Okay, let’s get some things clear here. China does not have the patch yet, and it seems to be an unintended leak. The patch was delayed for China, for the same reason: testing.

Literally on the first page, look before posting.
What do you want to skip? What content does this apply to? Why do you want to skip it? All valuable information.
The other part I want to ask is what exactly does taunt do? Does it just force the target to walk to you and have you as its target? If so casting any one of the AoEs in the game will be an interesting counter. AoEs don’t need to be centred on your target.
Reason why I ask that is there might be mobs that throw taunt on players. I’m hoping there are but I don’t want to be forced to take a stun breaker all the time. I’m hoping AoE focused builds can do a soft ignore with it, excluded the forced walk.
It locks your skill bar out except for your auto-attack and stunbreakers, and you are forced to run towards the target and attack them with auto-attack.
Oh, so it barely affects mainhand axe warriors or d/d ele in air attunement or thieves (whose autoatttacks all hit like a truck).
Yeah, pretty much.
The second, because bubbles actually pop by themselves anyway when they get too close to the husk. And if the offshoots get destroyed, they only put a weak regen buff on the husk. The key to defeating the husk effectively is destroying the bubbles before they get close to the husk.
Why not just wait in the first place?

The video is set to private.
And what if someone bought HoT with gems from achievement chests? Nobody bought those.
I think if there would be an achievement tied to ascended weapons, it would include the underwater weapons as well. Mainly because the other collections do not ignore the underwater weapons.

Might I just add that in this interview Jon Peters said it himself “alot of people keep talking about oh there’s just… not roles in GW2, that was never the intention…..We want people to think about their builds.”
That pretty much sums it up for me! I’m now excited for what HoT will bring to the table at launch!
Likely talking about how some people seem to think there isn’t, when there in fact always has been. But everyone can fill all the roles through their choice of traits, utilities, and weapons. And it will continue being that way.
That river doesn’t lead anywhere btw. If you listened to the whole interview from the time stamp you’d see exactly what he’s talking about is exactly what we’ve been saying. There are no roles, the combat system isn’t where they’d like it to be even he admited that, and in the future HoT will be the ground work where people will have more options and skills that give them trinity like abilities. You all can stop posting now it’s from the horses mouth.

And yet here it says that taunt isn’t going to be like the one from other MMOs, also from a game designer.
Didn’t claim it would be but what it does do is add trinity like options. You’re just going to have to deal with it man, get a support group you’ll be okay.
Um… support already exists in organised dungeons man.

You realize that just confirms what I have been talking about, right? Guild Wars 2 has always had roles, it’s just that everyone fills those roles through their choice of traits, utilities, and weapons. Heck, it’s even in the GW2 wiki.

“Due to a diverse skill system allowing for a multitude of vastly different character builds, every profession in Guild Wars 2 is capable of fitting each of the combat roles (damage, support, control) or are sometimes even the result of a combination of them.”

From the wiki itself.

I think people have forgotten that these games are called MMORPGs for a reason. The R in RPG stands for Role as in you have a role to fulfill. This game is lacking Roles outside of the Zerker meta which is the reason why these threads have appeared since the onset of the game. They don’t have to make it mandatory but the least they could do is make it an option it’s not going to hurt the Zerker crowd in the slightest if they make it more complex.
They keep saying they want people to group well give people a reason to group that’s what people want.
You seem to be getting confused about what the R in RPG means.
“A role-playing game (RPG) is a game in which each participant assumes the role of a character, generally in a fantasy or science fiction setting, that can interact within the game’s imaginary world.”
That has no relation to mechanics of combat.
It truly is a mis-ter-E.

Here they state that it is not like taunt from other MMOs.They may use those exact words but it’s not accurate or they wouldn’t call it a taunt.
I think what’s accurate to say is that it is not exactly the same as taunts from other MMOs. But it has the same basic function – to draw attacks away from other players onto yourself.
This is one the key tools of a tank.
Ergo it’s introduction into GW2 is a clear step back from their no-trinity stance.
Um… it’s their words, and ArenaNet often uses words with their own definitions. I would say their own words would be accurate, considering he’s a game designer behind it.
How is gw version of taunt related to trinity?
Tanks taunt. Tanks are part of trinity design. GW2 is introducing taunts.

Launch a chain at your target. When the chain connects with a foe, it slows and taunts them.

Here they state that it is not like taunt from other MMOs. Also, all CCs do to bosses will be reducing the break bar, and then the boss goes into a state where it is completely immune to CCs while something specific happens.
The sPvP meta shifts often, it has not always been sustain. It is completely player driven.
The feature was added in because of people complaining when they accidentally deleted an important item.
I’m going to laugh when more difficult content is actually going to affect the people using defensive stats in the first place, because of them not having the skill level to complete the content. There’s always people that cry for nerfs when anything remotely difficult is put in the game.
There are many PvE items that can not be opened in sPvP, you need to exit the lobby.
If the content is challenging enough pure dps is not optimal look at pvp and wvw.
Both of those game modes have people that use zerkers, not all classes benefit from celestial in sPvP, and plenty of backliners use zerkers in WvW.
But you don’t see a zerg with only backline and is very rare to see a spvp team with 5 zerkers.
And I did not state such.

Unfortunately maps do not level you to the highest level in a zone, so you need to get the last levels from somewhere else. Doing some stuff in another map or crafting are good options usually, events too.
People would just use their heal skill.
All the blindfolds are, are a headpiece skin. Just like every other class choice headpiece.

Interesting tidbit about taunt, it should ease peoples minds about it. Also a lot of interesting information before that time about development of challenging content.
There will be new skills like taunt where you lose control of your character and it runs towards the creature/player that put taunt on you and to automatically start attacking…. There will be new boons like resistance too.
Are you serious? The taunt thing?
Yes, that is real. People will need to bring stun breaks.

They are not currently working on it, but they do have an interest in it.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/DamageGuild Wars 2 has always had a soft trinity. Joining pug wannabe speedclear parties is not a good way to judge the effectiveness of it, because those parties are most of the time actually not efficient, as well as using outdated tactics.
Congratulations. That has to be the most outrageous thing I’ve read in these forums.
What, because it’s true? Proper dungeon parties build for team synergy, that is the thing ArenaNet wants players to do. Everyone plays more than one role.

Some people seem to have selective reading.
Outfits are inherently much easier to design, because of the fact they do not need to worry so much about splitting it into parts. This is one of the reasons why the newer outfits tend to be higher quality than the older ones.
If there was they would have put it in the news post.
Imagine my surprise the thread is still tearing along 6 pages later… Especially as since then we’ve had it direct from the Devs own lips in interviews that the monomaniacal Zerker meta is a concern for them they’re looking at dealing with. Its under scrutiny and that’s good enough for me.
And in interviews they also said they do not want to discourage it, on the first page.
If you don’t plan on doing WvW with them, you can just join their party, right click on their character portrait and join in their megaserver map.
What weapon is this in this Revenant’s hand on the wall paper?
One handed sword. It has a sword handle.
(edited by Lazaar.9123)
Not likely.
We already have a lot of information about Stronghold, even videos of people playing it.
http://youtu.be/Rp_VPVkCmAQ?t=8m44s
Colin already talked about it and said it is not something they are working on right now.
They were not in the press event demo, and it’s likely they’re using the same version.
I’m surprised no one has talked about signet of vampirism.
Mallyx heal healed him for 6,167, Jalis heal healed him for 5,060. That’s a total of 11,227 healed, which would be more healed if there was more conditions on him, plus retaliation, resistance if traited, as well as condition removal.
Lets do some calculations with those numbers.
Both healing skills have a cooldown of 30 seconds and if we dont take casttimes in consideration this is at best an hps of 11227/30=374.33 (still unrealistic since it would mean you spam your healing skills on cooldown). It also looks like he was wearing celetrial amulet so he has some healing power.
Now compare that to Healing signet (see http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Healing_Signet). Without any healing power it is 362 hps and with celestrial amulet only it should roughly be 362+0.05*438=384 hps.
So with does numbers in mind does it still look so strong?
Where did I put my opinion on it? I was merely providing numbers and factors for those that were curious.

If there was only one map, your client would crash because of overload.
