You gotta be there early, ever time I go there are a ton of people and we’ve killed him several times now. That’s the only tip I can give, or you could find taxi’s. Just don’t show up at the last moment because yes, everyone that cares is already in a full map or tried to get into one.
If you are going to use Xfire as proof, consider that it gives GW2 as 2048 hours/day and WoW as 6475 hours/day and WoW officially has 7.6 million subscribers.
7,600,000 X (2,048/6,476) = 2,403,458
So a very healthy population for GW2 indeed.
Unless Xfire is a completely bullkitten source that no one in their right mind should be using as proof in an argument.
You’re right with this one, if anything, this only shows Xfire is losing users. Guild Wars 2 has nothing to do with it. And to the OP do you really think certain employee’s at ArenaNet don’t get to hear about their active users monthly or quarterly from higher-ups? Players don’t need to ring the alarm, they will do so themselves when they find it neccesary. All you can do is provide feedback, but as stated above, due to the nature of LS1’s temporary content alot has been forgotten even though they did add a ton of stuff. If the first episode of LS2 is the ‘least’ they will add in each chapter there is no reason to complain about a lack of updates. The only thing you should voice your concerns about is the type of content, and even that seems to be enjoyed by a ton of people.
If you haven’t yet, check out the trailer for Origin of Madness, it’s clearly a dark voice talking about her. Whether it’s a dragon or a person.. who knows at this point, it are assumptions untill we find out more.

There are spiders in the real world who eat the male after they reproduce, there’s some gruesome things but that’s nature :P
The way I solve this problem for myself is by getting the actual stats from gear through stuff such as dungeons, wvw etc. That gear cannot be sold, this also includes karma armor/weapons. For alot of people it isn’t really a good solution as it would limit your ways of obtaining items, however, for me it has worked.
I don’t know if you are familiar with GOG, Steam, GMG etc. etc. These websites run sales up to 75-90% off tons of games a few times a year. You should realize that when the newness wears off people won’t be willing to pay as much for games anymore. You’ve basically ‘paid’ to be able to play the game early. Just about all products get price reductions over time. I guess you aren’t very familiar with businesses.
I’ve never found a precursor, and rarely get Exotics at all. However, when do people stop complaining about ‘marked’ accounts? It’s basic MATH, there is no boolean saying ‘screw them over? y/n’. You simply have a chance to get one, which is so small that it’s possible you will never get one even after 10.000 hours. Personally I stopped focussing on my legendary and right now I’m just levelling more chars, getting skins etc. Just playing. If I do ever come across one that would be awesome, but I’m not expecting to.
You can kill the trees in Arah path 4 during the priest of melandru, although it would probably be pretty tricky to lure the gorillas out of aggression range. The boss spawns the trees every 10-15 seconds.
I’d prefer if all gear would just allow stat change out of combat, but that would devalue legendaries so I don’t think they’d do that. However, having a scroll like this for exotics would be nice. Due to the way I play I doubt I’d use it myself, unless they are acc bound and rewarded in some way. Regardless, others would probably find this usefull. One thing I wish they’d have done is allow ascended to swap stats aswell, it takes alot to get that gear but you get stuck with the stat combo you picked for a looong time. Then again, they would probably feel like legendaries wouldn’t be special anymore as they would only have the exclusive skin that makes them different.
I agree with this, sometimes you just want to quickly find what was said about a certain subject on a thread-basis. They could simply add the ability to click on the Anet logo in the thread list or inside the thread to jump to the next response.
Counting the people in my guild, the majority of them are still active (about 60-70%) going by the ‘last login’ dates. It’s really easy to come back to the game every now and then, although there are also alot of people on my friendslist that I haven’t seen in a year (but may have logged in when I was not). I think the game is still doing fine, the new content is really nice and what I was hoping they’d do from the start so I will stick around for a while at least. And when I do take a break, like I’ve done multiple times.. it’s likely I will come back anyway.
Personally I’m fine with not being the centre of attention, Taima already recocnized my Asura’s knowledge in the Snaff golemancy contest and even offered him to become a coauthor about Scarlet. If you want to be in the centre of attention there are many games out there that do that, because they don’t have to deal with thousands of different people in the same game and story at the same time. There is only so much they can do with their resources. Your character has been getting involved alot in this investigation but you are part of a group, not some allmighty hero that can do everything nobody else can like thousands of other stories told through games.
I didn’t track time, it was just an estimate. Plus none of us had done the Arah path before so it took a bit longer.
I think this is just an example of story vs gameplay. They gave characters certain skills because they felt it would be balanced and interesting, without overwhelming us with options and to be honest, somewhat useless skills. Conjuring a bone bridge out of nowhere barely has any use in combat and teleporting like that would be unfair for other classes. I think you should look at the characters as something seperate here, there have been characters in the story that can do things no player can. This is purely a result of gameplay restrictions and I’m fine with the way they do it to be honest.
i still wouldnt mind a three week schedule instead mainly cause there still seems a lot i want to do
Yes, that was an issue people had in season 1. Although unlike in season 1 you can still play it even when the next release comes out. So for people who are unable to keep up with everything entirely you will actually have content to play through at all times. I think that’s quite a good thing. Keeping up with the main story doesn’t take that long and you can come back to do extra things at any time.
Yet there have been two seemingly corrupted or ‘unchained’ (however you want to look at it regarding speculation) sylvari in the story recently. That being Scarlet and Aerin. If they were to add a sylvari to the investigation group he/she may end up with the same fate as there is something powerfull at work here by the looks of it.
Just yesterday I did Arah Path 1 for the first time with a group of whom nobody did that path before. We finished it after about 2+ hours, however Arah has a reputation for being long and somewhat harder than common farmed dungeon paths. But this shows that even random people can do such dungeons. For a starter to get back into dungeons it would probably be the best to do Citadel of Flame path 1 or 2, Ascalon, Twilight arbor or Sorrow’s Embrace path 1 or 3. These are all fairly short and not that difficult. Then once you are getting a better hang of it or simply want to do a bigger dungeon you can do the Aetherblade path in Twilight Arbor, or Arah.. etc. Honor of the Waves dungeon is also not that hard to do with random people.
A few things in dungeons have actually been changed, one of the Twilight Arbor paths was completely replaced by a much nicer path (the Aetherblade path). Citadel of Flame has had various small changes (mostly against farming and exploits). Ascalon has had alot of the bosses slightly changed or reworked completely. Sorrow’s Embrace also had paths changed. I can’t speak for the other dungeons though as I don’t remember if they changed them over the 2 years.

I hadn’t done dungeons for a long time, however yesterday I did 3 AC paths, 1 SE path and 1 Arah path and ended up with 15 gold. That’s maybe 6 hours (Arah took a while) to get 15/100 runestones. Do you have the precursor etc? Because you’re in for a surprise since the runestones are more of the easy part of a legendary nowadays.
I think having some environmental hazards would be nice, or simply more realistic nights in some zones. Perhaps if they add something like a light-source back item made specifically for these things, such as a torch etc could also help in the dark caves we have in some places of the game. One of them is in Dry Top where you can grab a torch and also in the wvw puzzle. Replacing the item kit with a back item or something else would allow players to still fight normally, except in a dark cavern or night. However, weather that slows people down and deals damage is probably not such a good idea because it would just become an annoyance if you play a game for so long. They could add the audio/visual effects, perhaps even the water fields you mention during heavy rain. That way it would be more of an added thing rather than a win/loss situation.
On another note, to reduce lag issues they could perhaps add an option to hide weather effects for people with non-gaming PC’s.
I must say I would rather see them increase the required stack size and at least give a guaranteed geode once you open that (for example, 50 sand instead of 10). That way you feel like you’re at least clicking for a reason. I’ve opened a huge amount and barely got anything, not that I farmed for it. But it’s still the same thought.
As a warrior you can get a stance which gives stability, you can use Shake It Off to get back on your feet after being knocked down. Endurance regen signet allows you to dodge twice (essentially making you get hit just once every time he does his pattern). You can also use your shield to block two of his hits. I heard from others that you can avoid it by jumping but I have no idea if that’s actually true. He also appears to be immume to certain ranged dmg, that is probably why your mesmer copies didn’t do damage.
Sounds like a good idea to me, if someone swaps maps then it could just appear automatically when it’s equipped. It could even be integrated into the wardrobe system where you can swap one easily even when you aren’t at the bank.
I have rarely used my minis because I always deposit them unintentionally and I pretty much always forgot to put them out.
The waypoints are made by the Asura if I’m not mistaken, which use ‘magic technology’. It could be that the vines are attempting to drain magic from the waypoint machinery? That’s a nice detail, I hadn’t noticed it myself but I will check it out later.
When you enter the room that the final battle takes place in, go to the right side where you will find a ramp along with sand falling down. If you have a ranged weapon you can easily kill him from there while avoiding his bombs. If he teleports to the platforms out of range just hop to the central platform and attack. When he comes back you return to the ramp. Once his orange glow shield comes up again, target him, grab an orange crystal and charge at him to break it.
I’ve also died on my warrior on a few occasions because as many know they have a Vengeance trait which allows you to survive by killing an enemy in the short time you’re back on your feet. I noticed that alot of the vine monsters don’t trigger this effect. One example is the veteran vine event just a few jumps into Dry Top. I don’t really mind if some monsters don’t give loot or experience but if a monster has a certain amount of health it should at least give the player a chance to activate trait effects (or Vengeance) for killing it.
The new tracks for Dry Top are really nice, I hope there will be plenty more this season :P
This definetely demonstrates that they are capable of improving upon the previous season. I really liked the story bits aswell. The little extra in Scarlet's house with the holograph was also nice, it really ties a few mysteries together that were speculated about in the past. The sandstorm, quicksand.. dark caves. We need more of that. And they didn’t forget to add a JP to the zone
If you look at the map it would suggest it is bigger than what we can see right now. In pretty much all the zones the ‘Level xx’ is in the middle, while here it’s more to the bottom left indicating there should be more in the west/south sections of the map. The top left section also seems to be hidden (or maybe I just missed a secret passage?). I think that they will expand Dry Tops but considering where the story is going (corruption from something underground etc) we will 100% sure get at least another zone, if not more.
I’ve got over a 1000 hours in this game and 2 giants credited, one from the Charr area and one from that cave in the highlands. I think the best solution would be to mark the risen giants as giants, since those do get killed quite often. But I think these type of achievements are at the bottom of priority for ArenaNet (to fix them that is). Just enjoy the rest of the game, perhaps they will change achievements in 1 big chunk at some point to fix the crazy ones such as this one and the WvW ones.
In the previous season the non-race-specific capital hub was destroyed but it’s being rebuilt at the moment, some other zones saw changes aswell over the course of many months. It shouldn’t really affect you at all. The new season will likely change some small things in Brisban Wildlands and then add new maps over time.
It’s from the old LFG system, just type /lfg in chat and it will put it above your head.
It could be the one that also plays during Boss Blitz boss battles (it’s a common ‘Legendary’ boss soundtrack) or it could be http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trAzl6aF8J4 I haven’t been able to find the titles of both of these tracks though.
Just found this which may be it:

I agree you can recocnize Jeremy’s tracks quite easily. Some tracks in GW2 sound almost exactly like a few he did for Skyrim. I actually mixed some up myself a few times. I do like his music, but he definetely has a distinct style.
The newer tracks that were made for the living story aren’t made by him but they fit right in the game and this teaser sounded really nice. I wish they would remake and patch all the soundtracks in the game to an orchestrated version rather than the current digital tracks.
From previous patches you should expect it around 24+ hours from the time I post this.
Wait, what? No more Jeremy Soule?
I don’t have the time right now to watch an hour long video. Would someone be able to tell me where to jump in the video when I get more time, or summarize why he’s not doing the music for the game anymore?
It’s because they have been doing living story releases which happen constantly. By making the music themselves they can communicate much easier and Jeremy Soule’s contract had also ended when the game released. They don’t exclude a possibility of him working for ArenaNet again in the future but they have no plans for it. Although that stream is 8 months old by now (check around the 21st minute or so, right when the SAB music ends).
I think posts like these are the reason they didn’t put a roadmap up like last time, people take the list as if it’s set in stone the moment they read about it. They have already implemented alot of requested features etc, it’s just a matter of time. They aren’t as big as Blizzard or something so they have to push certain things further down the list.
They usually patch after 6 PM UK time so you still have at least 25-26 hours to go. Goodluck :P
Why not just wait and see for yourself tomorrow? As for the music, I think the team has been doing a great job with this game. There are a rare amount of games out there (in my opinion) that have the quality of soundtracks that GW2 has. Oh and about Pokémon, it’s actually common knowledge among players that many around age 18-25 play those games. Heck, I do too, great games tbh. I’m glad that we will be getting new zones in season 2, I’m looking forward to it as my summer conveniently starts tomorrow aswell.
I just took another look at the trailer, there appear to be 4 small devourers at the giant one, not 3 :P. There is also bamboo on the floor when they show the group and the portal. The boar at the end isn’t really that big, there’s an asian character on the zephyr ship at the start. The golem is obviously Inquest and the scene where Braham jumps at the golem you can see purple glow on the vines, corruption perhaps?
I’m sure they will eventually do something about it, it’s more a matter of when (I hope). I don’t have it either and I don’t really mind, but I can imagine for someone that really wants it it’s a thorn in the eye :P
I like that the devs aren’t afraid of a ‘little’ destruction such as the tower and LA. I hope we will see more of these things because it makes your battles more meaningfull.
From how I’ve seen them they look more like buddies that look after eachother, friends, but definetely no love interests. I think it’s nice to just have a group of characters that act as compagnions rather than turning everything into love and drama. There are already 2 characters for that in this group of characters. Depending on how many story seasons we are getting I’d imagine they can bond quite alot story-wise.
I love this soundtrack aswell, I believe Jeremy also did the soundtracks for the elder scrolls if I’m not mistaken. GW2 has one of the best soundtracks in games in my opinion.

From what I read in the new blogpost this seems like a really good solution to the Season 1 LS problem. At least people that log in once every 2 weeks can then play all the content whenever they want. Really good job on that. I’ll look forward to see what happens this summer.
I agree that there should be more options, allow people to finish their daily by truely doing what they want to do. The only way to accomplish that is by giving the amount of options we had previously as a minimum (so basically the old pvp + pve daily combined or more would be even better).
Something I noticed almost immediately is that there is alot of clicking involved at the hero panel now. Instead of having a ‘back’ button when you are in the equipment menu I’d suggest you use 3 icons next to eachother to quickly swap from Equipment to Wardrobe to Dyeing. That way people won’t have to click on ‘back’ and then on the corresponding menu they want to use. If you position the icons next to eachother there should still be enough room to keep the dropdown menus for gear/dye etc on the left side of the character. It’s mostly a convenience thing but smooth UI can really add to the feel of the system.
For the wardrobe I’d like to see a ‘favourites’ section (if there already is one, disregard this.. I may have missed that if so). That way people can favourite some skins and won’t have to search the whole wardrobe if they want to re-acquire certain looks. Perhaps this can also be expanded into equipment looks as entire sets. Allowing people to save up a few looks (including dye setup?) so they can just click on that, transmute and then all the gear that changes looks would transmute at once.
I’ve struggled with finding good boots for my Charr and Asuran characters since the beginning of the game, I would definetely like to have a hide boots option. Asura tend to have their toes sticking through cut-outs, just like Charr have with their claws. People that do want to wear boots can keep on doing so and those that prefer to be a bit more primal on those races can do so, while still remaining at maximum combat efficiency.
I liked Halloween for the community feel it gave so close to launch and the fun minigames and obviously the infamous clocktower.
Wintersday is comparable to Halloween, also again had a great jumping puzzle.
Super Adventure box (both times, obviously) because I love platformers and having the ability to find secret stuff, even if it’s limited.
Southsun (although horribly laggy, the idea was definetely very nice) for providing a new zone which sadly did end up not living up to it’s potential.
Crown Pavillion as I enjoy challenging myself, something which is still not that big in this game and that may be a good thing in it’s own right. It was also quite interesting to see other players tackle monsters and running through the bosses in the lower area for the first time.
I also did enjoy the bazaar but that really wasn’t very content related apart from the nice minigame and the platforming (see SAB). The bazaar really could use something more that’s actual content rather than having to chase achievements by doing things we always did before.
For Flame and Frost the content was spread way too thin, which has been improved quite a bit now. I missed out on doing the actual dungeon so I can’t give a proper opinion on it as the first few bits were really small.
I didn’t enjoy Dragon Bash very much because it was mostly based on grinding for achievements and the dragon ball minigame was something that didn’t fit my taste. Due to Dragon bash not being very enjoyable for me and the fact I wasn’t spending much time on GW2 at the time I missed the entire sky pirate event.
The dragon boss week was alright, the idea is really good, however my server still hasn’t killed Tequatl at this point and I really do not feel like trying him anymore. I don’t have the time to keep at it and there is no scaling for smaller groups. I do think the mechanics are definetely more interesting than the other world bosses.
As for the current TA path update, I did the dungeon once so far and got myself the living story meta achievement in that same run. I have to say that being able to complete the meta like this took away all the pressure that previous events had, the same was with the boss week events. I could simply complete a few and then decide what to do with the rest of my time without missing out on temporary content. This is in my opinion a very good thing, obviously it’s also tied to these things being permanent content. As for the actual content of the dungeon, while I do find it odd that the aetherblades can have a whole base of operations in a nightmare court infested area, the dungeon felt very enjoyable. There were alot of creative dungeon mechanics that I felt were missing in just about every other dungeon path (or simply a lack of more than 1 mechanic per area/boss). If this dungeon path update is any indication of future quality improvements then I’m very positive. The way the story was told was quite interesting and from all the mechanics to the actual art of the dungeon, to the cinematics and the bonus events.. It’s all round probably my favourite dungeon path so far. It’s simply the best quality dungeon in the game, even more so than fractals which was a huge improvement back then. If there is one thing that I might say about the path is that I wouldn’t mind if it was slightly smaller, at least future dungeon paths. It took me about 90 minutes (while we weren’t perfect and even got a few optional achievements) which is fairly long. I do enjoy a 30min run and I personally think that is a sweet spot for many.
I think it shouldn’t be actual punishment for failing, but rather change the nearby area with new events to clean up the monsters. Like you said, lock out the boss respawn untill they are finished. However, because this game should still be playable for everyone at different times it will always be a big challenge to get real impacting events into the game. If you add such things in a low lvl zone you effectively block someone’s levelling progress in the zone if there are POI/hearts etc in said zone. However, they could do these things in new 80-only zones and have an entire zone change depending on the tide of battle because people won’t be levelling there anymore.
