This patch is almost guarantee to be underwhelming because as far as I know all it contains is some class enhancements and no major quality of life fixes that are killing this game like lack of decent rewards, meaningless leaderboards because of awful decay system, and bad matchmaking. Not that class balance isn’t important but there are just some quality of life things that are destroying pvp that go far beyond balance. What good are balanced classes when you have a matchmaking system that throws in rank 1 people with rank 50 people.
Seriously I have about had it with Warriors. They are literally about 40% of rosters in solo q and for the type of unorganized fend for yourself pvp you get in solo q a lot of the time the builds that are being run are totally over-powered. Its usually a stun lock high dps spec or a tanky spec using banners or a tanky stun lock spec or some combination. Its just too much of everything. Too much damage, too much crowd control, and too much self healing. Somebody tell me the weakness of this class in this kind of environment?
Guardians may be the most pigeonholed class in spvp. Sure almost every groups runs one but the vast majority its mid point bunker. I hate that play-style. Its basically why I do nothing but solo q anymore. I love my guardian but I am not going to be forced into playing a bunker to get on a decent team.
Skyhammer isn’t good enough for team queue yet somehow it is for solo queue. I would love to hear the reasoning behind that
hi Myrmidian, i never said ostrich is bad in the first place. u sure might think im a random, truth is i have 6k ele games and over 3k hours invested only in this class, so i guess im qualified enough to commentate what he did in his video. every half decent ele can tell u that the reason he died so quickly were missplays. thats no offense towards ostricheggs, i know he is playing alot of diffrent classes and builds, so its no biggie to fail on ele.
but im kinda bored of the “eleissobadwheniplayitigetoneshotbyeverythinginstantlyhype”.
u can even see on his reaction in the video, that he wasnt clear about whats happening if he will fireburst all spirits without dodging them after they die. and he got oneshot.so pls cut the crap, this video doesnt say anything about the current state of elementalists nor spirit ranger, it just shows a ele dieing hard to a lack of knowledge.
(sure i still fully agree with the ele is in a bad spot stuff, but its not as bad as everyone of yo little trashtalk hype guys say)
excuse my english pls
valar ~~
No offense dude but this isn’t what we need some guy who plays the game 24/7 and has 20 billion hours on one class talking about how he never makes mistakes, wtf pwns everyone and because of that nothing in the game is op or cant be dealt with easily. Because sadly we don’t all play the game 24/7. People are going to respond to opinions that are well thought out not to a bunch of thoughts based on because I am really good a so called expert. The game needs to be balanced around the average player although Ostrich is clearly much better then average. Spirit Rangers are too powerful for there skill level which is quite low. It is bad to have powerful mostly AI driven specs. They were all over the last big tournament as well I guess because there so bad. :P

Not to be rude but basically it sounds like you want a bunch of people to tryout for three spots eventually? You should be clearer because thats a lot less desirable then a e-sports guild that could run multiple groups which is what some might misinterpret this post to be about. If its really that you want a farm team where you will eventually call up three people to be the main guys you should spell it out better so people understand that this won’t be about getting regular spvp groups unless you make the cut.

Not to be rude but basically it sounds like you want a bunch of people to tryout for three spots eventually? You should be clearer. So basically you want a bunch of people to compete for three spots on your team. Thats a lot less desirable then a e-sports guild what could run multiple groups which is what some might misinterpret this post to be about.
Hello,
I don’t want this thread to turn into a “beat up the devs thread”. I want to give some constructive reasons to why (imo) pvp is failing.
I personally have enjoyed guild wars 2 from day one. The pvp is untouched by any other game…and after almost a year of playing I find the game to still be fun. But heres a couple things that I see from the outside as to why people are so angry with Anet right now.
- Transparency- There is none. If you are going to patch something…how about giving us some patch notes? People will QQ no matter what you do so lets be real, we NEED to know what is coming out before you patch it so you can atleast get some community feedback before you implement it. It is ridiculous that we have no idea what is going on.
- Development- This one is going to take a little longer. Its not that I don’t think you guys care about this game (devs), because I know you do. But I cannot accept the fact that everytime you have patched something into pvp it is broken. We had no leaderboards (which I expected at release) for a large part of the game, but when they were patched in they were broken and also REMAIN broken to this day. Another example would be the random map generator. Patched in, broken. Not only once, but twice. First day of the game, anet recognized AOE was a problem, still not fixed. The fixes are coming in to slow which then causes people to quit. PLEASE ATLEAST GIVE US DATES!
- Resources- It is pretty obvious that the resources are being funneled into other parts of the game besides PvP. I understand that you can’t have everyone working on PvP, but if you cant even get a random map generator ( which has been around since ATARI) to work correctly after 6 months of development, it is obvious your developers are being pushed by more pressing problems. The quality of your patches as of late, compared to other games, is VERY lacking. These bugs and glitches should not be happening in a AAA rated fastest selling MMO.
So in summary:
We need more transparency. Give us patch notes, fill us in. No more vague " some time soon", " we’re working on it". That doesn’t fly anymore. More and more people don’t believe you everytime you say that. They feel you are hiding something!!!
Your development needs to improve, no more MAJOR bugs at patch release. I can forgive you for being slow and I can forgive you for being a little “hush hush” about somethings, but I cant forgive you when you give me broken content that I’ve waited 6 months for. ( which is basic, games over 10 years old have map generators) You need to pull more resources to PvP because the money is there, but you are not making any content that brings anyone to watch it or participate in it. PvE players come and go, PvPers generally will stick around for a lot longer. I hope that some devs read this. I want to be clear I am not saying you are incompetent or you don’t care, but it is unacceptable to me for these problems to exist at the magnitude that we see today.
Well, on the subject of transparency I really think it comes down to difference of opinion. I really believe these devs feel that they know so much better then the players that they really don’t need to discuss upcoming game changes with the player base at large. Maybe a few so called elite players they will talk to to bounce some ideas off. I call it pointy head theory. You get the most intelligent people(or people that think they are the most intelligent) in a room somewhere and they can solve all the world’s problems. Unfortunately it never works. What else can it be really? It has pretty much become standard in the industry to release basically full patch notes well ahead of time for the community to see and give feed back on. It seems these guys don’t think its the proper approach.
If you are rank 1, statistically, there are half as many players within a thousand ranks of you as if you are rank 1000. In other words, matchmaking will always get less good the higher you go, no matter what. There’s no way around it.
Also, you posted this around 10 am NA.
Again, not really true. Sure it won’t be as good as if every player was somehow available but they can do a much better job. All you can ask for is that A-net matches you with the 10 best players available rating wise at the time of your queue and then puts them on the 2 teams in a way that makes sense. They are not doing that currently. So it can be improved and it can be improved quite a lot. Saying nothing can be done again just lets a-net off the hook and makes excuses for them to leave solo q in the deplorable state it is now.
If you don’t want to play with random players, don’t queue solo.
That doesn’t really make sense at all. Even if he was playing with similarly ranked players they would be random. What is the point of leaderboards then if everything is suppossed to be random? Why have rating at? Seriously we were sold a bill of goods by A-net don’t knee jerk defend them even if that wasn’t your intention its basically a defense of soloq saying don’t expect anything from it.
Well you are never going to have all people near your rank playing that would require everyone playing the game 24/7 to be available so you would basically probably not get matches for hours at time if you put in a super hard queue. All you can ask for is that both teams when you average out the rank are fairly close which they can do but probably won’t because it would require a lot of modification to there awful roster system. It should take the 10 closest players in the queue by rating and then divide them one to each team in a way that makes the two sides closest rating wise as possible.

Never thought i would be saying this, but l2p ostrich, you got hit with the storm spirit twice, that’s just a classic noob mistake. #l2dodgeroll
Lolz. By your logic sure if you never make a mistake you might not lose. I know you are a pro that never makes a mistake and if we combed through footage of one of your 1 v 1 fights we would see that every decision you make out of 100 is perfect but for the rest of us, even the best, we occassionally make mistakes. Get my point yet? Spirit Rangers are too strong for how easy they are to play. Don’t peddle your l2play nonsense here.
(edited by Kwll.1468)
With all the dodge spamming in pvp its not really as effective as you would think since you can dodge right through it. I get way more mileage out of the staff line.
Because stealth OP and the designers know it.
Know it and yet are afraid to take any real measures to tone it down because they know there is a certain population of players that loves playing a class with strong stealth. Instead of doing stuff like increasing reveal significantly or allowing damage to break stealth like other games do we are going to get some gimicky ranger pet ability as counter play.
Sept 17th = no balance
Oct 1st = yes balanceHello
FYI this is why they don’t tell us what the patch notes are. If people like you are going to nit-pick at a single discrepancy which was already publicly addressed then how the hell do you expect them to release a fluid set of notes subject to change?
They said the patch will be on the 15th. Chill the kitten out people.
Why do the devs care whether some people complain or not. Are there feewlings going to get hurt? They are not required to read anything on these forums. They should post the patch notes to get the feedback negative or positive. Its like this on every game forum. I know you played Warhammer for years. Some people were very negative there. But you know what? The devs still posted patch notes and started threads about upcoming changes and waded through the negativity to try to find the constructive posts and had give and take in the threads with the player base We deserve no less here. They sure have time to talk about stupid tournaments though that .00005% of the player base participates in and 2% watches.
(edited by Kwll.1468)
lol @ them wanting rewards. More evidence this is a pve game when they focus on rewards rather than making the game actually fun or competitive.
There is no reason why there cant be quality of life changes as well as rewards. Lets be honest the number of people that play pvp for just the competition is pretty small. If you want a large player base they have to add better rewards to spvp. You get more players in with better rewards and you keep them because they enjoy the spvp. Also, this game was advertised as a MMORPG with all that entails.
They are probably more tanky then a guardian. What makes a guardian a great bunker is not just good survivability but all the buffs and healing they can provide as well. Even a good guardian bunker if he doesn’t get help can get worn down in a couple minutes by a good dps. Some of these warriors builds you can’t budge there health as a single player its absurd. This stuff is exasperated in solo q when you can’t count on help from your team half the time because people are clueless.
These types of builds are destroying my will to play solo q anymore.
There are many reasons why that signet is broken op, and I can explain some.
Good players knows when to use their interrupts, one of the best timing is to interrupt target heals.
1) that signet passive heal cant be interrupted.
2) it heals over time but if you do your maths it basically heals more than any other healing skills: 407 per second = 12210 every 30s, compare it to Healing surge, which was the strongest “burst” healing skill, that does around 9k with a 30s recharge.
3) being a passive skill doesnt even bother your mind while fighting, you dont need to think when would be the best time to try to heal you, you can just care about attacking and way less about surviving.
4) its not the only passive heal, it is usually paired with a trait that regen life based on adrenaline level, which if i’m not wrong heals for 397 every 3 seconds. Which means that its another 132.3 each seconds.
5) the most important probably: It has no cooldown….. usually, once someone pops his heal, there is a time window where you can try to sustain your damage and he wont be able to heal up…. with signet there isnt any.
6) ….. there was a sixth point, i forgot about it while typing 5th, but well, you should have got the point by now.
Don’t forget the people running this are also running builds that allow them to incapacitate there opponents for extended periods of time via stuns giving them further time for Healing Signet to work its magic. Its crap and part of the reason along with stun locks why so many people are playing warriors right now. Warriors have access to way too much passive healing for a high hits, toughness, and dps class. It was one thing when they used to be weak to conditions. It should be rebalanced to heal for about what your average healing utitlity heals for over 30 seconds and that certainly isn’t 1210. Its more like 6-8k.

Just so you guys know:
We’re not entirely opposed to toning down auto attack damage in PvP (we could split some of the skills and leave PvE/WvW where they are, for instance). I think it’d be a great way to add more importance to the main bar skills, and, in fact, is something we used to have before ship.
There was a time in balance when #1 skills across the board were said to be “too ineffective” by many players to be used. So we made an effort to bump them up and make them more impact-full on the game, so that they didn’t feel like a waste of the #1 slot. There was also a time when most skills had higher recharges, and longer activation times/aftercasts.
From much player feedback, we found that by lowering recharges and cast times, the game FELT better for the person using skills. But, as you guys have said, sometimes it feels like you aren’t punishing by making someone waste a long-cooldown skill, or you aren’t rewarded for interrupting a powerful skill because it comes back too quickly.
Just wanted to say that we agree with you guys, but we have to balance the risk/rewards vs. how good the game feels to pay.
Thanks for all the great ideas! We’re definitely listening.
This issue is evident with wars and thieves. S/D ones, of course.
With S/D there’s no way to effectively punish the thief unless he wants to fight you.
No range requirments to spam Inf strike allows the thief to set the port back miles away AND he will still be able to close the gap, basically if things go wrong just port back, change to a softer target, rinse and repeat.
With evades you can still time your skills and use them in real attack time span: there’s no possible counter to a thief porting back at will ( coming from a thief main).
Same with war burst skills: the CD is ridicolously low, and skull crack is istant; a mace/shield war will ALWAYS, sooner or later, hit with its skull crack, and you’ll lose automatically the second time it lands on you.
Reason why the only effective counters to wars are mesmers and blind thieves.
There’s no good risk vs reward in these 2 cases ( especially) altough there are tons of more examples: do what you must, don’t nerf hammer abilities which have nothing to do about the OPness of cheese proffs ( like you said, shaving Larcenous strike boon stealing is a worthless move, won’t change anything).
You say you understand there needs to be a good balance between risk and rewards: show us.
Kill spirit ranger build, nerf S/D thief porting, perma stun wars, and necro condi spam. Give us a possible counterplay to burning procs or totally remove them.
These things by themself would balance risk vs reward without doing overhauls like the OP suggests.
I wouldn’t keep my hopes up. A-net has continually shown limited knowledge about proper risk and reward balance. The stronger specs have almost always been face-rolling nonsense an average player could master in a couple days. Thats how something becomes FOTM fast its easy to play and over-powered.
Don’t worry you guys will be OP as kitten again once they nerf warrs, s/d thiefs and necros.
Ele does not need buffs. Trust me once its back to burst meta every team will run double ele again
I’ll believe this when it happens. Hopefully it won’t be the type of “nerfs” spirit rangers got who were still very well represented at MLG.
Did the team with the most Ai win?
Nope. That’s the ironic part!
So the team with the most Ai did not win, what does that say about the point the OP is attempting to make?
It doesn’t necessarily say anything. For it to say what you are indicating you would have to assume equal skill level on both teams and that the outcome was purely class based. The sad fact of the matter is that despite being so called “nerfed” people at the higher end of the game still feel that spirit rangers are very strong.
Welcome to GW2 PvP. The game: pretty fun. Worst thing about it? The community. Sorry it happened to you so soon.
Have to agree with this one.
The best part: Some of ones abusing people come to the forums after and complain about people leaving teams. The lack of knowledge about social behavior and how your actions affect other people is at times scary.
There is a little thing called ignore or you can just turn off chat channels. I know people like to act like all sorts or strategy is discussed in solo q and hotjoin but 90% of the time I do better going by instincts honed doing 2000+ tournaments then any nonsense spewed out in chat that most of the time only a couple people follow. Also, really people need to get a little thicker skin and learn to just shrug stuff off. Don’t play competitve games if you can’t deal with people get annoyed from time to time. I’m not excusing this behavior I am just saying it can be dealt with and people should learn to deal with it or it is going to be a life filled with getting upset with anything. The proper response is to say this guy is a jackwagon and just ignore them. There are tools in place people need to learn to use them.
(edited by Kwll.1468)
we are downright neglected.
I’m fine with balance discussions, but stuff like this is hard to deal with. The devs do not “neglect” your profession. They created your profession and make little tweaks to it constantly to try to improve on it and make it more balanced, just like they do with the other professions.
If you disagree with a decision, or hope to see a certain change, that’s fine. But claims that the devs are running a conspiracy to ignore or punish certain sections of the playerbase…it’s impossible to believe and tarnishes any good points that might otherwise be made.
Its a matter of perspective. Elementalists have been crap for months now. It is not unfrair to say they have been neglected in some people’s eyes. It doesn’t matter the reason why in the real world to most people. You can make 8 thousand excuses for A-net and why something doesn’t happen but you can’t change the fact they have let elementalist be weak for months. So keep making excuses for things we know nothing about, what the A-net devs spend there time on and what they are told to spend there time on, and I will stick to 100% known fact which is elementalists are weak and have been for a long time.
Duh you are not suppossed to kill a thief is he doesn’t want to die.
No one can defend this current system. The quality of matches is garbage 50% of the time or more. I would say the average score in most matches is about 500-200 win or lose. It’s a joke its been allowed to go on this long solo q came out almost 2 months ago. I see no reason to believe any kind of fix is inc in the next month at a minimum. Quality of life stuff is killing spvp and A-net is glacial with those types of fixes. How hard can it be to add some kind of thing that randomizes the two rosters that are selected right before the match starts. How it works know is it will grab 5 highly ranked players and then it will grab another 5 who may or may not be anywhere near as highly rated. It needs to take those 10 players and award them as equally as possible between two teams. How can’t they see this? Even if a dev would just address this with there thoughts and what they are thinking about doing to address this would go a long way.
Wake me up when it is has a reasonable cooldown. A-net almost seems afraid of making certain traits useful.
They don’t even have a way to stop these matches from starting so of course they are going to count. There roster system is stone age stuff and not being able to replace missing players on the fly is stone age stuff they should be embarrassed.
This game isn’t difficult at all. As a matter of fact just knowing the proper way to assault the right points and understanding conquest mode is 95% of it.
Thieves are totally broken right now. They are basically unbeatable one versus one and can disengage at will and do insane damage. The people that defend them are usually bad thieves. The same can be said for Warriors as well. Close to unbeatable 1v1 and can disengage at will and very high damage. A-net has no clue how to boost classes without doing it by adding op cheese. Its sad really. In every other game thieves have the initial advantage and then are vulnerable the longer they stay around to fight. That is not the case in this game. Revealed needs to be longer like 10 seconds. Ive never seen more nonsensical game play then the blinking in and out of stealth in combat that goes on in this game. Its totally ridiculous. Thieves pop into stealth at 40% health and then come out a few seconds later at fullhealth. Also, damage should break stealth that’s how it works in every other game Ive ever played. A-net knows better though. They always know better then every other game developer.
(edited by Kwll.1468)
Personally, if we are talking about solo q I am not a fan of anybody assualting the far point solo ever. It takes too long to kill even an average bunker and if the other side doesn’t send one person to your point and you bunker it to start then you are going to be outnumbered at mid point. The best way to win in a pure pick up environment of randoms imo is to just focus on your home point and the middle laser like. Sure on certain maps when you can see the far point easily from close to the middle if they just leave it open during a brief lull in fighting go take it.
I could have swore they said they were adding new pvp amulets soon. I really don’t have the energy to dig up but I believe it was a post also mentioning htat they were going to remove the water from temple of silent storm. It was right from a dev. I have no clue what they will be but I saw it for sure. I personally think its ludicrous to think that A-net can look at stat combinations and tell without a doubt what is acceptable or not for spvp. That would require hours of testing and if anything has been shown it is that these guys are given very few resources to develop spvp.
(edited by Kwll.1468)
This is probably the worst testament to match making I’ve ever been a part of in this game.
How on earth does anet allow a match to start 0v5??
I don’t get why players don’t understand this. There aren’t enough players queuing so they allow for this unbalanced matches.
A match shouldn’t start until two rosters are full. If they can its a bug or A-net changed something with solo q. When I used to do a lot of team queue matches you can watch your roster and the game wont start until you have five. You can’t see the rosters with solo q but team queue I never had a match start where I didn’t see five people on my roster. I do not believe A-net allows for this to happen as I said bug or people are quitting somehow in that short window you have to accept the queue and before you are forced to to accept right before the match starts. Why are there such long queues if A-net is intentionally allowing unbalanced matches?
(edited by Kwll.1468)
This is ludicrous. Without stealth in any 2 v2 a thief would be targeted and spiked down fast even with all the evades some specs have. Its better to be able to basically force the opposition to have to take down another class which will certainly be harder to kill then a thief. Also, in any 2 v 2 both sides should be focusing on one target regardless. One player will always have 2 people targeting him.
Excellent points all around. Matchmaking and Leaderboards are the two issues that are going to drive me from the game soon if they aren’t addressed You are right that low population should not be that big of a problem if the roster system wasn’t so lame as currently constituted. As you said 10 people should be selected and parcelled out between two teams as even as possible according to rating. What A-net did is what is called taking the easy way out doing as little work as possible by just copying over how team queue works.
Im not a big fan of assualting the far point in casual pick up play. You usually have some idiot that goes there after its turned already and the bunker there easily handles them until they get help and they don’t even turn the point neutral half the time because they cant get the bunker off the point. Then use lose at the middle because the other side didn’t send an assaulter to your home point and they have four at the middle to your three if you have a home point bunker and a guy assaulting there home point. Far point assualting is for coordinated teams in VOIP imo where everyone has very specific roles unless they just hand it to you by having no one there.

The solution is to stop worrying about your Solo Arena ranking.
Better yet, delete it altogether from the website.
No matter what measures ANet takes, Solo arena will forever remain a PUG fight and should never be considered “ranked” in any sense.
Unless they change it to 1v1.
Ok, thanks for the elitist team only matters nonsense coupled with almost zero understanding of why people are complaining. I guess I should just grin and bare it as my team gets anal probed for 10-15 minutes because we are down a man. It goes far beyong leaderboard rank although that is surely part of it.
I was ranked 60~ on EU solo q. I only say that to counter any high tier doesn’t get dc’s/4v5s etc comments.
I had 3 matches in a row during EU prime time. All of them were 4v5. 1 skyhammer was a true 4v5 as they never showed. (The score was 500-380, good chance if it was true 5v5 we could of won.) Another skyhammer where someone dc’d early before the start and match continued (why do matches start 4v5? It’s insulting)150-0. They came back online we only lost 500-480… Guess who was suppose to win that? Next round was a 400-350 double cap and neutral in our favor (we were the 400) got a dc for the rest of the match…. and lost 500-470… Guess who should of won that….
WTF srsly? My rank tanked over 160 places (must of been some low rankers on other team)… This is kittened. Who can even STAND TO PLAY when more matches than not are 500-100 blow-outs.rank 1-20’s in top tier solo q’s (had that too. Guess who lost that round as well…) Like srsly… Everyone knows this game isn’t competitive but its beyond fun at this point as most matches aren’t remotely close.
Screw fixing the balance Lets focus on fixing the QoL first. Then balance.
4v5s at start, completely BS matchmaking, skyhammer leavers and never showing, and A-nets side of lag (which on multiple occasions after patches makes pvp un-playable for a few days).
Solutions?
I totally agree about QoL fixes first and foremost. Balance is important but we still have important game features, that big surprise, aren’t close to working properly after existing for months. If matchmaking, leaderboards, and 4v5/afk aren’t fixed in the next 4-6 weeks Im done with this game.
I guess being the least played class in rated pvp is not a sign of weakness at all but player stupidity. Yeah right.
The people that just dismiss this are totally wrong. Rank is tied to certain armor skins and in the future you never know what rewards A-net might add to the game that are tied to rank or glory. They have mentioned numerous times they will be adding more rewards to spvp. Any kind of exploiting is wrong and should be rectified.
I doesn’t matter that cc is short duration because there is no immuity or diminshing returns. Also, almost no games have long duration cc anymore so it doesn’t really matter that its short. Short is the new standard. Sensible designers understand that being chained CC is not fun for the player and is bad gameplay. Leeto wanna be e-sports game designers I guess think its just fine and dandy to be able to theorectically lock someone in place until they are dead if stun breaks are down. Its your fault for being a baddie!
I don’t know how anybody can claim guild wars 2 has many people playing its pvp unless we are talking about hotjoins and custom arena’s which as far as I am concerned are some kind of illegitmate child of pvp. The amount of people regularly taking part in ranked arena matches is quite small when you consider this game sold millions of copies and is free. 5-10 minute queue (sometimes longer) times tells me that ranked arena pvp = not popular
I just think that will discriminate against people who have different schedules. I am all for some kind of minimum ammount of matches though per week or faster decay or some kind of system that rewards your for playing more and winning. The current system is a joke.
Regarding #1, I still think SC2 has the best ladder system (with leagues and bonus pool). The bonus pool promotes playing the game, and the league system gives lower-ranked players something to achieve (e.g., from bronze to silver).
It’s a good idea but A-net has not said one thing about what they plan to do, if anything about all the people that don’t or barely play there game that clutter up the leaderboards, and thats sad. Leaderboards have been around for months. If they don’t tighten up the leaderboards and match making in the next month or two Im probably done witht his game.
There should be no auto log in to matches (you should have to accept manually) and if the match is 4v5 after the countdown it should end. Is it that hard? The afk people are even worse then the people who somehow never load in. How does that happen by the way? Does somebody log off during the countdown to a match? Are people that disrespectful of others?
Here is the deal what I am talking about is when there are 2 warriors on both sides in solo q, which is a very frequent occurance, its ludicrous the ammount stun spam and awkward combat. That can’t be A-nets vision for the game. Why can’t classes be fixed without adding cheese. Every pvp MMORPG I have ever played that took pvp seriously chain cc builds have always been nerfed. Being able to basically loop a certain form of cc over and over again is bad game design. The end.
agreed. u see the small version of whatu see in wvw. in wvw there is entire zergs containing 90 percent stunlock warriors, then guardians and necros, nothing eles. its a mass cc spam all at the same time and if u get hit by 1 of them u melt without even having a chance to clock or react.im sure this is not what anet intended.
The people trying to defend this are using very narrow situations of one warrior scenarios. Unfortunately that is not how it works. Once something becomes fotm the flood gates open. There are like a 1 billion warriors running around with cc heavy builds right now. Sure I can deal with one warrior generally. But its almost never just one. I am not even asking for them to take this away tommorrow without compensation or anything like that. Just find a just way to nerf it and when you do add some other compensation at the same time.

Being able to basically loop a certain form of cc over and over again one target is just bad game design imo. Especially in a game with no diminshing returns on cc. It makes stun breaks worthless also.

I have no problem with warriors being strong but the ability to just spam cc is ruining a lot of solo q matches which frequently have 2-3 warriors per side. I don’t want to here about stun breaks or dodging I run 2 stun breaks and am a guardian with vigorous precision and energy sigils. It is not good game play all these people running around chain stunning. In team queue it wouldn’t work as well but with five strangers its so op if you have a couple warriors that know what they are doing with hammer.

Not really. How many mesmers were in the Pax tournament with the last few teams? A good player can always beat less skilled players even with a weaker class. Mesmers are a very good 1 v1 class still and that’s about it.
