There is a reason the servers is full, have you ever asked your guild to consider a less popular servers i can recommend some with great communities and would appreciate your guild much more ie Blackgate, Tarnished Coast, Dragonbrand, Crystal Desert, Maguuma and Kaineng all of which can arrange times when they aren’t full and have a very competitive WvW enviroment. it seems like at the moment Jade Quarry is a victim of its own success where even Sea of Sorrows is able to put the server at very high status more effeciently then jade quarry.

This may be OK for WvW Guilds who have no server loyalty, but on behalf of those that have stuck by their server since the game went live and independants who belive in server loyalty? No thank you, leave my server alone.
Also, if you want a more competative WvW, you should tell the people on your server to stop trying to poach Guilds from the EU servers.

Well if your server is so tight knit you could obviously organize your players to join the same faction.

And who decides which servers get closed to fill up other servers? Some players actually have loyalty to the servers the are on, to punish them for glory seekers/server hoppers (delete the applicable) doesn’t seem fair to me

that is a fair point, however one solution could be make completely new server names in the end of the day everybody will have to choose a new server due to the “dynamic server cap”.

Welcome to my thread, you may be wondering what this is about and i will say this thread is about WvW at its current-future state and how we can rectify this problem.

First i will state the problem
At its current state World vs World is going into the direction where only about 5-7 servers will be viable and 1-2 servers viable for taking the throne in tier 1. With the announcement of the closing of free transfers every guild is flocking to servers they see fit and healthy often being the top servers and to be fair i don’t blame them. However WvW was not intended to be this way where you have say very limited variability within servers because everybody is rushing to a select few servers (my own included). Now you may be thinking this is just another kid who doesn’t want to see his server die, but as you can see in my tag i am from the most succesful server and i am not posting this in fear for my server but in fear for competitiveness and the game.

Now the boring problem is stated i will say what my vision for WvW is and i’m sure many others share my dream. My vision is that all servers will be roughly equally matched in server strength and competitiveness so say a tier 1 server could vs two tier 2 servers and have a fun match.

Now the solution, WvW at its current state is not working effectively the tier system and ranking system is not adding any depth so i am here to arhcitect a new system taking heavy inspiraton from sporting leagues. Which is only possible courtesy of the guesting system which essentially makes servers for PVE obselete and the only use for specific servers is WvW.

So now servers have become your “faction” and for this new match up system to work there would need to be a reduction in the number of servers to 15 competitive servers.
Where everybody will be booted from there current server and forced to join one of these competitive servers.
Taking from the Football league inspiration there will be seasons in which servers battle it out. There will be fixtures in which your server (faction) battles two other servers for one week, the winner gains 3 points the server which comes second gains 1 and the server which comes last doesn’t gain a point . The reason why the winner gains 3 instead of 2 is so servers play for first as taking first place is more rewarding then second place. In the end of the season where every combination of match up has been completed similar to sporting leagues the servers with the most points win.

Now you may be wondering who’s to say the current imbalance won’t come to this aswell only it will be excacerbated because the top servers will often come into combat with the bottom servers, and i answer this with why the current balance exists and why guilds all flock to more healthy servers, it’s due to the tier system. Where large guilds flock to play with more competitive servers now due to competition in this set up if it’s fixture matches every week everybody would generally be more spread out.

Now how server transfers will work is also heavily influenced by the sporting league.
During the active season there will be paid transfers so no free transfers however when a season ends and a winner is decided before the next season there will be a 2 weeks to 1 month grace period where there will be free transfers and everyone can recruit.

So that’s all that i have thought of at the moment please feel free to post constructive feedback sorry for the long read.

I will advocate blackgate for any guilds looking for a competitive enviroment, blackgate fight hard and detirmined and with the new transfers Jade Quarry will be recieveing will be the true underdog of tier 1 so any guild looking for a nice solid server Blackgate should be for you. (unless your EU if you’re EU come to SoS =p)

To the people trying to recruit oceanics from IoJ, it’s a bit hard for us guys to move servers, we like to keep togethor so that we can PVE togethor so the thing is both IoJ and SoS have very stable oceanic pop’s which WON’T transfer so the only other option is for NA guilds to transfer to us, as was what happened with Sea of Sorrows.

Well how it would work is , green would be the loser from the higher tier blue is the server who stayed in the tier and red is the server who moved up from the last tier.

I just want to tell everyone that Sea of Sorrows no longer feels like a server anymore, it feels like one unified guild with many sub-guilds branching off it thanks to everyone who have made this possible with such effective communication between guilds.

Just putting my two cents in, say server A, B, C server A and B are extremely strong and server C is slightly weaker than A and B if i were server A or B i would focus each other as they pose more of a threat.

So Sea of Sorrows focusing on JQ more then SBI is only because JQ pose more of a threat to SoS than SBI.

Pretty sure SBI bullied BG as much as JQ did, btw the prophecy is coming true =P.

When SoS first entered tier 1 BG told us to win and they will come and join us now the time is near.

Okay lets stop with the server recruiting, to answer your question moving from T1 to T2 will actually is a scary period, either you can continue to fall (HoD) or you can settle in tier 2 for a while re-build your forces and have another crack at tier 1 (BG) just stay positive and focus on winning tier 2 and trust me it will feel like a much needed break compared to the constant onslaught of t1.

Here is a score update, sorry JQ’s score got clipped

WvW at its current state is feeling repetitive versing the same servers week in week out, what we need is something to just freshen things up and balance things in the same way.

What i am suggesting is a WvW tournanament essentially around twice a year there will be a tournament held one for NA one for EU for obvious reasons during this period if one decides to transfer servers they will be locked from WvW until the tournmanent is over. How this would work is there are currently 24 servers in each bracket these 24 servers will be split up randomly into 8 matches like the current system except the matches are random, the winner of the matchup will move up the server which comes second will stay and the loser will drop down.

Now there will be 9 servers, 8 intial victorious servers and the one who came in 2nd place in the closest margin to first and three matches the winners of these will move up the ones who come second will remain and the ones who lose will drop. from the losers there will be 9 servers 8 servers which lose and a server which came 2nd from the furthest margin from first , the servers which win will move up, second stay and third drop down. Now there are 6 servers remaining which came 2nd and weren’t in the closest or furthest margin from first, the server from these which wins will move up the servers which lose will drop down and the servers which place 2nd will remain.

Now there will be 5 rounds and the servers remaining on the top will fight it out to see who will be the champion of NA bracket and the champion of the EU bracket.

One problem which i know many people will be worried about is the balance of say a server like Sea of Sorrows facing Eradon terrace and Ferguson’s Crossing for the intial week yes there will be many problems like these however as the weeks progress and certain servers move up and certain servers move down this will correct its self.

The implementaion of WvW tournaments randomly within the year will keep WvW fresh and interesting and will prevent that draining feel of same repetitive match ups week in week out.

Maguuman here. It’s a toss up between Darkhaven and Fort Aspenwood. Darkhaven because we’ve had some kitten close matches with you, plus the guys that I talked to at our Fight Clubs were cool as kitten. Aspenwood, because because they were larger than us, but they still used tactics instead of zerging and auto attacking doors down like Crystal Desert and Sea of Sorrows.

Dragonbrand gets honorable mention.

And that’s why we haven’t lost in 11 weeks right? because we don’t use tactics, anyways i would like to re-vote if that’s possible take my vote towards Sanctum of Rall they have the lowest population out of tier 1 ,2 and the majority of tier 3 yet they fight with such tenacity and dedication.

From Sea of Sorrows i would reccomend Sanctum of Rall, they have arguably the strongest NA presence out of any server which means that Sanctum of Ralls strongest presence is stronger then any other servers, and they have great tactics and fighting spirit.

This could be interesting and if the community pushes for it, maybe we can get some Anet backing.

Sea of Sorrows and Isle of Janthir are both Unofficial oceanic servers.

Tier 1 through to tier 3 (NA) are all relatively full and all have very even battles.

PRX was on EB duty this week. They did a great job but you can’t expect people to actually believe that PRX is carrying SoS. Sea of Sorrows is carrying Sea of Sorrows. Go back to Blackgate and work on your tactics.

From Sea of Sorrows i would reccomend Isle of Janthir, they could really use some NA leadership presence to inspire the massive Oceanic force there, plus they seem quite laid back.

So, while he insults your night capping, he attempts to do the same.

If you’re going to misquote me at least try to get the quote right. I know it’s easier to lie and shmear someone’s reputation as opposed to telling the truth but make an effort.

I went to Gunnar’s Hold, a European server because I play during European prime as do you. I am sure you know that.

I have no problems with night capping, I just have zero interest in playing against it. I am not the only one as Desolation (European #1) has disintegrated this week and a quarter of the server has relocated.

I wish you all the best of luck in Tier 1 SoS but you’re not going to get any respect at all from SBI or JQ if you win. You beat on doors during your prime meanwhile SBI and JQ beat on each other during their prime. Very similar to how IoJ and SoR spent this entire week beating on each other.

You have a massive advantage that no other server has, it’s like steriods in baseball. No one respects Barry Bonds for hitting 74 home runs and no one will respect you for winning in Tier 1.

You do realize that IoJ’s primetime is Oceanic like ours is right? So in this case you were the ones who could be said Pvdooring but we did have a strong NA presence unlike IoJ which is pretty much solely oceanic and European.
