This again? If you’re running a pure condition build you deserve to get countered by ds eles. Enough said.

And who the kitten comes up with the idea that condition builds shouldn’t be nullified by diamond skin? Why not? Because your mindlessly easy yet rewarding condition aids build doesn’t work on someone for once? Gtfo.

Diamond skin only works in a 1v1 anyway. Any other scenario, it’s break the 10% with your team mates, unload conditions, proceed to watch the ele die helplessly. Smh, some people just can’t l2p.

If anything, diamond skin should be buffed.

Then I guess that for example, a guard (same low HP pool) could have a GM that makes him immune to physical damage when he’s above 90% HP, because he doesnt have enough heals and blocks to deal with direct damage, and so people not running condi builds should be punished and die cause a single trait. Also, its easy enough to down 2k health from a guard with your random condis, and hes not going to heal himself up at all ^^

There were a few reasons for keeping players in HotM when queued:

  • It forces new players to recognize they have completely different builds in PvP maps.
  • You won’t miss the match accept because of load screens and get dishonor.
  • We can make a better user experience (match accept and map voting) without having to worry about interrupting whatever a player might be doing elsewhere.

In order to allow queuing from outside HotM, we would need to change these things.

  • We would need tech to remove players temporarily from queue during load screens.
  • Create better tutorials or gating for new players so they don’t hop into PvP unprepared.
  • Revisit the way the match flow UI works.

All of this could be easily solved if we had something to do when waiting for Qpop, a rework of HotM and stuff like this would be nice :p

@krysard I’ve never really played much in the custom arenas. Can you tell if one of them is empty and just available to use? Thx!

You can go to the server list, and search for an empty server by rolling down (it appears as x/20, being the full servers at the top of the list). If the arena is named “Server 01-99” is an Arenanet arena, so public for everyone, while if it has his own name is the arena of someone and so maybe locked or with different rules

How is this a buff? Skill fact means that now the unblockable effect is listed in the tooltip, but it was unblockable before :p

I’m pretty sure this is talking about the build I use and yes it’s broken. Also, every profession currently has a build like this that’s supremely OP relative to 90% of the other builds available for the profession. Anet needs to squash the OP builds so we can have proper build variety.

For those saying “bring condi cleanse” — the reality is that even if you have 3+ condi cleanses, all you’ll do is prolong the fight. I can easily take out 2 people, sometimes 3. It has to do with Anet allowing the DD dodge to behave like a whirl finisher if you take Lotus Training. Anet — if you want to fix this build, change Lotus Training to not be a whirl finisher.

The build has 3 basic steps:
1) Put down a field, I personally prefer poison from SB4 since it is spammable. If there is a fire field nearby, even better. Potent Poison trait works very well with this build (33% more damage and duration)

2) Endlessly spam whirl finishers (Lotus dodge + death blossom). You are unkillable since both are evades. You can do this in the middle of a group fight and not die.

3) Every dodge and death blossom will apply 3x whatever the field is, be it poison, burning, chaos ON TOP of the normal bleeding + torment + poison from the attacks.

The build pairs super well with caltrops (obviously) and caltrops on dodge (obviously) and remove conditon on evade (obviously). So, basically, you’re immune to direct damage from dodges and you remove condis on you every time you evade (i.e., death blossom and dodge both remove condis), so you’re super tanky.

I personally like to add an extra cover condition for the full “condi overload” so I use sigils of ice or frailty + energy for the extra dodging. Ice makes is so people can’t run, while frailty gives you a flat % increase to damage while covering your harder hitting condis.

Utility traits that pair well include Impairing Daggers to immob + slow (no running away), Basilisk Venom (keep them from running). Going for Panic Strike also helps if they manage to cleanse the cripple/chill/immob that you keep on them. There really is no escape from all the snares/immob/stun/chil/teleports. Bountiful theft is great for the extra vigor (more dodging!) and boon steal.

And yes, it can kill reaper (lulz) because reaper can’t keep chill on you or hit you with any big attacks due to the evades. Also, with all the dodging/evades, the odds of someone transferring condis back to you is very very slim.

There are other viable variations of the general build that use Pulmonary Impact + Pressuring Strike paired with interrupts from steal, Basilisk Venom and Distracting Daggers. These destroy anyone without continuous access to stability but lose out on a lot of damage if they have it up.

I’ve fight against this build, and its the most annoying fight ever. You just see how he’s evading literally everything while keeping high condi stacks. Usally the only way to get rid of this thieves is to just ignore them, keep teamfighting, and if you win, just focus’em with 2/3 teammates

If the Meta is that all the elites rule the roost the no I don’t like it. It makes no sense to me to wave a magic wand and render all the old builds mostly ineffective. The game should be about as wide a variety of builds as possible being effective. That being said there will always be something people will cry about but I just don’t think its right to cudgel people into buying the expansion and to have everyone play a small variety of builds.

When I play with non elite specs, so basically the old meta, I dont have any problem beating elite builds, but I get your point that elite specs seems to be a great addition of the core profs. But I remember something that Helseth said during one of his streams, and it really made me ponder about it. He basically said that elite specs are designed based in old meta builds, so the new specs arent “better” than old specs, but fits better the actual meta, so even if they are balanced, they also improve some core builds.

Necro and warrior both start with 0% of their resource mechanic. The difference is that necro relies much more heavily on this resource than a warrior, and starting a match with 0% locks away a huge chunk of their class and builds. Warrior doesn’t suffer from this.

Warrior relies on adrenaline way harder than you think, and that’s the reason why warrior is in trash-tier now because the adrenaline mechanic is really freaking bad.

Nerco relies much more heavily on this resource? wrong, and the fact nerco’s life force mechanic is 100000x better than warrior’s adrenaline mechanic.

Why do I keep seeing people post stuff like no one’s using power reaper…. I know there are some people in this forum who just constantly push for condi, but it’s not really better for anything except 1v1s. And for those saying every reaper they fight is condi? Yeah people used to qq at me when I was running a berserker build because they thought I was condi lol…. from what I’ve seen the best Reapers I’ve run into have been mostly power, only ran into one good condi one so far but I really didn’t have a chance against him anyway because he is double range and I’m full melee.

Let me guess… probably because both best Necros (Leeto on EU and Nos on NA) are playing Condi Chillomancer and people will rather follow their builds than some imaginary builds?;)

This. Maybe it doesnt explain all stomp bugs, but as soon as I realised that retargeting when stomping will make my stomp to miss I usually dont have any problem for stomping

This is a pain because one of my favourite things to do while stomping is to switch target to an enemy resser and interrupt them (Diversion) while finishing a downed opponent.

So you’re saying the reason it might be failing sometimes is because of switching targets?

Yes, because skill retargeting, when switching targets you will “stomp” the current target, which makes you to fail the other stomp. Maybe Anet could fix this so if you retarget when stomping to someone who cant be stomped, it just stomps the first target, but I dunno if this is really hard to write when programming

Necros shouldn’t be able to maintain more than 50% life force out of combat. And also remove stacking life force on BUILDINGS(new stronghold map, khylo, skyhammer) Thieves can get revealed by hitting structures or can use cloak and dagger on them to get stealth. After fixing these necros could get like 10% starting lifeforce.

and also, comparing adrenaline to life force is super dumb. Life force gives you extra million sustain and extra 5 skills for you to spam while adrenaline only just provide you one skill to use and its thousand times harder to gain compare to life force now.

Life force tankiness needs to be nerf, life force regeneration needs to be nerf, then, we will talk about starting with certain percentage of life force.

So, you agree that LF is better than adrenaline, that was my point. Also, I agree about an ooc 20% LF, so you can avoid playing against a 0/100 LF necro, which can make a huge difference

Play with a guardian without using virtues, and a necro without using DS. Of course F skills are tied to traits that can make them better or not, but I’m pretty sure my point is clear

Since you’re not so bright then gotta explain I guess.

Necro is Shroud dependent, just like Warrior is Burst dependent or just like Engineer is Tool Belt dependent or even just like Mesmer is Shatter/Clone dependent etc etc etc.

Classes are built around their special skills and those skills are built around their classes.

And therefore, there is no “Shroud is Best”, “Shatter is Best”, “Tool Belt is better than Virtues” or whatever you claim anything to be.

Those are class mechanics adjusted to class design and properly utilized can bring any class to top.

All classes have their mechanics balanced to one another and stand at the same place.

Balance problem lies within certain values not class mechanics.

Deal with it.

People was complaining about the fact that adrenaline decreases when ooc, while this doesnt happens with LF, so LF has “improved” mechanics than adrenaline. This happens for the only reason that necros are more dependant of LF than wars of adrenaline. Of course traited F’s can give more or less than others ingame, so you cant do a ral ranking about which ones are better or worse, but that wasnt my intention at all, just saying that some profs have less room in order to do stuff than others without their F, but when they have it, it makes a huge difference

This bug had largely cleared up for a while, but it seems to be back with a vengeance.

The fastest way to clear the bug is to use the emote /no. I got really good at doing that quick in the past, might have to learn it again.

The unique difference is that if you have AA enabled, if you hit another skill you will stop your AA and do the skill, while if you have AA disabled you will first finish the AA and then do the other skill, so you can enable/disable it if you feel that your prof/build can work better with one option or another. Also, some stealth builds like to disable AA so they can have more overall control of their AA and avoid being revealed cause some precasted projectiles when stealthing

PVP is not fun atm. As soon as a team has 2 dragon hunters in it you’ve lost. You often join with inexpereinced players and they don’t know how to evade a trap. Besides the evading argument sucks anyways, why are Ranger traps so much weaker then? Using the same argument?

The difference is that druid was considered OP by people that is actually good at PvP, while DH is not considered OP by this same people. Not only this, but I dont remember anyone saying Druid was balanced, while I can see in every rant post ppl saying the problem with DH is just about l2p

DH seems balanced to me, same spot than the old meditation guard. They are way better when 1v1 than when teamfighting, focus them and they will die. When 1v1 just run stab so you can dodge their traps without getting cced. If you can dodge their traps/kite him/condi him you can win the 1v1

There are many who agree with you, and there has been quite a few threads and feedback about it. Those in charge def have seen that feedback, but I guess they chose to prioritize whats most important based on the time they had/have. One can only hope itll be revised if enough feedback is given. There are those who like the ground icon, but there should be a middle ground to appease the masses, like add more transparency to it for instance. That should take away much of the unneeded focus it draws in combat.

I’ve opened a thread about this during BWE2. I like the facet designs,but make them transparent instead of a glowing stuff
