Strange reward for first chapter of Episode 5

well, that sounds on par for … loot.

you get other stuff and bags together with that rune or sigil bag.. wouldn call it “unfair” or weak loot

Yea all the other rewards were quite good, the globs, rares, new skin etc. It’s just those minor bags that felt out of place.

They also added alot of background noise in the base that makes it feel like stuff is actually going on, all the npc’s walking about etc. You can also talk to quite alot of them, even if it’s just small talk. I feel like they have been one-upping themselves compared to the older episodes. Even the difference between Dry Top, which is a cool zone in itself shows they have learned.

By just reading how MChuzzlewit did it I’m assuming that there must be some other trick to it, because that sounds more like an exploit than ‘working as intended’. Perhaps this instance will get another patch soon.

Edit: Just read a response from Colin in another thread, it seems that it will be looked into and the NPC’s should be invulnerable untill you get near.

I didn’t notice anything regarding Scarlet, although I did see some cool stuff such as a worm from the Jade Sea (still encased in it), a giant dragon tail (perhaps from Zhaitan, can’t be sure). And ofcourse a bunch of mirrors, vases, crystals etc. The whole opening of the vault was also pretty cool. At one of the sides of the central room you can see holograms, perhaps those are from Scarlet.

Strange reward for first chapter of Episode 5

in Living World

Lethalvriend.1723

I don’t know if this is normal and whether others received this, but when I completed the first chapter of episode 5 I had the option to choose between a bag of minor runes or a bag of minor sigils. Considering this is level 80 content I feel that getting a bag of minor runes or sigils is a bit strange. Level 80s tend to only use major or superior runes/sigils, perhaps this was an error on the dev’s part? Did you guys also receive a minor bag?

Will level cap raise?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lethalvriend.1723

Lethalvriend.1723

I don’t see any reason to increase the level cap. All content they can add could have been added as level 1 if it was up to me. Level gating is usefull to prevent newbies from going to wrong places but other than that I see it as nothing but a time-drain in games without any benefits. Many games use the excuse of ‘but new zones and skills’ even though they can be introduced without a level cap raise. I think if people want to do the stuff they will do so without a level cap raise. It worked for Dry Top as a zone aswell. With the new wardrobe system I also prefer a lower level cap so I can reach it faster as I don’t customize my characters untill level 80 now (due to transmute charge changes, which are good still but have this as a side effect). I also think that there are a ton of players in GW2 that don’t take the game like a regular MMO and thus would not want their work to be nullified by an arbitrary number increase.

In Guild Wars 2 I make use of my simple 2 button mouse + scrollwheel, ideally I’d use a mouse with more buttons but I have been using this mouse for 6+ years now and it works just fine. To make buttons easily accessible I have bound my skills as follows:

W – Forward
A – Strafe Left
S – Backwards
D – Strafe Right

Q – Weapon skill 1
E – Weapon skill 2
R – Weapon skill 3
T – Weapon skill 4
Z – Weapon skill 5

1 – Healing skill
2 – Utility 1
3 – Utility 2
4 – Utility 5
X – Elite

If you are using a QWERTY layout keyboard you will notice that all these keys are right near eachother. That way it’s alot easier to press the keys than having them placed all over the keyboard (such as with old school games). I think the only way you can get used to it is by just trying it for a period. I’ve been gaming for years now so it is natural for me, but when I started I had to get used to it aswell.

That marking translation does look very possible, and it also means that the whole ’Zhaitan’s death’ and ‘orb crushing into the middle’ does add up. Alot of people were thinking the green one would be Mordremoth but that wouldn’t make any sense. I do wonder what we will find out in these episodes because obviously something bad is going on precisely because Zhaitan was defeated.

Recipe safeguarding suggestion

Lethalvriend.1723

I’ve seen another suggestion before which I am definetely a supporter of. Basically what they could do is have bought-recipes unlock on all of your characters. That way you won’t lose the recipes you buy and unlock. Discoveries still remain locked for new characters so you can still level everything properly and voila, no more issues such as this either. They seem eager to go down this route when you look at the account wallet, wardrobe, finishers, minis etc. Perhaps they could extend the account bound system to recipes learned through purchased/found items.

You can go ahead and deny it’s because of GW2 but I think everyone with some knowledge regarding viruses will realize that either you had an outdated firewall and got infected by browsing. Can happen through java, flash, email etc. and especially when downloading software from a ton of places. Like others have already said, clean up your PC. The GW2 doesn’t infect you with viruses for one simple reason, the browser only connects to ANET and if you were infected through that there would be thousands of people with the same issue. Your own stubbornness will just leave you with potentially a compromised bank account, a compromised GW2 account and whatever else you use on that PC.

I really like the skin, a few months ago I was checking out weapon possibilities for my thief and I really wanted to use this skin but I couldn’t find any information about it anywhere. Now it’s here, although a bit too expensive for me to get it right now it is something I will try to get at some point. I am also the type of person that doesn’t really like the over the top flashy stuff. My warrior is geared in realistic armor, weaponry and a shield and so is my thief.

This IS insulting.

Lethalvriend.1723

I am the type of person that doesn’t mind getting all such features available quite early, however.. look at it a different way. Maybe they are setting up things to reduce the level cap? It already looks quite alot like ‘why do I need levels 31-34 if I get the meaty stuff at 30 and 35?’. Now I’m personally a type of person that could play games without levels as I have done so before, but consolidating the levels to a ‘more effort for 1 level, but a reward at each level’ would be a good thing in my book. I can be completely wrong ofcourse since it would be a massive change, but one can always hope.

Are you excited for the Feature Pack?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lethalvriend.1723

From what I’ve seen about the patch it looks really good, the way they updated the combat log for PvP-ers, the Trade post which has always been a hassle for me since launch, more uniform character UI with the miniature unlocks etc (and you can now easily use a mini which would promote everyone to use one if they wish). More achievement rewards for collectors, finally multi-server guild support (no more split) and a bunch of other polishing features. If you look at the bigger picture what’s happening here with feature pack 1 and 2 is that they are setting up systems that can be easily expanded, such as the wardrobe and now achievement improvements, minipets etc. I hope they will keep on doing these patches because this is the kind of stuff that may not seem big at first but just you wait a year and look back, you’ll notice it are all quite significant changes.

Omadds Machine Cinematic. Item to rewatch it?

in Living World

Posted by: Lethalvriend.1723

Lethalvriend.1723

I think they should add a button at the living story journal to rewatch the cinematics to be honest. An item is just inconvenient and takes up bag/bank slots. If they added a simple button to the living story UI it would remove the need to make new items constantly. The advantage to this is that they could easily add the personal story cinematics that way aswell. They could even just add a single tab of all unlocked cinematics somewhere in the story journal.

There are many portals around like this, I also hope we’ll see them open up/used some day. Even if they change the way they are currently placed, as long as we can actually head in the direction some day I’m happy. With Dry Top added I can only hope it’s the tip of the mountain and more will follow. I really like exploring places, especially ruins etc. The details in Dry Top along with the sandstorms make that even better.

[Suggestion] Option to rearrange skill bar buttons

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Lethalvriend.1723

As someone that played quite hardcore pvp in a certain other game, going up to 50 custom keybinds back then (although admittedly, I will never go down that route again :P). I too was disappointed that you can’t move skills to different hotkeys. The way it is now, if you use 2 weapon sets with skills on certain buttons you can’t take the route of ‘just change the keybind’ because not only does it change the keybind on all your chars, you would have to do it in combat? Almost every single MMO I played allows people to swap their skills to different buttons. The OP isn’t asking for people to use sword skills on an axe etc, just to move the buttons around on a per-character basis. In many games I bind certain type of skills to certain keys, you can’t do that in GW2. Although I’ve accepted the way it is now, I still am a big pro to allowing players to swap their skills to different hotkey locations. They already use this for utility skills so it seems they have part of the backend work for it already. Most games tend to have this sort of thing turned off by default because it’s apparently too complex? But GW2 could do the same thing, keep it off by default and those who would like to use it can.

I don’t see why it shouldn’t affect your illusions? In PvP such effects do hit illusions so it’s harder for the enemy to see who the real person is. It just happens to work the same way in PvE. This is really not a bug, just a game mechanic.

Actually it does look like him, if you look closely the armor around his neck makes it look as if it’s his horn. Improve Trait unlocking - Simple guidelines

I think adding multiple options per trait unlock would also help alot, right now you either do X event or spend gold and skillpoints. What if you can choose between 3 events or activities instead? Either do a boss event, a jumping puzzle, maybe a dungeon etc. Having more than one way to obtain it without spending gold would probably make it alot more fun.

Some time ago he only spawned 3 portals, I did it back then but I assume people have to kill 13 within the time limit now. The only way I can see this happening is by asking guildies to help you with it when he is going to spawn or hoping people in map chat will cooperate when you ask them. You will need to put a few small groups at the portals before they spawn so they can be taken out easily as they have little HP.

Guaranteed zero rewards

Posted by: Lethalvriend.1723

Lethalvriend.1723

I think that the only way to get around the ’it’s no rewarding’ is by doing the Dry Top method and perhaps randomizing chest spawns in every single zone. If you make the reward account bound it cannot be exploited for profit. There will ALWAYS be complainers, always. But I think that upgrading the current chests to something like unique zone-skins for either weapons or armor could be really nice. If it really is too much to make it exclusive to exploring, perhaps those same rewards could also be added to one of the other reward systems.

What if the heir of Ascalon is meant symbolically? The heir being the one wielding both the blades? Surely having both of those rare magical weapons would prove one worthy of being a king. Perhaps Braham visits Eir to warn of the danger, but also finds out that the smith finished reconstructing the broken blade from the ghostly king? It would allow Rytlock to cleanse the land if Braham would bring it with him, probably realizing he’s seen the twin in Rytlock’s hand.

Moredremoth intends to conquer/kill dragons?

in Living World

Posted by: Lethalvriend.1723

Lethalvriend.1723

It could be that the dragons do compete for terrain if one grows stronger than the rest. Since there is so little known about them, perhaps this is what always happened in previous cycles. One dragon attempting to go out of control and causing agression between forces of nature. Why would Mordremoth care for his fellow dragons if he is meant to be a force of nature? Destruction can be done solely by him, he doesn’t need the other dragons. Then again, it could be that they are also joining together and that Mordremoth is attempting to contact the others directly.

Addressing a misconception about AP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Lethalvriend.1723

Lethalvriend.1723

AP is nothing more than an indicator of how many things a person has done and how LONG a person has been playing. Someone that does dailies/monthlies every time and did all the LS will have alot of points. Yet someone that just plays the game like a game will likely have far less points. Is there a difference in skill between those players? Who knows, AP most certainly doesn’t show that at all. I think the issue with AP-requirements that people ask in dungeon is that those people are just…. <you fill in the gap>. I have well over the commonly asked 3-5k points but I actively avoid groups asking such things because I just want to have fun. I can often carry people that are not fully geared and I don’t mind at all. The best thing you can do regarding this is to not join them and try to find likeminded people to add to your friendslist.

Blindness ... why is there duration?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Lethalvriend.1723

Lethalvriend.1723

I think you should also realize that blinding an enemy is more like throwing sand into their eyes or creating a big flash. None of that should create permanent damage to your sight so it wears off after a little. In real life you get teary eyes and your sight goes back to normal if you have sand in it etc. Then there’s the fact it has a duration for gameplay reasons, running around with a blind debuff on you untill you manually remove it is a bit annoying.

Dancing With Dragons: Improving Iconic Foes

in Living World

Posted by: Lethalvriend.1723

Lethalvriend.1723

I think it would actually be a good thing if the Pact is defeated somewhere, perhaps not against Mordremoth but while facing another threat/dragon. Completely disbanding the alliance, we’d need aid from somewhere else in that case though. Another thing I think may be really cool is if unlike Zhaitan where we attacked his turf, let one of the dragons attack us somewhere, I wouldn’t mind seeing an entire old zone become wrecked by a giant dragon that leads his army himself. Then again, I don’t know if that fits any of the dragon’s behavior/lore etc. I do think that having a setback when fighting the dragons would make the heroes feel mortal and real.

As for Arah, I do remember reading or hearing somewhere that it was finished only JUST on the very last day and that they had to scrap part of the initial idea (probably also explains why there is an unreachable POI in Arah with a name hinting at a dragon fight), just to get the game out there.

I’ve started doing the boss farm rotations for about a week now and I also noticed this, in some cases it’s happening very often such as the Golem MK II in Mount Maelstrom. In this case I move my camera away to keep my FPS acceptable and after a short period of time I lose my target.

During Tequatl, even if he is still fully on screen I lose my target constantly when I’m on a turret. It goes for basically everything that has a targetting circle on them, which are in most cases the big world bosses.

I tried it like 4 times today, the first time we just didnt really get what we were supposed to do. The second time we tried to ress and then sebd all the npcs back, didn’t work. However, I noticed 2 NPC’s had died right outside the cave and didn’t have a revive icon over them (I also noticed that one of the deaths took away the achiement buff). On the third try we saved everyone (or so we thought) but when we got to the lab it turned out one NPC did die as we checked the entire map again. On the last try we rescued everyone, checked the entire map multiple times and we were 100% certain there was no NPC in any tower, behind a hill or rock or at the water and we still didn’t get credit once we went to the lab (None of the NPC’s died at any point in this run). Then when I entered the lab I noticed something odd, there was a stack of dead NPC’s outside the playable map area (at the asura portal inside the lab cave). Whether that has anything to do with it or not I don’t know, but from what I can tell it’s either definetely bugged or the way it’s meant to be done is not properly explained.

I’ve seen one person act like that in my dungeons since the past month that I returned to the game. Someone mentioned a guardian on our team had 900 AP, the rest of the party including me then told him we don’t care and the guy left. After replacing him we all cleared the dungeon just fine. Now I wonder, how often have you encountered this issue? I also think it’s a stupid way to measure players and I never look at people’s AP myself. If it happened once, I’d say get over it and try again. If it happens more often, perhaps try to set up your own groups? Whenever you get through a dungeon with a good group, ask if they would mind if you add them. You can always ask those people if they want to join a dungeon with you later.

@mulzi From what I can tell this isn’t the majority. I would really recommend you to just advertise your own party or try map chat etc. It may still happen on occasion but I doubt it’s as widespread as it may sound.

Have you tried getting one of the new weapon skins? If that’s not your thing, did you kill the giant or maybe went to catch a chicken from the chickenado? In this episode the legendary Llama can be found once again, in a totally different place aswell. I’m still going to enjoy the new area for a while, but the thing is. You can still do other content even if you have finished the story.
