I wouldn’t trust my money to anyone saying yes in this poll.
Okay, here’s the deal. Taunt will not change the game into a trinity system, as the game is built from the ground up to not have it. Nor is there any indication that is has anything at all to do with threat. People will continue to use berserker stats, and will just use taunt to reposition enemies. So, let’s put these trinity reactions and pleading to rest, yes?
all you need for a trinity system is forced aggro control. we already have heals
that said if this is only available on a few classes, and has sufficient cooldown, your probably wont have enough forced agro control for a trinity to take hold completely.
However it is a step in that direction.
That would still not bring a traditional trinity, because people can already heal themselves, and content does not require a tank.
it doesnt have to require a tank, if its easier and faster with a tank.
a lot of games you could win without a tank, its just a lot more risky, and slower.point is once someone can focus agro on himself, other people can focus on dps, and sacrifice their own defenses, then it might be worthwhile for someone else to focus on healing stats/skills to keep them alive, and yes you can actually heal a lot if you focus on it.
if they ever make challenging encounters, you will find more people going for the safer route, than the fastest unless the difference in speed is drastic.
however as i said, 1 or 2 skills, on 1 or two classes with cooldowns, wont be enough to create that situation, they would need to be able to make the monster attack them the majority of the time.
Tanking has and always will be slower than pure dps in Guild Wars 2, nothing will change that. PvE content isn’t challenging. This game is advertised to have no holy trinity, if people come to this game expecting it, it’s their own fault. My last post in this thread, as I have made my points.

The team does the best they can with gold sellers, just report the gold sellers and they will get dealt with usually quickly. There is no simple solution to it.

In any way a reliable way to distract the bosses in dungeons for a few seconds would be welcome. For most you can use crowd control though (going trough 5 defiant stacks isn’t hard), but some are not crowd controllable.
It’s a new CC, so it wouldn’t change anything in that respect.
looking forward to Taunt’ing Lupi and getting the party wiped
Lupi with one small exception is immune to cc. Besides, which skill would be his autoattack?
That raises a good question actually. What happens to bosses or regular mobs that have no auto attack?
There’s also an enemy npc that has a skill called taunt. It does pretty much exactly what the new CC does.
which one would that be?
i only know of the Sylvari Champion in Brisban Wildlands
but he has a different CCit changes your controlls to the opposite
so if you press “Walk left” you will walk to the right etc…but i dont know of ANY enemy that has the Taunt mechanic already…
It’s not exactly the same, but it’s certainly where they tested the mechanic/drew inspiration from.
~snip~
You should go post here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Taunt-rise-of-tanks
I think you people are really overestimating this. Creatures can also use it against players, all it is, is a new CC. And thus would be ignored by stability and defiance.
“you people” !?!
The people wanting tanks.
Except, taunt will help me make a tank character.
The reason why tank doesn’t work is not because Toughness/Vit sucks, its because there isn’t a reliable way to get aggro.
Of course, it won’t destroy the zerker meta, but at least my tank character can actually tank.
Except there is nothing mentioned about agro at all, in fact what it mentioned goes against that. The target goes back to doing anything it wants after the duration ends (which will likely only be a few seconds, if not less), and adds no threat.
Send it to exploits@arena.net , that is where you send information if you want an exploit fixed.
And that, will never happen.
People would just use it to assault a keep with endless reinforcements until the enemy gave up.
Hopefully gear with toughness will be actually useful in PvE.
They are. As a step ladder.
In Guild Wars 2, boss taunt you!
Kasmeer of Tarth will teach us how.

Taunts don’t last long in WoW either. From what I remember they last only 1 second in WoW.
Is the duration and name of the effect really having people tripping this much? Lol.
You are forgetting the fact taunts in WoW also affect agro. If you like WoW so darn much, why don’t you play it?
If you hate WoW so much, why don’t you quit MMOs altogether?
That doesn’t even make sense yo.

But Anet used that term Tanks.

The weapon in the trailer was a melee weapon. Revenant hammer is a ranged weapon. There’s no victory there.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Event
As to the dead bodies specifically: “Events can detect that players have not performed any actions relating to the event within a period of time and will scale down the event accordingly.”
Likely removed, as they are now completely useless ever since glory was removed.
Glowing Crimson Mask, it’s in the gemstore.
It’s a sequel, hence the 2. There’s nothing false advertising about it.
The Tribal armor set and other armor sets that were sPvP-exclusive will be obtainable again at some point in the future. There is no ETA as to when this will happen.

The specialized extractors are there to get specific parts, and that’s exactly what they’re doing. You just need two bladder pieces in general.
Bags are not affected by MF.
“To train a specific Mastery track, you must first unlock it by spending Mastery points. Mastery points are awarded for completing various pieces of game content. Things like completing a chapter in your personal story, completing certain achievements, reaching hard-to-find locations, overcoming challenging encounters, excelling at adventures found within the Heart of Maguuma, or earning 100% completion for a map will award Mastery points. "
Reading comprehension is great.
Mastery points are not granted by exp, only training a mastery track is. Mastery points are from adventures and some specific content.
wrong u also gain mastery points for a track by gaining a lvl. this then replaces a skill point you would of earnt from lvling up
players who’ve reached level 80 will no longer gain levels but will instead train Masteries. This means characters that have reached level 80 will no longer gain skill points through leveling. Skill points will be added as rewards across high-level content to offset this change.

the ability to read all info before posting is a very valuable skill not just on the forums but in life to !!!!!
“To see all your Mastery tracks, spend Mastery points, and change which Mastery you are currently training, click the Mastery training bar to bring up the Mastery tray. Because the Mastery training bar completely replaces the experience bar, players who’ve reached level 80 will no longer gain levels but will instead train Masteries.”
Maybe you should read it. This is also talked about in the recent POI streams.

I’m not 100% sure this is true. We just don’t know yet. I believe it’s been implied that experience will give you mastery points…but I don’t think level up scrolls will do that. That would be nuts.
It’s in the blog post that explains the mastery system.

vs. a 5 second res from down state.
How many times do people have to state it’s about ressing people from full dead state?
It will drop to the price of the other ascended materials when Guild Wars 3 launches.
So WHY does it matter if they lay there dead?
Because full dead bodies get in the way of ressing people that are only downed.
. . . given how often I don’t get picked up when downed, I don’t think that’s as big an issue as you claim. I’ve been left to die (hard death) more often than picked up.
And most of the times someone picks me up has been in WvW, not in PvE. In PvE, it’s been my experience if you go down people generally seem to think you somehow deserved it and won’t help.
Take the zerg spot in Tequatl for example, if a notification pops up people will spam f to res them, but if it’s a dead body they interacted with instead it will be a huge dps loss and will likely cause someone that is only downed to full die.
So WHY does it matter if they lay there dead?
Because full dead bodies get in the way of ressing people that are only downed.
They don’t really refund items or gold from miss clicks. I found this out the hard way.
Likely not true, as the demo isn’t even available to the public yet.
There is already plenty of threads on this topic, go read them.
Here is an example of what Marjory’s Axe does, it changes the projectile skin from the default axe to Marjory’s Axe. This also applies to the dagger.
Edit: And here is another example with a ranger instead.

Correct, consumable karma gives a fixed amount that can not be altered.
Karma boosting no longer affects consumable karma, this was changed quite a long time ago.
The super golem-suit in one of the Orr personal story paths provides you with hammer kills, weapon masteries from transformations are not a new anomaly. (And that’s with a giant laser)
Marjory’s axe does indeed have unique projectile animations, I use it often.
Many of the priory weapon skins also have a green colour, made out of some kind of green glassy material. They have a pretty interesting aesthetic in my opinion.
