You’re on a map. You have a Rich Plat Ore source. You mine it. Surely you shouldn’t be able to mine it again for a couple of hours.
Oh, but I can change servers and get it in exactly the same spot -> Exploit.
All IMHO, of course.
People have been doing this since day one, over a year and a half now. If ANet thought this was an exploit they would have punished people for it and changed the rules. They have been fast in the past to do so. Since they haven’t, then the people who made the game and set the rules don’t agree with you.
The definition of exploit is: “make full use of and derive benefit from (a resource).”
I truly believe people have been making full use and deriving benefits from this resource.
That is all.

Lvling without traits isn’t fun.
In your opinion.
Leveling 1-11 is fine without, but 11-30 isn’t? Even though the health of mobs has been adjusted accordingly?
I don’t even notice I’m not getting traits 11-30 now.
It’s not about needing traits cuz the content is hard. It’s about having access to traits to further enrich the gameplay. Traits are the defining factor to how your build plays. If you’re not noticing not getting traits, then your playstyle must be pretty dull. That’s not meant to be offensive. But you’re clearly not utilizing your toon to its fullest potential if you don’t miss your traits.
I don’t look at it as what they took away or that I’m missing. Instead I look at it as – what is the design of the game currently. Oh – no traits until 30. OK, I won’t bother about them until I get to 30 then. My gameplay is quite rich enough, thanks.

why the heck are most of the WPs on maps contested now? If I want to open AC for instance I have to take the WP on the far west, then WP again to the dungeon entrance. this seems pointless.
Because of Megaservers. It’s an unfortunate side-effect.

You take the WP to Orr and have a look now.

I agree OP. Lots of people in Met Province for my new Asura Necro and I manged to get some hard skill challenges done with help. I’m not into the Wardrobe at all, but the megaservers are already a hit for me.

Hi,
Is the best way to convert Laurels to gold to buy the Heavy Crafting Bag (3 T6 Mats) that will net me about 1g per Laurel?
Or am I missing something better?
Thanks.

Just one point. If you find yourself fighting 5 or 6 mobs and don’t want to die, you can run away. They have limited follow range and will break off from chasing you after a few seconds. Glad you’re having fun now.

Working for me last night. All night, on different characters. I can’t tell you Anet what a different play experience is when you have a working TP and can click ‘O’ from anywhere to sell stuff in your bags.

GW2 could implement start at level 80 and here’s how.
Lock traits behind advancing the personal story, or map completion. Leave skills as is, because you still need to go out and earn skills.
Easy.
Updated every Monday
What I did was just not bother with dungeons. I farmed Karma and got some Exotic pieces that way. I could probably do dungeons now, but just can’t be bothered. There are lots of other things to do at 80, you don’t have to do dungeons if you don’t want to, or are finding them too difficult.

When the latest fixes were being developed for the game, wasn’t the Mac a test platform? You can imagine it now. Big meeting about readiness to push the latest fixes:
Hey, did anyone test this on a Mac?
Nah, it’s only Beta, remember.
Well, I wish you had, but we need to get these fixes out. So, Go Go Go

They got rid of Trait change and Repair costs. They took money out of circulation to compensate. It seems like we don’t get anything for nothing.

Thanks I’ll use that.
BTW Mystic, I think you mis-understood the question. Artificers can use cooking mats to make potions. I wasn’t asking about Chef vs Artificer, I was talking about ways to level up Artificing.

I agree with the poster who said to buy the T6 mats with laurels (if you can). 3 per laurel.
Updated every Monday
Well, I’m just trying to level it. I’m trying to get to max level, and I guess I could just see what mats I have on hand, and if I can make potions, then fine, otherwise make staves etc.
Just wondered if people had used either method and found one to be much easier or more efficient than the other.

Really love the new daily. I can finish it during playing only SPvP, PvE or WvW – or if I want, I can really mix it up!
This is the point. You can’t finish Daily by playing only one mode anymore. You are forced to mix it up.
IMO this is a result of Anet being unable to make sPvP interesting enough to make more people want to go there. Easy solution: Force them to go there.
You’re not forced to mix it up. You can still do 5 PVE ones if you want, but you’re limited to the only 5 PVE ones + Dungeon one.

PVE Experience cannot be summed up as simply ‘Ways of making money’.
So, the PVE Experience wasn’t completely ruined. It was just dented somewhat.

The Trading Post takes money out of the game with trading fees.
Farming adds money to the game. They want less money in the game so they nerfed farming.
There. Basic economics.

I guess I have a different view, because when I left the game, they were just implementing the ‘get 5 of 12’ from the static 5 we used to have every day.
With the latest change, it’s almost that we’re back at ‘get 5 out of 5’, so it’s not such a big deal to me.

I agree. This would be a great improvement.

The Hearts are the equivalent of quests in GW2. They give the most experience. They’re very flexible too. You usually have 2 or 3 things that you can do to complete them. Any of those things will work towards completing it.

Hi,
Some guides tell you to craft with Wood and Metal and craft foci and staves etc. Others tell you to craft with cooking ingredients and craft potions etc.
What would you recommend?
Updated every Monday
Overall I think the update was fantastic. The ability to add and remove trait points on the fly will help tremendously.
That said, I don’t care for the changes to the trait UI. I liked the little drop-down arrow on each of the traits. It made it much quicker and easier to find what I wanted. I think having the locked skills appear in the list to the left and the unlocked appearing in the drop-down would work much better.
Totally agree. The old UI was much better and more intuitive.

You should only really die while taking on Veterans or doing hard skill challenges or something. But now there is no downside (other than a few copper to get to a low level WP), it doesn’t really matter if you do die.
Just do things appropriate for your level. On my new Necro, I died 3 times on Tuesday trying to get a skill point. But I came back yesterday and there were others doing it, and I got it no problem.

Pretty much to level you should explore – do events that pop up- explore – do hearts
Fastest way to get higher level gear is the Trading Post. Maybe not most cost efficient but still.
Ill hit you up ingame
Yes, I’ve tried doing that but I keep dying so much times unless someone is there helping me and that alone is really tedious :/
Oh, don’t worry! Someone was kind enough to show me that and gave me level 10 gear (which tbh had worse stats than my newbie gear) so I think I ran out of choices there :/
1. New Player Leveling
-Complete 2 1-15 maps
-Complete Personal story up to your level
-Complete 2 15-30 maps
-Complete Personal story up to your level
-RepeatAlternate ways of “power leveling”
-Remember to craft (7 levels for getting to 400)
-When you get to level 30, try starting some dungeonsLevel scaling
-It’s part of the game. You DO get stronger and the enemies will be easier to kill, but this is not a game where you will be able to steam roll any enemy because of your level.Ah… is that honestly all there is to leveling?
I dunno, I had hoped for more. I hate grinding so I am not feeling too good about this…That’s all I needed to hear, at least they will be easier to kill, the way it is now, it’s no longer fun but frustrating.
You get experience for nearly anything you do in the game. Just have fun exploring, and do vistas, get to waypoints, gather from nodes, do hearts, do skill points, and do any dynamic events you come across.
You’ll have fun and level before you even realize it. Just free yourself from worrying about leveling, and go explore the world.

I’m pretty happy with it.
Love the renown hearts splash. Love no cost repair and free trait changes.
Don’t mind the wardrobe, UI, World boss timer, trait changes at all.
Don’t mind the Champion train or Dungeon nerfing at all.
So, overall, it was worth the wait.

I didn’t notice any such scaling issues on my 80 Rifle Warrior yesterday. Maybe that’s because I don’t let anything hit me though

LOL. 4 Traits is equal to an old 20 traits. Each new trait is basically 5 trait points and unlocks one trait slot.
actually no, the person you quoted is talking about traits, not trait points.
at level 50 before, you had 8 traits at 50 now you have access to 4.Because now you dont start earning trait points until 30. So yes you actually have less traits, at 60 or so they start giving two traits to even it out.
Well, why did he say ‘over 15…’ then?

Updated every Monday
Okay so you weren’t joking…
I’ll compare MMOs to MMOs and not to RPGs because that’s what they are. MMOs are generally made to be played for a lot more than any other genre, so naturally they require more updates.
Now in terms of “money’s worth” I’m sure you got a point, but I don’t think there’s any reason to consider ourselves “lucky” when any MMO (P2P, B2P, F2P)gets new content.
@Lordkrall: fair enough
I guess I think of WoW, and SWOTOR. WoW is subscription, vertical progression MMO that get expansions and tons of new content. SWOTOR does do content updates, but more along the lines of GW2, and really gimps you if you don’t subscribe.
That’s what I like about GW2. Tons of stuff to get through on multiple characters, and I don’t have to spend a dime beyond the box purchase and I’m not gimping myself. AND we get new content (even though I really haven’t participated in any of it).
Anyway. IMHO there’s plenty of content in GW2 for the amount I’ve spent on it.

Update: Oh, I have no traits at all now, not even on my 80. I’m thinking people are outraged about this one.
Go to your trait panel and start filling them in. You do have traits.
Updated every Monday
Yes, you only get Traits starting at level 30 now. You get 1 point at 30 and then more after that (1 every 6 levels until 66, when you’ll start getting 2 every 6 levels). 1 point is equal to an old 5 points and will unlock a trait skill. They have adjusted the health on mobs level 1-30 to compensate for no traits until 30.
Updated every Monday
@Lankybrit: Are you suggesting that non-subscription MMOs shouldn’t get any update? Because that is gross. Even F2P ones get new content.
Not saying it shouldn’t, just that we’re lucky it does. Compare to an RPG. Buy for $60 and play until the end, maybe on a couple of different difficulty levels, and then wait for the sequel.

I know a lot of people are upset with some of the changes, but try and understand the reasons from the developer point of view and allow for some things to be readjusted as necessary.
some of the changes that people aren’t liking will possibly be further tweaked with hotfixes, just give it time.
The best you all can do is provide calm and detailed feedback like some have already been doing. It is possible that they had overlooked some things and all of you will do a better job at finding the issues than a small team would be able to.
Feedback:
Anet nerfed my characters into the dirt today by taking away almost all Traits my characters had earned. I am not a good enough Player to reach level 80. That’s right, I am not good enough at this game… but I love parts of GW2 enough that I had kept the game installed so I could return one day.
Well today I log in and my highest character, lvl 51 ELE has four traits out of the over 15 he used to have. FOUR. I was having a hard enough time as it is.Anet doesn’t want People like me playing their MMO. Without those traits, and the benefits I each of my characters got from them, the game is now beyond my abilities.
These changes were great for the gazillion lvl 80s, but not good for Players that have a hard time with this game. Anet decided whom their preferred customers are and I am not on the list.
Feedback Given. Resigned from Guild. All Characters deleted. Game Uninstalled.
LOL. 4 Traits is equal to an old 20 traits. Each new trait is basically 5 trait points and unlocks one trait slot.

GW2 isn’t a vertical MMO. It’s Horizontal. With no subscription, we’re lucky to get any new content at all.

They adjusted the health of mobs 1-30 to account for no traits. So, it shouldn’t be any more difficult than before.

The first half of the month was:
Get 2. I did and got 2/2 and the monthly achievement with laurels and everything.
During the first half, I also completed one of the other monthly achievements, and it gave me notification about that.
So, yesterday, I saw I was 3/4 for the monthly. Only one more to go, with nothing having been reset.
BTW: Here’s what they said they were doing:
Because the feature pack comes halfway through the month, April’s monthly achievements will be a special case. Until April 15, the PvE and PvP monthly categories will be separate and require only two achievements for completion. After April 15, there will be a single unified set of monthlies and dailies, and monthly completion will again require four total achievements.

Here’s a great example: I play this game with my GF. Typically we do the daily, she logs off, I PvP or WvW or dungeon or something. Anyway— with this new patch, the dailies changed. Daily Gatherer and Activity Participation are no longer static. She literally quit mid-daily yesterday because it was different and she said she didn’t like how they changed her routine. In the end, instead of Gatherer and Participation, she would have had to do Daily Skill Points and Daily Events. I played the world’s smallest violin for her last night, and I’ll play it for you guys today.
You guys just need to get into a new routine. This game has so many things you can do. Get out of your comfort zones.
It’s awesome that your GF threw a fit at not having the Daily Gatherer any more. Priceless.
You’re right, we need to adapt.
