What if killing Elder Dragons...

LanfearShadowflame.3189

There are a lot of theories about the dragons. I’m not sure which one I ascribe to at this point. They might be a part of nature, they might not. They do seem to portrayed as a part of the natural order of Tyria. Part of it’s ebb and flow.

I do think it would make sense if the various dragons somehow balanced each other out, by actually killing one, we screwed up the balance that has existed for who knows how many thousands of year.

I don’t think I ascribe to killing a dragon unleashes the magic it’s harvested. They story tellers took the time to point out at dragons (not just glint, it specifically says dragons) consume magic, but don’t destroy it. Their body retains it “like a sponge holds water.” As with sponges, I can see some of the retained magic leaking out / ‘evaporating’ over time back into the world, but not in vast quantities rapidly.

There are too many unknowns, I think, to really formulate good hypothesis here.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Dude, MMO expansions usually give about 20-30 maps, not 3. Where do you live?

What game are you playing?

Lets use WoW as our first example.

BC gave you 11 zones
WotLC gave you 12
Cata – 7
MoP – 8
WoD – 8

That’s an average of 9 per expansion. Not 20 to 30. Not even close.

If you start adding dungeons and such into that count (“map” vs “zone”) then sure you can hit that number, but in the context of the discussion, we’re talking about open world zones.

If we look at GW1 as our example, you get a lot more maps than the ‘go to’ mmo for comparison. However, GW1 maps are much smaller individually. An entire ‘region’ would be more on par (seemingly) with the typical mmo zone. Taking that into consideration, Cantha offered 4 regions. Elona offered 5 regions. EotN was the only “true” GW1 ‘expansion’ and it still only offered 4 new regions.

Granted GW2 isn’t broken into as many tiny maps as GW1. Instead they use much larger zones with lots of named subsections, which we could consider to be the equivalent. As such, if they actually give us 4 decent sized new zones out in Maguuma it would comparable to the standard already in precedent.

As for all the additional things you typically get in ‘expansions’ (ie dungeons), we have no idea what else we’ll see during the season. LS1 gave us dungeons (albeit temporary), LS2 could provide similarly. We may also see more weapon and armor skins in the actual game play. Episode 2 gave us a completely new craftable set, that’s at least a start.

Why do people play anything other than a war?

It may be a troll thread, but it’s not the first one. There have been several “why do you play anything other than [warrior, guardian]”

My answer remains every time….. because I feel like it.

I’d say I main an ele, but I play my mesmer and my necro just as much anymore, so it’s hard to claim that I have a ‘main’ at this point. I do have all 8 classes though, doubles of some. I’m sitting at 12 characters total on my account right now.

Anyway, I don’t play warrior often for 2 reasons – I’m not very good at it and I find it very boring. Maybe it’s boring because I’m not good at it, who knows. I just don’t “get into it” when I play my warrior.

I’ve found dagger / dagger on a necro or ele to be more entertaining (dagger / dagger ele is growing on me now that I don’t die every 10 steps) and sword / focus on mesmer is equally enjoyable. Logically if I enjoy melee on those characters, I should enjoy it on a war as well, but I don’t. It’s just blah for me, and I’ve tried a variety of weapon combos to liven things up. I’m guessing it’s just not my class. It wasn’t in gw1 either.

[Suggestion] Incentives for Gem buying

LanfearShadowflame.3189

Absolutely not!

As a paying player, I am very much against adding ‘pay to win’ type items to the store. This game was advertised to not be another p2w game. That only convenience / cosmetic items would be in the store. I honestly think I would stop playing (and I know my husband would) if they started adding some the OPs suggestions (+20% dmg that can only be purchased). I’m sorry but it completely kittenes me off that people feel that they are entitled to somehow being better than everyone else because they can throw money at it. This ruins games for other people that just don’t have that luxury. So no, I absolutely do not agree that these things should be added.

Now, I am not against the random ‘thank you’ gifts for purchasing gems with cash, as we have gotten before. The free kite, the free mini pack, etc. They are nice little tokens of gratitude that show they appreciate our purchases. Nothing game breaking, just cute and cosmetic. That is appreciated and I think that is quite sufficient on the occasions that they opt to do it. I do not expect it all the time, because to do so would make it meaningless.

*spoilers* Jennah or Trahearne

LanfearShadowflame.3189

See, I have an issue with the whole “it might be Jenna” because of the locket. The story states that the locket is a magical artifact, a strong one at that. That alone might be enough for the dragon to go after it (they do consume magic after all). However, beyond that, the priory person states that the locket always shows the current heir to the throne, which would not be Jenna. Jenna is queen, she has the throne. The heir would be whoever would take it if she were to die – her first born for example, or a relative if the monarch has no children. I think there is more to who the heir might be, and this might be something we dig into as the story progresses.

I get the by-play between Rox and Taimi, actually. Rox was there ‘first’ and I get the distinct impression that she’s just a touch jealous of Taimi bulldozing her way in (and let’s face it, she did). I think she’s a tad insecure and may be worried that Braham may like / prefer / whatever Taimi to her, company / friend wise. In short, she’s not big on sharing her friend’s attention with the kid.

What I want to know is why, as the ‘boss’, I’m reporting to a freaking child. Asura she may be, but child she remains. She should not be calling the shots.

What is Marjory afraid of? [Spoilerish]

in Living World

Posted by: LanfearShadowflame.3189

LanfearShadowflame.3189

I also don’t get the impression that Jory is “afraid” per se. I do get the distinct impression that introducing her female lover to her mother in addition to breaking the news that her sister is dead is not something she wants to do all in one go. More of a ‘lets deal with one issue at a time’ thing.

While it did seem that Belinda knew, and was ok with, Jory being a lesbian, somehow I don’t think ‘Momma’ is in the same boat. That’s just the overall feeling I’ve gotten thus far. Which, if that’s the case, that’s going to be an issue all on its own.

Above and beyond that, Jory (I think) just needs some space to grieve. Not uncommon in the real world. Some people are ‘public’ grievers, they prefer to be in the company of others, while some are not. Jory strikes me as one that simply prefers to grieve on her own, come to terms with it the pain, and then carry on. As a necromancer, she should be well acquainted with the ‘mortal condition,’ doesn’t necessarily make it any easier though.

If I remember correctly there was some dialogue between Jory and the PC in episode 1 about this matter. It seems momma Delaqua has some serious issues with nobility.

I think I missed that. Gonna have to go back and poke around.

Theory: Anet trying to remove WP for Mounts?

LanfearShadowflame.3189

@Lanfear

Seriously? Anyone who truly feels there are too many waypoints in game has the option of not using them?

Truth be told, I often don’t. I’m cheap and using footsies is free.

Anet needs to do less “play our way”, not more.

And I don’t disagree. I am also cheap and tend to just hoof it through maps myself. Which makes my husband roll his eyes at me.

But, yes, seriously people complain that there are too many waypoints and that they break immersion. Yes, several of us have pointed out that they don’t have to use them, but you know how people are. That’s not the answer they want to hear. We’ve had several threads on them in the general section of chat over the past several months.

I don’t mind the waypoint reduction, I guess. Personally I’d like to see ways to rebuild them (maybe some interesting events trying to talk various asura engineers into helping us?) or possibly even the introduction of craftable personal or guild waypoints – though admitted there could be some interesting downsides to those.

How does my character know Mordremoth?

in Living World

LanfearShadowflame.3189

So, having actually played through some of this last night, I think I agree that the name drop was a bit… much. Especially right off the bat.

I can go with the ‘my character is a super sleuth and I’m ‘uber smart’ and all, but I think there should have been some type of lead up to this. Maybe new clues that popped up over time during the previous release. Maybe some sort of lead in at the start here, where we’re doing some research. Hell, maybe even starting it out with we’re researching the vines and such, visiting the Priory. Maybe checking with some super old tribe leader of the Jotun. All of this leading up to ‘hey, this really sounds like it would fit the 6th elder dragon, Mordremoth. the puzzle pieces fit for a ’jungle’ dragon" Which could have been swiftly followed by the attack on the town in Dry Top, where we rush back to check on / save Taimi.

As it currently stands, it really feels like I missed a step somewhere. Like there was something I should have found, or something I should have read, or even something I should have done prior to the beginning of this chapter.

Theory: Anet trying to remove WP for Mounts?

in Living World

LanfearShadowflame.3189

So…does this mean we will finally have mounts?
Yea yea hate all you want, i love mounts.

So, I don’t hate mounts. Don’t have anything against them really, just personally feel they don’t “fit” into GW2. Not without tossing lore right out the window, which I don’t advocate, at all.

That said, I don’t think mounts are the reason for waypoint reduction. There have been a many complaints, in general, that there are ‘too many’ waypoints. For some it makes the game feel less immersive. For some it makes them feel like there isn’t a penalty for dying. Some feel that having so many waypoints is too much of a safety net and as such the game has no sense of ‘danger.’

Reducing the waypoints (through nifty story plot none the less, not just poof we took them out) should help address each one of those. Fewer waypoints means more foot work, so should be more immersive to play. Less waypoints means further to run back potentially when you die – having to fight back to where you were, potentially missing out on the event you were in, etc. This should help make the game feel more dangerous as well, since you don’t have that ‘safety net’ close by anymore.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Yeah, when a screen shot was taken from the trailer it shows Concordia and on closer inspection you can see something glowing with a blue hue in the mid right corner (which is where the Waypoint should be). So as soon as someone posted the What is that Vine doing to that WP. well… we kind of assumed the two were connected too much to be coincidental.

It's not enough

in Living World

Posted by: LanfearShadowflame.3189

LanfearShadowflame.3189

Honestly, what they put out will never be “enough.”

It does not matter if it comes to us in two week chunks, or once a year expansions. The same thing is going to happen every time. Certain people will devour it (“I completed Dry Top in a day”) and then the chant for “more more more, gimme gimme gimme” resumes. Content cannot be made at the same rate at which we the players consume it.

It’s because of that, that designers start putting things in like weekly raid lock outs, time gating on material crafting, daily to do lists. Its busy work to keep people occupied so that they can continue to develop in a relative modicum of peace.

Personally, I would like to see both approaches used in the game. Keep living story, let it set the stage, lead us to each of the dragons. Maybe have it cover some of the recon involved. Then give us an expansion that covers the actual ‘campaign’ of taking out the dragon. The actual missions involved. During the period of time at people are working through the expansion, have the living story portray side things happening in the world. This other dragon is stirring, this other bad guy has come to the fore and also requires dealing with. The Tengu are ready to come out of seclusion and now we’re turning our sights on Cantha. Or something else has happened, now we’re looking at Kralk, but we need to deal with Joko in Elona. Then Elona or Cantha become full expansions. So many possibilities. So many options on where they could go and how they could do things.

I am in the camp with those that hope this does not lead to mounts in the game. There is already too much ‘falling in line’ with other mmos because things are ‘common features and are expected.’ Ugh. If they are going to go that route, they may well just throw in the towel now, and start pumping out a new gear tier and another required 10 levels of “progression” every year, because that’s the road they’re heading for. “Well so-and-so jumped off the bridge, so should we”

I’d prefer, I think, to see like events for rebuilding the broken waypoints. Or the ability to craft personal / guild way points instead. Something a little more outside the box.

I love how people assume it’s women kittening about this. Stereotypical assumptions much people?

FYI, I am 30 year old, married woman. Mother of 1. Full time career in java development, and guess what. I don’t take issue with any of the armor in the game.

Does some of it make the player look like a nun? Hello Devout….
Does some of it make the player look like a call girl from an old western? Hello Masquerade (minus the head gear)…
And we have everything in between. Toss in the ability to mix and match and you can be as skimpy, or not, as you so choose.

In regards to the armor in question, I don’t consider it that skimpy. It has some skimp sure, but there’s worse out there. Personally I love the top, but don’t care for the skirt. I would not be opposed to having an additional set more closely modeled after the male set, but that’s not a reason to remove or redo the one that exists. More options, not less.

Above and beyond all that, ‘sexy’ is not the only reason female sets are less bulky. Sex sells might be high on the list, but take a look at how female warriors dressed over the ages. Typically speaking they don’t wear as bulky gear because we lack the muscle mass (typically) to haul it. While I am not saying women are weak, I am pointing out that we tend to be a bit more lithe and agile than our male counterparts. Our “strength” doesn’t come from brute force. There is some logic in not wrapping yourself in a tin can.

[Suggestion] Buy Order QoL

in Black Lion Trading Co

LanfearShadowflame.3189

So I don’t typically use the TP a heck of a lot, although when I do, it tends to be for large orders of mats (250+). I understand that since the inventory stack size is 250, they limited the maximum buy order amount to 250 (I think it’s stilly but ok we’ll go with it). Still, I’d like to see a little bit of QoL for the buy order functionality:

When I enter in a price and a quantity and hit buy, let it remember what I entered. Stop making me type it in repeatedly, please. This way if I want to buy 1000 of whatever, I just have to hit ‘buy’ four times.

If this forced reset is protect people from themselves, then just give us the ability to purchase larger stacks instead and a confirmation (Are you sure you want to ‘x’ amount).

Additionally, instead of making us type in the amount we’re willing to purchase for, it’d be nice if we could just click on the price we want to match in the right hand column. You have a match lowest seller, why not a ‘match highest buy order’ as well.

These aren’t huge QoL changes, but they would be a nice tweak for system friendliness.

Taimi, Jory and Kas and Offencive

in Living World

Posted by: LanfearShadowflame.3189

LanfearShadowflame.3189

Taimi is a disabled Stereotype

Your going by the idea that Taimi is disabled so we have to pity her, this actually is increasingly offensive to people that “are” disabled who despise being pitied in the first place on account we try very hard to cope with our day to day disabilities and the last thing we want, is to be reminded they exist in a world outside the real one.

I don’t need a character to remind me that I have problems I cant overcome without finding alternatives, and the fact she has a Golem to fix it actually makes it worse because by that definition your giving false hope to the physically impaired by making the character into a paragon.

Its downright inconsiderate.

I have to disagree with you on a lot of points here.

Tiami does not inspire me to pity her. I find that I tend to admire her quite a bit for her personal strength and ingenuity. She does not let the fact that she has this disease hold her down. She charges forward (sometimes recklessly) and lives her life. She doesn’t want our pity, and I’m pretty sure if my character started doing that, she’d conk me on the head with her golem’s fist. When she hits an obstacle, she finds a way to overcome it, the creation of her golem is a perfect example of that. She’s not letting the disease stop her, and that is very worth admiring in a person.

There are too many in real life that do pull the ‘pity me, I’m not right’ card. Too many that think they can’t live thier life or be their own person because they have a disease or a handicap. This fictional character is an inspiration that proves otherwise.

Braham is a feminist view on males

Braham, hurts me, even looking at him I am treated as a man like an idiot being reminded that this guy is incompetent at anything because all he does is think with his muscle.

Have you ever considered some men actually don’t “have” muscle to think with and thus have to depend on other aspects of their abilities, or the fact we have the capacity to “think” with a brain.

This form of writing is forced dialogue to make a character seem like a stereotypical depiction of a gender, its the jar jar binx syndrome that made JJB so hated by the star wars fans.

You don’t get to do that to men and not expect backlash for it.

Braham is a typical Norn. Even females (outside of Eir, who is not quite like other Norn) are portrayed as ‘hit first, ask questions later.’ It’s the type of people his race are. It was more obvious in GW1, but you can still see it in the conversation with the females in this game. They are great hunters, fighters. It has nothing to do with his being ‘male.’ Jora was pretty much the exact same way.

Jory and Kas relationship is enjoyable, but forced

When it built up to the kiss it was something special, now, unfortunately it looses its flare because we no longer have a purpose to serve other than to remind you that “aww we have a lesbian couple in our game”.

Actually, I see them acting a lot like any typical couple in a ‘newly formed’ relationship. The rose colored glasses are on full blast atm. Is it corny? Yes. Is it cheesy? Yes. Is it sometimes uncomfortable for the outside party to watch? Oh yeah. However, this is no different than any other lovey dovey, just starting out couple either. They coo at each other, make the big eyes, try out a variety of pet names to see which ‘feel’ right, etc. It really doesn’t matter (much) that the world could be ending around them because, right now, all that exists (to them) is each other.

Why cant we have a darker Taimi?

So what you want is someone that is bitter because life gave them the short end of the stick? She’s just a little kid for gods sake. Applaud her vitality and vibrancy! I’m sorry, but it sounds like you’re the one that’s bitter because you weren’t born ‘normal.’

Why cant Jory and Kas relationship have problems?

They might yet, give them time. They only just started this relationship. Like I said before, it’s all rose colored glasses right now. Neither has faults they other can see until this start to fade. You want the relationship to grow, let it. Don’t rush it.

Why does Braham have to act like an idiot when he could clearly have some development from some wisdom through Eir.

Wisdom comes with time and age. Braham is young, and very typical Norn in his approach to life. (Not to mention he has issues with Eir) It doesn’t come from having a sit down with your parent. If it did, our own kids would learn from our mistakes, never make their own, and have perfect lives. Personally, I’ve never seen it work that way…. so it not working that way in game in much more realistic.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

Edit: Here’s a random thought. After going through Omadd’s machine and becoming ‘Scarlet’, she also gained the ability to grow/summon vines. Something she wasn’t able to do before. I wonder how similar those were to the vines and thorns we’re encountering presently, which we again assume are related to Mordi. It would seem very odd if none of it ended up related in any way.

https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/short-story-what-scarlet-saw/

The Sylvari as a race has the ability to grow and manipulate plants like that. It’s how they grow their leafy armor/weapons, build their houses/bases, and it’s where the Sylvari racial skills comes from.

Not quite like that. It was mentioned somewhere that this was something new after the experiment. I haven’t had a chance to hunt it down. It would point to corruption. But then did it only happen that way because she is a Sylvai. Would the effects have been different if she had been human? What if a different big bad took hold of her? The story of Guild Wars is a good comparison to show here. For a good chunk of the game we think the Murssat are the big bad, but then at the last moment we find out they are keeping something much more sinister at bay, be it at an price most would not pay. The Titans are the true big bad of the Prophercies story line. If it where not for the Merssat they would have broken through the Door of Kurmaly(or how ever you spell it) and the players where the ones having there strings pulled, just like Scarlet was.

I find it interesting that the only creatures we have seen (thus far) affected by this corruption (dragon or otherwise) are the Sylvari. It’s not like other creatures aren’t available.

Considering we know that the dragons are the “big bads” of the GW2 story, I would be very surprised if Anet twists it into anything even remotely like the Mursaat.

Although, I will argue the whole “we think the mursaat are the big bad” aspect. We don’t even encounter the Mursaat until we get to the Southern Shiverpeaks at basically the end of the game. There really is no “big bad” to defeat until the Lich reveals himself and we feel like chumps. At first its the Charr, then it’s the Shining Blade, then it’s actually the White Mantle. After that it’s all about becoming Ascended to get stronger. Once we get Ascended and continue to the Southern Shiverpeaks, it’s still the White Mantle, and now we meet the Mursaat. After all that, we learn that we’ve been had and the bad guy has been the one making all the suggestions – the Vizier.

While it is true that the Mursaat guard the Door of Komalie, that doesn’t make them “the good guys” either. At that point, they are just in the way to taking out the Lich. The titans aren’t even the “true” big bad. They are just “another” one.

We never fight the shining Blade. We just take it at the White Mantels word that they are the “Bad Guys” we knew something was not right with the Mantel and there Unseen Gods. I think you and I understand the story of Prophercies differently., and that’s fine.

I never specifically said “fight.” I was covering the list of those we viewed as the bad guys, and at the beginning of our trek through Kryta, we do view the Shining Blade as ‘the bad guys.’ Yes, it’s because of the white mantle, but that’s neither here nor there in the context of the discussion.

Wow! That is some interesting news. Just one team now, instead of 4. How does the scheduling work now? Before each team had 4 months to ready their particular release, from start to finish. How does it work with just one team? Are the releases started 4 months in advance, still? Longer? Shorter? Are the team members working on the beginning of a release at the same time as the middle of another release, and the finishing touches of yet another release, all at the same time?

Inquiring minds want to know! Please. =)

At least we know roughly how many people are on the LS team. ~20, give or take a couple at any given time….. out of the 300+ that work at Anet. I guess those that keep crowing that LS takes up the majority of the developers have been proven wrong definitively (finally).

They may still have sub-teams within that larger group, so that each one gets ‘x’ amount of development time. Maybe not though. Would be interesting to hear how they work the schedule. Somehow I don’t think she’ll elaborate on their system though.

Maybe it really does have nothing to do with Mordi. It’s just highly coincidental that she woke him up in her rampage of insanity.

How can you possibly say gems have no monetary value when it’s in writing that they are sold 800 for 10 dollars? After they are purchased by the player they might not retain that original value, but that does not nullify that they had it at one point.

Gems have a monetary value to ArenaNet prior to their sale. Once they are sold, they no longer have a monetary value (just a monetary cost) since they can no longer be used to acquire anything of value.

Except that you can use gems to buy in game gold that has value.

Even the Federal government thought so enough to look into the issue.

http://wow.joystiq.com/2013/06/19/congressional-report-says-you-may-owe-taxes-on-your-wow-income/

Another mistake you’re making is that you assume that our government representatives know what they’re doing in the first place. This idea is silly, and is doomed to fail in any economy. I already pay taxes on my Gems that I buy. I’m not paying taxes on anything else.

My point is, even the government is thinking that there is value In in game holdings if there is a Potential that said Holdings can be turned into actual real world income.

Not the crux of my argument, but simply pointing to it as a " see I’m Not the only one." and you discounting it by saying " Oh well, what do they know?" doesn’t make the fact that even the government is looking into it" a valid supporting argument

yes you can discount it, that doesn’t make it go away. it’s Like the ostrich with it’s head In the sand that thinks the threat is gone because they cannot see it.

GW2 is a “closed-flow system” in that we cannot (legally) generate real world income for our gaming assets, like you can for D3.

In cases like D3, it’s no different than owning your own small business, such as a hobby or a craft business, or winning the lottery or even receiving funds via a will. Income over a certain amount is taxable, no matter it’s source. .

I understand the attack on Concordia from a story telling point as it was the birthplace of the Pact. But it’s a base nowhere near a frontline. So it’s probably just got a token troop compliment. With the gates at fort trinity to the HQ’s there is little need for the forts in uncontested areas. If Mordi wanted to do damage he’d be better off attacking Trinity. That it the pact HQ after all.

Don’t know. Until they give us some story behind it, can only speculate. Maybe he can’t reach all the way into Straights for some reason.

The three Ordes have not stopped being what they where. There HQ’s are still very important as places of knowledge, to train new members. Some where to plan battles. The pact formed to take down Zhitan. Out side of Orr, it’s safe to say they still so there own thing as shown with the fall of LA.

The HQs are places of knowledge, and a place to train recruits, true. Where do those recruits go when they are done? The Pact has not dissolved just because it slew Zhaitan. It’s bases are places where those combined forces can gather, and likely do.

I’m not arguing that striking at the HQs would not be a sound decision; however, it is equally sound to strike at the body rather than at the multiple heads if one can only afford a single strike. Different generals have different tactics. Obviously this one seems to think the Pact as a whole is more dangerous than the individual leaders of the orders (considering the “whole” took out his kin, not any one individually). We can only speculate.

Besides, it gives them a means of bringing the pact, and as such your order, back into the story.

I agree, that seems an obscene amount for for the gold you get.

I guess I’m just a penny pincher. I do actually budget funds each month for games (like $25 each for my husband and myself, though we don’t always use it), but it really doesn’t seem efficient to convert that to gold with the current rates. Not when that gold will be gone relatively quickly and I end up right back where I started (goldless).

And for the person that commented that “its not that much for anyone that has a job,” you’ve obviously never lived paycheck to paycheck while working an hourly, low paying job (or even 2). My husband and I were just discussing this last night. Yes, he’s been asleep, but he seems to have been at least semi-coherent recently. It is plausible that he could have gained this information from Scarlet’s mind. What she knows, he now knows sort of thing. That left me wondering why you were discussing something with your husband when he’s been asleep and semi-coherent, and how he could’ve gained that information from Scarlet’s mind in the first place…

“he’s been asleep”, referring to Mordremoth, not her husband.

But glint had been around the young races for a long time. And we don’t know how if glint learned how to communicate with us or if she just could. Also I said it would make sence for a thrall or minion of the dragon to have a link as they are no longer who they where. It is also said ingame that the risen retain no knowledge of who they where.

Admittedly there is a lot we don’t know, but obviously he can communicate enough to make these characters do what he desires them to do. That implies a relative level of understanding on his part.

As for who scarlet was talking to we do not know. She may have just been mad as a bag of spiders, or it could have been The Nightmare, another Tree, the Muerrsat or indeed Modri. There is no proof that it is Modri 100%. People are just claiming it is to fit there theories. Until it is stated in game that it is Mordi, I’m not going to assume anything.

You’re right we don’t know. As someone threw out in another thread it could Menzies or even Kanaxai. However, then you wonder, what entity, and for what reason, would desire the awakening of an Elder Dragon?

Considering the human gods can’t touch the world, I think we can rule them out. I can’t come up with any logical reason any of the other options would desire the outcome Scarlet gave us.

If it’s another tree talking to her, or even Nightmare, and it shoved her into taking the steps to awake Mordi, wouldn’t that imply that they are in fact wayward minions?

Mordi being the one in their heads makes sense logically, but I guess we wait and see on that front.

It could be she was simply as mad as a bag of spiders as you put it. And apparently it was contagious, because Aerin seems to have caught it too.

My problem with Concordia is where it is. There are a load of Zones on the way that are not under attack from dragon forces. The only forces now that are active for a story point of view are Jormags in the Northern Shiver Peaks and The Crytal Dragon in Ascalon(I forget how to spell his name). The nearest front is far away and with the pact forces there Mordi could have just rolled everything from Drytop to LA. It just don’t make any sence unless he wats to outflank the pact, but then it makes no sence dew to the HQ’s remaining intact.

Yes the HQs are still there (although they took a beating in the personal story), but how much of their force remains there? With the creation of the pact, how relevant are the HQs at the present time? The general consensus is under the impression that he’s lashing out at the pact as a preemptive measure. He perceives it as a threat and he’s neutralizing it (or attempting to). That implies a level of intelligence on his part. The thorns have been seemingly crawling their way across the map for days now (currently eastern side of Kessex), so it seems like they are headed that way.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

So attack the one as far away from him as possible? When all the homes for the Ordes are on the way? Sorry that makes even less sence. Also you did not address my point of HOW HE KNOWS ZHITAN IS DEAD. When he’s been asleep the whole time.

My husband and I were just discussing this last night. Yes, he’s been asleep, but he seems to have been at least semi-coherent recently. It is plausible that he could have gained this information from Scarlet’s mind. What she knows, he now knows sort of thing. We don’t know if the communication went both ways, or if she could only hear him. The same could then be taken into consideration of Aerin. If Mordy knew what Scarlet knew, could he also know what Aerin knew? Of course this is dependent on it actually being Mordy in their heads (I know someone’s going to tell me it’s not, but we don’t know either way) and if the communication was not simply one sided.

My only problem with the mind reading thing is that Modri is a Dragon and Scarlet was. Silyvai. They are two different kinds of animal. As far as we know our thought patterns are completely different to that of a dog. And if I could read a dogs mind, that would not mean I could understand his thoughts or that he could understand mine. Now if there race turn out to be minions of Mordi then fair play it would make sence for him to be able to read there thoughts.

But again the attack on Concordia makes no sence since they go past every Order HQ on the way.

We already have precedent for dragons communicating telepathically. Glint was a dragon, perhaps not exactly like the Elder Dragons, but a dragon none the less. She communicated mind to mind with the dwarves…. which were not dragons. It’s likely she communicated that way with the first Zephyrites, which again, were not dragons. The game references that Zaihtan knew everything his minions knew once he seized them at death, and the majority of those aren’t dragons. Based upon that, the fact that he’s in their heads tends to lend to the belief that it wasn’t completely one sided. In some of the scenes with Scarlet talking to herself, it did sound like she was having an an actual conversation with someone we could not see.

Scarlet Briar: Ever since I came out of Omadd’s machine, you’ve been taking credit for my ideas. They are mine! Not yours.
Scarlet Briar: Let me be clear. I’m not doing this for you; I’m doing it for me. Nobody tells me what to do. Not ever.
Scarlet Briar: It’s not true. None of it. I don’t have to listen to you. Get out of my head!

I’m on the fence about the attack on Concordia. Timberline Falls seems a ways out there. However, those vines are going somewhere. We’ll just have to keep following their path of waypoints.

Edit: Dogs don’t speak the same language we do either. In the game, we all speak the same tongue, the language barrier doesn’t necessarily exist.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

One of the reasons they cited prior to launch for intentionally not having direct trading was to cut down on scamming. Something that was pretty rampant (at times) in GW1. Considering the number of things that share the same icon image in this game, it would be an even bigger nightmare here.

Yes, some people are going to jump on this as point out that you should pay attention to what’s being traded, and I don’t disagree. However, that’s not going to stop the support tickets about being scammed from rolling in adding more to their workload.

Only idiots got scammed. Just sayin.

And I don’t necessarily disagree, as I stated before.

That doesn’t stop it from happening. It only takes a moment of inattention to detail (doesn’t necessarily make the person an idiot, but I’m sure it’d make them feel stupid at least temporarily). And then it’s just ‘one more thing’ they have to deal with.

Gee that’s not derogatory at all.. /end sarcasm

Fell free to up vote or down vote their definitions as you see fit. The more people who vote, the closer we come to a universally accepted definition of a casual gamer.

The fact that I can only down vote some of those once is appalling. The tone of many of those posts should drive home how seriously sad our society has become. And yet we still continue to wonder why people prefer to play with AI rather than actual people…

Im sorry if the popular definition dose not suit your world view. (Something you will find happens a lot so get used to it).

lol yes because the “world” relies on urban dictionary for it’s definitions.

Ridicule the source all you like.

Citing urban dictionary is like citing wikipedia. It’s kind of frowned upon in serious academic circles.

Gw2 forums: the home of academic discussion!

See, you laugh at it when it’s the GW2 forums. What makes urban dictionary so different? What makes that website any more the authority than this one?

Please link where is said urban dictionary was a more valid source than another one.

The thread was another one of those where people argue the true meaning of casual gamer

Im sure if the Bible mentioned casual gamers there would be million of people dismissing it as the true meaning xD

Considering the bible was written by man who is fallable? Yup

Seriously, though, even the various ‘sources’ for the definitions don’t agree amongst themselves. There is no valid source for this slang term at this point, and I highly doubt there will ever be an agreed upon, acceptable definition. There’s too many variations of what ‘casual’ could be.
