I would like to ask. But why do some of you all care so much if a trinity system was added to the game?
If you dont like it, just dont play the trinity. Why do any of you care if it gets added?
One problem that you have with a hardcore trinity system is that you need one specific class to do one specific task. The whole success of something depends on that class doing its job right.
Imagine you can’t do something because the new content in GW2 would be designed with a trinity in mind and you would lack the profession in your party that’s the new dedicated tank/dps/healer.
I remember RF Online, a korean mmorpg I once played. The game had a trinity and the tank was a terrible class to play when you weren’t leveling in a party. Pretty much the only thing it was good in was taking hits, taunting and burning through hp-potions.
But when you wanted to level any character in high level areas, you needed a tank that could pull and keep an enemy and had the gear to keep standing in these areas.
This resulted in very few good tanks and therefore long waiting-times to form a party.
When I decided to play a tank and was pretty decent at it, the guild started to throw expensive gear at me to keep me playing, that’s how desperate everyone was for tanks.Look at Test’s answer. You can have different dungeons that do different things, so if you want to play in a certain meta, you play in that one. Then everyone is satisfied that knows the situation. Then, in some dungeons, you won’t be forced to do diverse builds, while others you are. Even if this isn’t a quality answer, and diverse builds is forced, worst case scenario you find another group.
That is still forced roles, no matter what way you try to paint it.
Yeah, there’s so much diversity… oh wait. Zerker meta is one role.
Zerker is optional, you don’t have to get this kind of a gear if you have that wish.
You have a choice, with trinity there’s not much of a choice.zerker isnt optional.Noone will take you to dungeons if u dont play zerk.I dont see any options in game atm.Everyone plays the exact same with the others if they want to play with other ppl and not by themselves.Anet said no holy trinity but also said no expansion too and see what happened. We get full paid expansion and now they add taunt. They want to bring more ppl in game and that will happen only with trinity because ppl want to have the ability to choose a role in game and not play only one that the rest of the players forces you to if you want to be in a group.
First of all, ArenaNet never said there would be no expansion. Second of all, yes it is optional, there are parties that list “All welcome” in LFG often. If you do not see one, make your own. If you can’t be bothered to look on the first page for a guide to do it, here it is again.
This is intended, not a bug. It’s meant for giving to an alt to level. Hence why the container is named “Mentor’s Kit”.
Queen Elizabeth II is invading Tyria with her army of Queen’s Guard golems!
It’s been reported as a bug before, it affects quite a few of us. But I have not seen any acknowledgement from ArenaNet that they are looking into it.
GW2 does not have a trinity, will not have a trinity, and does not need a trinity. There are other games you can play if you want that thing.
Gw2 doesn’t need mounts or gliders, go play Archeage…hang gliders inc.
GW2 doesn’t need vertical gear progression go play WoW- Ascended in.
GW2 doesn’t need to put an emphasis on tank builds-Taunt & slow inc.Not everything needs to be black and white, grey is good, and so is a better emphasis of builds outside of zerker. It’s coming.
good read here also,

An article that is entirely based on opinions isn’t going to help you much here. You’ve been wanting the holy trinity in Guild Wars 2 for ages now, that doesn’t mean it’s coming.
Specializations, i’m hoping that they have the same level of new tech as the revenant has.
Sadly they have already made it clear there’s not going to be any actual new weapons this expansion, there might be in the future though, a lot of people have asked for two-handed axes. (And makes sense, when you look at the warrior profession image)
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Executioner_Axe_Toy
They are in the game.
So, if engineer was the best at everything, would you nerf it to make other professions playable?
No, I would buff the other classes so that they are also able to fill the roles in their own unique ways.
And in the end, what’s the difference? Then you buff the boss, same situation, different number factor.
Nope. You have had many explanations to you on the state of things and why certain things do not change anything, by multiple people. If you choose to ignore it all, that’s ultimately your choice.
So, if engineer was the best at everything, would you nerf it to make other professions playable?
No, I would buff the other classes so that they are also able to fill the roles in their own unique ways.
Are current meta is “zerker only”. You must have a meta, but why not have it like… 1 support, 1 control, etc. To get rid of zerker only, you need to make it nearly impossible which is why you make the mobs harder. +50% attack speed, and make it to no one shots, then dps only groups are impossible.
That idea is extremely anti-diversity. You’re nerfing one playstyle to buff another.
If there is a way for everyone in the party to all be able to dps, that will always be the fastest and most efficient way to do it, because it’s speed+speed+speed+speed+speed. No matter what you really do to diversify builds, there will always be a most efficient way, there will always be a meta, there isn’t a way around that. There isn’t really many people that are against conditions being fixed properly, as long as the change does not affect the effectiveness of power builds. Roles forced by the game actually doesn’t promote diversity, it does the opposite. In the context of support builds, support is different in Guild Wars 2 in that it is more about boons and conditions, and not healing, because people are able to heal themselves. Changing encounters to promote a different meta ultimately doesn’t help at all, as it is just a new meta.
tldr; The ultimate point of diversity is to have multiple ways to complete something, but that actually already exists. It’s up to the players themselves if they wish to use the other options.

You’re not likely to gain credibility by posting a link to a diversity thread, in a holy trinity thread.
My healing signet only works when im ooc not during a fight, and i can only click it once and hope im not getting smacked hard whereas a dedicated healer would have me covered so i can get back in the fight. I really dont understand the opinion of not having a healer since this game is a meta build anyway. im not expecting anything but if you feel this game has no need for a healer, youre sadly mistaken. There are some situational fights (lupi for example) where a healer should be a mandatory meta. Why are you defending the no healer argument? State some factual evidence instead of trying to condescend me for playing.
Believe it or not, the holy trinity actually promotes anti-diversity, as it is just another meta, but it is a less accessible meta. Everyone can play all roles is the point of Guild Wars 2 system. And, healing signet? That heals constantly, not just OOC. If you want to have a healer in your party, that’s fine, you can make your own party using the LFG tool to play with people you want (just like everyone else does). Punishing everyone that bought the game because it had no holy trinity, certainly isn’t the way to go about it.
Okay youre clearly misreading my statements, im saying theres a definite purpose having a healing meta not necessarily a holy trinity. Secondly no one is pushing anyone and you dont represent the entire player base as there are alot of people that would enjoy playing a healing based proffession so again not really sure where your source is coming from that its not as accessible. and the healing signet is worthless as you always take more incoming damage than it heals per second.
You know there’s more than one warrior heal, right? It’s your own choice to take a passive heal over an active heal.
Yes im aware theres other active heals that heal you ONE time. Or remove a condition ONE time. Then they go on cooldown for X amount of seconds.
Which is all you need if you have enough skill at the game. If you feel a need to take a healer in your party, go for it, nothing is stopping you from making your own LFG party.
Lol you do realize you can only dodge twice in a row right? You must be super pro if you only need to heal yourself one time throughout an entire boss fight, like world class realm first mmo 5% of the entire player base type of pro. But remove my endurance bar and give me infinite dodge, i’ll have all the skill in the world.
Here is a video guide if you need assistance.
Ive already watched all of nike’s videos and the problem with that is you have to make a specialized group build which takes significantly more time then needed. I think you need to play other real mmos for awhile and then comeback to gw2 to really grasp the situatino and why having a zerker dominated meta is toxic for a game thats supports “diversity, any proff any weapon” i can provide you with some other mmo’s if you need help getting educated, message me.
If you are still not able to go into the LFG tool and create a party, I am worried for you.

Here we go with everyone chiming in on the forums disagreeing with everything any poster has ever said. I, however am all for a trinity or a group wide healing build. I dont really care how “pro” you claim to be or “you need to learn damage mitigation and dodge better”, stop before you even start. this is a game based on aoe damage, and face tanking just like ever other major mmo. There shouldve been a healing build at launch. My 2 cents.
Dodging and avoiding damage =/= face tanking. Everyone can heal themselves anyway. The game was advertised as no holy trinity on almost every site that talked about it, it’s your own fault if you came to Guild Wars 2 wanting to play a tank or a healer.
In my opinion, you have 5 guild slots for a reason.
In this video there is a bar under the NPCs health that changes when it is being taunted by the player. Is this a new sort of aggro system? I truly hope so.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7zkWJxYqUAThat’s the new defiance bar, which is related to CC. Nothing related to aggro. Guild Wars 2 already has an aggro system, but players can not manipulate it with threat from skills, and that will likely never change.
are you a dev? How do you know it’s a defiance bar. Someone on reddit claimed it was a new defiance bar and an ANET dev said he was basically wrong. http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2wluav/new_defiance_bar_active_only_during_monsters/
It’s the symbol used for unshakeable, it’s pretty easy to tell.
that symbol is only shown during the NPC’s ability. there is a different, new looking icon.
Oh boy, there never is a point to attempt to debate with someone pro-trinity.

Yesterdays PoI show they used the word tank quite a few times, taunt sounds fitting to me.
They used the word tanky, not tank. Different things. ArenaNet have made it very clear that they don’t want Guild Wars 2 to be a holy trinity game, people need to move on from definitions from other mmos.
(edited by Lazaar.9123)
I think enrage sounds a lot better personally, and it sort of fits the way this status effect acts. When I think taunt, I just see someone getting a bit mad. When I think enrage, I see them going absolutely berserk and ignoring all their skills except their auto attack.
Edit: And honestly, the argument of people confusing taunt goes both ways.

Guild Wars 2 has been clearly stated to not have a holy trinity on almost every site that talked about it, if you came to the game expecting it, that’s your fault.
It’s this. that_shaman datamined both the blindfolds awhile ago.

Is there really a need to quote your own post a minute after you made it?
It’s safe to assume Revenant will be restricted to HoT owners.
Yeah, they did downgrade the servers for it. The amount of lag you get really depends on where you are in the world. It can be really bad for people in oceania.
(edited by Lazaar.9123)
Many of the bosses will inherently be immune to stuff like taunt, just because of how they are mechanically designed. Even on new bosses, I don’t see taunt being allowed to be used on stuff like that dragon boss shown.
(edited by Lazaar.9123)
All the classes were nerfed before release, Revenant will not be an exception.
I’m waiting for sword to be revealed so Colin can swing his sword.
How much hate would they get if revies can’t use sword or greatsword?
they can use a sword /fact
not sure about greatsword, i really hope they do, it only make sense
Sword is unconfirmed, recall that Rytlock carried/used an off-hand pistol in his time as a warrior so the sword might just be is connection to his past.
Pop the revenant was using a main hand sword in the POI.
I’m waiting for sword to be revealed so Colin can swing his sword.
Berserker stats in PvE like usual.
Oh, great, so that means when I pop stability to avoid getting bounced around like a basketball by three modrem teragriffs charging at the same time, it’s going to be useless because it works only once?
Or just interrupt their charges with movement conditions.
You can also email them at exploits@arena.net
That email is for reporting an exploit, not an exploiter.
Well wouldn’t an exploiter be using an exploit in order to be an exploiter?
Yes, but it is typically not their job to take action on it. In-game reports notify GMs that are in-game.
You can also email them at exploits@arena.net

It depends. If it works like defiance stacks and have no duration time (so it means if you have one stack you have it until you get CC’d or log off), then I’m fine with the change, since you could still stack up 25 stacks stability in preparation to the fight if needed. If it also has duration-time, then it sucks though
It does have a duration.

Keep in mind that Revenant is very likely to get nerfed. Also the only skill shown that applies taunt so far has a whopping 50 energy cost. Thief initiative used to be too easy to manage until it was nerfed, watch it happen to Revenant.
(edited by Lazaar.9123)
Isn’t that technically more than 2 buttons?
In-game report tool, under botting. (It is the option used until a proper one comes)
Looks like Revenant have more cleave compared to warrior (weaponmaster lol!!)..
Almost every skill can cleave 5 targets.
Explain to me why warrior only have 3 on freaking GREATsword or whatever weapon warrior uses!!…
This game is so WEIRD!!
You do not know the detail yet, why do you assume is 5?
http://dulfy.net/2015/02/20/gw2-revenant-weapon-skills-legendary-skills-and-traits/
That is indeed something to do with the game files, I just went and checked that merchant and everything was normal.
I mised the stream can someone explain the change?
Stackable meaning….? it gets removed like stacks of defiance off bosses when they are hit with a stun?
It’s very, very similar to this: http://wildstaronline.wikia.com/wiki/Interrupt_Armor
Revenant currently has 3 trait lines, Half Life 3 confirmed.
A longbow that shoots longbows. It can be called ‘Bowception’.
