Personally I am enjoying the break from new content, it does get quite tedious every 2 weeks more grindage to endure.

Agree. Waiting for a good expansion, not waiting for LS S2.

Me too. I like at least a few months break between content.

Especially as I don’t really run Dungeons. My endgame consists mostly of World Bosses and stuff.

Oh, and how do I make those Superior Runes at the Mystic Forge? I looked at the wiki and couldn’t figure it out.

Thanks. I do want to buy Karma gear because I can’t be bothered with Ascended, and Karma comes easily and seems like the best way to acquire exotics. I don’t mind not recovering runes. I realize I’ll destroy what’s there if I put a new one in. Thanks mtpelion for the tip about getting the runes on the TP or Mystic Forge. I’ll look into that.

For my Ranger, I was thinking of maybe mixing Power/Toughness/Vitality and Condition Damage/Precision/Vitality gear.

Orr Temple Vendors

Posted by: Lankybrit.4598

Lankybrit.4598

Hi,

OK, just got my 2nd 80 and looking to gear up using Karma with these vendors.

There’s one at each temple, and they offer gear that has mix and match stats, but with Runes that give advantages the more you have of them.

So, here’s my question. Is it better to buy all off one vendor, and get less than optimal stats, but great rune bonuses. Or is it better to buy different pieces off different vendors to get the stats you want, and then replace the runes?

Thanks.

80 Gear for my Ranger?

Posted by: Lankybrit.4598

Lankybrit.4598

Can Soldier’s be purchased with Karma? I thought it was crafted.

Also, I’m not too up on the Temple Karma vendors, but it seems that all the stats on different pieces from the same vendor are all mixed around. Is the best idea to buy different pieces from different vendors with the stats you want, and ignore the Rune, and replace it with one you want?

I was thinking I should buy all from one vendor because of the rune benefits, but that will give me less than optimal stats on the pieces.

Sorry to be asking a more generic question here.

if it takes subscription

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lankybrit.4598

Lankybrit.4598

No, no and no. There is no correlation between subscription fee and better quality content. Just look at World of Warcraft. It is a piece of crap (examples: level grind, several tier gear grind (not only 2 tiers like in this game), horrible story line e.g., no story at all, copy of kungfu panda, horrendous graphic – really? it’s been over 7 years and they still haven’t updated the graphic and dozens of other problem and bugs that this margin is too narrow to contain) yet it has subscription fee. On the contrary, look at this game, it has no subscription fee and it’s a beautiful work of art and actually enjoyable and feel rewarding to play.

Well, WoW still has 7.6 Million subscriptions, so they must be doing something right

I was doing the train a lot until recently. Now, I do world bosses instead:

5:15 – Maw, 5:30 – Ugloth, 5:45 – Fire Ele, Dinner, 6:45 – Shadow B

Then I level other characters. I agree that the arguing about the rotation for QD Train is getting a bit old.

What does Dinner drop???

Well after you beat it and acquire its loot you get to go to the Mystic T.

But even with that rotation, don’t you still have spans of time just sitting around? I can’t imagine any of those in that rotation to take the whole 15 minutes to complete.

Well, there’s opening the chest, bags, coffers, whatever and using the TP with the results. There’s getting to the next spot – I always go to Vigil’s Keep first and portal to the closest city for cheaper WPs.

i think megaservers ought to be left for the lowlevel zones (say 1-50) and should be left out of orr.

megaservers in orr has completely ruined the economy. there’s literally no farm left and it’s driving precursors and mat prices (t6 specifically) up ridiculously high. i don’t know how you guys intend on fixing this otherwise.

most precursors are 1100g+, t6 prices are 40s+.

Why do you say it’s ruined Orr? I find there are lots of people there, but not too many, and people are calling out Champions, and doing Temple runs. It seems very good to me.

All professions (the GW2 term for class in other MMOs) are pretty good for solo play. You can really just try them out and see which one you enjoy best. The thing you really want to do is make sure you read about the combat system in GW2:

Because they want everything to be sold through the TP, with the TP tax.

Anet does not earn any revenue from the TP tax….it’s just a gold sink (that ALL MMOs need to have). Not having to handle scammer support tickets DOES cost them less overhead, however.

Yeah, that’s what I meant. They want you to consider the tax when selling, and want to have the gold sink there.

Which armor

Sorry it took such a long time to answer, been busy with school & stuff.

So if I understand correctly, the best is ascended.
But what about the dungeon armor, what is this ?
And also, what are trinkets ?
I’ve still got alot to learn lol.

Erich, you mentioned that Badges can be used for exotic armor & dungeon tokens, but what do you mean with that ?
Do you mean I can buy that kind of armor, or ar the badges needed to do any kind of upgrade on the armor ?

Thanks in advance !

Here’s a good place to start:

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_armor_sets

Dungeon armor is Exotic.

When he refers to Badges, he’s talking about Badges of Honor, gained by doing WvW.

It’s all on that wiki page.

Ascended Crafting & the great Laurel Timegate

in Crafting

I would argue that they just need to remove the need to actually craft ascended and allow them to be gotten in PvP dungeon quests where you get tickets to get whatever piece you want and drop frequently (again ticket based to get stats you want) far more regularly in WvW.

Crafting should be quite optional OR ascended gear should be salable at quite reasonable prices.

Ideally, both.

Well, Ascended gear is already optional.. so…….

The other thing I’m doing is leveling lot of characters through zones to get the mats I need for Crafting. There is no easy way for one character to get the mats for a Craft out in the world.

So, in summary: Yes, even outdated guides can still be used 1-400.

Lankybrit.4598

Adding FoTM, the new dungeons in FoTM, EoTM, and all of the temp content in between is more than WoW did in the same time period. That’s a fact.

Let see what wow released in a year and half.
Added 2 dungeons multiple paths(Maraudon and dire maul)
Added 4 Raids (Blackwing Lair, Zul’Gurub, Ahn’Qiraj, Naxxramas)
Added 3 Battlegrounds with different game types
Added 10 world bosses
Added the Blackmoon faire and weekly fishing event and holiday events.
Seems that fact is a lie to me.

How is a lie? we definitely got more content than that, far more. People insist temporay content doesnt count but how many max level wow characters still play Blackwing lair ? or kill any of those 10 world bosses? Or do Dire Maul?

sure physically they’re still in game no doubt about that, but mechanically they’re no longer accessible because of power creep. Gw2 does temporary by removing content, WoW does temporary content by giving an expatriation date to content.

He was talking about a year and a half in the same lifespan for WoW as GW2. That is, early WoW stuff vs early GW2 stuff. So, you would be looking at the content back after it was just released to see who was still playing it.

Why don’t you just look at all the WoW changes over the last 2 years versus those for GW2 over the last two years. It’s clear what a subscription buys.

I actually like the Personal Story.

My only qualms is that it can conflict with the Living World making things weird like LA.

It doesnt conflict with anything. The personal story takes place loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong before the LS does in the timeline. The fact that LA appears the same as it does in certain PS missions is irrelevant.

For those of us who have seen LA prior to Scarlet’s attack, though, it is somewhat… disorientating. I mean, things like Tybalt “selling” his apples in a city that has been reduced to ash, or working your way around debris from the Breachmaker to speak to General Soulkeeper seem more than a little “whut?” to me.

Indeed. Any time I’m sent to LA on my personal story now I die a little inside.

There is a 99.9% chance that you’re in over your head. Best of luck!

Unlikely.

Since we’re going to be mass forging because we really need our precursor we will need to buy the components and then craft these greatswords with our weaponsmith.

-snip-

The action of purchasing from the Trading Post (thus incurring the Trade Post fees, which remove gold from the game) is the reason why gold is removed from the game.

It is NOT the action for destroying items that removes the gold from the game.

I’m talking about the individual’s gold not the greater economy which is irrelevant.

Ahh, I think we’ve got to the root of the problem. A gold sink takes money from the overall economy. You can’t just apply it to an individual, you have to look at the game economy as a whole.

Welcome to understanding. I’ve only ever been speaking about the economy from an individual player’s perspective.

Why did you use the term Gold Sink then? A better term would have been ‘Waste of money’.

You could type the alphabet and claim it’s poetry as well. Crafting rares to throw into the forge chasing a legendary precursor bankrupts unlucky players. This is the gold sink I’m referring to. In addition to the macro sinks of waypoint costs and TP fees.

Bankruptcy is the appropriate term for what you are describing, not “Gold Sink”.

Gold Sinks are things that delete currency (not asset value) from the game in order to offset the fact that currency is created out of thin air when players do things in the game.

Spending all of your coins chasing a pipe dream is just plain old-fashioned Bankruptcy.

Since I will never purchase a precursor I have two choices, forge one, and since a drop will never happen, don’t craft a legendary. Those are my two choices.

You are correct that a gold sink deletes gold from the economy I’ll use the term golden toilet to address the mystic forge.

Why can’t we convince you? The TP tax is on every transaction. It’s a gold sink. If you have 1000g that you spend trying to get a pre-cursor, you’ve given 850g to other players, and 150g is sunk. What would you do if you didn’t put them in the Mystic Forge? Flip them? Generating another 15% sink? Vendor them? For a pittance? The amount of gold taken out of the economy by forging them is infinitesimal.
