I’m not saying this isn’t a problem because it is (there should be 0 games starting less then 5v5) but my personal experiences is that it is less then 1 out of 10 games that start out uneven. The vast majority of the ueven matches the game starts 5v5 and if somebody leaves its on the losing side when they start getting landslided.
I’d rather play temple over and over then ever play Skyhammer or Spirit Watch.
We dont need deathmatch per se but why cant killing be worth more and be a viable point scoring alternative to pure conquest. Rift and Warhammer had scenarios with capture points but you could win matches just by killing the other team over and over again. Those games probably leaned too heavily toward killing but why cant we have a nice balance between points mattering and kills mattering. 5 points for a kill woohboy! I would be happy with an increase to 10 or 15 points per kill A-net could crunch the numbers I have no idea how many kills there are in an average tournament game.

No duh he is beating weaker teams. But my response to that is he is winning and when you win you should be be consistently playing better teams and if you continue winning should be going up not down. Right now its a random crapshoot and if the population of highly rated players is small when you are on you will never be able to get past point x on the ladder even if you win a pretty high clip because you rarely play better players when you win because they aren’t there to play. How in the world is that fair? This rating system will only work right with a much large population of active spvp players. In the meantime I think the rating decay should be much stiffer there are many phonies that play very few games just enough to keep themselves high on the board. Playing a lot and winning a lot should be valued more then playing a little and winning a lot because the more games you play the closer to your true rating /skill level you will get. Anybody can get fairly long lucky streaks or cheat (synch queue) in a relatively small ammount of games.

Nice sarcasm. But you have to admit pvp in this game is just not that popular. Thats why the rating system struggles to make good matches often and in prime time I often get 5-10 minute queues. That doesnt mean the game wont have a small dedicated group of pvp players for years or even make changes that will grow it but surely you aren’t suggessting that pvp is very popular?
Rank doesnt necessarily matter and the matchmaking system is hampered by the limited ammount of players available to match against you at any given time. The game does not wait a long before putting you in with the best available fit and that fit could be people a lot lower rating wise. Now if people want to say they are willing to wait a lot longer to guarantee more competitive matches that is fine but to ignore the elepant in the room, which is how unpopular spvp is, is ridiculous to act like A-net could just jigger there match making today without increasing queues significant and fix everything is ludicrous.
I have no problem killing warriors in spvp. Just a little more challenging. WvWvW has so many ridiculous variable in it makes balancing for that impossible imo stuff like food and ridiculously high stat levels.
As far as I am concerned for something like solo arena a win should never drop you signifcantly. Its not the players fault that spvp is unpopular and the pool of players is small or that you got put into a uneven match. You should be matched against appropriate skill level/rated players in every match and beating them should not be a big negative and would not be in a system that worked correctly. I understand in team pvp you might group with lower ranked friends intentionally and face lower rank players and get bad wins and get penalized for it that way but in a solo q it is A-nets fault not the player that the matchups are so poor most of the time.

Ya’ll just like to complain for no reason at all. This minimap is a great polish to the old one. The bugs go away after a few days after it is released. Be patient and stop complaining about a free update.
There shouldn’t be any bugs of this magnitude. A-net does crappy internal testing with almost no input/help from the community and big surprise they have tons of bugs even compared to your average MMORPG which are always very buggy. We understand its the nature of the beast but this needs to be fixed now not in a couple of days.
I’m not saying this is what happened but you could have been double capping and just circle jerking points/zerging in general. Thats the worst kind of match when you have 3/4 people hitting 1 point at a time capping it and then immediately moving to the next meanwhile the other side constantly owns 2 points because 1 or 2 people are left to defend 2 other points against 5 people. That is not winning play and people can tell when you are doing it. Its impossible to say why but its odd that multiple people would be complaining if you did nothing wrong. There can always be one jerk but you got to admit why would multiple people be complaining?
Guardians are bad and need buffs and by the Six Anet pls make us heal for more and do more damage. And more mobility and CC too please, like cripples. Thx.

As for what Virtue of resolves heals for per tick lets just say I think its awesome I can really crystalize how poor it really is. Regen in this game are weak and are barely effected by hp so what are you going to do you know what I want to increase virtue of resolve healing by 20 points lets me add a bunch of healing power!
No. They need to flat reduce the damage aoe does. Every other MMORPG that has some kidn of pvp gets wise and does it eventually. AoE damage is meant to slowly pressure multiple people off an area/wear them down if they don’t move not to spike multiple people down if they dont move immediately off a spot.
Why do people ask for certain rank when with leaderboard or just a try out you can find excellent players. The leaderboards are far from only rank 50+. Most people reach 99% of there skill cap well before rank 50 plus. Also, what quite a few rank 50 people do is just farm hotjoins and do a very small ammount of ranked matches. There are more awful rank 50+ people then you can shake a stick at.
Whats going on is this game isn’t that popular and there is a very limited pool of players to match you with at any time barring adding very long hard queues. People really don’t seem to grasp the fact that this game sold millions of copies. There would be instantaneous pops of matches if this game had a real pvp population. Most people bought this game and hated spvp. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Autopilot play needs to be nerfed. The end. If it means that certain classes need significant re-working so be it. You can’t have a game that is suppossed to be about skill and then have all this passive crap that is very strong.
There are only 2 ways you can have a very high win percentage (80%+) doing solo queue and thats either synch queuing or there is some kind of bug to exploit or leaving matches is bugged and doesn’t cound as a loss. I don’t care how good people think they are there is not an unlimited pool of players 24/7 and you will be matched with inferior teamates often enough that would should lose a fair ammount otherwise.

Yep this game was doing so great that even though it sold millions of copies the pvp aspect of it only has about a couple thousand serious players in North America and Im strecthing the term serious I would use it to mean people that do at least 10 ranked matches a week. All those things mentioned here are problems in a game that is suppossed to be mostly about skill. Builds that rely heavily on AI are in fact broken and have no place in this game because it is like half the class is autopilot. I don’t know how people can rail against powerful passive abilities and think powerful pets are just a-ok. Its the same kitten thing.
Another excellent video stunning. I actually finally got into a solo q match with you the other day. I was runnign the same exact spec lol. People never want to think outside the box is my personl opinion but I agree in a lot of situations your build is better then a full bunker even in team tournaments. Dodge is so op in this game and you have plenty of dodges. If you can keep dodging over and over again and add to that superior dps what else is really better?

Whit the last updates and fix, the guardian’s not the best bunker. it can live a little longer than other classes, but engi, necro, ele and warrior bunker can kill. A guardian can’t kill anyone. It’s only longer to kill, nothing more.
I’ve a excellent warrior bunker/banner that survive more than a guardian, has a very good CC skill and stun, has a good ranged weapon and deal damage.
And I’ve an excellent DPS Guardian.If you want, you can go DPS.
Huge damage, good survavibility (every meditation give you 1800-1900hp), condition removers and can move good whit the 3 of the GS and the 2 of the sword.
It’s a hard build to use, but if you learn how to use it you can do high damage and survive.
You must use the healing skill to block enemy attacks, the same for the 5 of the focus and active your virtue then use the elite to reobtain and be invulnerable for 3 sec.It’s a little vulnerable against conditions and it’s a build more for 1vs1 than for 5vs5, but if you defend the base you will fight 1/2 enemy at time, not all the enemy team, ad that build work good. Or you can go steal the enemy base.
Whit that build I can kill thief, warrior, ele, mesmer, guardian and sometime ranger. it’s hard kill a engi or a necro whit this build, or a ranger in full condition sword/dagger.
Try it.
Bunkers arent suppossed to be killing people. Guardians are still the best bunkers. I know he doesn’t want to play one but really don’t say stuff that isn’t true. Taking longer to kill that is basically the essence of bunkering lol. As for the topic there are tons of non bunker guardian builds check Silvens sticky it has tons of them.

GW2 is not an esport if it was I wouldnt have to wait 5-10 minutes for matches.
Doesn’t work to do all that. People either want to learn or they don’t and if they want to learn they will figure out over time themselves either through trial and error or doing research. Before solo q there was still tons of solo newbs in team queue and explaining strategy didnt work with a most of them either. A lot of these people dont care they dont take advice and they dont even read chat.

The issue is the population base is too small and the game is programmed to just jam in the best fit in a small period of time so as not to have outrageous queues. They need to re-randomize twice before a match starts. That is the fix. So what happens is you get put on a roster and then when filled with 10 it randomizes again. That will get rid of a lot of the synch quueue. The rest can not be fixed because there is not an unlimited supply of players of all ranks available at all times.
Of course it works i tested it last night with three people. 2 games. One we all got in and another 2 of us got in the same game. We can argue whether in the grandscheme of things if its a big deal and what can be done about but to deny it you have your head in the sand and should just shut up imo. There has been proof plastered all over this forum in screen shots and anecdote. Its not fool proof but the population of people queueing for tpvp at any moment is pretty small and if you queue at the same time you have a few good chance of being on the same team. Why does it bother people to admit this is happening? Stop being delusional over how many people are playing this game for tpvp. Tpvp is not that popular.

Playing the builds they want is not the problem its the total disregard or lack of understanding the of right kind of play to win 5v5 tounaments. People just zerg around points and half of them don’t seem to know how to finish or rez. I played team queue with 2 others last night and while we lost bad a few times the overall experience was way better then the basically hotjoin level of play in a lot of the solo queue matches. I am hoping that after a bit these people will get tired of losing all the time and go back to farming hotjoins.
A-net should hire you. You just outlined the ideas for a true soloqueue way better then what they came up with. I would be happy for starters with them randomizing the ten selected for a match after the ten are randomly chosen. That would basically destroy synch queuing or at least make it much more difficult and its something that should have been in from day 1 of solo queue.
Two good people is enough to throw things off unfortunately Have you been doing solo q? My experiences is that at least a quarter of the matches that are true random versus randoms are clown affairs where two coordinated people would certainly lead to victory. Don’t get me wrong I am very supportive of 2 and 3 man group play (its what I did when I wasnt solo I have 2 good friends that I play with sometimes) and its basically dead now sadly. Not sure what they can do. Basically you are forced into full team or solo play now unless you want to lose all the time.

vote for 3 stacks, disconnects can happen once or twice, when you get third, fix your internet before you make other people lose their games and kitten their ratings.
I´d also like an option where i can decline a matchup due to unfair/unbalanced teams/comps, cause it sucks playing when you already know you cant win cause you dont have any class that can fight on a small node during the teamfight or go for rezzes etc, on some maps you just cant avoid teamfighting. Same with 5xhighrank palyers vs a team with a low rank palyers wich is almost 4v5
Im already getting 5-10 minute queues at 11:00 PM eastern time in the united states quite often which is not exactly off peak. I can’t support anything that could lead to even longer queues like the ability to decline a match just because you don’t like what you randomly have.
Everyone should just accept this and move on. The solo q system is awesome because:
1, If you do make a team now you know you face a team which is good.
2, It is fun to compete against non-meta set upsEveryone knows there are a group of “well known” pvpers who will teamspeak and sync etc to get easy wins in solo q. But who cares? Just dont take the leaderboard seriously. It doesnt matter. The solo q games in of themselves are fun and worthwhile.
Losing can induce rage of course, but don’t get too involved in the leaderboards and you will see that all the QQ about solo q is unfounded. Solo q is amazing and helped this game so much, along with map rotation.
And I say this as someone with 2 accounts in the top 30 despite not being one of those serial syncers/teamspeakers. How? 1, I play necro. 2, I was lucky with teams – which I expect to end. 3, I have played very well. Despite this, being highly ranked doesn’t mean I am good. Because the whole leaderboard system is even more flawed than the team queue system (I though that impossible!).
So just chill out and play everyone.
To me its not that I care about ranking high on the leaderboard its just the principle of the matter and the fact that A-net never seems to think these things through. They know kitten well that in a truly random enviornment even the best shouldn’t be winning 80-90% or even 100% of there games from a mathematical standpoint. To me I would accept a post by them saying there was nothing they could do about it because its probably the truth the queues for these solo matches are like 5-10 minutes half the time just to get 10 people together. The sad fact of the matter is that tpvp is just not that popular. But it just stinks of incompetence.

The egotistical players that play this game and think they are god’s gift to gaming dont care because they really think(although Im not sure they really think this they just cover for there friends who they know are synching) somebody could go 20-0 based on there own skill even joined with complete randoms. Lets face it we are a couple of days into the solo q and the leaderboard is already ruined. GJ A-net /joke. If you notice A-net has not posted 1 time in any of these synch queue threads not even to say they don’t believe its happening or there is little they can do about it. Either of those things would be better then nothing. The moral to this story is that ranking very high on the leaderboards is not for anybody with any kind of ethics unless they want to spend the time and effort to have an elite 5 man team.
Be prepared to hear no one is synching and the people with 80-90% win percentages are all the Lebron Jame’s of guild wars 2.
As a high-rated player, I think sync queueing is completely overblown.

Some people are synching the winning percentages some people have are way out of line for a true solo queue. It doesn’t have to be a lot of people for it to be a problem its making the leaderboard invalid.
I guess that means I’m syncing queues with guys I have never even spoken a word to before.

Give it a few more days and we will know who is cheating for sure just by looking at w-l percentages on the leaderboard. We are not as kittenome of you cheaters think we are. The laws of probabilty do not support some of the ridiculous winning percentages we already are starting to see in a so called solo queue. Whether or not A-net can really do anything about it is another matter because unfortunately this game has a pathectic sized player base for tpvp considering the millions of copies of GW2 sold and there is a limited ammount of players in the queue in any couple minute time period. I was getting 5-10 minute queues at time last night which is ridiculous. Someone that queued at the exact same times as me would have had an extremly high chance of getting on my team.
Simple question. Why is there an aoe cap? And no, please do not come up with that “technical limitation” bull crap. There has been thousands games before this with massive pvp and no aoe cap, why would your engine be somehow so infernior to that of these older games?
Please show me all these “thousands games” with massive PvP, all I can think of is DAoC and that game was quite “weak” compared to GW2.
I would say that technical limitations is actually a rather good and logical answer, one can also assume that it might have to do with balancing and such as well.
If you think DAOC was weak compared to GW2 I would love to know what you are smoking. DAOC was and is the all time king of RVR. GW2 has nothing like the glory of relic raids.
They should remove skyhammer and Spiritwatch from the solo queue. If they aren’t considered good enough for team q why should they be foisted on solo q? It makes no sense the maps are either good for conquest type tournament play or they aren’t.
Solo queue leaderboard will be a joke because of synch queuing not what you are suggesting. What you are suggesting should even out over time given enough games. Surely, for example, if I played 1000 games and you played 1000 games do you really think one of us would be that much more lucky then the other concerning roster makeup over an extended period of time that any difference in ranking mostly wouldn’t be about who was the better player? You are looking at extremely small sample sizes. All we can ask is that the roster make up is based on rating and are completely random meaning all true solo players and not people trying to synch queue. If they do that it will all even out over time.

Its not even that syncers are ruining that many matches. It’s that they will invalidate the solo queue leaderboard. It takes away the chance of any normal solo q player playing the right way of every being ranked very highly.
Don’t play until A-net figures out what to do about synching.
Totally agree, I think people are expecting something perfect. Let’s just remind ourselves, the whole point of this is to be able to queue alone without facing premades. That doesn’t mean you will get queued with 4 pros and roflstomp every match. You get what you get, and you do your best to help your team win. Don’t expect it to be more than that, and I think you will enjoy SoloQ as much as I am
I’m not expecting anything perfect at all. But synch queuing A-net has to come up with some kind of elegant solution for or it just ruins the whole thing. Its ludicrous to say well just deal with it if you get a synched team. People with quit this game if they dont fix it. Solo q is fine when it works the way it’s suppossed to and produces random match ups based on rating. Is that too much to ask? Thats what we were promised.
None of those players play together on a regular basis. However, here is my thought process:
“Hey I just queued with a really good team. Maybe they’ll queue again. I should go queue!”
If those 5 players just left a game, odds are they’re queuing right around the same time. This is a fault for queuing not syncing.

Keep your head in the sand if you want. I’m also glad you have encyclopekittennowledge of every player in North America and who they play with. We are complaining because its obvious that synching is going. Denying it makes you part of the problem. There is tons of proof that synching going on from mathematically impossible w-l ratings in a true random environment to stuff like this. Of course people are going to complain the loudest right away we were promised a true solo q and its already rife with abuse. Why does this bother you? Have you been synching or having friends that have been synching? I would bet on one of those things. Why don’t you stay in your little premades and allow us more casual players to enjoy the kitten game!
We just have to look at certain players win-loss ratios to know synching is going on. Being a very good player is not valuable enough in itself to produce very high win/loss ratios in a true solo q environment. The people doing this should be ashamed of themselves and because of the relatively small ammount of people that do tpvp Im not sure there is a realistic fix. In a perfect world you would have hundreds or thousands of people doing solo q at any give time and it would make this almost impossible to do because if you had 100 people in the queue during any minute time frame it would be a very small chance of getting anybody together. Unfortunately you probably have 10 people in the queue in any minute time frame.
I have to admit I foolishly though synch queueing wouldn’t be a problem but based on my experiences last night and how long the queue takes in semi off peak times (5-10 minute waits routinely) there is no doubt in my mind that a few people queueing at almost the exact same time there is a good chance all or most would get on the same side. All it takes is 2 good people coordinating to vastly increase the odds of winning when the other side you are facing are true randoms. I am not sure really what A-net can do about this because the population of this game is just really not that good and evidence of that I will point to at 12:00 am est I am waiting 5 to 10 min for matches and routinely getting repeat people in the matches win or lose. So it looks like we are going to have meaningless solo queue leaderboards.

11-0 sounds a like a queue syncher to me. I hope A-net has some kind of idea what they should expect a true solo queue w-l record to look like and take some kind of action if we start see all these inflated records. Can this company do anything right? Just wondering.
If people are synch queueing get a life you losers and if I see you doing it in a match Ill go out of my way to try to make your life miserable especially if its certain high ranking N/A people that I know are not much more then human trash to begin with. Learn to lose occasionally.
