Plzzzzz… If ANet balanced the game around all these pub scrub QQ threads, thieves only weapons would be pillows and stealth would not exist.
If they want to balance the game, they should focus on tPvP. You know for people that have a basic grasp on counters.

Actually they did officially say they’re specifically looking at the base damage for backstab right now, which is a good indication that it’s getting toned down.

Firstly, if you’re on a underpopulated server, then you’re fighting other underpopulated servers…
If you choose to be on the front lines all the time, which I do regularly myself, then that’s your choice isn’t it.
I don’t see a point in reducing armor repairs, there has to be some punishment for dying IMO. The repair costs are minimal anyway, I make plenty of gold playing WvW, I’ve never ever finished a session with less money than what I started with.
There’s no justifying this behavior, it’s just a tactic used by sore losers.
I don’t really see a problem with it. If Anet removed armour repairs from W3 then the amount of people logging out before death would drastically decrease.
Armor repair costs are no excuse for this pathetic tactic. What you save under 2 silver? just how often are you dying or are you that bad at making gold?

Resetting as soon as someone enters stealth seems like a bug to me. There should definitely be some leeway with this.

It’s just the usual suspects here, spewing the same garbage over n over. They won’t be happy until the thief is useless.
In all my hours played in WvW, I’ve only ever been killed by the Basilisk/C&D/Steal/BS once… ONCE!!! Only because I was typing when the thief attacked.
Usually when these glass cannons try this on me, they end up dead or fleeing.
I don’t even know why I bother posting here anymore to be honest, this sub forum should just be called the whingers corner. The complainers never listen to good advice and continue begging for nerfs. The developers eventually cave, the class gets weaker and people call it quits cause they’ve had enough. Then the complainers move onto the next ability they can’t deal with and the cycle continues.

I just think it’s stupid free transfers are still available. Obviously this played a big part in SoS having a huge showing in WvW this week, while also leaving HoD practically empty.
Look at the graph… Boring match for all 3 sides and it lasts a whole week……

All I want is a balanced match ups. If whole guilds keep on screwing up the balance every week, then don’t expect WvW to stay populated.
The WvW population would be higher if they removed free transfers, added more incentives to leave the zerg, turned WvW into something rewarding instead of a money sink and fixed the rendering problems.

Implement 24hr matches if you’re not going to get rid of free transfers like you said was going to happen a week after release.
I started doing this after seeing others. But I only do it sometimes, like when fighting a thief who does his perma-stealth kitten over and over.. I’m sorry but I don’t feel that deserves any reward. Same when invisible zerg jumps on me. I’m not going to pay repair costs because the game is broken.
Advantages to ALT+F4 strategy:
- You pay no repair costs
- Your enemy gets no badges
When you login back to the game you’re dead but a good trick is to be in one of the big towns when going into WvW. In that case you don’t need to wait for others to rez you. Instead, you use one of the waypoints in that same town, which costs nothing. There isn’t even a loading screen.
ANet, plz add a 10 sec grace period to prevent more kittens like this from laming up the game.

If you wanted to know why free transfers are a bad idea, just take a look at the state of WvW. The balance is so out of whack, it’s just a joke. Why all these idiotic guilds thought it would be a great idea to totally screw a major part of the game is beyond me.

If you jump into stealth, you shouldn’t be able to be targeted and that’s the way it is now EXCEPT for channeled skills. Why do people think it’s okay for channeled skills to continue locking onto a target while in stealth? How can you still be locked onto something you can’t see?

Thats pretty much useless exploit because you’ll have to waste a lot of time on queues every time you do it. When/If they introduce “grace time” after disconnect – that would be another story.
As it is now – you have less enemies to worry about every time someone does it. For quick fix – forced kill of disconnected players if they are downed and in WvW would suffice (with full consequences like armor break and exp/loot awards).
What queues? There’s only queues on the weekends on my server, which has a full population. So log outters can keep abusing this all during the week with no consequences.
+1 for implementing a 10 grace period on logout. It’s already in most MMOs and is the simplest method for deterring this exploit.
Or he could just use a ranged channeled ability. That’s how most rangers drop me when i enter stealth. Something ANet needs to fix ASAP though in my opinion.
There are already many counters to stealth available in the game.
Besides, the big burst the OP fears has been toned down as of last patch.
I don’t get the OP though. He says he has an easy time when using his guardian or engi, so he’s asking to make it even easier?
It’s not like thieves are invulnerable while in stealth. They’re also rather squishy, especially if they’re playing the FotM cookie cutter BS build.
Let’s see him do that when there’s a queue. At any rate, the majority of player kills do not happen with players foolish enough to wander around by themselves (especially guardians, who fare much better than most classes when they have backup) but in group skirmishes, so this shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
That’s probably why I see it more often than others I guess. I tend to stay away from the zerg and usually roam solo or in a small group looking for small skirmishes.

He means server-side, not client-side. The character would remain in place 10 seconds after the connection between the client (program) and the server is cut.

Nothing left to fix except for channeled attacks still locking on when in stealth and addressing the rendering issue in WvW.
Okay, so I only noticed this the other day and now that I figured out what was happening I’m seeing it happen quite regularly. Let me explain by using the first instance this happened to me.
I spot a lone guardian in the open as I’m scouting an enemy supply camp, so I engage. I get him in the downed state quite easily and as I go for the finish move, he uses Wave of Light pushing me back and interrupting the stomp. I figure he’s just prolonging the inevitable and go in to stomp for the final time when he just vanishes… Gone, disappeared, with no XP awarded and no kill recognition.
Apparently instead of taking the death he would rather log off, thus not incurring any repair costs and leaving me dumbfounded that this is actually possible.
This might not seem like a big issue for some people, but since happening to me a couple days ago, I’ve counted at least 6 other fights where this has occurred. It not only frustrates me that such cheap tactics are allowed in the game, but also because quite a few people are actually doing this…
My suggestion is simple.
If someone logs off during WvW (or other PvP games), their character incurs a 10 second delay before vanishing, thus giving you ample time to get the stomp and preventing this lame tactic becoming more wide spread. I’ve heard other MMOs already do something similar to prevent this type of stuff, so I don’t see why GW2 can’t do the same.

This was actually a great update for thieves, not sure what the hell the OP is going on about.
Assassins Signet is now useful for a variety of builds now, not just the BS build. ANet clearly feel the damage thieves do is in the right spot.

I’d say the damage is already done. They should’ve stop free transfers a long time ago. My server is absolutely flooded with people that jumped on the band wagon. I originally picked it, because it wasn’t a high pop server. Now I’ve made my home there, I don’t want to change, so I just have to live with all the scrubs that jumped ship from their own server that was doing poorly in WvW.
It really sux. ANet said free transfers would only be for the first week. I guess you just have to take anything they say with a grain of salt.
I’ve had many smooth dungeon runs with many set ups. 5 DPS can be fantastic if people know what they’re doing.
This just sounds like a user issue, not a game one.
My thief is ridiculously overpowered.
I can kill in basically 1 round of combat, any class.
I can stay in stealth, essentially forever.
I can out run, any class.

You know its f’d up when a thieve don’t even bother stealthing, just runs up and goes toe to toe with a warrior, destroys him then walks away, in pvp. Seen it happen a lot. Pvp matches are getting flooded with theives. Anyway its the current flavor I guess.

Thieves cannot perma stealth.
They are revealed as soon as they strike an opponent and cannot enter stealth for a set amount of time.
What you’re seeing is a WvW rendering bug, which effects all classes.

Can you stop BSing and spreading misinformation. You’re not helping your cause by talking out your kitten you do realise that right? ANet developed this game, do you somehow think you’re going to fool them with your lies?
It is simply not possible to have perma stealth. Anytime you strike an opponent, you lose stealth. You’re then hit with a stealth debuff, making it impossible to go back into stealth for a set amount of time.
