Megaservers has mostly been a big positive for me.

It’s because of my play style though. Leveling up my alts, there are always people around now, to make some of the tougher content easier. Running into Centaur camps and killing elites and getting skill points is now all possible because there are more people around.

Also, in Orr, the temples are usually open, or there are events in progress, so I can actually buy stuff with Karma any time now.

In addition, I’ve got to do the Shadow Behemoth event a few times, because I know when it’s scheduled, having never done it before.

The only slight annoyance is that the Queensdale Champion Train is all messed up with people arguing about the order we should do.

I’m not in a guild, so that part is not an issue for me. I don’t bother with the harder world bosses, so their schedule doesn’t bother me.

So, all in all, a big thumbs up from me for Megaservers.

I’ve tried googling strategies and have looked at the wiki, but I still have a question.

Do you guys have to deal with lots of Champion Fleshreavers when you fight SB? It seems that tons of these spawn. Is it that we’re not downing the portals fast enough or something, or is this normal?

That would be really bad. That way you could buy a legendary (or any other item from TP) and sell it right away to unlock the skin.

Ahh right. Didn’t think of that.

But they could put logic in that you could unlock the skin if it had never been on the TP, couldn’t they?

If you’re just going to vendor an item instead of salvaging it right click on the item and “Unlock Skin” before you vendor.

About vendor/mystic forge you can right click the item, select “Unlock Skin” then sell to NPC or use on MF, that way you’ll have the skin and still get the item/gold from it.

Hey JT, I recently came back to the game after over a year away. I have immersed myself in the game using the wiki and these forums since I got back, and have learned many things and pass them on to others who ask questions. I honestly didn’t know you gained skill points when you level. Just something I hadn’t looked into.

I do get that this system now is worse than the old one. I really do. It’s just that I’m not finding it ‘that’ much more difficult to accomplish. Maybe it’s my play style, where I have tons of alts to fool around with, and I’m happy doing Champion trains on my main.

Anyway, my only point is that people are making it out to be harder than it actually is. Let’s say the old way was rated 100. The new way may be rated 150, but you get other benefits in that extra time you spend on it.

I see that I get the message ‘unlocked skin….’ when I deleted an item. However, do I also unlock the skin if I vendor, sell on tp, salvage, or mystic forge, and item?

It is rather bad to be seeing them pushing the Gem Store now, especially when they haven’t responded to anything since the release of this feature patch. It’s been a week and we haven’t received a peep from Anet about this. They just keep deleting threads and merging posts and then ignoring everyone.

And especially with all the people still waiting after a week for refunds on Gem Store items? They really think we want to buy more stuff from the Gem Store after what they just did with this feature patch? It’s good to see that our money is funding the Gem Store, and not actual in game content….

I know this is going to make me seem like a real fanboi, but oh well:

Then you probably wouldn’t have just 80s who have done every single Skill Point.

Maybe, maybe not. I know several players with all 80s in their character slots. Not to mention the fact that creating a new character just to complete a daily deviates a large amount from flexible game play. Should people really have to create new characters to finish a daily?

You want to do the dailes, you do whatever it takes. If you create a new character for skill points now, just leave it hanging around for the next time you need them, or for leveler.

People are finding ways to make out the dailies to be extremely challenging, when they are in fact, not. With a little foresight, anyway.

Heck, I’ve only been back for a few weeks, but I’ve been doing Champion Trains and have about 7 or 8 skill scrolls saved in the bank for when I need them.

You only need to gain one Level for Leveler. You may be thinking of Skill Points, where you need to gain 3.

There are a limited number of skill points in the open world….if they are all completed, then a skill scroll and a level are the only ways to gain skill points (thus without the scrolls, you would need to level up 3 times).

You get skill points when you level? OK sorry, still got things to figure out.

You may be right. I guess I was looking at sell price when comparing, but buy price is more likely what you could sell the mats for. So, you do come out ahead by crafting those. Thanks for the tip.

Yeah OP, I hear you. I’m also collecting a lot of this stuff without ever having an intention to use it. The account boundness of it is horrible.

Another thing you could do is to farm gold anywhere (your favorite place) and buy them off the TP. That is, unless you’re looking to farm Linen just to sell on the TP.

Well VD, my point is that you could probably have made as much, if not more, from simply selling the mats instead. I actually think, because there’s so much supply and demand, that prices all even out so there’s no profit from crafting vs selling the mats.

I go to Kennelmaster Warsnout in the Iron Marches, buy light armor shoes for 315 karma and forge them. Then I salvage the result (you should use crude kits for this, but I don’t bother) and get linen.

Is there a cheaper vendor?

I don’t know the criteria for something that can be combined to get linen, so I can’t tell if there’s anything cheaper.

There are always 5 you can’t do without PvP or a dungeon. You’re missing one somehow.

I’ve been looking at prices for stuff you can craft at the higher levels. It always seems that the mats could sell for more than what you could get by crafting something. Is there any point in crafting anything if you’re trying to make gold?

If you haven’t increased your damage, the tougher armor of your foes at higher levels mean that the numbers you see will be less. You’ll be emitting the same damage, but not as much will get through their armor.

This was really confusing last night. On our server, we’ve always done Boar -> Troll -> Oak -> then Bandit (after the patch).

Yesterday, people were doing Boar -> Oak -. Bandit -> Troll.

You have to try really hard to avoid doing leveler, recycler, killer and daily events just by playing however you want (except RP, I guess ;P) and it seems we’re getting them almost every day now. That’s what I’m calling ‘dumbing down’.

daily events can be a major pain. Not all areas have plenty of events so you’ll finish one with every step. With the mega servers, often events are done before you get one shot in.

My question would really be: why would they undo the February 26th 2103 update?

What profession are you?

Learning to use your skills to the best advantage does take some time. Have you unlocked buttons 7 and 8 from spending skills yet? Have you been doing skill points?

Another thing. If you do feel overwhelmed by Mobs, feel free to run away. The have a limited follow range, and you can usually escape with ease.

The other thing is, if you have already fully explored the starting area of your level, you can always go to another starter area and explore that too. That way, you won’t have to take things on higher than your level.

To get to another starter area, click on WvW, choose any map, take the Lion’s Arch portal there, and it will take you to Vigil’s Keep. From there you have portals to all home cities.

Here’s my story. The TP worked fine on Firday, and also on Saturday morning. However, on Saturday afternoon, it stopped coming up. I bootcamped to Windows and have been playing in Windows ever since. I gave a quick check last night on the Mac side, and it still wasn’t coming up.

The megaserver changes are being rolled out from the lowest level zones to the highest, so it is quite possible you are just above the level where the roll out is at this point.

Its low population zones to high. Nothing to do with level.

Right, the point’s still valid though that the person who wasn’t seeing many people might well be in a Zone that isn’t Megaservered yet.

Click on WvW, pick any map, and take the Lion’s Arch portal. This will now take you to Vigil’s Keep in Gendarren Fields, which is the new home base, as a replacement for Lion’s Arch. All the services are there, except for Crafting, which is in your home city.

What to do now? Dungeons, Champion Trains? What are your goals in the game? Are you still looking to craft a Legendary? Lots of people will probably tell you to run Dungeons, but I can’t give you any guidance on those, as I don’t run them.
