Staff damage is too weak, and its Healing is too weak for that to justify its weak damage.

Staff #2 is useless. It breaks the Auto Attack which is better, and the effects are weak and dont justify its use.

Staff 4 cancels on movement and is very weak.

IMO Revenant are lacking in damage reduction.

I am full defense build, yet melting like zerker without zerker like damage.

Also Rev should start with more than 50% energy.


Staff 4 need to be allowed to be casted while moving. and Need to add a Damage element to it.

Staff 2 is very weak, both in damage, and in effect. Needs an additional element that makes this useful to use. Cost too much energy and shuts down AA which is far more valuable than this. Perhaps add a self heal, and self protection/resistance to this.


Tablet need to auto reset on respawn in SPvP.

Need to provide better self defense.


Determined Resolution need to be greatly increased.


Forced Engagement need to have its cost and cast time REDUCED.

Rite of the Great Dwarf need to provide DAMAGE REDUCTION to self while casting, and Regeneration to self while casting.


Centaur Legend should passively provide Self Healing.

Legendary Dwarf Legend should passively provide Damage Reduction to self.

So I cant used Skill 6 at all, but skills 7-9 still allow me to push them, but they dont do anything.

I am liking Revenant right now. Needs some better damage baseline. The Ipad is fun, but needs better visual effects to know upkeep and location. Hard to look at energy and field of play at same time. Having some indication of the energy on the skill icons.

that would help.

also legends need more skills.. simple as that. They need more to pick from. I like my choices, but some of them arent as good. Some of the Elites need adjustment.

TL;DR The ability to swap between 2 sets of utility skills does not make up for the incredibly limiting weapon options.

This 1000X

Currently, every weapon feels very solidly stuck exclusively to a specific legend, which is incredibly restrictive and doesn’t feel very good to play.

I’d suggest One of two options to remedy this:

1. Implementing a system akin to the elementalist where each weapon has a different skillset based on your currently active legend. It would make being unable to weapon swap feel much less restrictive and give the revenant a better feel.

Currently legend swapping is borderline pointless due to each weapon only being designed to work with one specific legend, and being unable to swap weapons out of combat means that legend swapping in combat will only serve to alter your utility skills (usually a bad thing without adjusting your build accordingly first).

2. Allowing weapon swap on legend swap (ie, having a weapon in the secondary weapon slot that got swapped to when swapping legends, and vice-versa). This I feel would be the more practical and easy to implement solution, requiring the least development time while still making legend swapping in combat feel much better than it currently does.

I agree with some of the weapon skills being changed with Legend swap. What would be asthetically pleasing would be to change the animation styles of the skills too for each Legend.

I don’t agree with Weapon swap, IE #2 or otherwise, at all though.

Can anybody explain the reasoning behind the Elite Spirit nerf?

I thought the stationary aspect of spirits would only apply to the utility spirits like old times and not the Elite Spirit.

I still dont feel the buff to them makes up for the nerf aspect.

But for the Elite Spirit, the buff doesn’t come close to the nerf. Why was this done?

Spirit ranger was my thing. Always like support roles. But man this was a crushing blow. I cant find justification for the nerf like this.

I still stand by the idea of giving Revenants a weaker race themed legend with 1 weak unique heal, 3 unique utilities, and a elite skill for each of the five races as a Racial Legend.

Hey this is an Expansion class after all. So i am sure Anet has enough resources and developers for the Revenant to make such a thing for them without taking much awat from the rest of the Expansion.

this would simply add some uniqueness and immersion to the class for those of us that like playing around with Racial Skills.

Hi there!
I’ve had this problem with Bull’s Charge,Rush and Dash, basically.
Bull’s Charge and Dash (Rampage) are usually passing through the target. And the worse , sometimes it doesnt even hit it.I tested on a NPC.He was STANDING STILL and i used Bull’s Charge on him and it simply DIDNT HIT him.My char passed through it, didnt knock it down,didnt do any damage.
It also happens with Rush.My char runs towards the enemy,and performs a fail blow,hitting the air, although my target hadnt dodged.

BONUS : Is it normal that Earthshaker misses the target if you are on a bit superior ground than your enemy?

It’s a hard coded bug that Anet can’t easily fix.

It’s due to the combat mechanics of the game. It works differently from a charge skill in a game like World of Warcraft, which the server registers every move before activation is completed. So if Server say its ok, the skill is use will activate full effect regardless of position of the character.

In GW2 since its action based, all actions have to be checked server side individually, so that means your rush skill is checked on the dash part, then the attack part separately, and both may not be seen as positive returns. Hence, you go through a target and the attack part fails, although both parts are from the same skill.

This is hard coded into the game.

Sorry but i learned both Necro and Warrior from PvP which is instant 80. I dont see how using ToK will hinder anybody development since you get the same skills eithet way with your choice of build to use. Figure out how you want to play it, just as somebody that doesnt use ToK figures it out.

-Slow to enemies nearby. level 2.
-Taunt nearby enemies and grants protection to nearby allies. lvl 3


Skills:

*Heal:
-Conjure Healing Urn – group healing skills and support.

-Glaive – Melee skills, and ranged pull attack.
-Crossbow – ranged skills and conditions.

Just curious as to what you all feel this classes role (in it’s current form) will have.

I’m looking at the traits we know of so far, and it looks like the revenant has the potential to be very strong at throwing out outgoing heals much like the Guardian and elementalist, but (from the traits) he’s looking to be much more potent with this.

Revenant will be the pre-OP Engineer.

In some MMOs they have Mind Control abilities to make enemies attack each other.

Would be cool if we had that in the form of Taunt, which radiates from enemy target source, forcing its other allies to attack it for 2 seconds.

This could be a pretty clever use of the new taunt mechanics.

Also could see major use as a Zerg counter in WvW.

How is adding a champion to a stronghold PvP map make you think Cantha is coming? Will you say the same thing when they announce the revenant Shiro spec?

B/c Nika was part of the GW1 Factions campaign. There’s also exotic medium armor (good armor at that) in game with her namesake And yes, Shirk will also remind people of GW Factions.

Refresh my memory, was anyone offended by Cantha in Guild Wars 1?

From what I heard from various people on the forums, Japan, China and Korea weren’t happy that their cultures were mixed together.

Mixed architectural styles and cultures don’t sell well historically in east Asian countries, so they’d miss out on a wide number of players if they made Cantha a melting pot kind of area like it would have been in Divinity’s Reach. It’d probably work better if they picked a single culture to base it on, but I’m not sure how accurate to lore that’d be.

Thats just dumb. This not ASIA!! This is GW2 universe where they can make things how they vision it, because its not asia…..

Bosses Damage spots are going to be critable on the next patch. The Teq thread has a reply from a dev saying ‘I made sure of it’ So this will be a non-issue moving forward.

Can’t remember what game it was, but there was one that I tried where the monk was not the same style as a GW1 Monk, was more a brawler type, martial artist without weapons, or perhaps knuckle dusters.

DAOC priest maybe? It used the staff as weapon.

No the game he thinking of is VANGUARD. They had melee monks.

Nothing has been debunked since Rev elite has not been announced.

No datamined material is considered accurate since so much has ended up being scrapped.. It might be true or it might not be. That is the best we can say at this stage

Thief might be getting staff, it might not
Has there been ranger confirmation of staff? If not same rule applies.
Rev might be getting shield, as normal or elite. It might not.

it is when the artist were paid to make art for the elite specs.
thats far different than just coding in place holder skills.

Staff Thief is one of the most exciting Elite Specs. I dont play Thief, but may play the class for this Elite Spec.

if we’re sticking to the “one class per weapon” idea…
weapons already taken:
longbow, greatsword, staff, shield

what remains?
axe, dagger, mace, pistol, sword, focus, warhorn, rifle, torch, scepter

of those what can’t thief already use?
axe, mace, focus, warhorn, rifle, torch, scepter

i certainly can’t see a thief using maces, torches, warhorns, focuses or scepters.

so its down to axe and rifle, and of the 2 i’d more expect rifle since the class is already seen as a competent melee class. (and other specs we’ve seen seem to like mixing it up)

The one weapon type per class been debunked with the Mesmer and Revenant both getting shields.

It’s not a secret to anyone that Anet has not been kind to pistol and rifle weapon types. Rifle on warrior has received no love since launch (the LB has surpassed it in both dmg and utility and is the ranged choice for any sane warrior). Pistol on thieves is by far their weakest weapon (still having some use for utility in off-hand but its main hand dmg is pathetic). As for engineer its been made abundantly clear by Anet that they want engies using kits as their primary weapons.

So whats the deal? Has Anet just decided that adding firearms into the game and are just silently dropping them and shoving them to the side. OR (and this is what i hope above all else) that they aren’t idiots and do have a plan to make them better in HoT by giving more ranged specializations to classes for whom range is a weakness (see Guardians/ Dragon Hunters). Will they be giving new ranged oriented elite specializations to warrior, thief or anyone else?

What do you guys think? Why no love for firearms, the weapons types that are already some of the most restricted weapons in the game.

As for their elite spec, looking from datamined effects on stances it seems Glint will be placed on f2 key and work completely different from current legends. Glint has signet icons for a good reason.

what gives you that idea of f2?

yeah the whole glint legend looks like Signet skills. I wonder if they stay in passive when switching legends.

It isn’t hammers, it is symbols. Both greatsword and mace had symbols. It is the Guardian meta to run GS Mace/Torch +symbolic avenger. Unless you specifically had all of your guardians turn off that trait you benefited from the bug willingly or not.

Except if, like us, at Teq we told every guardian not to use symbols, ever. Symbols are light fields, which leads to retaliation, which is useless. Light fields wipe out the fire fields which erases might stacking which leads to less dmg in the zerg (assuming the traits worked properly of course).

Did we benefit a little from this bug, probably, would it have decreased our time by 9 minutes, definitely not.

Also our teq build at the time was actually GS + scepter/focus for blasting and immobilizing creepers… so we only had the 1 symbol. This was also on a guild run, we spawned it ourselves, we had very little pugs so i can be fairly certain there were not many symbols in the zerg, 1-5 probably, 50-100 definitely not. That night we also only had 16 guardians.

Off to each lunch and do important things. Don’t come crying in this thread when they fix the bug and you can’t kill Teq.

Taunt is a good idea imo. The game needs some soft roles instituted to make small group content more interesting. Right now, healing and tanking are completely unnecessary in the PvE meta even though we have gear for those types of roles. Anet can certainly implement these things without fully embracing the trinity. Honestly, it would be a breath of fresh air compared to the everyone in zerker gear meta.

Funny you should say that. You DO know, I hope, that in most ‘trinity’ games, dedicated tanks and healers are scarce, right? It’s a never-ending pain, with everyone wanting to be DPS and DPS charging into mobs without letting the tank get agro. And even in this game, people capable of healing just DO NOT HEAL OTHERS even when it’s essential (e.g. temple of balthazar, keeping the NPCs alive).

And you think it’s a good idea to introduce the type of gameplay where taunts/healers become more important? Give me the berserker meta any day…

Whats funny, in games with Trinity, the Support/Tank roles are not as desired
But in non trinity games, those same roles are desired.

I see many people in GW2 want to play Support/Tank roles but cant, while in other MMos that may be the reverse effect.

The Non-Trinity trend in MMOs became less popular after the release of GW2 as well.

But it seem like the Elite Specs are modeled after Diablo 1-3 classes?

This not a far fetched theory, since Arena Net originated from the staff that created Diablo 2 and Early World of Warcraft(pre 2004)..

So there is a legit connection there. They fans of their own work I would assume.

So makes the most sense for this theory.

I think they should have picked a different name, it’s not meant to function in anyway similar to “taunt” in trinity games and it just confuses people who have a poor grasp on game mechanic/design. It’s meant to be the opposite of Fear instead of of pushing away it pulls in, it was never meant as PVE aggro control.
That said I can see how it could be interesting in PVP/WVW however it’s not accessible enough to really matter at the moment.

I disagree. Because it forces enemy to also auto attack the source of taunt.
Also it controls AI for NPC. Far different from Fear.

It forces them to auto attack while the taunt is in effect. Once the taunt ends the mob can continue attacking other players as normal, taunt has no effect on the threat list of the mob. It doesn’t put the taunter on the top of the threat list like taunts do in “aggro games”

From what I been testing, that’s not the case, except the one time I had the taunt fail all together and didn’t effect the enemy at all while the condition was on the NPC condition bar.

But in my testing, taunt held Aggro after the mob was taunted, meaning it places the taunted target at top of Aggro list. Just like in other MMOs with taunts in PvE.

and even if thats the case it still wont make “tanks” viable, because you can get good and avoid damage in gw2 instead of eating it.

What is a tank?
Somebody the controls mobs is it not?

Well with Defiance bar and taunt, thats more of a reality come HoT.

You were arguing that Taunt is simply a reverse fear. again, Taunt is in the game now, and proves you Nay Sayers wrong.

From testing, it totally changes the aggro list, and puts the caster at the top, even after effect ends. Even changes the target of the target just like Taunt in every other MMO with taunts.

Now what you have to say about that?

Glint elite skill is a ranged burst attack, so here that. It might have other ranged abilities as well. Problem with hammer is that you cant kite with this weapon at all unless Shiro will gain ground targeted shadowstep like shortbow 5 on a thief. But from the sound of rev and their mobility in one of the interviews most likely shadowstep will be target based as hes supposed to be slow outside of combat like guard.

Meanwhile i pray for +25% move speed in power line or..lets say i will have to speak to someone

But going off the rumor theorycrafting, Glint Elite Spec will be centered around SHIELD as its weapon of choice instead of Hammer which is their only range weapon so far.

I believe Glint may be ranged or hybrid at least. You can say the same about Jalis after all. Jalis is centered around hammer as it weapon choice and yet his utilities are melee oriented. What stop them from creating Glint as a ranged legend to fill up the weakness of revenant – lack of ranged attacks?

Also dont forget shield abilities

Shield 4 – 900 range.

Shield is a one hander weapon. plus we dont have weapon swap, so that means no Shield/Hammer combo like a Warrior/Guardian.
But I see your point. Glint could have ranged skills. Seem like Glint is built around Signets right now.

Lets hope Anet does something good there. Because like I said before

Hammer and Jaris Dwarf Legend connection is STUPID, and only done from a lore perspective, which is very different from gameplay.

Range Weapon needs a Range Legend combo, not Dwarf melee legend combo.

That to me show that Revy’s lead developers not thinking deeply about all these areas of the Revenant.

This my theory,
Again just a theory of mine,
But it seem like the Elite Specs are modeled after Diablo 1-3 classes?

This not a far fetched theory, since Arena Net originated from the staff that created Diablo 2 and Early World of Warcraft(pre 2004)..

So there is a legit connection there. They fans of their own work I would assume.

So makes the most sense for this theory.

*Thief Staff = Diablo Monk

*Guardian Longbow = Demon Hunter

*Ranger staff = Druid

*Warrior (assume torch) = Barbarian
———————
*Elementalist Warhorn = Wizard
———————
*Necromancer Greatsword = Necromancer
———————
*Engineer Hammer = Warrior

*Revenant Shield = Witch Doctor

*Mesmer Shield = I say this comes from GW1 utopia instead

But what’s your thoughts on this theory?

Why only 4 baseline Legends and not 5?

Glint elite skill is a ranged burst attack, so here that. It might have other ranged abilities as well. Problem with hammer is that you cant kite with this weapon at all unless Shiro will gain ground targeted shadowstep like shortbow 5 on a thief. But from the sound of rev and their mobility in one of the interviews most likely shadowstep will be target based as hes supposed to be slow outside of combat like guard.

Meanwhile i pray for +25% move speed in power line or..lets say i will have to speak to someone

But going off the rumor theorycrafting, Glint Elite Spec will be centered around SHIELD as its weapon of choice instead of Hammer which is their only range weapon so far.
