”, because those are some of the people I am filling my bags with.
Fights on the other hand can be (if properly done) independent of coverage, and therefore playing for fights can be done without regard for PPT/“winning” on the scoreboard. I am not naive enough to think that there are more people playing for fights than PPT, but I am not stupid enough to deny that the difference is much closer to the middle than it was even 1 year ago.
Please if you think PPT matters, you should post what server you are from and how much playtime you have. Because I would highly doubt anyone with significant playtime thinks PPT is a useful metric that relates anything other than coverage.

Returning to Guild Wars just for the WvW?
Leaving Guild Wars because of WvW – is more common.
Now if we could only get a few servers to “out coverage” BG, then we could have 200 posts a week about how “coverage is unfair”…..
Bump for a great idea, also addressing the WvW gear salvaging (even if only to get runes/sigil) is a great second topic as well.
Two words: Match Manipulation
2013 #1 catchphrase in Forums: Believegate
2014 obviously will be: Match Manipulation.
T1 and EoTM, including many other tiers in certain weeks was/is already “two ships passing in the night” two zergs passing by each other in order to move to the next pvdoor; and nothing has been fixed.
There has and will likely always been more emphasis put on players vs siege/walls/door than there will ever be on players vs players (read: open field engagements for the sake of pvp).
So all those weeks of Server 1 and 2 demolshing Server 3 from the dawn of Gw2 was “ok”? And all those little servers who screamed this from the get-go were told to: recruit moar, L2P, get organized, etc. But now that it happens to the (formerly) Top Ranked server in the game, and it is suddenly wrong? Where is all your “advice” for things you knew nothing about then, but apparently do now? Oh that’s right, your method of correcting the problem is coming to mama ANET to save you…..
Quoted for visibility:
In my opinion, disinterested because I am on none of these servers, the match fixers who are 2v1 Blackgate are doing the lord’s work and saving WvW.
match fixers who are 2v1 Blackgate
doing the lord’s work
saving WvW.
A coordinated 2v1 will help in the future dealing with servers who think things like: stacking, warchests, recruiting offpeak to exploit PPT, etc are the way to go.

WvW Season 2:
Weeks 1-3 Hordes of AP/PVE/Fairweather 1-pushing every Enemy/Door/Ambient/Pve-Mob.
Weeks of 4-6 #1 ranked servers asserting PPT dominance.
Weeks 6-9 WvW as usual with a few sprinklings of #2/#3 ranked servers duking it out to see who will get a few more greens as rewards.
Leagues are an epic failure to me for the following reasons:
-They flood WvW with people who really don’t want to be in WvW, and the retention of said players beyond 2-3 weeks of Leagues is little-to-none.
-PPT in itself is riddled with problems, and it is a flawed system at best, a complete failure at worst. Building a “competition” out of such a metric only further degrades the game-mode.
-And finally, and perhaps most importantly: Leagues feel like more of a “reason” to play WvW (from an ANET standpoint). Which IMO is a terrible sign for the longevity of the mode. Leagues make the other weeks leading to and after WvW even more pointless than they already are/were. (again from a Scoreboard/PPT stand point)
WvW should be able to stand on its own without relying on Leagues/gimmicks to get players to play. If not then it needs to be revitalized and improved upon.(not likely). New maps and revamping the PPT metric to accommodate population swings would be far greater improvements to WvW than leagues ever will.
D/P will continue to be broken as long as HS and BP are easily spammed. D/D took a significant hit with the Ferocity changes. Bursting is much more difficult.
I would be cool with it if they took the gap closer out of HS, and left the dmg output. Without the gap closer there would be less ability to just spam HS at certain points in the fight…Hopefully forcing the player to logically use their skills.
My point is that big dmg is fine, but big dmg that also negates a lot of an enemy’s kiting ability is what makes it questionable.
The ArenaNet tag functions the same as a guild tag, because it is one. To fly the tag, we have to rep the ArenaNet guild. So, no, we can’t rep a guild and display the tag at the same time. Anywhere you would normally see somebody’s guild tag, you would see the ArenaNet tag, if an employee is representing the company guild.
Can I get a guild invite please?

JFC JFC JFC…..This game has been around for a while now, and for the entirety of that time it has been a 2v1 in WvW….1&2 vs 3….In 90% of the matches I have taken part of the #2 server realizes that #3 either:
A. Can’t pull its own weight
B. Is a much easier target than all the T3 fully upgraded junk than that of the larger #1 server (with likely many more defenders)
EVERYONE knew this, and OCCASIONALLY you would get a QQ post about it, and people would give the standard: recruit moar, try harder, stop QQing….
Now it happens as it probably should have from the get-go, (#2 and #3 ganging up on #1) and its a travesty…Seriously, 3/4 of the people in this game are the problem with this game…I am done blaming ANET, nothing will change, but when I read posts from people QQing about double-teaming the most stacked server in history its just enough.
If you don’t like getting double teamed transfer down and destack that garbage tier and finally give this sad state of the game some relief…..
Anybody find it more than a little ironic that a game mode based upon PPT needs to ignore PPT in order to be fun? That sounds to me like the definition of broken.

Blockhead Magee is right, many of us don’t pop our ArenaNet tags when playing. When we do play with it on, it tends to act as a beacon that draws the enemy in like moths to a light bulb.
We are out there, even if you don’t know it.
#shocking.
I totally agree with the OP.
And would add:
WvW is balanced through PVE, condis do not affect PVE (since most play power), therefore condis won’t get balanced until 3/5 threads in this forum are QQing about condis.

Killing time, also cannot be called an alcoholic if I drink with my 50 friends on Mumble, right???? So there’s that…..
Mainly just waiting for something better that offers openworld pvp, probably around June.
Who ever thinks ranger pets are OP are obviously unaware of the ranger class in general and most likely if they WvW its on lower teir servers. I play on TC which is a T1 server, I am a main ranger. I play vs other rangers, we are not seen as vital characters in WvW due to our low utility.
Ranger pets are very weak, they only offer a short moment of CC. There are Beast Master rangers who make their pets very strong but in turn the ranger itself is weak. If ranger pets are doing super high damage on you focus the ranger. If they are knocked down they can’t survive.
Theifs are a rangers worst nightmare, especially the stealth theifs. I noticed a theif on here is the one who is crying about ranger pets. This is why I feel this person has no clue what they are talking about.
Do some research and stop crying, next you’ll say Warriors are so underpowered?
The two things we learned in this thread is that reading and sarcasm detection are more OP than Ranger pets.
I loved math in school, specifically geometry and proofs. When I see a post like the Megaserver System my mind auto starts processing/predicting future progress/pros/cons/effectiveness etc. And I have a few predictions as to the progression of this thought process.
- Servers for PvE and PvP will basically no longer exist.
- Therefore servers will mostly be tied to the wvw community only.
- Currently there is a HUGE gap in the wvw skill lvl of servers, causing good ones to get over populated and vice versa.
- Solution: merge the entire wvw community into 3, more balanced equal sides…
- …similarly to how edge of the mist is…
My prediction is that the wvw battle will simple be blue/green/red with a lot of instances, and the megaserver tech will pick one for you, the same as it would for pve. No more queue, ever. I think server rankings will determine which color a server is on. So people won’t need to hop servers for wvw because each server will be fighting with the help of 1/3 of the servers.
So, am I a genius or just crazy?
TL;DR WvW matchups will be like EotM.
As I said in another thread prior to this post, I feel as though the EoTM concept will be ANET’s eventual answer to the PPT/Population/Dying Server issues within WvW….I do not think they will merge all servers into 3 colors though. Mainly because I think they understand that “server identity” (or Community) is something people have gotten used to.
I think it will be some variation of EoTM, basically taking the idea of incorporating servers into larger alliances but still keeping their singular identities at least somewhat.
Timezones don’t matter….You people always get hung up on Ocx,SEA,NA,EU, etc….Pay no attention to people that say “at night”, “while we sleep, or while we are at work”…NONE of that matters….
What does matter is the population variation, be it in regard to server or time in a matchup. If you have 50 people that play consistently on an “off-peak” (in regards to PPT not timezone) situation, their “time” is worth far more than that of the hordes of players that pile in and queue maps in the “on-peak” (again in regards to PPT not timezones) sections of the day.
If servers A/B/C all had “decent” coverage for 3/4 of the 24hr day and next to nothing the remaining 1/4 of the day, then it is likely the matchup would be “somewhat” close.
However, if Server C has a decent number of folks that are playing during that 1/4 of the day (where no one essentially is online for A/B) then those people in that 1/4 of a day in Server C are worth a great deal in the current system.
NA prime time is too zergy for PPT to matter I say we lock down servers for NA and EU and let us Aussies play the game without the rest of the world telling us we are not aloud to cap things while they sleep.
I understand you are being sarcastic/trolling but you kinda sound mad…..For every 1-2 people that say dumb things like “lock PPT during NA night” (which is what I am sure you are referring to) there are 100 people giving meaningful solutions/ideas for improving the situation in those same threads.
TL/DR: Stop getting mad about one noobs posts, and realize that there are options that can improve the landscape of WvW and actually make the score matter.
My guess would be some kind of alliance system akin to EoTM, but in a varying degree. Most likely something aimed at dying/falling servers, or just the population imbalance issues in general…I may be being too optimistic though.
For what it is worth I hate EoTM, I would rather see them tweak the scoring system than physically alter who we play with or where we play.
Last night DB got into some threeways with SOS and Mag at EB and we had some decent skill lag there. So no.. it’s not gone. It’s just not as strong as it used to be.
It’s not skill lag per-se either. It’s selective disabling of AOE skills that aren’t attached to weapon auto attacks. Any single target skill (warrior stance, self heal without AOE) still works but any AOE skill (guardian “Stand Your Ground”, ele 25pt burst heal, engie heals, grenade kit, etc) gets disabled.
This is why the skill lag sucks: it fundamentally alters the way classes work to conserve bandwidth. My raid leader last night was on a guardian and lost his survivability to skill “lag”. If skill lag is truly necessary to make sure servers don’t choke out then ANET needs to lift a few restrictions on skills while it is in effect:
Elite skills and self heals (skill 6) should never be disabledWell that’s it really. Arguments could be made for every skill that fits someone’s build. Its just the self heals and elites that should be spared from disabled during high traffic situations.
Yeah I pretty much always rely on (traited) Virtues now, because I know I can count on them activating in the biggest fights. Whereas shouts are very hit or miss during the heavy skill lag periods. So its pretty much a lot of standing around and Staff #1 while waiting on virtues to recharge, then retreating if it gets too hot…..Its pretty ridiculous to say the least.
Wow, I guess we will have to wait till we see proof of the prime time pudding.
Hats off to Anet if they have fixed skill lag.
Fingers crossed
Skill lag/lag still exists, just get into a SM fight…..
Show us on the carebear where the mean ganker touched you.
Two pieces of bread ganged up on Bologna and we got a sandwich out of that!
The nicest, sweetest thing I have ever saw was 5 enemys (2 from one server, and 3 from another) having a dance party on a ledge near the end of the JP. I was so touched by their display of camaraderie and good-sportsmanship that I shed a tear of overwhelming joy as I Feared them all of the ledge to their deaths.
So here’s the thing, you have created a new build for WvW and want to test it out. What do you do? You go out and scout around for people looking for small fights hoping to not get zerged. Or if you are lucky, you find another person alone out in one of the maps, initiate a 1v1 fight and once again hope no one else joins in.
Or you go to OS, and find someone to duel.

Nice clicking bro.
Gold is locked up…post has to be ignorance or a decent attempt at a poor troll lol…
It wasn’t a case of hacking a gate. It was a pretty well known, illegitimate method to remove all defensive siege from the gate area, essentially regardless of its placement.
Honest question: what is this “known method”? I’ve never seen something like this before.
My guess would have been zoom hacking (most likely) with an AC or glitching into the structure and wiping siege(less likely).
Fact of the matter is this game has hit a wall of sorts, we will see what WvW updates and S2 have to say about boosting the population.
But a new game release, combined with lingering issues that have yet to be fixed (along with some fundamental flaws), has caused more and more players to trickle out of the game. Couple that with the natural shelf life of a MMO, and you begin to see the populations thinning out.
Lower tier servers have fewer and fewer players each month it seems, and the upper tiers are filling up with people moving up trying to find something better/different. It really just makes sense that the lower servers are feeling the hit first. Free transfers just really compound the problem. I know ANET wanted to give the lowest servers in each tier a “fighting chance” but what they really should have done is allowed free transfers to the lowest populated servers….That way the players could have at least had a say (with free transfer enticement) on helping rebuild those servers somewhat.
Handicapping has been discussed at length in the past. I (myself along with many others) was a big promoter of the concept and still think it offers the single best solution to population disparities within given matchups.
I hope that it happens one day, because I truly believe that you will always lose Pugs in lopsided/outmanned matches. However I also truly believe you lose more to “scoreboards” than you do to outmanned fights. (IE: Pug A doesn’t mind dying if the score is relatively close, but does mind dying if the score is a blowout and would rather do something else)
Unfortunately I have a feeling (after seeing EoTM) that ANET will try one of the half-kittened ideas of “server alliances/mergers” (not physical mergers), to where the overall match scores are calculated on server colors, or something along those lines.
Well when WvW is balanced by PVE, you start to see these little glaring issues pop up….Condi will likely never get nerfed, or rather properly adjusted, because people aren’t farming PVE with stacked condi….In fact you would get laughed out of PVE for running condi…So condi will be safe until such time as the playerbase stamps our feet enough to make the people that designed this game understand the inner workings of it.
Is this thread about real fights or wannabe sPvP fights? If we talk about real fights staff ele is strongest class and condi specs are useless.

I think it will get somewhat better around 4/4…
How about when you are bad, or make a mistake you simply are dead-dead? Instead of Second Chance Wars 2?
Seriously people, GW2 is a great game. It’s complex, interesting, constantly evolving.. and there’s more to do at any time than you could possibly get bored with.
I don’t understand why people are so negative all the time. Sure, give constructive feedback, but accept what is there and work with it instead of finding every tiny thing to complain about. Sure glad I don’t work for Anet and have to listen to the constant disparaging of my work.
I remember Commodore 64. Gaming has come such a long way, it’s really, truly amazing. The graphics and artwork are incredible now.
That we can even afford a computer and play a game such as this automatically puts us among the top richest people in the world. How about some gratitude and perspective?

Count your blessings in life and stop the QQ.
