They get pancakes and waffles pretty much every release day. The dev team gets noms while the deployment team gives us our shinies.
pokes dev on deployment team Are we there yet?
That’s a very good point, I did not even think, or remember, about the npc’s not having restrictions. my bad, I got overly excited over nothing.
Yeah.. there’s a lot of nice npc armor set ups that would be nice. We can dream.
eyes Anise’s clothing jealously
I’m thinking the break now opens the door for their birthday festival, which I expect they’ll do something. It’s right around back to school time, so now would be a good time to see SAB return actually.
I could see LS starting back up mid to late September, early October, prior to the Halloween festivities. My best guess is that they may run Halloween and Wintersday festivals concurrently with LS, if they haven’t actually wrapped it up by the time Wintersday rolls around.
That’s my forecast… we’ll see what happens.
“they could make it happen if they really wanted to”
I just love how people keep throwing things like this out when they have no clue as to how much work such a change might entail, considering they are talking about a primary system in the game.
Yes, NPCs don’t seem to be limited to the same constraints players are.
Due to the under lying wire frames of the different armor tiers, this isn’t presently possible. This was explained when they were introducing the wardrobe. In time this may change (although they haven’t said they want to go that way or that they are even working on such, so don’t hold your breath), but it wouldn’t be any time soon imo.
I would suggest additional bank tabs, and perhaps a couple of collection expanders (if you do a lot of gathering)
I also recommend at least one set of the infinite tools when they come around again, saves on having to lug multiple sets of gathering tools.
If you aren’t an alt fanatic, then extra character slots probably aren’t a big deal. Although, perhaps having at least 1 free / extra slot to use for trans charge farming might be a good idea. As most rpers tend to change their clothes a lot, you’re going to want a semi-quick means of obtaining more trans charges, and mapping cities on a new character is decent for that.
Some of the armor sets for gems are pretty decent, as are some of the outfits. I think they are worth their gem investment.
It sure seems that way. I mean…if 4 episodes constitutes mid-season, that would imply that season 2 is only like 8 episodes long. I could hope that they do at least 12 per season, but it doesn’t seem like it. Perhaps they are still adjusting how long a ‘season’ should be, considering there are festivals and such that are supposed to be annual that need slipping in. Not to mention that they did say they would be doing features separately as their own packs, so they have to fit that in somewhere too.
Of course, I would also hope that they aren’t even remotely considering killing Mordi off in season 2 if its that short… (but maybe that lends credence to an expansion in early 2015?)
From the articles I just read, it looks like we’ll be getting some new pvp rewards as part of the DR2 update today. Of course….that could mean new reward tracks, or just new rewards added to existing tracks. The tease only says we’re getting some today…
I’ve only done each installment once, though not due to lack of desire. I just don’t have enough time!
sigh
I have 6 other lvl 80s which can do them. I’d like to get all of them through eventually, but there just aren’t enough free hours in my day.
1)Tequatl does not need the entire map present in order to succeed. So there isn’t any call for people to be telling non-participants to leave the map.
You are both right (Tequatl doesn’t need the entire map to defeat it) and wrong (there are perfectly legitimate reasons to ask – not tell – non-participants to leave the map). Imagine you are a member of a large guild, possibly a guild that exists primarily to take down world bosses (we have one on Piken so I can’t imagine other servers don’t also have them) and similar level encounters. Imagine that you can’t get all of the members of the guild who want to join you into the map you’re on. You have a couple of options:
- Option 1 – try to taxi your locked out members into the zone until the fight starts, at which point they miss out.
- Option 2 – ask if people not involved in the encounter would mind hopping to another instance of the map so that you can get your missing people in.
It’s not about how many can do it, it’s about how many want to do it but can’t because of the way that mega-servers work.
And I did specify ‘tell’ not ‘ask.’
I understand that people want to taxi their guild members in, but considering the max size of guilds vs the size of the map cap, it is completely unreasonable to believe that you ‘should’ be able to taxi in 1/4 of your guild to do a boss. Guilds were given the ability to spawn these bosses outside their allotted window for a reason (because it’s unrealistic to think that you’re going to get 100+ people from one guild into any particular instance during specific time frames.).
Honestly I think it’s asinine that max guild size is 500 and map cap is like 150, but that’s a different rant.
Now, in the case of guild boss spawns, having the option to do it in either a private instance or open world might help resolve that issue. However, the potential issue that arises from this is the same as throwing the boss into an instanced raid all together. Unless you belong to a specific crowd, you get locked out. Where as in the open world, anyone can jump in and at least attempt it… even if they have never done it before. Its wonderful for newer or shyer players.
Random points I just wanted to toss my 2c out for….
1)Tequatl does not need the entire map present in order to succeed. So there isn’t any call for people to be telling non-participants to leave the map.
2) Open world bosses are not “bad game design.” Considering the same kitten happens in games where this type of content is instanced, this has everything to do with player attitudes, not base game design decisions.
3) I’ll agree that the loot needs some adjustment overall.
Really! Do you have a link showing 70% of players have left the game? I would be really interested in reading about that.
I, too, would like to see those numbers.
Do would I.
Too many doom and gloom threads recently. Don’t these people have something better to do?
For the first one…. then animal planet, and just simply strolling through a freaking park should be 18+
As for the second……roflmao!
Asians will get offended <- Bogus argument. We had an Asian themed festival earlier this year. Stereotypes are fine to be made. Offensive ones, don’t. And really. You have to be realistic on what you’re doing. If you do some guy with a heavy Chinese accent that makes numerous grammatical errors in his speech, that’s kinda rude because you’re picking at a bad trait that people overall have (and a stereotype that’s negative and people often make fun of).
Honestly as long as they do reasonable research into the culture they’re after I don’t think they’ll legitimately offend anyone, save for the people who get offended by the slightest things. And given they just released in China, I’d say theyd be able to amply research the region to get a good and accurate idea.Personally I’d drool allover a set of Chinese Fire Lance styled skins for ballistas and rifles. With modified sound effects too. And Hwacha Arrowcarts.
And Katana sword skins, Japanese Yumi bow skins, and more really.
There’s a lot of ways they can go with this, again, if they do their research. Heck, give us bonsais for our Housing :v
It’s not about offending the Asians, per se. It’s about staying on the good side of the governments that could ban your game from being played in their country. Remember, Factions ran into that issue. It’s why the panda bears were removed from Shing Jea Island (in China it’s illegal to depict harm / killing a panda). If they launch something that those in charge find offensive, they could strip the game from the market, which would be severely detrimental to their budget.

According to ANet, the pet was removed because China did not allow depictions of a dead member of an endangered species
Make them passive green animals (there are plenty of those)
other than that, I thin kthe whole asia might get offended issue a bit out of proportion
There was a bit more too it than that, considering even the passive non-targetable animals could be killed in GW1 (pbaoe and cows anyone?)
Still, it was simply an example to highlight that making games compatible with other countries can sometimes be….tricky. Just look at how much they tweaked, changed, and overhauled GW2 for the China market…

The only issue with your theory is that Colin has already confirmed that Scarlet woke Mordremoth, thus we’re dealing with him next. Beyond that, they’ve discussed that we’re dealing with Mordremoth in the PoI twitch streams, and have already solidified that the tentacles we’re dealing with come from Mordi.
Now, I’m not against having a plot twist somewhere in here, but to have them nix the dragon would have people up in arms. We really don’t need yet another thing for people to kitten about on here.
Hm….seems they are learning new words and getting creative in their gloom and doom posts.
yawn
Let’s see we’ve had…
“Gear grind or people leave”
“LS content is killing the game”
Something along the lines of temporary content not being healthy
Megaservers are killing the game
thinking
Meh, too tired to hunt for others. Although we’ve had previous ‘expansion or game dies’ threads too.
The game isn’t going to die just because wow releases an expansion. Or because Diablo 3 comes out with one. Or because ArchAge goes live. Players come and go, the population fluxes between the various games because we’re fickle and hard to please. There are people on this forum that play a variety of games, and as much as they kitten about GW2, they still come back to fiddle around. That’s just how gamers are. You see it in WoW, you see it in GW1, etc etc. That’s just the nature of the beast.
I’ve seen this said a few times and it simply doesn’t hold up. It isn’t “we players” it’s " a minority of forum users".
There is a long, and ridiculous, leap from “some of our players have conducted themselves poorly” to “let’s treat all of our customers with a lack of respect”.
Except that its the forum minority that’s doing the kittening about them not talking to us. When it’s the forum minority that caused the issue to begin with. That’s the issue here.
The people on the social media feeds, the people in the game that don’t flutter about on here, they don’t care, they aren’t the one’s complaining. The devs are still talking to them. My guildie ran into a dev in DR last week, I saw Kate hanging out in Heart of the Mists not long ago. I see all sorts of facebook posts and tweets. Hell, they roleplay their main characters on twitter (which can be amusing to watch) and respond in character to players’ tweets. They have the twitch streams every friday. The only people unhappy are the forum goers, and we are the cause of the issue here.
lol are you really blaming the players for anet’s miscues?
Its 100% their fault when they mislead players by getting the community hyped about new things they say they are going to to add only to never see it come to bear fruit.
What other reaction could you possibly expect when you mislead a community?
Yes, I very much blame the community and it’s not like this is something new. We did this back in GW1 as well. There is a trend here, and while it may not be completely the players’ fault, a big chunk of that responsibility does fall squarely on our shoulders. If you look back at the beginning, they did talk to us a heck of a lot more. If you follow that trail, you’ll see players becoming more and more acidic in their responses until eventually, Anet just clams up. And can you blame them? Really? Would you want to deal with the bullkitten we spew? I sure as hell wouldn’t
Everytime I hear this I have a small seizure. This must be some kind of inside joke I’m not aware of.
They don’t say anything because of their incompetence / not caring at all.
I have been in a gigantic amount of game-forums and this is the first time I have ever heard such thing. I guess it’s a way for some people to keep their image of Anet as being a perfect company or something like that, I’m not sure.
As someone else has already pointed out, this is a very good example of why Anet does not talk to us. Need more? How about the threads that go on and on about how the manifesto lied. How about the one in the crafting section not even a month back about how they lied to us about the precursor scavenger hunt being a promise. How about the variety that have been right here in general chat – ‘2014 is now half gone’ is probably one of the most recent, but there are many more.
I have never once said Anet was a perfect company, and I have also voiced that I feel that they should talk to us here more. At the very least, they do still interact with us on the various social media. However, I can understand why they don’t here, and can’t blame them either. As I said above, I wouldn’t want to have to deal with a lot of the people on here, because if I were in there shoes, I’d pull the plug on the game and tell everyone to gfy, but that’s how I function. Instead, they plug on. Oh sure, there’s money involved, but people can really only take so much bile before it wears them down and they don’t give a rats kitten anymore.
They aren’t going to tell us about anything they are working on until its basically ready to implemented.
Why?
Go browse some of the old threads screaming about how we’ve been “lied” to, “mislead,” or how anet doesn’t “keep their promises.”
They don’t talk to us, because we players make it not safe to do so.
Endgame, for me, would be things (lots of them) like the Black Moa Chick quest. Or bringing back Nick’s descendant. Lol. But, see? I’m not into the whole ‘raiding’-type of content, so I’m sure I’m in a sad minority.
I’m right there with you.
Me three!
<3 The black moa chick easter egg / scavenger hunt / quest. W/e you wanna call it. I still have volcanic rocks and such in my storage waiting to be turned into a mini. (Admittedly when you try doing it 40+ times, you get a little bored)
You did not need a guild to play GW1 either. That point is moot. Even before heroes, Prophecies, and then Factions, were able to be completed via the use of henchmen. Now, obviously certain things were easier if you had people to help, either pugs or guildies, but it was not required.
the people who help you may also be two contrary your friends, not to force people to the guild.
If there were activities in which only guild you can access it would be better.
Not really. By limiting activities to only certain groups – such as only doable by a guild – all that does is lock people out of content unless they submit to being told ‘you must play this way to access this content.’ This is something we desire to get away from, not include more of. It’s no different than saying you can’t do it because you don’t have ‘x’ gear rating. It’s just another precondition which limits available game play. No thank you.

There are Risen bulls. Why not Risen Bunnies? Bunnies have a right to be undead too.
Very true
Wonder if they’d explode like the chickens?
They could always be like the vicious Monty Python rabbit!
Yeah… but that actually didn’t show anything. We’d need the celestial bunny animations (and then some) to make it worthwhile…
Teleporting bunnies….oh yeah….
What are we getting for the second year birthday? More kittening! Surprise!
Look, it’s already started ^^^^^^^^^^
Seriously though, we’ve had several threads discussing what we’d like to see, what we think we’ll see, etc etc. For the most part, I’m still crossing my fingers on things I’d like to see:
my thoughts on this year’s gifts:
-Create a set of 12 or 15 minis, like was done in GW1. Let us get one of that set randomly from the gift. Do make these tradeable
.
-Include the birthday booster again. Even if people don’t have characters that need the experience anymore, the 100% bonus to karma, magic find, gold, and wvw rank is still very enjoyable. Not to mention, it stacks with other boosters.-Not sure what to ask for as the third component. Lot of things I would like, but probably not advisable. Maybe a scroll that grants 5 levels to any non 80 character? A small bag of dungeon tokens? A random weapon ticket? An ascended weapon box maybe? Not asking for a precursor or anything here, but something useful would be appreciated.
However, I think asking for a whole new dungeon or a precursor is a bit much for a character based birthday gift.

we had those terrible bunies in gw1 remember the ts session when me and my friend came across them the first time. it was like look at the bunny awe there another lets see all the bunnies then at bottom wtf they are killing me. then it was darn bunnies
Follow the white rabbit!
But those weren’t bunnies… they where Vaettirs. They just looked like bunnies…. kitten mesmers…
Oh that mini dungeon. Sorry, name wasn’t wringing a bell for me, until you described.
My husband and I did this…for something…a while back. I don’t even recall what the heck for at this point.
I can understand your gripe with the players, but that’s only loosely tied to the traits. You didn’t have to call out that you were doing this, as it is solo-able. It’s not the traits fault players are a bunch of kitten, but I can understand needing/desiring to do something and then not being able to because people suck.
3. Anet said they can play anyway they want… and they want to play with mounts so if Anet doesn’t give them Mounts… Not sure what happens but it is bad for Anet.
Oh give me a break.
Yes, Anet did say that we could play how we wanted to play; however anyone with any common sense what so ever would realize that there would be limitations to “play as you please.” They should not have to say " you can play as you please so long as it remains within the scope and boundaries of the game as we choose to develop it" in order for people to comprehend.
I think he was being sarcastic Lanfear. His reply to mine made me crack up.
She… I am a she. And yes, it was total, and pure 100 % sarcasm.
Lanfear read the whole post, you skimmed past the part where I said" " With the tools we provide" should go without saying."
See after 1,000,000 iterations of the same non-compelling reasons, i am starting to sway back and forth between two different states.
1. Semi-well reasoned if slightly argumentative but hopefully productive discourse
and
2. Total jocularity and sarcasm.
It is getting hard to take these threads and posts seriously anymore…
round and round she goes when she’ll stop nobody knows.
“Suggestion: Mounts?” presented over and over as if it were a new idea No one has ever considered. And the reasons boil down to " I want to play my charr charging down the street on my chicken mount, with my two hand sword clipping into the poor bird’s ribs because then I feel heroic… and… a lot of other games also have mounts. "
Sorry, I am In My silly phase. Sarcasm, Pure sarcasm.
chuckle
Considering some of your previous posts, I really wasn’t sure.
Still, for those that would throw out the “but they said I could play however I wanted argument” (and there are a few), my general point still stands.
There are Risen bulls. Why not Risen Bunnies? Bunnies have a right to be undead too.
Very true

I forgot about those exploding chickens.
I take it back. They no longer have the right to be undead.
roflmao!
I would think that something like this would tied into the templating system that has been requested several dozen times. The up side here is that a templating system is something they have said is on their radar as something they would like to do, and we would likely see it implemented in pvp first. (This was something mentioned in passing during the twitch stream previewing and discussing the pvp changes that came in the feature pack)

I WANT mount, I don’t care what you want or need. Anet says “play how you want to play” whenever mount come because they will come and they will CREATE revenue guess what I going to get the mount because that is what I WANT, and if YOU don’t want it then DON’T get it. capiche
Wow….thank you for the very well thought out self-centered, immature and demanding verbal tantrum. It completely slipped all our minds that Anet’s every effort should be to provide what YOU WANT. Please forgive us.
hehehehehehehe
Thank you for saying it for me….
… cause had I said it, I’d have gotten infracted.
Exotics: Craft or buy? And why?
If you are leveling crafting, craft em.
If you have all the stuff and the crafting leveled, craft em.
If you have lots of karma, buy the temple gear
If you like dungeons, run like 2 a day for a week and you’ll have enough for your whole set
If you simply have lots of gold, just buy it on the TP.
If you have lots of badges, get the wvw gear.
The reasons for doing something are going to change from person to person, just as Vayne demonstrated. He’d opt to dungeon and get his set that way. I have a guildie that opts to just buy all her exotics off the TP because she can afford it. My husband and I tend to be rich in Karma, so we get Temple Gear (and now that it offers zerker, bonus!). I also have lots of badges from random time in eotm, so I use it to get wvw gear. I made gear (and then sold lots of it cause I didnt need it) via crafting to get professions to 500.
Lot of options, just depends on what suits how you play.

Ahhh, just as I said in this thread
After that it escalates to “we want more functionality” “we want to battle” etc etc.
So I will say it again: If they give an inch, players are going to demand a mile. My point has been made… yet again…
The new kites gave 5% boost. That is somewhere above an inch. Where are the people using the kites?
You are wrong.
I think Lanfear was talking about all the “crazy” (had another word typed, but don’t want the infraction) ideas that start sprouting about how mounts could be used in the game to completely change it into some other game.
Tyrian Aquatic Jousting Simulator World Tour
#idontwantthisgametobelikeyouroldgame
Correct. Anet has given the inch (the kites, to a minor extent) and as we have seen previously in the mount discussions (in both the thread I referenced and just a few posts above mine) people are on to ‘additional functionalities.’ Why they shouldn’t be just cosmetic. Why they shouldn’t just give speed boosts. Players are demanding the mile… Thus the basic premise of my point… “It’s never good enough”
chuckle

The article has a valid point (just read it myself while hunting for fresh gw2 info). Farming for gold or credit carding gold should not be the only reliable means of acquiring what is considered by many to be the main component of the legendary. The mystic forge and/ or straight farming hoping for a miraculous RNG drop are not reliable methods.
Like the gifts themselves, the precursors need a firm, dependable means of acquisition – such as crafting. Some RNG involved is fine (such as with clovers for example), its a necessary evil in all games, but it should not be the main, or even the secondary option for acquisition for this type of item.
I thought something was mentioned somewhere on their relationship… but I’m not finding it at the moment.
I don’t lean towards the father / daughter relationship personally, more bother / sister, but I could be wrong. Still, it’s pretty obvious from the delegation short story and from the interactions of the LS that they do have some type of past history. As charr don’t really recognize familial bonds the same way humans do (the fahrar and then the warband is their ‘family’), it’s hard to tell. They only really seem to acknowledge blood relationships when absolutely necessary.
True and not. While that is indeed the basics of their society, there are several charr NPCs all through (Aside from LA charr, that is.) that have been given the choice to raise their own children. It hints, and I believe the dialogue itself confirms, that should a father/mother wish to raise their own children they are welcome to do so, and while looked down as an oddity, it is becoming more prominent for the “new generation charr” or charr adapting to the more peaceful times.
This of course doesn’t apply to Rytlock, but it shows charr still value the blood binding quite a lot. (Per example; Charr main character storyline is hardcore about the importance of your sire. It is the only storyline aside from one human choice where an ark completely focused on following your father adamantly, and not because you “have to”, but because Rytlock believes you will want to know.)This is also shown through Almorra and Ebonhawke’s siege; She states it breaks her heart to have her child killed, and it will take her time to recover, but she couldn’t ignore the menace that Ajax was as much as she may have wanted to.
I hadn’t seen dialog regarding Charr parents opting to raise their own cubs (not surprising, I haven’t fine tooth combed BC and the Ascalon quite yet), though I’m sure the instinct to do so and thus not meet the cultural status quo exists. Yes, I can see how the more traditional Charr would see that as an oddity, and even potentially look down on that method, considering how important fahrar bonding and warband cohesiveness is in their culture.
I wasn’t implying that they didn’t acknowledge the familial bonds at all, but they don’t do it the same way humans do either. Yes, in the charr personal stories, chapter 2 deals with your sire, but its very loosely because you’re his child in 2 of the 3. In one, it’s because he’s dead and you have an inheritance. In another, it’s because they want to pump you for information regarding him. in the last, its only because he’ll turn himself into you. Yes, these are tired very loosely to the blood relationship, but honestly could have been done for a lot of other reasons as well, with potentially more validity.
Yes, Almorra shows that even though their culture doesn’t revolve around blood based family groups, parents do still care for their children. This only really shows that Charr aren’t emotionless monsters. However, you’ll note that she never once mentions that the person she is sending us after is her son. We have to find that out from one of his lackies… The blood relationship is completely unimportant until that time.

Ah ha, here we go:
Rox and Rytlock being half-siblings is information gleaned from the datamined Season 1 ending, much of which was later changed (including the removal of any mention of that info). It was obviously planned at one stage, then, and all of Rox and Rytlock’s interactions were probably written with it in mind, but since it never appears in-game we should only consider it “semi-canon”, that is, canon until it gets contradicted (which it easily could be, since there’s nothing obligating it to remain part of ANet’s plans). So any mention of it on the wiki should come with a disclaimer, maybe in a footnote or something. –Santax

The gift of exploration may be limited to the weapons Seven Star. We don’t know what the armor and trinkets will require because we don’t know anything about them beyond they were working on it and that we would see a trinket item first.
Absolutely. Not.
This suggestion really isn’t any different than the one in the BLTP forum a couple weeks back now, saying that “paying players should be able to” buy things that gave them an edge (like an extra +15% power sigil).
NO. No pay to win bullkitten. No VIP “non mandatory” crap. You want VIP crap, go play China’s version.
We’re with you OP!
My mesmer (and actually my ele) would love some actual pants! Heck, they’d be happy if they could just take the pants from under the Priory or Conjurer sets. Just strip the skirts off those and add is as a new skin, Anet! It’d be a start!
And some nice heels while we’re at it!
I have to disagree, quite strongly with this “suggestion.” I bought the game. I stayed up all night at head start to grab my names (and still didn’t get them all). I paid real money, not gold, for my additional character slots. My account, and my names are mine, period.
They did not do this in GW1, they sure as hell better not do it here.
While I do agree that we need some more forum interaction… from a PR person, or a CM or something, I honestly don’t think it would change anything in regards to people feeling like they aren’t being heard.
Threads from the forums are referenced constantly via ther interviews and via their twitch steams (which happen every Friday). So it’s obvious they are reading what’s being said, because they address some of it, although perhaps not quite the way people would like. They’ve gone so far as to apologize several times for being busy. Honestly, I prefer having them doing their jobs rather than posting on here.
They don’t have gear grind but still they are doing everything you say they usually do:
Recyle Old Encounters: CHECK;
Recycle Old Mechanics: CHECK;The only thing they are missing right now is slapping new paint scheme, but I honestly think that they shouldn’t be far away from that
Side conversation, not precisely regarding the original topic.
However, yes there are instances where they have recycled / revamped / reused some existing content. All games are guilty of it, although I didn’t think it was so awful in episode 3. A couple of these I’ve never actually done / participated in previously and I’ve been here since beta and I have map completion in those areas. I’m not precisely the only one in this boat. So, in some instances, some recycled content with minor revamps aren’t too awful to have.
Still, if you look through my post history, you’ll see that I have pretty much always been an advocate for new bosses encounters with interesting mechanics. I do like a challenge, now and again, although I’m not one that feels it needs to be locked behind an instanced raid to make it worthwhile.
If they want to add more dungeons, sure, by all means do so, but also give me back my heroes so that I can do them as I please. Heroes never abandoned me because I wasn’t what they “thought” I should be. They never went afk without saying something, or not bothered to say sorry after the fact. They never treated me like garbage because I wasn’t running a cookie cutter build. Instanced content is fine, but it needs to be readily accessible, as it was in GW1. The only exceptions to that where FoW, UW, Urgoz, Deep, and DoA and then only until the 3 hero limit was removed at the tail end.
I’d love to see an area like FoW return as a type of end game play. I’ve tossed suggestions out there for just such a return of that zone; however, I also know that the return of FoW and UW make no logical sense in the lore while the human gods are cut off from Tyria, since they are god realms. Although, they could still come up with something similar as well, and that would be fine with me.
However, all that said, endgame is not limited to the traditional dungeon or raid set up that WoW and other previous games have brainwashed us into believing. Anet said before launch that the entire game was endgame, and for a lot of people that’s a true statement. They enjoy not having to be locked into the mind numbing repetition of dungeoning and raiding for that next better piece of armor. For them, they honestly enjoy that you can do everything at level 80 that you can do at basically every other level in the game. Some people enjoy the new trait system, have rolled new characters, and are doing that as some end game progression. Others play wvw. Some people, like Vayne, like the story progression. During the twitch stream that discussed the new journal, it was stated (don’t remember if it was Mike or Colin) that they were going to treat living world as a type of end game content. A “never ending story,” intended for progression for lvl 80 characters.
So, I guess back in the vein of the original question “Is endgame content being developed or what?” the very simple answer is “yes, every day.” However, it may not match your definition of endgame, and while that probably doesn’t make you happy, it does others.

Gear treadmills are not progression. They create the illusion of progression in order to keep you paying a subscription fee. There is a reason they are called “carrot on a stick” and that reason is not complimentary.
In GW2, progression is what you make of it. You set your own goals and then try to achieve them. If you don’t feel like you are progressing it is because you’ve not set progressive goals for yourself. If you are incapable of setting progressive goals, then by all means, return to a game that tricks you into handing them money for no reason.
how come visiting 100% vistas is a more “progressive” goal than earning a new gloves?
now, don’t get me wrong, i don’t want new item tiers. but the magic about them is that they bring new content along.
but why are you trying to say, how this game should be played to people with diffrent expectations?
Gear grind doesn’t bring “new” content. All it does is give the developers an easy way out. They recycle old encounters, old mechanics, slap on a new paint scheme and up the numbers involved. More hp and more defense does not make for a “new” more interesting encounter.
I’m not against having more skins added to the game, just the addition of more stat tiers. I know some people enjoy the hunt for rare, elusive looks and I’m perfectly ok with that. As long as that rare exclusive look is limited to the cosmetic aspect.
Yes, Cantha would be an excellent expansion. Of course, with the China launch only having been this past May (5-15-2014), I highly doubt we will see an expansion before at least May of 2015.
