Its not fully broken, its just because the Light Field effect did not last as long as the ring. I tried it before, if im not mistaken it only last for the first 1 second i think.

If this is the problem you can not generate Light Aura too… i think the problem is on the blast + LIGHT FIELD… i think arenanet broke something adding the new combo…

This would make hammer even better for dungeons run.

3)Vulnerability is a “boost” but you can always fill the boss vuln stack with other classes attacks… so it is actually less usefull in group play and more usefull in solo play.

What, so guardians aren’t SUPPOSED to be able to be offensively built?

Give me a break, OP. This game was originally made with the premise that no class would be restricted to a specific role. This whole stigma of guardian being ‘meant to be support’ goes completely against that and is the whole reason why the class has stagnated on the balance front in the first place.

do you really need me to repeat it again? Maybe it is because of my kittenty english i know… well i’ll repeat again:

“guardian is supposed to be one of the best support class in the game not saying that we should do 0 damage but simply that we should get more love to the support build (thing which is NOT happening)”

and ps: it is different “be able to build in more ways” than “build at average in all areas”…

But hey, we got an update on light field! Now we have Light Aura… it is wonderfull … i like it… really… BUT IT IS ANOTHER DPS BOOST! WHY? why do we need to spam vulnerability on hit? Why not a small aoe heal? Why not a small regen stack? Why not a small SOMETHINGOFSUPPORT!!!

Your example is bad. Just like blowing all Shouts at the same time for condi clear is extremely stupid. And since you used that “argument” to try to “prove” Medi is too good that needs a nerf on healing (like 2k heal is so OP, those 12k we would get would melt 2 secs after) so that support becomes more relevant (already is, Medi changes did not make Support any worse, if anything they might make it a bit better with Renewed Focus CD reduced, but too ltitle to notice, Bunker Guardian will still be wanted more than Meditation any day) somehow, I will end my contribution here by saying this.

Play Medi Guardian, it’s obvious that you never tried it deep enough to argue about it’s position compared to Support/Bunker Guardian. Support was allways in a good spot for Guardian and still is, even compared to other professions. Now they can support too which is great but they sure did not push Guardian off the table and they never will.

My example was an example and the simple fact that you actually get 12k heals, 20 sec fury and numbers of effect is simply… i dont want to say OP… but WRONG. Guardian is earning even more offensive abilities while it is supposed to be one of the best support class in the game and ACTUALLY it is one of the worst support and “not enough” at damage. At the actual state of the game the best support class are engineers (just look at boon spam and water blasts) and, if well played, elementalists.

And to reduce heals from meditations isn’t something of strange just follow me:
4 meditations = 8k heal
5 meditations = 10k heal
5 med (1.6k each) = 8k heal
got it? Also to “nerf” heals from meditations can actually help because in a game with even more zerg oriented mentality what whould you do with a “nerfed” dps? Go support, which is most natural thing to do for guardians. Not that we should do 0 damage but simply we should get more love on the support ability than dps.

PS: oh sorry but i actually play medi guard in pvp and … well heals from meditations is in a good spot… no wait WAS in a good spot NOW it is even more! It is not wrong the idea to give more heal, it is wrong to give even more heal on the same skillset!

I mean, come on! Why are all those people complaining about “oh now to kill mobs in queensdale is harder even if i’m a lvl 80 warrior full ascended madafaka!?!’11?!?!1” !

I really love this and while i can understand there maybe can be a bit more reward from equip stat (just a little) i absolutely love the actual level of difficulty!

Low level areas were never supposed to be “easy” for downscaled players! And the fact that now it is even more hard should make players want to group up! What else! That’s perfect!

Really thank you ArenaNet this will make the pve content even more challenging.

Guys … that was an “extreme” example… i know meditations have to be used with criteria… BUT spam them all togheter give you more than you expect! really… that is like an anti-panic button easy to use, with great results and devasting effects over enemies…

Now in order to make this thread a bit usefull for Devs here are some changes i would like to see:

-Monks Focus: heal reduce to 1500
why? because actual heal is so big, you can actually heal yourself for 12k in 1 sec while devasting enemies and curing condition and gaining fury and a coffe why not…

-Stand Your Ground
CD: 25 sec (20 traited) 5 sec stability & retailation
-Hold The Line
CD: 25 sec (20 traited) 5 sec protection & regeneration
-Retreat
CD: 40 sec (32 traited) 15 sec swiftness & 10 sec Aegis
-Save Yourselves
CD: 50 sec (40 traited) 10 sec all boons
why? SYG and HTL with 20 sec cd can give only 25% prot, retailation, stability and regen uptime. Do you think it is so much? An engineer can stack 30% prot uptime with 1 trait. Also the new Retreat can stack the same ammount of swiftness but the lower cd help us to keep it also for condi removal and SY… why 60 sec cd if it is already balanced to sacrifice ourself taking every condition around to only get some buffs? And it also got half duration in pvp! 50 sec are still too many but that would be a good update anyway.

-Sanctuary
CD: 90sec same effect 240 radius
why? … 120 sec cd? 120 radius? …

-Merciful Intervention
CD: 40 sec with the new teleport effect should be good if the heal stay on 2k.
why? 2k heal on a 40 sec (32 traited) skill is too much? it is about 62.5 hp sec even anti-toxin spay heals more!

  • Seems as if you only ready the first part and conveniently glanced over the second part…. It’s called an “And Statement” for a reason.

Smite & Tactical… why? Cuz we’re glass cannon Medi DPS’ers!

That’s not true at all. If you are sure of this then read other classes and look for “damage & support” in warrior’s description, finded? no? sorry but a warrior can support as, if not more, a guardian his party.

To add the sentence “it is a dps class AND SUPPORT” obviously shows the SUPPORT nature of the class simply because others don’t, got it? Well another example:

class 1: dps class
class 2: dps class
class 3: dps and support class
class 4: dps class
class 5: dps and support class

Which class is support? you will never say “no one” but “3 and 5” because they are the exception to the normal routine of “dps class”, and so is guardian.

Guardian isn’t master of anything, it does everything average.
Guardian isn’t excelling at anything.
Other professions can do what guardian can just as good if not better.

I disagree…they are the best at team support…or used to be at least.
This is the purpose of the class. Anet should work on improving or adpating how they can do it. Not on making them bursty selfish players like thieves or wars.

The more allies you have around, the more effective support becomes.
Whenever you expect to be surrounded by a decent number of teamates (Dungeons, WvW zerg or even full roaming group, Spvp main bunker-support, …) meditations get easily outperformed. They are mostly for those cases where the allies aren’t there (sPvP roaming, WvW solo/duo roaming, …).
For PvE, the skillset they offer isn’t even remotely interesting. In fact, I find guardian selfish PvE capabilities somewhat lackluster (still better than many other classes tough).

shouts and aoe skills only works on a limited number of target which is most of times 5. So, no. In WvW or dungeon you get the same result from those.

Ok guys, before the thread derails let me explain. You are all right but actually only Aeolus got what i said.

The problem with the actual guardian is that while other classes got in the last few months buff and improvements to the supportive side we only got improvements on the dps side; the result? Now we are mediocre at support and not enough at dps… so while before we were “unique” for the support now the only thing we are unique is that kitten WALL only this!

then in order to avoid a wall of text i want to “counter” every skil set of guardian then you can tell me where i’m wrong:

consecrations: these are the only “unique” skills of guardian! Wall and Hallowed Ground are the only reason guardian are needed in party but, BUT these are only for certain situations… who will use a Wall in CoF? Then guardians are useless.

meditations: these are supposed to be the “dps” and gives you effects (teleports, burn etc), heals (2k), fury (4sec), all that with reduced cd and in 5x, really?

shouts: support? 3 condi remove on a 24, 28, 48 sec… and… some boons anyone can spam? … these are quite, QUITE good but as the main support aspect of this class them suck if compared to other classes!

signets: nothing to say; selfish and not usefull at all.

weapons: selfish and not usefull at all… but wait we got a 2k heal on bow! so now them are supposed to be “support”… because of those 2k heal… aoe… really… “support”… not useless… not a waste of space… now it is called “support”… nice.

I’m sorry guys if i look a bit aggressive but i can’t believe i started a class like guardian which is turning into a warrior… a mediocre warrior. And all this is going to improve the zerg mentality of the game… less support more zerging… less defensive abilities more teleports in the face of enemies which award you with heals and fury… well i think i’ll roll a warrior then…

I stopped reading after the third paragraph and went straight to the tldr, because wall o’ text is a wall.

That being said, why can’t Guardians be Selfish or Supportive? Seems like both are quite viable.

Just because I play a Guardian I have to be forced into support? That mentality goes against one of the driving missions of this game, which is to play how you want.

You should have read all … but a wall of text is a wall of text i know…

Anyway what i said is that guardian is being force to do DPS while is supposed to be a supportive class. I know that every class can become everything but if guardians don’t get something on de support aspect rather then meditation for dps other classes will surclass us in the only aspect we were … “unique”.

At the actual state of the game warriors can stack might faster, give precision, heal, regen, toughness, high damage while guardian have to go or full damage with 0 party support or full support with low damage and STILL LOW PARTY SUPPORT! why!?

G U A R D I A N is supposed to help party… now you can say arenanet want to make all rounded classes, ok! give guardian more offensive abilities but COME ON give us SUPPORT above all… i don’t even know why to play guardian anymore! And it is my main class! When i run dungeons/fractals all what i do is try to do the highest damage while support party with boons and… wall… but what i always got in party is:
elementalist which spam might like hell… and ton of damage
warriors which spam crit/power boosts… and ton of damage
engineers/rangers which spam every boon simply planting turrets/spirits

oh… it is becoming another wall of text… .

That’s right and i want to add: do you know why female asura share the same model as male asura?

This is because of Age Limit on games (every game is monitored for content by PEGI, or ESRB (for NA)) and to make female asura with a prominent breast will make the game “for adults only” or even risking sanctions because asuras are like “kids” and there are some limitation to kids related things in videogames…

Or, simply because not every fantasy creature has to have primate breasts and be hypersexualized for it. Charr also wear unisex armor, and they do not look like human children at all (not that asura do, either).

Clearly that’s because cats have an average life expectancy of 12-15 years, which would make them underage! Hence no bosoms! IT’S ALL A CONSPIRACY!

Now i give you 3 reason why those traits aren’t enough for the only “party support” skills we have (yes we have consecrations and so but those are usefull only in some circumstances).

1) Altruistic Healing works with shouts… well, so we got the WONDERFULL numer of 72 hp per boon per target (total of 2×5=10)which is… 720hp! WOW now we have 720 hp every … 24? and… 28? … and … 48 seconds! i think this is op…
The truth is that AH is good but not because of shouts but of staff and symbol spamming!

2)retreat? swiftness and aegis… on 60 sec cd? i can understand aegis can’t be on a low cd but cmon… 20 sec of aegis? i don’t think aegis can stand up more than 5 sec… and swiftness? 20 sec on 60sec cd? it is about 40% uptime (traited) which waste our other 2 traits because of those 48 SECONDS! yes a condition removal on 48 sec cd sucks!

3) all we got is 3 shouts over 5 skills now tell me if that is fair:
meditations: reduced cd, fury, heal x5 = 20sec fury (but you can use 2 more meditation and reach 28 seconds), 10k heal
shouts: reduced cd, heal, conditions removed = 2160 hp, 3 conditions removed

so you basically are telling me that
10k – 2k = 8k heals + 28 sec fury are the SAME of 3 conditions removed? REALLY?

i don’t know what to say… if i wanted all those dps and selfish play i’d rolled a warrior… but if it is ok for you… well done.

TL;DR
guardian is becoming even more selfish: group play? nah i have my meditations now!

I don’t want to criticize upcoming changes to meditation but the more time elaps the more i think we are missing the guardian role…

What i mean is: why all those buffs on meditation skills? I think meditations are the first skill type to get 5 slot in, really? So if I want to optimize my traits why should i use other type of skills over meditation when i get 5 out 5 skills which benefits from the same traits?

Yes, you would say: because meditation are selfish. And THIS is the problem! Why is guardian getting buffs on the selfish aspect?! Wasn’t guardian supposed to be group play oriented?

Now just to talk about what a guardian can do for the party as a SUPPORT class:
- might stacks (staff and stufs) -> every class can stack the same quantity or even more, and avene warriors now can!
- various random boon spamming -> enginers? elementalists? even rangers can!
- wall -> yes this is the only thing guardian are better than other classes…
- heals -> unless you are running a full healing power build it is pretty hard to seriously heal your party… even warriors got 1.4k aoe heal on shouts…

so what i’m saying is that guardian is loosing its support ability in favor of more selfish skills, why! I chose guardian because i wanted to be a support class not a warrior like selfish, high dps, immortal class.

Just few things about lasts updates to guardian class:
1) Force of Will: +300 vitality.
Why!? Tell me why this trait! Tell me why in honor! Who can use this trait whitout waste previous 2? That line was for shouts… meh i don’t want to know anything else.

2) New healing skill… another meditation. I have nothing against meditation skills and i think a lot of ppl like them for the ability to increase our dps… but why add one more!
It seems nothing but to have 4 meditation means: 16 sec of fury simply pressing them all… which is almost perma fury… to a guardian? really? not vigor (that’s another point), not regen, not protection, not might but FURY!

3) now we got 5 meditations! FIVE! o cmon really? so are you telling me we got 20 sec of fury? Now it is perma FURY or almost… now we got 10k SELFISH heal! CMON! and now we got reduced cd on … renwed focus! WHY?

4) Renwed Focus with reduce CD, 2k heal and fury… Now just follow me a moment, at beginning renewed focus was like: “you are immune to damage, you can stand 2s more against enemy attacks but this skill as big CD and the strength comes from the renew of virtues cd”; now it is like “save you but man! yeah!” Why should that skill refresh virtue cd in a meditation build! To burn for 3 more sec a target and get 10% damage bonus? Virtues was… a long time ago… SUPPORT! 0/0/0/0/5 was a MUST and that was fine becase guardian was SUPPORT… but now… someone say “hey, guardians don’t use anymore virtues in dungeons”… WHY should i use them! Maybe i use them but the party get nothing because 0/0/0/0/5 doesn’t exist anymore!

5) Vigore nerf -> this is not bad… this is the worst thing! we have low health pool and those dodges was usefull to keep heals up (with dodge) and avoid attacks… but hey, we got 300 vitality which no one will use… better than nothing i guess…

6) shouts are still here… sitting at their place since game launch… i love shouts not because they are “strong” or “easy” but because they give much party support… oh wait “they SHOULD give much party support”. All we got for shouts are: reduced cd, condition removal and, well, altruistic healing… really?

Asura females share most of the same armor models with the males because the human/norn/sylvari female versions are usually adapted for their prominent primate breasts. Since asura do not have those, the vast majority of female armor models would look awkward on them.

The Ancestral Outfit is a good example. It uses the female model on asura females, and we get this useless, out of place “boob window” on the chest that really shouldn’t be there.

Besides, as already mentioned previously, asura do not share the same concept of “sexiness” as humans do. Larger ears are your best bets when it comes to asuran physical attraction, along with a big head for a big brain. Asura will certainly choose a smarter partner over a good-looking one anytime; in the society they live in, intellect is what matters the most.

I, for one, think asura should continue wearing unisex armor. They just look better, and I really don’t want to see my mesmer in an ugly froo-froo skirt.

This shows nothing… an elementalist can destroy all those turrets in few seconds with meteor shower, or a ranger with barrage, or every melee classes with cleaves and even those over pillars can be break down with few ranged skills and also remeber that these cant hit under the pillar so there are plenty of safe areas where to sit e destroy them 1 per 1

ps: oh i forget, a team like this would lose easily even against a pug party. Why? All those ppl to cap 1 point? ilarious. This makes gw2 a REAL eSport: you can play the way you like, you can do those… crazy screens but if you don’t really know how to use your class… well, there is nothing you can do

3 – WvW and PvP

What makes gw2 really big is not the game itself… the world isn’t that big at all but it is the unlimited development possibility! Such a game which can don’t care about “level cap and new skills (etc.)” should focus on increase the number and variety of things! example: 6 pvp maps are good for a start… now developers can avoid to work on new skills, or new skills system… so why dont add … let’s say 1 map every 4 months?! It is a big time… if they did so no we should have something like 12 pvp maps not … again 6 maps…

For WvW it is a bit different because developers can’t add infinite maps because to have 10 wvw maps only reduce the number of player per map. So what to do? Just my idea:
change those 3 borders and make each of them unique and work on more maps like Hedge of the Mists but …. BUT smaller maps, why? Because hotm and those maps aren’t the real “WvW” maps and should get a lower population in order to allow a much more quantity, much more fun and so much more (and different) things to do.

TL;DR (part 3):
WvW and PvP in Gw2 should get new maps also with a very great shedule, let’s say 4-6 months, i don’t think the community care about “how many time” but more on “how many maps”. Considering a 6 month shedule today we should have: 6+4 pvp maps and 4+4 WvW maps.

Well, that’s all for me. I hope do you share my thoghts on the ideal development not to say that the actual development status is wrong or bad but simply not optimized for game typology.

Someone will tell me that this is only a waste of time… but this will be my last message on the forum (not because i’m leaving the game but because it is very hard to get our message to interested persons (devs)) so i’ll try anyway.

First of all i want to say that Developers are working kitten updates and with this message i don’t want to ask them more but only explain how, in my opinion, they can get more (and more love from community) with the same work.

Gw2 is a game based on player ability over level up and unlock mechanics. For example in games like wow the only think that makes you play over and over is to get better gear and so get better overal scores. The result is that developers have to work on new content based on level up and so make player grind more and more to get better.
Gw2, instead, is based on “play the way you like” and it is “skill based”. Infact you can get better gear but your overall result only depends on player skill. So here i’ll explain, again in my personal and insignificant opinion (then you are free to agree or disagree ), why Anet Devs are working in the wrong direction.

1 – Game Mechanics

Gw2 is based on player skill -> gear progression doesn’t mean better performance
so how to keep players interested in the game? It is simply and overal better than the most of MMOrpg: adding new playable and skill based content. What does it means?

Simply, in others MMOrpg developers have to work continuously on new content which force players to grind more, in Gw2, instead, all what players need is something of new where to apply and improve their skill. Those things are generally known as “dungeons”, or “raid”, or (in gw2 world) like “world bosses” or “fractals”. Those are the only way for players to apply their skill which is the only thing required by the game! THE SKILL! What, i believe, keep people play gw2 may be the lore (see point 2) but above all the game mechanics; they are wonderfull! On the other hand those mechanics can be wonderfull if continuousily applied in new ways but also boring if applied for the same content over and over and over.

So the first solution is: to work on “challenging” contet and don’t listen all those complainers (“the game is too hard!”) because they don’t even realize that this game is different from “old gen” rpg (based on target and click); most of them don’t even know that there is a dodge option…

TL;DR (part 1):
Focus more on challenging content (dungeon, fractals, world bosses) since the game is based on skill, not gear grind, and those are the only things which require “skill”

2 – The Lore

I have to admit i don’t even know the complete story of Gw2 universe… but it is fine for me, i love gw2 and the story i learned playing it. But there is a problem with the lore… a big problem which is derailing everything: excess!

Well the lore is a big thing the one which takes everything togheter BUT and i want to underline BUT there is a big abuse of this during updates. As said in point 1 what gw2 needs is challenging content! is the lore challenging content? no, not now at least. So, don’t we need LS anymore? No, we need living story but not such big LS updates if compared to other content. The story is something which is required by the game in order to make our world to be a “living world” but, BUT, what about add (with every patch) few, FEW, instanced content scripted ONLY for story and, instead, get more open world things aside those FEW story tellings areas? Just an example:

during the “nightmare court” LS anet did something of perfect: added a good LS update based on few instances (1-3 i dont remember) but with a surprisingly open world add: the nightmare tower. Well this is my idea of “update”. I don’t want developers to work 24h per day to realize 100.000 more “nightmare towers” but if we get 1 of that content per month… well after 2 years… there will be so many things to do… TOO MANY

TL;DR (part 2):
Living Story update are very important but, if anet decides to add them on EVERY patch, cut them! reduce the ammount of instanced areas and use those work to create the challenging content in point 1; players, i believe, will be much more happy.

I just catched the error log during a launcher crash which occurs when… i start the launcher. The error occurs with a 50% chance.

I’m running a 10 year old computer with much worse specs. Graphics don’t look the best but I can play everything just fine. If I’m just roaming PvE I can turn the graphics up and don’t notice much of a hit.

please notice that our are notebooks not desktop there is a big difference. Even a good notebook gpu card can be compared to a 10 years old desktop gpu…
Also i already did everything to increase notebook performance and the best i’ve got is:

texture: medium
shader: medium
character limit & quality: medium
everything else: low or none
+ sweetFX

and what i got is a good graphic (thanks to sweetfx) with those fps (30-60 few players around, 15-25 tons of players around)

@OP
If you have already this pc i suggest you to give a try with there specs:

texture: medium
character model & quality: medium (or low)
+ sweetFX active

few tips:
-turn screen refresh rate to 60hrz
-disable FXAA in game (sweet fx should be fine)
-optimize your pc to increase performance for your gpu and cpu (and also make sure to set you motherboard on “performance” instead of “power saving”)
-be sure to buy a good cooling system. I’m having some problems especialliy these days keeping my pc cold. If you cant buy one i suggest you to go in the bios and disable Turbo Boost option… that may look crazy but the difference in game in near 0 (maybe you lose 1-2 fps) but on the other hand you pc will overheat less and this will save your pc and your fps.

I’m getting a laptop soon. And wanted to now if these specs are good?

Windows 7 Home Premium
Intel Core i7-3610QM 2.30 Ghz
8gb RAM
720gb Hard Drive
AMD Radeon HD 7670M Graphics

Not to screw you but you will be able to play the game… with low settings and not optimal performance.
The only thing i can tell you is that i have a similar but a bit more power notebook and i can play with medium-low setting and get 30-60 fps in pve-dungeon-pvp while about 15-25 in wvw or during world bosses

here are my specs:
ram: 6 gb ddr3 1600mhz
cpu: i7 3630QM (2.4-2.3ghz)
gpu: nvidia 740m (2gb ddr3)
win 8.1 64bit

ive played almost 1 year this game and I dont play it anymore since is boring…

Dungeons: Nothing at all. In the past I could convert Dungeon tokens to equipment, but they are now obsolete, so I just have the tokens sitting there in my inventory.
World Events: Nothing at all.
Tequatl: 30 minutes waiting AFK for a 12 minutes battle to get nothing at all. That’s if I can join…
Wurm: Couldn’t even join an organised group yet.
Fractals: Got 1 Ascended weapon box once, no fractal skins. Not even before the fractal update.
PvP: When I was playing PvP, it didn’t even have rewards!!!
WvW: Nothing at all.
Living Story: Nothing at all.
Personal Story: Nothing at all.
Map Completion with 3 characters: Worst reward ever for the time dedicated to do so…
End of Personal Story: One skin worth 4 gold in the TP.

Dungeons: you can still convert token to equip… please define “obsolete”. Are you talking about the skin? You can always use dungeons rewards in many ways: only for stats, 4x in mistyc toilet, salvage them or simply collect skins

World Events: “chests” are luky dependent … it’s true but you always receive 1-2 yellows and that makes it the beast way to farm yellows for mistyc toilet or for glob of ectoplasm farm… it is fine as it is… otherwise you wouldn’t see so many ppl doing them

Tequatl: i don’t even know how many time ago you did your last tequatl but now i’m able to find tons of maps doing tequatl also 1-10 mins before the encounter… and what you got is incredible: 10k+ karma + tons of yellows + chance for mini tequatl + chance for tequatl ascended weapon + various drop from chest and boxes

Wurm: it is still hard to find organized maps… that should tell something to all those haters who say “there is challenging content!” … pathetic… but the reward if completed 1 time per day is great… while if you did it 1 time over the last 5 months… well it may be a bit “meh”

fractal: well it is fun as it is… but you need to play higher fractal reward to get good drops… from 10+ you get most of time at least 1 ascended ring per daily… not bad at all…

PvP: is full of rewards… skins, armor/weapons from dungeon traks, exclusive rewards (from other traks), tome and scrolls, trasmutation charges, random drop (i got 4 ascended chests from pvp), dungeon tokens and more.

WvW: if you got a good zerg and go for a long keep/camps farm you will end up with tons of bags (for random loot) in few hours and surely got some level up for extra chance to loot and don’t forget those tournament tickets

Living Sotry: it is supposed to not give “wonderfull stuff” simply because it is the normal story… what do you expect from a thing that can be solo completed in few hours? A legendary? On the other hand the most of time you get random drop chests… luck or not luck…

Personal Story: from personal story you get black lion keys + well… it is your story and shows the lore of the game… if you are not interested i think you are playing the wrong game, this is a mmo RPG and know the lore is the most important thing.

Map Completiton: wile low level maps only award few useless things (+ a chance for black lion key) on the other hand 70+ maps always give you 2 exotics + black lion key + orichalcum/ancient/etc, which is a very good drop (i did something like 20golds + 5 black lion keys while completing map for legendary).

Thats all.

Well… i’m again here to waste my time… (i’m really surprised to see so many answers to each of those useless topics… anyway…).

first of all i want to point out 2 rapid things:
1) YOU don’t know everything we can expect from upcoming feature packs… you barely know 2 thinks (pvp, some of them, and commanders changes) on a list of more than 10 points (maybe 15 if there are 5 points per week).

As gw2 wiki reported, living season started july 1st… and only 1.5 months have passed… so please don’t be ridicolous… 1/2 of living story? you crazy…

Now… in less than 2 months we got:
- 3 living story updates (of course)
- 1 new area + 2 updates on that area… now it is almost big as a normal map
- story journal feature
- dozens of changes in various maps including new events and new areas or destroyed by corruption ones
- elite achievement for extra fun
- and of course new skins in game and from shop and new backs

now if this is not so much in a 1.5 months you are free to leave the game i think that the community will be happier with one less complainer I don’t even know if you realize that those topics are a complete waste of time for the writer, you, for the reader, us and devs, and for those who answer, few of us. Please go play with barbie and live each day a new adventure.

But if they translated the subtitles for one language, shouldn’t they also do it for every other language where the game is available? All of a sudden they have hundreds of different languages that they need to hire people for.

It is also rather unlikely that people would be content with only translated subtitles and would demand translated voice-overs as well, which would require hiring a massive amount of people to do the voice-work.

for the start to add few new languages would be great! then, slowly, they can add new languages and cover everything. Also voice isn’t that important when you have subtitles and to add a translated version of every dialogue isn’t that hard… i know gw2 is full of story telling dialogues… but when the work on the already existent world is complete should be easy to add few more traslation to the 2 week updates… well at least i think so…

ps: still no answer from devs maybe it is because they are busy with the gamescon …

Translating a game takes time and a rather large amount of money (especially since it would most likely also require voiced lines to be translated), and as such spending said money (and hiring new employees for that very purpose (since they release new stuff all the time they would need constant translations)) might not really be valid unless they can guarantee that they will earn more than it will cost.
Which is extremely unlikely.

Even if the italian population of GW2 would double, that is most likely still not enough money to actually earn more than it would cost.

yes the cost may be higher than profit… but also translate only subtitles would be a great start…

Hello everyone,
i only wanted to jump here to remember ArenaNet that italian Guild Wars gamers love this game and we would appreciate very much an italian traslation…

now that almost 2 years have passed why not to deal with it?
Can I, please, get an answer from a dev about what they can/can’t do or simply if they even plan to add more languages?

I know that english/spanish/french/german are the most diffuse languages but i think that read the story, because this game is all about the lore, in our personal language is always something of special and i know that many italian well know english and love the english/spanish/etc. dialogues… but simply why don’t give others the pleasure to enjoy the game the way they like more?

I think that would make the italian population on gw2 to double… at least i’m pretty sure this game will become the most famous in italy since it is wonderfull but there are, i know, a lot of people which hate to play non-localized games.

Hello everyone,
i was wondering what if we get more active and fast, but shorter, defensive skills?
Just few example to better explain:

warrior -> shield -> shield stance
now: 30 sec CD -> block attacks for 3 sec
more active defence: 10 sec CD -> block attack for 1 sec

guardian -> shield -> shield of absorption
now: 40 sec CD -> push back + duration 4 sec + heal on explode block projectiles
more active defence: 20 sec CD -> all halved effects

mesmer -> feedback
now: 40 sec CD -> reflect 6 sec
more active: 20 sec CD -> reflect 3 sec

and so on… the purpose is to halve the duration but also the CD simply because this way you have to choose which single attack block or not to block. For example, now with warrior you press “defence stance” when under massive attack end block everything for 3 sec which is more skill less than use “defence stance” to block attacks for 1 sec simply because this way you don’t “avoid damage for 3 sec” (and so you get all the time to run away) but the reduced duration should make you think better on what to block…

what do you think?

Hello,
since the upcoming update (from august 11) will double the drop rate of black lion claim tickets and scraps… i was wondering if there is something of usefull (for our economy) we can do with this… but i don’t see anything at all…

first of all i used this drop table for comparison

ticket = 0.013 = 1.3% -> x2 = 2.6%
scraps = 0.253 = 25.3% -> x2 = 50.6%

now supposing i want to get at least 1 ticket i need somewhat like 100/2.6 = 39 black lion keys and yet i’m not sure i’ll get one (due to RNG)

Now with a bit of imagination… i want to use 40 keys and get 2 black lion tickets (at 1st and 40th) while in the mid i only get scraps with a 50% chance… the result is:

2 tickets
24 scraps = 2 tickets + 4 scraps
tot = 4 tickets + 4 scraps
gems used 3450 (supposing no discounts on keys from shop; 2100 for 25 keys + 450 (x3) for 5×3 gems) which is something like 450 golds (supposing 13 gold per 100 gems)…

now with all those “hypothetical” and “optimal” drops/prices/luck … we get
4 weapons for 450 golds. If we can sell each weapon for 100 gold (actually is it something like 70-80g) we only get 400 golds… -10% (from market tax) = 360 gold

there is something of wrong or this is no-sense? it is even better to buy them on TP if you want the skin… maybe the loot table is old?

PS: oh i forget, you get ton of boosters! :P

ok, now seriously… what do you think? is it worth a try?

Gw2 client crashes

Hello,
i don’t really know if this is a known bug but since 2 weeks (maybe 3) i’m having the following problems:

1) my guild wars 2 launcher “randomly” crashes when opened. I solve this problem launching the launcher (sorry XD) multiple times until it works.

2) the game crashes not frequently but still crashes. The most important thing is that yesterday (about 00:00 CET time) i was playing with a friend and we were on team speaker… suddenly the game crashed to me and my friend at the same time… so i’m pretty sure this wasn’t my problem.

Those are my pc specs (and my friend’s one):

OS: windows 8.1 64 bit (both)
CPU: intel i7 2.4-3.4 ghz quad core (i5 2.5-3.1 ghz dual core)
GPU: nvidia 740m 2GB DDR3 (both)
RAM: 6gb ddr3 1600mhz (4gb ddr3 1600mhz)

that’s all let me know if there is something more i can tell you in order to find the bug

First of all i want to apologize for my bad english and please read carefully and don’t take it too seriously.

I was not a big fan of guild wars series and i started play it with guild wars 2 release. Some of you can consider me a “fanboy” of guild wars 2… but you are wrong… i’m more like a “fanboy” (if you want to call me so) of ArenaNet.

I started this thread because i can only see complaining post on the website at the point that i (and i’m sure 90% of people) started visiting only the sub-reddit page avoiding the forum as hell.

So, i’ll now explain to those people who only know how to complain about the game how to play, instead, the game.

As everyone know, guild wars 2 is a Buy To Play (b2p) game which periodically receive new content (every 2 weeks). Now, since the game itself gives you a big (really big) freedom and the ability to enjoy the world or simply skip everyting and rush to lvl 80 and final gear i only want to let you know how to play the 2 week updates.

What to do (every 2 weeks):
1) login and save living in your journal. Do you want to play?
A)yes, stay logged and go on
B) no, quit and do something else. You can always play it later…

2) New living up. Look for personal story update and complete it.
3) Pay attention to the world because arenanet is really meticolous and you will surely find something of interesting for the lore, for the living or funny things (today, the are still people finding hidden places with funny/lore related stuffs… simply wonderfull)
4) Look for achievement. Some times they challenge you to explore every spot of the map and discover hidden places.
5) Look for elite achievement if you want someting of more challenging (some may consider them “easy” others “too hard” but continue read and you will find the solution)
6) now the story is complete… achievement done… but have you discovered every single new event? Maybe there is still something you forget… come back and play the map/area more times to discover if there are time related (or condition related) events… you will never know what you miss.
7) well all is done… have you look for particular drop? farm it… or buy it, it all depends on you
8) now it is time to play it with friends! Do you have fiends that can’t complete the living/achievement soloing them (point 5)? Help them… after all this is a MMOrpg, it is always more fun to play togheter… if you dont… well i think you are playing the wrong type of game (the right one is called “RPG” without the MMO prefix)

9) now you have done everything… a minimum of 7 days are passed (if you did everything and not playing 24/24 hours)… do you want to continue play the game… for fun?
A) yes, continue play with the daily routine and try the new content with every class… you willsurely find some classes more challenging and some others easy-mode…
B) no, well you can play something else… why to force you to play only a single game? Enjoy an FPS, another MMO or simply do something else… you already did everything on gw2 (for now!).

What to AVOID:
1) miss the lore update… if you are not interested in the story you are playing a RPG (ROLE playing game) without know your role… wrong start, fast end.

2) rush through content and burn it in few hours because you did nothing! you only killed few mobs (not even discovered them all)… learn nothing about story… got nothing from rewards…

3) use dulfy’s giude before try yourselves… dulfy alway do a great job with updates but use his/her guides only if you can’t do it without because, otherwise, you will miss the challenging part… and complete everything in few hours instead of days and days of tryies and hard work (maybe someone will find everything ultra-easy also without guide… i’m not one of them XD)

4) post on the forum your complaining about what ArenaNet missed… obviously they missed something… if they added EVERYTHING every 2 weeks the game was complete after exactly 2 weeks… no sense.

5) Be patient with bugs… the game has a lot of bugs but very few game breaking and usually they will be fixed as soon as possible… i’m not saying to stop reporting bug… i’m saying STOP opening useless topic like “oh my gawd this game suk becose i finded a bugz in the new area!!! game kittenz” (grammar error intented here because those topic are usually opened by kids and ignorant people) because they tell nothing to developers on what to fix. Also i (as arenanet developer) will be very frustated to see only those complaining on my game’s forum especially if i do this for free and with passion…

TL;DR:
less complaining and more serious bug/error/suggestion reports. The actual forum is the worst place to visit and i can’t believe gw2 players and arenanet allow those kids to destroy the primary place for the game news and player feedback…

well so the problem now is: which sigil combination will give you the best damage output?

i’m having some doubts about “which sigil will ensure you the best damage output”.
Now, i did some measurements on my guardian and that’s the result:

with 0 blood lust stacks:
GS AA = (average) 760 damage (1st chain attack only, without crit)

with sigil of force (5% extra damage) and still 0 bloodlust stacks
GS AA = (average) 800 damage (-)

with sigil of force + 25 bloodlust stacks
GS AA = (average) 850-900

so with force + bloodlust i get something like + 150-200 damage.
But, with sigil of air i deal about 1000-1200 damage every 3 sec = 333 + damage every 1 sec.

So how can be sigil of air > sigil of force + sigil of bloodlust? Is there something i miss or what??

Oh dude, that’s not right. Arena Net always do innovative and well designed things; just look at the megaserver system… it is something of giant and never seen before. You can say there is something of similar on WoW but the megaserver is really more complex, more variables = greater complexity = wonderfull results.

The problem, unfortunately, is gw2 itself. To create big world changing events is something of spectacular but at the same time server dependent (since more players = better results).

I have to admit… thinking on what i said… i don’t think the “channel system” is really so good because this will destroy (or make useless) the megaserver system… and i don’t think that Anet wants to waste all the efforts to create it… and they are right.

So i had another idea: why not to make these “big events” to scale with overflow population?
What i mean is:
if you join a server with 1000 players → (example with dry top) 30 events neded to reach T2
if you join a server with 100 players → 3 events needed to reach T2

Obviously the more variables we can add to the “scale system” the better it suits the server and so players.
AFK players (they should be kicked in less than 30 sec form these maps… there are plenty of maps where to park your char), player activity (how many events completed, per player, in the previous X minutes?), skill cap (how many players are spamming most of the time 1#?), achievement points (average players achievement points? more achievements usually means more experience). These are only few of the criteria that the scale system can use to improve player experience.

ps: i know that actually there is an event scale system but it does scale events only if players are near the event… but what if players are afking far away? All what you got is a server full of afker with 10 ppl doing all the work… not so good. So what i say is to consider such maps as a single big scaling event, with more variables of course to better suit the situation.

why not to introduce a “channel system” like many other games?
I mean megaserver i great but why not to add a list of avaiable servers with the current population inside?
Something like:
(megaserver name not showed but i listed them to show how do i think the system should work)
channel 1 = megaserver X = high population
channel 2 = megaserver Y = low population (you will probably be here)
channel 3 = megaserver Z = full
channel 4 = no megaserver → avaiable at creation

doing so you can always see the “best” server or you can simply organize events simply saying: “all come on channel 2!”

Anyway i’m not saying your are wrong… i’m pretty sure the problem is mine but i hate condition build (infact i play only power build for pvp (and pve) : warrior, ranger, mesmer, guardian and now engineer).

condition turret build should be fine… i think… but ill give it a try later, when i tried enough the power build to say “well i suck hard!”

i don’t know… maybe it is me… i don’t really like how other players use engineer class but this game is great because allows you to play the way you find better… i asked for help because i was sure (not really… now) that mine was a good idea for a build. I don’t know how many do you know about engineer class but i trust you.
Anyway i’m doing pvp with the last build posted and, it is incredible but, i’m really good. I alway go mid/home defend and i’m able to handle 1-2 enemies (while still kill them after a while). Also everything what i said (about “killed players”) was in me vs 1 (or 2 enemies) and never inside a group fight (because you can never know what you really did).

I know “turrets” aren’t for pvp (nor for pve) but i love the idea and maybe that’s why i can always (or most of times) use them properly… i usually die 0 times in a match and end with 10-20 kills range… not bad… not so good… but it is fine for me.

So, since there isn’t much i can do to improve my build, ill stick with it . Thank you anyway for tips and help… maybe a day i’ll try kit builds but for now… it is fine for me to kill them :P
