Brainhex Test- which type are you?

Per the OP’s original question, I’d say I fit into all four of those categories depending on what my mood is at the time I opt to play. If I’ve had a long stressful day, or I’m just in a bad mood, pvp is where I go. Time to kill some people, woot woot. If I feel like kicking back and relaxing, exploration and story are my typical go tos. It’s a beautiful world, so why not? Occasionally I’m feeling helpful or someone will say something in map chat that grabs my attention, which will bring out the chatty / social side of me. And then occasionally my inner skritt comes out to play and I feel driven to collect every achievement point I can get my claws on. Like this past weekend working through the LA Karka hunt collection. Despite repeatedly making myself motion sick, I just “had” to complete it.

So, given my current mood, I’m not surprised that the quiz result pegs me as thus:

Your BrainHex Class is Conqueror.
Your BrainHex ClassYour BrainHex Sub-Class is Conqueror-Seeker.

You like defeating impossibly difficult foes, struggling until you eventually achieve victory, and beating other players as well as finding strange and wonderful things or finding familiar things.

According to your results, there are few play experiences that you strongly dislike.

Your scores for each of the classes in this test were as follows:
Conqueror: 20
Seeker: 16
Achiever: 14
Mastermind: 10
Survivor: 9
Socialiser: 6
Daredevil: 3

Mastery order

Best order? Not a clue.

Once I get started on the HoT content, I’ll probably do:
Gliding T1 -> Itzel Lore T1 -> Nuhoch Lore T1 -> Gliding T2 -> Gliding T3, and then not sure what after.

Since I’m starting with Halloween stuff, the first thing I’m working on is Pact Commander. And if I complete that, I’ll start the legendary line.

I was looking into that just now. It says no exp required for Pact Commander on the wiki. My understanding from reading Dulfy is we get Mastery Points for doing Season 2 living story and use that to unlock the Pack Commsnder.

http://dulfy.net/2015/08/07/gw2-central-tyrian-masteries-livestream-notes/

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Tyria_mastery_track

I noted that it had 0 xp on the wiki. I wasn’t sure if we just didn’t have data or what, and I didn’t recall it being mentioned on the stream. I knew we were getting a mastery point per LS2 episode, but I would imagine it would require more than just MPs (since we’re getting several from the rest of the core game retroactively as well). But if that’s all that one takes, then I’ll like be all set. But that makes 0 sense, so I do sort of expect some level of xp grind for it.

Yah. I read it over several times trying to figure it out. It seems though that if it was unknown exp it would say that rather than 0 XP. It’s also strange if it should be unknown when the others are known.

If they wish to hand us a completed mastery line at login, I certainly won’t complain. Lol.

Lol nope, 0 complaints if they’d like to just say “here ya go.” I’m rewatching that stream to see if they mention XP and I just missed it before.

Edit: Ok rewatched. Wow, I totally forgot about the Melandru backpack recipe that we can get with that line. (Like I needed to be “more” excited)

But anyway, at 26:00 Josh does say that “masteries” (not specifically this line) are all about earning points to unlock and then training with xp. At which point he goes on to say that LS2 episodes will reward a mastery point retroactively so that we’re “ready to work on” this mastery. Based on that, I’d say plan for a decent amount of xp farming.

Considering the action taken against other farms, I think chest farm is a blatant misconduct and should be dealt with; as people have said above, make chests visible to the character who located/dug them up only, and to compensate increase the drop rate of shovels considerably.

Those other farms were not nerfed because people were farming them.

champ farm was the ONLY thing people did in queensdale, likewise, chest farm is almost becoming the only thing people do in silverwastes when people have a plethora of keys.

Because after you have completed the achievements and collections, there’s not much other reason. If you nerf the farm then you nerf the number of people who even bother to come to the maps and those chest farmers do farm events too when they need more shovels and keys.

Are you sure that the anti-farming stance really isn’t just their anti-botting stance and those measures, such as diminishing returns, are not there to discourage botters?

I’m pretty sure they don’t want their content to feel grindy, if you find yourself just farming the same thing over and over, go spvp or wvw, or do some fractals/dungeons/etc.

Some people don’t find farming grindy. Some people actually find it relaxing. It doesn’t become a ‘grind’ until you start to feel ‘forced’ to do it.

I had a guildie in GW1 that was like this. She would farm for 8-10 hours a day, because she simply enjoyed doing it. I tried doing some of it with her, I was bored senseless in less than 15 minutes. So…to each their own.

well, I enjoy farming content that’s meant to be farmed (akin to fractals) but when it comes to farming the same events over and over, it does feel forced, because that’s the fastest way to get guaranteed loot with guaranteed silver return on each bag.

I wouldn’t personally define fractals as ‘meant to be farmed.’ Meant to by busy work, yeah. But by that token, it’s not any different than SW. That’s like saying dungeons were meant to be ‘farmed’ given that you have to do them a multitude of times in order to achieve their skin sets, but that’s not entirely accurate either. They were mean to be repeatable. Desirably repeatable, but not necessarily “farmed.”

I always assumed we’d need to do ‘something’ to ‘unlock’ the elite track. I didn’t expect it to be anything overly time intensive or challenging. Just something to fit it in, lore wise. Like a quest chain. After that it would just be a matter of spending hero points.

I guess we’ll see next week.

I’m thinking Mastery track. They did say there was more of them that they hadn’t told us yet. (And you’ll only need to do it once for all your chars since its account bound).

I thought they said they showed us all the mastery tracks that were launching with HoT? They said 7, and we’ve seen 7 haven’t we? But maybe, could be. I don’t think it would be necessarily lore appropriate, but that’s just me.

Why halloween at release of HoT?

Rye, you do realize that the way you just stated it, you do very much care that you “have to wait” to do the new HoT content. It wouldn’t matter if it was due to the xpac being postponed or due to Halloween, look at the way you phrased it. You DO care, and you feel pressured into changing your plans, and it irks you. Thus, the whole initial point of your post calling “poor timing.”

Edit Besides, when they told us it was coming in October, most of us figured Halloween would come right around the same time. We just didn’t figure we’d get anything new (which we were wrong about).

The expansion isn’t going anywhere, and Halloween is only two weeks. Think of it as an excuse to level your core Tyrian masteries.

That is what i am going to do, get the halloween rewards and hopefully get more 20slot bags if they are available again.

I think I’ll be doing a combination of things personally. I’d like to get reaper unlocked on my primary necro, work on the pact master line a bit, and maybe use mad king’s lab to do some revenant leveling. And that’s not even considering the long hours to farm those new minis and back pieces (which likely includes lots of dungeon runs).

Gonna be a very busy two weeks….

I have a few thousand crests too, wasn’t sure if the Stolen Goods where a good investment. Doesn’t seem like it was the best time to gold ratio given the amount of crests for the gold return. (Which would be even less for me considering how I horde mats lol)

I am under the impression that what that sentence is saying is that the only common material between the first gen gift and the second gen gift will be the bloodstone shard. What is your hardest class to play?

in PvP

Posted by: LanfearShadowflame.3189

LanfearShadowflame.3189

I would say that instead of class you should focus on specific builds instead. For example, a FT HGH Engi is pretty strong but not that hard to play. However, a Static Discharge Engi can be one of the hardest builds to run and do well with since much of its sustain is based around blasting your water fields and it’s not great against heavy burst and there are many ways to counter the Discharges.

Most classes have at least one hard to play build (that is also at least somewhat viable) and then a build that practically plays itself.

That’s a fair point. For example, I can’t play a fresh air scepter/focus ele worth a kitten (I can’t get the swaps and skills off fast enough because of my ping), but I do ok on cele dagger/dagger or staff.

Engi in general gives me issues 1) because of all the skills I have to remember, and 2) all the ground targeting. Doesn’t seem to matter what build I try, I think they all use grenades and I just can’t seem to be able to move and toss those things. (Although I’m sure it’s probably quite funny to watch me try)

Doc, I seem to have the opposite problem. I have a couple hundred keys that I’ve been looking to use, but can never seem to find a CF map. Maybe it’s just the time of day?

Time of day and server I am sure. Just like the old champ trains. I really do think there should be a map devoted to farming…some kind of challenge maybe to balance the gain, but give the farmers something. Otherwise it is a battle one way or the other for who gets their way. That’s not the fun kind of PVP…lol

Lol No, no it’s definitely not (the fun kind of pvp).

I’m guessing you don’t have any luck posting through the LFG that you’re looking for an event map?

Actually I rarely group. I am old and retired and have a lot of things that will randomly drag me away from the pc…not fair to other people to have to wait. But I posted this because it is a lot more people than just me that this is causing issues for. An example is the post above saying he doesn’t find the CF maps. Both sides of the coin have challenges…

While I can understand exactly what you’re saying (which is why I don’t typically play “with” people either), I was thinking more along the lines of using the LFG to ferry you into an event map. People do it all the time to help fill maps for breach and vinewrath events.

Suffish, I hope you’ve been reading the thread, but to make it very clear: If you bought from the GW2 site and had a code emailed to you you need to go to the registration page to enter the code. If you bought in game you’re already upgraded.

The fastest way for you to check if you have been swapped to a HoT account is to look at your character selection screen. Scroll the avatars to the end. If you have 4 beta slots, you’re in. Those slots will vanish as of launch (or possibly in an earlier patch) but they should still be there right now.

Or, if he’s on the forums and can’t get on the game at the moment, he can just scroll up and click “My Account” and check his overview page. He should see “Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns” and then “Active” to the right of it. Like the attached.

Ah gotcha. Of course that wouldn’t logically make any sense (your main also being your most difficult class to play), at least to me. See, told ya I needed more coffee. XD

Back on the original topic, am I allowed to say “everything”?

In all seriousness though, I don’t think I have a pvp main as yet. I swap back and forth between ele and ranger pretty consistently; however, if we want to base it solely off of class with most number of games played, then ranger would win the ‘main’ slot.

As for hardest class for me to play, it’s a little bit of a toss up. I struggle with thief due to reaction time (something my ping makes very difficult) and with engi due to “ability overload”. So many kits and associated skills to keep straight, it makes my head hurt at times.

I can believe without the song being thrown in!

I should rephrase this to be more in line with Endless’ joke:

I have “Something To Believe In”….without needing that particular song being thrown in XD

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Ugh… between the stupid TV commercial and now this…. I’m never going to get that song out of my head.

Seriously…I had enough of it in high school. We played it at every rally/game/etc. And I’m pretty sure they still do. Ugh.

Mastery System without HoT?

The line you quoted has not changed. Masteries are locked behind owning HoT. Doesn’t matter whether it’s a core track, or a heart of maguuma track. You don’t get access if you don’t own the expansion.

I really would love to see the hunt for the book return. That back piece was so sexy, and I was devastated when I accidentally deleted the character that had it (meant to move it to the bank for transmute purposes…. -_-)

But missing old skins aside, I really enjoyed that quest and would love to see it again!

Not this year: https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3olm9m/halloween_is_coming/cvyapgc

The backpack from the 2012 event isn’t going to make it back this year. It was on our stretch goal list to build an epic collection journey for this if we could (the original scavenger hunt is broke as heck) but with ship approaching, couldn’t make the cut this time.

This tells us it’s on their mind, and their to do list. That’s at least a positive. So…maybe we’ll get lucky next year.

in all seriousness though, a tiny extra “something” to bring this into line with the other 3 would be nice.

last bwe i was running mm reaper in pvp. greatsword / staff, with ‘Your Soul is Mine’, ‘Rise’ and ‘Chilled to the Bone’ (with bone fiend and bone minions). Worked out pretty well. I dont recall which rune/amulet I was running though. Still, I look forward to tweaking it further after HoT goes live. It may not be any kind of “optimal” but it was fun as hell.

Is anyone else tired of wings? Seriously make a back piece that is actually kind of cool for once? kudos to the mummy back piece I’m glad all 3 of the back pieces aren’t god forsaken wings

well…the incoming scribe back pieces aren’t wings either

I was excited to see the dungeon coming back as well. Looking forward to doing it, and trying to build those new back pieces (love the wings – both bat and butterfly).

And that pumpkin headed mini black moa… must have!

Sorry HoT, you’re on a 2 week delay…

So I wonder if the pvp dungeon rewards tracks are getting removed? Dev’s response would be appreciated

And why would they do that?

I ask given Anet’s history of swinging the nerf bat, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they do.

After all we are talking about the very same people who removed feeding cows hay to having to dance/entertain for the cows instead in Queens Dale (Help Daih tend her farm heart quest). They stated it was too hard for players to figures out to feed cows hay from all their meta data they claim. Despite Heart Quest even telling the players what you need to do to complete said heart quest. Talking about an insult to players base intelligence.

Yeah I shook my head at the bundle fiasco. Like really?

But, I don’t think they would remove the ward tracks unless they were removing the dungeons. Which they aren’t. They are just dialing back (significantly) on the raw gold each path awards as a means of pushing people out of that content. People will still want the tokens for assorted reasons, and the pvp tracks offer that.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Taking Grind to a whole new Level

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I think your confusing grinding with playing the game, grinding would be doing the same thing for hours on end, Legendaries require you to do a variety of things, also known as playing the game,

Legendaries are not some shiny toy that everybody gets as a participation award, Legendaries are a very difficult and hardcore thing to obtain, and a big part of that is dedicating yourself to completing certain content

Assuming the new legendaries are repeatable (crafting it multiple times), wouldn’t you have to repeat the content multiple times (grind), if you wanted more than one? So what difference does it make if we label it a grind vs “playing the game?”

But they are not repeatable you can only craft each of them once. And it’s account bound.

Only the gen 2 are account bound.

The gen 1 pre’s that you make from the collections can be sold on the TP. But, like you said.. you can only get one (of each) through this method. If you ever desire another, you’ll have to play the rng.

So…. basically what this thread is telling me is that if I want to finish my Dungeon Master title, I need to do so over the next few days (on both accounts) because after HoT, dungeons are pretty much going to be dead. Lovely.

I doubt this very very much. Drama does love drama but get serious, people will still be doing dungeons.

Oh I’m sure there will always be people that do them. But it will just be that much harder to get a group. Obviously time itself is it’s own killer of content, but diminished rewards on top of that, with the intent of deincentivizing the content? Not good.

I can understand not wanting dungeons to pump out as much liquid gold per path, but they are intentionally not offsetting that loss. They don’t want people playing this content. They want to funnel them into other content, with the lure of more lucrative rewards. They may as well just delete the kitten things at that rate, which isn’t right.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.
