@Edelweiss
Invis does not mean invulnerability. Stop trying to spread BS to validate yourself.
Sick of these scrubs spreading misinformation to justify nerfs.
I think the excellent point that the OP is trying to make clear is that in its current state thief will never be balanced. Being based around one-button spam builds means that either the “button” will be overpowered or it will be underpowered.
Which button would that be?
If you’re a guardian struggling against a thief, it’s not a problem with the game.
Thieves aren’t overpowered, if you can dodge a thief’s attacks (highly unlikely), mitigate their damage or stun them, they’re pretty much kittened. Well if they survive that then it probably means their damage to you wasn’t that high to being with.
how you dodge something you dont see?
rly stop with L2P comments its getting old
Thiefs are broken class, even with power, thougnes, vit set thiefs hit like truck becouse of 100% crit chance in stealth (most op skill ever dont need precision gear)
and yes thiefs can be in stealth all the time
You know what else is getting old?
The QQing, backed with exaggeration to try and validate points. Throw in a load of biased opinions, with no facts to back them up whatsoever.
L2P may be overused, but generally it’s the right answer.
The only thing possibly OP about the thief currently is the Assassins Signet.
ANet should IMO revert the PW nerf and take a serious look at Quickness.
Or they could just listen to all the whiners here and just destroy the class altogether. That should be good for the game!
I’m hoping ANet revert their PW nerf and fix the real issue which was Quickness.
I’m guessing glass cannon back stab builds are next on the chopping block with all the rather loud QQing going on here. Judging by the PW nerf, I’m guessing they’ll make the same mistake and just flat out nerf BS dmg, instead of looking into the real problem (if any), which I’d say is Assassins Signet.
What I’m really hoping for is a split in PvE & PvP skills as i have no confidence left in their balancing team. Just another game caving to the QQers.
I don’t think karma is reward enough for doing story modes.
I still have a couple I want to do as well, but it’s next to impossible to find a PUG to do them.
It’s broken?
This is news to me since I’ve been PUGing it constantly all week!
Have you thought maybe the problem is on the user’s end and not the dungeon? Crazy notion i know.
I’m playing one of the squishiest classes in the game (thief) and don’t get one shotted by Alpha. My suggestion to you is don’t play a glass cannon if you don’t know how to dodge effectively.
Have you tried the Mesmer?
They’re the ultimate misdirection profession in GW2.
@ Wilhelmryman
FINALLY SOMEONE GETS IT
Firstly, you are confined to the small radius of the shadow refuge circle. Then as soon as you strike someone, you lose stealth.
Seems fine to me.
I don’t care what ANet implement, but something needs to be put in place to make finding a party to run a specific dungeon easier. Spamming LFG while standing around in LA is not what I consider fun or social.
The LFG tool already in game is useless, why don’t they just fix that?
Fact: Thief is going to be nerfed.
Its not a L2P issue, its a broken mechanic issue and the might nerf bat is going to come down upon you.
And yes people are complaining about condition thieves as well because really what can you do against most of them?
Perfect example: You claim a thief is a glass cannon, okay. A glass cannon that can kill you before you can do anything to take advantage of that 90% of the time.
And the other is a condition thief not a glass cannon, but their mobility and surviablity is unrivaled.
The problem? In one word, stealth.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QEWOGcU61ng&list=PLdRu-1piROblxmQL9HcyqJKzgITtf9TTg&index=5&feature=plpp_video1 button spam ftw.
I play this build.. it isn’t 1 button.. and I encourage you to try it if it is so easy. Wild Bill is a freak at hitting his CnD’s and I regularly rewatch these videos to continue to get better at it and pick up the subtle things. Sure this build is very strong, but it has counters to which he himself would attest. Condition Necro’s can absolutely destroy this build and well place immobilizes and stuns also give it issues. Sure I’ve had those awesome 1v3 win moments with the build because of the defensive nature of stealth, but most of that was because those 3 people didn’t ever work together to try and take me down.
Just set Namu to ignore.
If you read his post history you’ll come to realise he’s just a scrub not willing to adapt or learn his class and would much rather scream & whinge on the forums demanding nerfs. You’ll find him stretching the truth quite often to try and validate his points. Truly sad.
Question:
You see a thief coming at you as say, a guardian he’s making a beeline for you clearly and you have a second or two to react
How many horrific counters do you have to his abilities that will leave him wondering why he bothered?
If you see a thief running at you as a guardian, you laugh and proceed to downing him in seconds.
Are you serious?
WHAT negative reviews??
You mean the reviews of those who don’t matter at all and are just complaining because they lack skill?
Almost every review given by credited sources have been fantastic. This game hasn’t gotten any bad reviews lol Not sure what people are complaining about..
LOL lack skill? this game is targeted to those that lack skill, and hate the idea of having to do any real work for gear upgrades.
I like the part where you backed up your claims with facts.
Oh wait…
The game is barely challenging solo. Add a couple of your mates into the mix and it’s a cake walk.
The only challenge at the moment is when I jump in a really really bad PUG to do an explorable.
The better thieves are the ones that don’t come here and cry every time there’s a nerf to an OP skill, because they understand and properly take advantage of stealth and shadowstep instead of using them as a crutch for a glass cannon.on.
And on the flip side, the better players don’t come here and cry every time they get killed by a thief, because they understand how to play their class and counter accordingly.
Not all gamers, just the ones that haven’t hit puberty.
Such an original topic.
You couldn’t add your rant to the other countless threads?
To answer your question, try another weapon set. There’s your choice. Not enough for you? Bad luck.
Well I get more gold running dungeons than farming Orr. I only visit Orr if I need ori, ancient wood or omniberries. The amount of people/bots that farm the crap outta that zone has turned me off to be honest. It’s just a really boring area now for me at least.
Until stealth if fixed/adjusted thieves will remain unbalanced.
What needs to be fixed/adjusted for stealth? The fact that channel skills hit them through it? Mesmer illusions hit them through it?
Taking damage while in stealth is fine.
The bug is that channeled skills are still locked onto you when you drop stealth, that needs to be fixed.
I’ve been finding lately that whoever attacks the mob first will usually keep aggro the longest. All other factors seem to only have a minor effect.
This is just an anecdotal observation, so take it with a grain of salt.
General open world PvE is pretty easy, especially if your running in a group it can become a joke. DEs need more fine tuning, especially in Orr as events there are just zerg fests and it’s becoming hard to even tag mobs as they die in a flash.
I’ve resorted to just running explorable dungeons in PvE, as that’s the only challenging content left IMO.
All I see and all I hear from the negative nancies that just want another WoW clone is.
“Time is money friend!” Thats all the WoW generation gamers care about because its all they’ve seen/experienced, not only in WoW but in post-WoW games too.
GW2 takes a step back through time, before WoW and bringing new ideas with them to make a Neoclassic original MMO.
If you want a WoW style MMO there are many out there to chose from, either fantasy or sci-fi. No need to nag on GW2 since most of us who bought it were very aware that it was nothing like WoW or the post-WoWpocalyptic clones.
This type of fanboy post is exactly what makes me laugh!
Kid, what we really wanted was that GW2 would be DIFFERENT from WoW. we criticize the game because it turned out to be ANOTHER WOW CLONE. Not the other way around.
Fanboys are sad.
Can you stop calling other posters kids, it really shows your own maturity level.
BTW GW2 is nothing like WoW. But you keep on spouting your opinions like their fact.
I can’t believe this hasn’t been fixed yet.
I encountered the same bug the very first time I decided to run an explorable. It left me with a very sour taste and i didn’t end up running another explorable for a couple weeks due to this experience.
If there was a automated dungeon finder:
-I would leave the group after the first wipe. I will not bother with changing tactics. The group is bad.
-I would kick anyone that is not wearing full exotic and is under level 80. They do not contribute as much as a level 80 player can.
-I would kick anyone that needs to afk because of real life reasons, they’re wasting my time.
-I will kick anyone that dies. If they require me to go resurrect them, I will kick them because they are awful players.
Why would I do that? Because it is easier to get someone more competent.
No no no.
The correct answer is because you’re a kitten.
Yes we definitely need something to make quickly finding a group to run any given dungeon with much easier.
Spamming LFG in Lions Arch just isn’t cutting it.
Magic find increases the chances of you finding magic items.
Legendaries are supposed to be very rare and extremely hard to obtain. This is in fact why they are considered legendary.
No amount of QQing will change this. So either put the effort in or forget about it.
Can people stop claiming THEIR OPINION as FACT?
Thanks
Since typing LFG in map chat is practically the only way to get a PUG together for dungeons, I’d say ANet should look into this. (Dungeon Finder?)
You don’t have to be spamming this to get your messages suppressed either. You just have to type in the same message 3 times. You should be able to get around this by altering your message every time, but it’s still annoying.
I’d suggest you read a guide on AC story mode. Once you know the tactics, it’s easy peasy.
I’m hoping it’s a bug and will get fixed soon.
Pretty frustrating sometimes.
None of the bots I’ve reported have been banned.
Hard to believe anything is being done.
You can’t balance a game around the noobs crying on these forums.
Quickness is the only possible nerf that can be justified. Anything else and you may as well delete the class.
@Martym
It’s a nice build if all your focused on is doing damage. But what happens in a dungeon when something farts in your general direction? You go down and there goes all that DPS you’re supposed to be doing.
I’d much rather some survivability so my team is not constantly ressing me.
Yep, pretty strange nerf.
As many have stated already, Quickness was the problem, not the PW skill.
Haha Devildoc, if those numbers are true, they’ve totally screwed this weapon set.
LOL
Did you actually read the thread Xsorus stole this pic from?
It’s no wonder he didn’t include the link in his OP. Just another noob crying for nerfs.
/thread
Thief: One nerf, one buff.
Nope, 2 nerfs to the thief. No buffs.
They made BV breakable by a stun break. Hardly a buff…
I’m not complaining, just wanted to correct that.
Yep, the only ones complaining are the people that don’t fully understand how to play their class. They get defensive when you suggest this as it hurts their poor little ego.
What’s funnier is people trying to prove an OP aspect by setting up these ridiculous situations that very rarely occur in a real PvP situation. It’s pathetic.
The sad thing is everything ANet has tried thus far to stop bots has only impacted legit players negatively while the bots thrive and multiply.
I don’t have much faith left in ANet. Their lack of communication on the issue doesn’t help either.
I agree, the game would be better without MF.
However I do like Threat Level Zero’s suggestion of getting the temp buff as a reward for taking down tough mobs like veterans.
None of this really matters though as MF is here to stay no matter what we say.
I never usually bother to check these forums as most of the time I’m too busy having fun in game, BUT…
The army of bots is just too ridiculous to ignore anymore. I’ve reported most I’ve come across, but there’s too friggen many and the ones I report are still there camping the same spot for days, sometimes weeks later!
I’m sorry ANet, you’ve let this get way out of hand and if it’s not fixed FAST, I’m done.
Shame… You have a quality game here, but your priorities seem to be way out of wack or you’re simply not up to the task of fixing some glaring issues.
Having the same prob too. Also using using SLI and only began after updating to the latest Nvidia driver.
So the only fix is to roll back?
I’m having the exact same problem you’re describing. It only started after downloading the latest Nvidia driver.
Hopefully someone knows what’s going on?
Hey guys, I suck and don’t want to adapt and learn my class. Can we just nerf the warrior instead?
I wish it was a bug. It was hit big time with a nerf during the betas. It may as well not be there at all in it’s current state, it offers nothing. 0.1% extra burst dmg per trait point? Very funny ANet!
This bug has been present since the betas. I don’t know why it’s taking so long to fix, it’s bloody annoying!
