From the precursor crafting blog, in the section about the new legendaries (not the currently existing ones)

“The methods by which you’ll craft these legendary weapons are similar to the existing system, but we’ve refined it into more of a journey, similar to precursor crafting. "

So the system for the new legendaries will be a bit different, but we currently do not have the details of it.

From the german forums red post (very rough google translation)

“Good morning everyone,
I want to assure on behalf of ArenaNet, that we have the greatest respect for the airplane tragedy that has recently occurred in Europe, and bring our regret at. Our thoughts and sympathy are with all those who have lost their lives in the plane crash in the bereaved families, relatives and friends.
I want to assure you that our April Fool’s in no way a reference to the tragic events of recent days is still in any way related to them. The work on this joke was planned several months ago, and integrated into the game during a longer lasting development process.
We would like to apologize to all those who feel reminded of the joke of the events in France, or who have lost a loved one.”

If Atheism is the lack of belief how can you get anybody to believe in it?

The process from turning a precursor into a legendary (using the gifts in the mystic forge) will still be the way for the existing gen of legendaries. It may be different for the new ones coming with HoT though.

Who's gonna get rich off precursor crafting?

Do you people even read blog posts before posting ? Christ, they clearly said that precursors obtained by collections will NOT BE TRADEABLE, as well as thing needed to complete them.
You’ve just had useless argument about thing that was explained long ago.
Good job.

“The final collections in these precursor journeys return to the themes of their respective legendary weapon. For the Moot, this is where the celebrating starts. Since the Moot’s theme is all about partying, you’ll participate in a range of activities that include dancing with world leaders, setting off fireworks for the Spirits of the Wild, and sampling delicacies and libations from around Tyria. This final collection unlocks the recipe to craft the polished final iteration of the precursor. For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon, but they will all be updated to use new skins that look much like the legendary weapons they’ll one day become. We like to think of these new precursor skins as the legendary weapon before it is embodied by its soul. Unlocking one of these new skins in your wardrobe will also unlock the two previous tiers of skins. So, should you get lucky and find a precursor out in the world, you won’t miss out on the skins.”

Do you?

In case you are confused about the terminology used, here is a reference in the blog post about the mastery system:

““Master Legends: Train in legendary crafting to learn to create all existing legendary weapon precursors and new legendary weapon precursors introduced with Heart of Thorns.””

Tomes of knowledge

Lazaar.9123

i havent hear/read that either anywhere…

On another note it makes me think.

at lvl 80 you will gain mastery points instead of skill points when you level up right?

Does that mean the people with 500+ tomes of knowledge (seen lots of those…) can just consume them all when HoT gets out and get 500 instant mastery points!?

As someone who played in the stress test, I can say that exp does not give mastery points. You spend a mastery point to unlock the ability to train the track with exp. I am not sure if tomes of knowledge would give exp towards the training of the mastery track, but I assume not.

My question is, are the non-tradable Exotics gained from this process account-bound or soulbound? For example, say I want The Flameseeker Prophecies for my Guardian, only to find that the precursor requires Weaponsmithing to craft, a skill which my Warrior has maxxed out. Can I get the exotic, craft it on my Warrior, then hand it to my Guardian so she can use it in the meantime, only to send it back to my Warrior later on for the next step?

Given the fact that the weapons can only be crafted once per recipe (and you can only get one recipe per precursor), it’s pretty safe to say that the first two tiers will be account-bound. As for the final tier which is the full precursor, the existing iteration of the full precursors will be tradable, but the new precursors coming with Heart of Thorns (as they are added in) will also probably be account-bound. (as they are not tradable)

New precursors still be obtained using RNG?

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Lazaar.9123

It’d be good to know if the new precursors will be still available true the old means of acquiring. And if they (the new precursors) will be tradable.

If you read the blog post you would know already. Yes, the old precursors can still be found via drops or the mystic toilet. The old precursors gained the current way will still be tradeable. Any precursors made with the mastery system will be account bound. The new legendaries will only be available through the mastery system, so neither they or their precursors will be available for trade.

Not quite, the old precursors that are crafted with the recipe obtained from the new system will be tradable.

" This final collection unlocks the recipe to craft the polished final iteration of the precursor. For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon, but they will all be updated to use new skins that look much like the legendary weapons they’ll one day become. "

Yes, existing, as in current ones. Like ones in the game right now. Read it again.

No, existing refers to the legendaries and precursors that are not the new ones coming in Heart of Thorns, in the two paragraphs before that is specifically says the two tiers that build-up to the full precursor are untradable, but it says the precursor you craft with the recipe obtained from completing the final tier is a tradable exotic weapon.

As a reference that they have used the terminology in this way before, here is a quote from the mastery system blog.

“Master Legends: Train in legendary crafting to learn to create all existing legendary weapon precursors and new legendary weapon precursors introduced with Heart of Thorns.”

Well, then either the blog post is wrong or WP is.

I just looked through the comment section, and he admits that he read it wrong.

Edit: Post tidying.

I swear, that better not be the Chaos of Lyssa and Shadow of Grenth Recipes.

Anet, please don’t do this. This would be the worst decision in the world if that is what they are.

The reason people hate precursors right now is because it’s based off of RNG and most have to purchase it for huge amount of golds. If you’re replacing this with items like the Chaos of Lyssa and Shadow of Grenth, both of which can’t be acquired year around AND are based in RNG, it will solve NOTHING.

DO NOT put RNG items in the collections. You’re simply replacing one issue with multiple issues. If you decide to put RNG items like these recipes into the collections, they’ll sky rocket in price. They’ll probably cost the same amount as precursors and nothing will get solved.

People want collections/crafting to have a RELIABLE, GUARANTEED way o getting a legendary. Not something based in RNG.

Please allow me to complete that statement~

“Upgrading t5 mats to the higher tier in mystic forge is guaranteed to net you fewer than if you’d sold them and spent the resulting coin on buying t6s…”

Between the terrible return ratios, burning a t6 mat AND t6 dust as part of the inputs, and the skill point item fee, its a thing, but its not a good thing.

Upgrading mats to the higher tier in mystic forge is guaranteed. The amount of mats you get in return is the RNG part.
