One thing I noticed that is annoying is on the necromancer when your jagged horror (or whatever the tiny trait rat thing is called) dies you make a comment which makes me think that one of my normal minions die. For those of you that don’t know the jagged horror dies in like 10 seconds on it’s own and one gets summoned after you kill an enemy.

The upgrades for the traits cost too much. As it is now I probably never plan on unlocking tier 3 for any of my characters because it costs 2 freaking gold. I know of other people that don’t plan on unlocking tier 3.

Or perhaps the cost wouldn’t be as much of an issue if there weren’t so many gold sinks in the game.

Marriage

Anyways the problem with marriage is that you can’t really do much with it because then people will be required to get married. It is just a for fun thing. And if it’s just a for fun thing I don’t see why people can’t just RP getting married now already.

I agree, there should be no repair costs for PvP, but if you’re killed by a PvE mob in a PvP zone, you should still have to repair for that.

I agree with this.

I remember when I first entered WvW. I couldn’t figure out why my armor was getting damaged then I realized that getting killed by a player damages an item. I then realized that you essentially have to pay money in order to play in WvW.

Allow free teleportation to any "completed" city

In addition to that, most people wanting to travel to cities simply teleport to the mists, from there to Lion’s Arch, and from there to the desired city, thus avoiding any teleportation fees.

Omg that is such a good idea why did I never think of that. I’m going to start doing that now.

Monthly achievement - WvW

I don’t really like how the monthly achievements requires you to go into WvW. The reason is because in WvW my fps can dip below 4. What I would suggest is to change it to killing players in WvW OR sPvP. That way people without super computers can still get the monthly.

You can retrain. But if it costs the same as when you bought them to unlock the tiers, then it’s super expensive to do.

I think retraining should be significantly less or even free. OP has a valid reason but my main reason is so that I can switch up play styles every now and then. For instance maybe playing as a conditionmancer and then switching it up to getting pets and all the pets buffs. It adds variety to playstyles on the same character since you are not just locked into 1 build (if it costs 2 gold to respec then in my book that’s the same thing as not being able to respec at all because there’s no way I’m paying 2 gold for that).

I like the idea of character re-customization. However I’m not too thrilled at the concept of people to COMPLETELY change EVERYTHING. I think some of the features should not be able to be changed. Like face type, height. However I think that most everything else should be able to be changed. Things from hair style to hair color to skin color to facial sliders.

/afk command or something similar

I’ve noticed this for awhile too. Someone will be afk in an area that’s not completely safe and people will keep rezing them thinking that they’re not afk. Then they’ll keep dying and their armor will keep degrading. I know you can just say “well don’t go afk in a dangerous area” however I like to think of solutions that can help everyone. I originally thought that maybe a prompt should come up asking if you want to be rezed but on second thought that is a bit silly because it would be annoying. So I’d like it if there was a way to show players that you’re afk. For instance maybe typing /afk can put an icon by your name that says AFK like the LFG thing puts a symbol by your name. Then any input from your keyboard would automatically break the AFK.

Problem with selling to highest buyer

In the auction house there’s an option to sell to the highest buyer. I’ve noticed this for awhile now, but there’s an issue with it. It comes mainly from trying to sell armor or weapons. You cannot sell an item for less than it’s value (which I like as it makes selling easier) HOWEVER people can post offers that are lower than it’s value. Which is a waste of everyone’s time. People who put offers like that will never get the item so why is it allowed to happen?

I’m not sure if it’s a bug, an oversight, working as intended, or what so I posted in suggestions forum.

I might be in the minority on this… but I actually LIKE buying arrows.. There’s an old MMORPG called Ragnarok Online where you had to buy arrows. HOWEVER there were different types of arrows that you could buy. For instance there were fire arrows, ice arrows, curse arrows, silver arrows, shadow arrows, wind arrows, stun arrows, etc. Having all those different types of arrows made buying or obtaining them an enjoyable experience because you knew you were getting something beneficial from the arrows and wasn’t just solely a money sink for ranged characters. I’m not sure how a similar system could be implemented in Guild Wars 2 but I would like to see purchasable arrows with different kinds of attributes like in Ragnarok Online. For instance maybe fire arrows could give a % chance to cause the target to burn, or ice arrows could give a % chance to cause the target to chill, or wind arrows could give a % chance to give you swiftness. You could make recipes for arrows in the huntsman category or even sell them from vendors/karma vendors.

You could make a similar system for guns and bullets. Maybe you could have explosive rounds that have a % chance to cause an explosion, or piercing rounds that have a % chance to pierce the target, or silver rounds that have a % chance to give bonus damage towards undead.

I know that people in general frown upon RNG. But I’m not really sure of an alternate solution for balancing out a system like this.

Yes please. There should be one slot for consumables (whether it be food or potions or whatever). One slot is all that is needed since most people probably just mass produce 1 consumable that they like (-cough- magic find -cough-).

A lot of companies in general don’t seem to realize how much popularity their product can gain by letting people run wild with it on youtube. Look at My Little Pony and how it exploded in popularity. I’m not saying youtube was the reason for that but it did certainty help build a community for “bronies”.

Simply put, a cap on bleeds means that bleed builds become very less effective in group fights. So that gives non-bleed users an advantage. I get the feeling that Arentnet is scared that without a cap enemies will have stacks of over 200 bleeds on them and die too fast. But you know what you could do? Give bosses and stuff the ability to remove conditions more often. If you want you could even give them an ability to cure all bleed effects. Something that could keep bleeds in check THAT IS NOT A CAP HARGLE MARGLE LARGLE.

Rift had a really good system for this. Essentially if you’re playing on your account and Rift doesn’t recognize your computer/ip/whatever it “coin locks” your character where you can still play the game but you can’t sell or buy anything. And in order to unlock it you have to go to your email to get a code.

Fall damage and rolling

I think it would be neat if, when you’re falling, that hitting roll RIGHT as you hit the ground would reduce the fall damage. Not negate, reduce. As an example maybe it would reduce the fall damage by 33% or something. Big enough to make a difference, but not so big that nobody uses the fall damage abilities because of it (although I highly doubt anyone uses the fall damage abilities on a regular basis anyways…).

Too many invisible walls

There are too many invisible walls. I’ll start jumping up a hill.. then.. lol invisible wall! I don’t see why there are invisible walls. The only appropriate uses of invisible walls would be to put them at the border inbetween two maps or if there’s an area that closed off because of some sort event. If there is an area devoid of creatures and that’s why, then put some creatures up there or gathering nodes. If there’s a specific way you want someone to get up the hill then alter the terrain so that they can’t get up that way. And I know that it’s relatively impossible to do that, but what you can do is just make it really hard so that someone has to jump around for an hour and if it comes to that, why do you care that they took a super secret way? I mean they took an hour. It’s not like your average person is going to try that. And in a general world setting getting somewhere some super secret way has no real impact on anything because you would just use it to get a vista or point of interest or something.

Charr Sire Loyal Soldier Scrapper Mission

I just did the Charr personal story mission where you get the other half of the key from the scrappers who got to it before you did. Before that Rytlock asked me if I wanted to negotiate for it or just outright kill them all. Since my character is ferocious I decided to kill them all. When I got to the mission my character tried to negotiate with them and just beat them up. Didn’t kill them. Just beat them up. I remember after choosing to kill them all Rytlock making some comment like how he wouldn’t want to cross me or something like that indicating that I in fact choose the kill option and not the negotiate option by accident.

Inspect Other Players' Gear

Easy peesy way of enabling this without getting butthurt. Make it an option. Make everyone set to unable to be inspected by default. People can enable it if they want. Disable the function entirely against enemies in PvP or WvW so that they can’t see your gear no matter whether you have it disabled or not.

If you’re against this then you against it just for the sake of being against it. It literally does no harm whatsoever.

What about mounts?

If anything they should add mounts for 1 reason: People will pay money for them in the cash shop. Mounts are kind of a big deal to a lot of players.

Just give each race their own mounts so that you can tailor the mounts to the right size. Disable all passive buffs while mounted so that all players move at the same speed. If you’re really concerned about mounts making map exploration too easy make there be penalties for being attacked while being on a mount (maybe you get crippled, or you take more damage, or you just outright get demounted).

On my ranger I usually use shortbow + axe/horn.

Axe is pretty good aoe and the horn has the buff. Generally in mobs I’ll use axe/warhorn. This is for a couple reasons. One is obviously because the axe is decent aoe. Also because when I’m in a situation where I’m attacking a group of enemies I’m usually with a group and I like to keep the horn buff up as much as possible. There is usually a veteran around in group situations so I use the veteran as an anchor for my skill 1 axe attack and use the bird move on it. I also like using the drake as my pet that has the lightning attack because the lightning attack functions in the same manner as the axe and does a lot of damage. The downside though is that it has a long cast time.

Shortbow I tend to use on more of a single-target basis. The exception being if I want to switch to it to use it’s poison arrow in an AoE setting. Shortbow is nice because of poison + bleeds (although the jump back move also works as an evade which is also nice). Having the pet means that normal mobs can attack the pet which gives you the opportunity to attack it from the side or back. In a group setting where there is a boss you can also attack them from the side or back because of the other players.

Although I’ve rarely used the longbow. So I’m not sure about it’s effectiveness. I’ve just grown so accustomed to shortbow + axe/horn that I haven’t really used it yet. I should probably also mention that I pretty much just PvE, since I don’t really like arena style PvP in MMOs and WvWvW is too much for my computer to handle.

Collection stacks

It would be nice if in your collection tab that a stack was higher than 250. I would like it if it was at least 500, but ultimately I would enjoy it if it were at 1,000.

I think what may have happened is that you guys thought 250 was good so that people would sell excess collectables. I can’t really speak for other people, but personally I just put excess collectables in my bank. I don’t really want to get rid of them because I think that I may need them someday. I’m a horder like that. Anyways, at least raise it to 500 please.

Creature targetting and range

The issue seems to come up when you use a ranged ability with a cooldown at the start of an encounter and you’re too far away and it misses. What I would like to see is some sort of visual indicator to show whether or not your attacks are in range. If there are abilities that have different ranges for the same skill set, then just set the indicator to go off of skill 1 because then at least for those other skills we have an idea of what range we are in to the creature without having to guess.

Engineer - Picking up turrets

When I made my engineer I wanted turrets. One thing I noticed was that when you go up to a turret it has the option to pick it up. Naturally, I thought this meant that you actually picked it up so that you could move it. But no. It just effectively destroys the turret. I was then taunted by the personal story when, in the Charr Iron legion, there’s a story mission where you are able to pick up turrets and place them where you want. I would like it if Engineer turrets functioned in a similar manner.

If you want to actually destroy the turret, you can just blow it up with your tool belt.

Use account names for Guild Chat

I think it could just make guild chat more fluid if it used account names instead of player names (could take off the numbers though). I don’t really want to have to memorize which player is who. If I want to know what player I could always look at the guild screen. I know that you can already do that to check what account is tied to what player, but I just feel that viewing account names in general would just make chat, like I said before, more fluid.

Low level zones - less hearts more events

When playing a higher level character it was fun dealing with all the events. However after making a second character I found the low level zones to be, to put it bluntly, boring. There isn’t enough events going on. I feel like the only thing to do quest wise in low level zones is the hearts which can get boring when you’re in the theme park mentality of “go here then here then here then here.”

I’m not saying to get rid of all the hearts, just some and to add more events to lower level zones.

Engineer auto attack

So this annoyance came while I was playing my engineer. I like to use dual pistols and switch between that and flamethrower (as they have good synergy with dual pistols having burn and poison and an aoe confuse). However whenever I switch to my flamethrower I have to set the 1 skill to auto attack every time. This is especially annoying when I get downed because I automatically switch back to my dual pistols. So I would like:

1) Make it so that kits like the flamethrower automatically have the 1 skill on auto.

2) Make it so that if you’re downed and get back up you’re still using whatever weapon kit you already had equipped.

Alliances

Hey so. I essentially was thinking about this when I would want to represent multiple guilds but couldn’t. The idea is to have alliances. Essentially, a group of guilds would come together to sign an Alliance. Then there would be an alliance chat option where everyone in all the guilds could talk to each other. There could even be alliance perks like there are guild perks. The alliance perks could potentially be automatic. For instance an alliance would have milestones that would be reached by getting X alliance influence or something. This could be done so that there is no alliance leader so that having a guild leaving or joining would be an easy task. An alliance could have a cap of how many guilds can be in one. Guilds would still retain their identity while allowing for a chat system for multiple guilds to use.

That or just add custom chat channels like City of Heroes did (R.I.P. City of Heroes).

Personal story mentor - SPOILERS!

So there’s the point where all storylines converge: Claw Island. The scene where your mentor sacrifices her/himself was quite emotional (thanks to the music at the boat scene). However I was at some point expecting to fight the undead version of our mentor. This thought came up when I went back to retake Claw Island. I went “I wonder if I have to fight a boss version of my mentor as an undead.” But alas I never did. I think fighting your mentor (doesn’t necessarily have to be at Claw Island, but eventually) could add another emotional layer to them. First you have to watch them die, then you have to kill them, then you get taunted by their death (in a later story mission). It could really stir up this sense of rage.

Last boss in personal story - SPOILERS!

The group instance in the Kill Zhaitan mission was actually pretty fun. However the entire instance gets defined by one thing: Zhaitan himself was super super easy to kill. He basically just sits on the side of his tower while you shoot cannons at him. He doesn’t even do anything. At the least I would expect him to shoot aoes out or fly around like the other dragons did in the mission. When I first got to the bigger airship I was expecting Zhaitan to make an appearance ON the airship. The Zhaitan fight could have been so much more, but instead every person I hear that’s done the mission has come out disappointed. You guys really need to revamp the Zhaitan part of the mission.

Fall damage - down but not out

This issue came mostly from annoyances from jumping puzzles.. but it’s come up other times. I find it really annoying that fall damage kills you outright. The only saving grace from it is that your gear doesn’t degrade from it.

My idea is to make fall damage down you. This is good for a multitude of reasons. One is that, like I said before, it makes jumping puzzles less of a pain. But if you take fall damage in an area with monsters, they still have the opportunity to attack you and kill you. So the only way to recover scott free is to take fall damage in an area where there are no monsters. Another reason why I dislike dying outright is having to spend the money teleporting to a waypoint. At higher levels teleporting becomes such a pain money wise that I don’t really even teleport anymore unless it’s a large distance (like across the entire map).

If you want a level of realism, you could create a threshold of fall height of where you die instead of getting downed. However if this is done I would like it if that threshold was very high so that the majority of the time you still get downed instead of dying. It should be to the point that people understand why you die and not go “come on, I wasn’t that high!”

I really really think that fall damage can only be enhanced by making you be downed instead of out.

Why not have a mount and more armour stats?

Yes… I would either like to see mounts or a price drop on ports. At higher levels if you’re right next to a port it costs like 70 copper to use it… and porting cross-map can cost like 3 silver…

I just made a new character. shrug
