I don’t really have many miniatures I like but the one I always use on my necro is that Colocl (or whatever it’s called). The dog/demon like animal with two spikes coming from it’s back (looks like griffin wings with it’s feathers plucked out). You can find those in Harathi and Dry Top.
You can relist your buy order without any cost. All it takes is a bit of time, but why should you be the one to get the item first if someone else is willing to pay more? I think the current system works as intended and I am fine with it.
There is only one way to stop them and that’s by having all GW2 players stop buying gold from third parties..
Its a typical Anet.
It also only gives 3 AP. Something like this should give at least 10 if not 20 AP.
Nearly all achievements since HoT give very little AP. You can see the trend if you look through older achievements and the ones you get from HoT (and those added after).
They should just make it so you can optionally repeat a recipe in the mystic forge if you have the materials.
This has been suggested so many times even at release… I think it has low priority at the moment, it’s probably on their enormous ‘to do at some point’ list.
I think it could be even cooler if you could simply unlock the effect sort of as an extra bit of customization. That way you avoid the whole ‘the stats aren’t good enough’ and the issue with the raid infusions that only gave +5 or something.
Cat Mail carrier?
Heart quests -.- I hope that’s wrong… I guess we’ll find out. At first I thought we would be brought in the direction of southsun after the 3rd map was revealed as it would be close to where Mordremoth died (=magic flowing out). Ring of Fire islands makes sense and it’s pretty cool they are actually releasing maps fairly regularly now (if this is true ofc).
I guess most players are like me, they stash their coins for months and months untill the pile is too big to auto deposit. I rarely use them to craft, but because they are timegated I often prefer to hold onto them untill I do need them. Right now is a good time to sell them ofcourse but for the reason I stated above I am not surprised with the statement that there are more coming in than going out.
I’ve got the upgraded version too, I recall something retroactively unlocking previous skins but I don’t remember what it was. But the Mad Memoroire backpack is literally only available if you at one point had the first version so I think that there is no reason not to unlock it if anyone has the flaming version…
It’s still possible but organizing it is probably more difficult now. Back around the launch of HoT it was actually very easy to accomplish once people figured out how to do it. I got all my boxes within a few days when that happened. You have to start taxi-ing people as soon as the cycle resets so you have enough time to bring people in for the event chains and to make sure your map is full by the time night arrives. The trick is to either use mentor or commander tags at each camp and let those individuals sort out grouping. With 3-5 at each camp you can easily finish a night run with T4. I’m not sure how nerfed it is now but back then you had to kill all 5 which is very doable with a full map.
I’ve played WoW for years, but I grew into it from Warcraft 1, 2 and 3 so I was interested in the world already. I can see why you’d feel intimidated though.. the game has been running for ages.
As for why I play GW2 can be explained in a simple manner. It’s one of the most user-friendly MMO’s out there at the moment.
It’s buy to play, a huge plus for me. I simply cannot afford a sub right now and the amount of p2w games out there just aren’t worth my time. Gold/Gem conversion also helps a ton as I can still get gemstore perks without having to spend a large sum of money.
You only have optional gear grind (Legendaries/ascended) so even though my chars have been running in exotics for the most part (although my Warr earned his full ascended armor/trinkets ages ago) I can do just about anything I want in the game.
The event system beats traditional questing for me, every time I’ve tried other MMO’s or went back to something I used to play the quest dialogues just feel like they slow you down.
The way rewards are structured is also quite nice, it barely matters what you do, you’ll always earn money or items that will make you money or other useful items such as skins. Nearly all content is relevant so it doesn’t feel like you’re wasting your time doing stuff that would be useless in other games (due to low level or whatever it is you’re doing).
When I first tried out GW2 as I’d heard about it through youtube and a few websites I frequent I really liked the idea behind the game. Which is in my opinion still being honored (play how you want is still very relevant even though it doesn’t apply to all content).
Jumping puzzles. Enough said, they were fun the first time and I still do some occasionally when exploring maps. A shame Bloodstone Fen didn’t get one but it’s understandable :P (Josh, you better work on a SW 2.0 jumping puzzle in the expac or future LS maps).
Map design since post-launch has also been amazing for an MMO. I know many hate the HoT maps but in my opinion they are the best maps I’ve ever seen in an MMO (layout, secrets etc.).
There are loads of other things that make me play this and have me come back to the game but it’s too much to list.

I think an option for this could be nice for people with low-end pc’s. That way the game won’t have to render additional models and at the same time solves a bit of the visual clutter/immersion breaking. I am not too bothered by backpacks, I do find the wings to be ‘meh’ whenever I see one. They could simply make it so you can hide the look for everyone outside your party so you can still see it on friends or something.
If they do add a rune/sigil library I really hope it won’t be given insane prices. I do think a drain for major runes/sigils should remain, but depending on that library tuning it could stay with upgrading to superiors.
They are still working hard on WvW. I believe the Desert Borderlands and Alpine borderlands are both available at all times now (depending on which map you are on, could actually be a hint that there will be a 3rd map added in the next expac? Who knows). They have been experimenting with repair tools and a bunch of other things. I’m not really a WvW player though so someone else might be able to give you more info regarding that.
PvE has received it’s first Living Story season 3 episode that includes a small new map. There have been a bunch of changes to HoT reward distribution (idk if that was before or after April though).
PvP seasons are still ongoing and I believe they are working on changing the matchmaking for it. Oh and there’s a new PvP map in BETA (a different version of Capricorn with a completely new layout).
Oh and on top of that there are a bunch of events spread over old maps that are tied to Living Story and function sort of as a build-up to what’s coming. The old events are still there (from before season 3 launched) so you can do all of them right now. The newest is in Earthshatter waypoint at frostgorge.
Legendary runes and sigils would pretty much solve the problem. Getting ascended trinkets isn’t that difficult nowadays as getting Laurels just takes a bit of time (which many have saved up anyway). If they ever introduce legendary runes and sigils that would be awesome.. totally for it. I think they should simply be legendary due to stat-swap capabilities and don’t add some weird shiny effects to them.
HoT maps are still my very favourites when it comes to their designs and layout. I really really hope we will still get more complex maps in the future. Not all of them have to be this way, but it’s alot more fun to explore a map if it’s not just flat with a few hills and small caves every now and then.
They should add a personal timer on those chests that reset after maybe 15+ minutes or something. That way it would not be worth it to farm it extensively and you’d still be able to play those maps the normal way without missing out on loot (perhapse some edge cases where it happens.. but not much harm would be done there).
Then again, you can’t fix toxic people. It’s the person behind the computer that’s the problem. AB just gives them a reason to show it.
All maps in the game (overworld maps anyway) have at least 1 jumping puzzle. With the exception of Dragon’s Stand and now Bloodstone Fen. The puzzles are now categorized under the map achievement tab. I think that makes it easier to find where you should look for a puzzle. I wish old maps were as detailed and had all hearts replaced with interesting events… then they could add map currencies for those too. But that’s me dreaming lol.
I think the gifts are fine, even though it’s unlikely I’ll ever use the level-up scrolls (doubt I’ll start keyfarming anytime soon :P). I also have the problem of not wanting to use the dyes in case I ever want a specific one, but I ended up using my first 4th year dye box anyway because I found a nice Mad King dye. I already expected skins to be account-wide unlocks though as they require some more work to add. It’s understandable they don’t want to put too much resources on the birthdays. They are just small gifts to say thanks after all. It would be cool to get some gems for the 5th birthday hint hint.. as that takes quite some dedication to stick with a game that long :P
Oh forgot to mention… I STILL have 2 seperate lvl 20 exp scroll stacks that don’t stack together… I’m not sure how to fix that :/
I do like the map, the only thing that actually bothers me is the way mobs can knock you down or transform you from insane ranges.. I hate mechanics like that and no matter what excuse.. I’ll never enjoy them. Apart from that, it’s the only non-instance map that has no jumping puzzle as far as I know (well.. I think the desert borderlands has none either because of how it affected EB).
Things I do like is the amount of ways you can fly all over the place, lore and aerial combat. I think it was also nice that they added a Vale Guardian in there. The alien location isn’t really my thing (bright unnatural place) but hey, that’s my human instinct loving caves, forests and mountains so no harm done there :P If this is an indication for what’s to come this will definetely be the best LS season yet.
I like that there are no hearts in high level maps and I wish they wouldn’t exist even in ~lvl 50+ maps. There are a few decent hearts but nearly all of them are just pretty boring tasks to complete with a few extreme ones becoming very hard to complete during certain event stages (due to lack of available tasks i.e. mobs don’t spawn due to event capturing).
The thing that I like about the maps they added later on is that you can go in and decide what you want to do. You don’t have to complete every single event to get 100% map completion or all you rewards, you can just go in and do what you want. Hearts are a type of mechanic that I can understand helps new players, but as soon as you’re past that they become tedious.
I only do hearts because I do want to get 100% map completion on all my characters at some point. If I didn’t care for it I would have stopped doing hearts years ago. Once you are an experienced player the only thing hearts do is fill up a spot on a checklist.
Here’s what I think, Living story season 3 came out so many players returned to the game. Many people are infected with keyloggers or had been phished before so those accounts now got stolen. Hence the increase in goldseller spam, because there are more accounts being stolen. But it’s just what I think, only Anet will know what’s really going on.
Maybe it’s a hint about Marjory secretly consuming letters…
Nothing has been said about this confirming one way or another. But I think we can probably expect central tyria masteries to be expanded upon over time along with new expansion masteries. I doubt HoT will receive more masteries after the next Expac hits though.
I think there are now like 4 books ingame (that you can collect as items), perhaps they are working on a book UI of sorts… who knows. It would be nice if they finally added a proper codex where you simply unlock these stories.
After I realized you had to drain through the shield I got past the elementals but on the boss fight the ‘drain’ effect simply vanished each time I got far enough so that she would move through it.. can’t finish the instance like this.
Season 1 consisted of patches every few weeks (around 2012-2013ish) that progressed a story that took place after the personal story. These added new events/instances/boss fights. That content was all temporary and is currently not in the game, apart from the special dungeon path in Twilight Arbor.
Season 2 consisted of 8 episodes and they included 2 new maps (Drytop and Silverwastes). Those 8 episodes can still be bought and played today (but were free unlocks if you logged in while they were in their release period) as they play out in those maps (and some old ones) and in instances. They changed to this format because many people felt very pressured to play through season 1 content (which usually lasted for 2 weeks only with limited achievements/rewards such as skins). While season 2 rolled out small hints were added in the weeks between episodes, in that case it were vines that started popping up around waypoints and some other small details. This story was a setup leading to Heart of Thorns.
With season 3 we are sticking to a format similar to season 3, if you log in during the release period of each episode you unlock them for your account permanently. Because the release cycle will be different it’s likely that there will be new episodes every 2-3 months, but with much more content in each update. You will need to have Heart of Thorns to play them, but don’t need to have it to unlock them (in case you buy Heart of Thorns later you’d be able to access them instantly if unlocked). This story will be playing out after the Heart of Thorns story and likely will set up the next expansion. As of now nobody knows exactly how big this season will be and how many episodes there will be.
As with previous living story seasons the game ended up getting a few new soundtracks (for boss fights, maps or otherwise). Anyone else looking forward to hearing some new music? Ever since they started to do inhouse tracks there has been quite some variety in new music coming into the game so I hope we won’t be disappointed. I doubt we will be :P
I’m pretty sure the hole is in Lake Doric, there has been a recent map completion bug where DR would give you Lake Doric completion. That lake is positioned north of DR and in the trailer you can see what looks like waves surrounding the red ring and storm.
I just looked at the trailer video from WoodenPotatoes and I noticed a few things he didn’t touch upon. For example, the shot where you see leyline energy and red energy (bloodstone magic I assume) enter some weird central point in a leyline cave you can see a tropical plant in the background. I think this cave will be placed below the 3rd raid wing, above Verdant Brink.
Another thing in that same shot (which might just be my imagination) is that it almost looks as if there is a magical being inside that spot, you can see what seems like 2 arms with hands that are not moving, even though in the shot all the rest of the magic is moving about.
Then further on you see a huge shot of the airship and the red ring in the terrain, I’ve heard people say maybe it’s x y z place. But if you look closely… it’s water. The ring is surrounded by waves. I think the bug with Lake Doric map completion that’s been going about pretty much strongly suggests that this hole will be in that new map.
If you want to help them, buy gems. They had questions about merchandise some time ago so I assume they want to get something onto the market. But why should they use an external website for this when people can already pay to them directly? Some of the things listed aren’t even what they stand for when it comes to gemstore convenience (faster gathering rate for example). With the gemstore you can even decide how much you want to pay them and when you want to do it.
There have always been 8 bag slots, for a total of 8×20=160 inventory slots. As Danikat said, the only new slots are a few inventory slots that are account-wide (but that are like 5 I believe, bringing it up to 165).
Since the past few weeks I’ve been busy IRL so haven’t been playing but I was looking forward to what’s to come in 2016. And then I find this.
700 gems for 1 inventory slot that’s shared on your account… This is the reason I never spend money on microtransactions in games. The people that come up with pricings for these things are just the embodiment of greed. It’s good that people can at least choose to use gold but it seems my decision not to purchase gems when I got the game 3 years ago is still applicable now. It’s great that they finally implement a much requested feature but once again the marketing/publishing department show’s it’s true face. It’s sad as the game itself is alot of fun.
I’m not sure when they started using these, but they existed since before LS1. They have always bothered me aswell. It should be possible to hide personal story, event details AND this advertising stuff with a click or checkbox somewhere. If you click on them to hide so you only see the title it still resets the next time you change maps etc. If someone really wanted to do PvP they would check it out if they see it.
PVP Nameplate Icons, Show Player Names [OFF]
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns
Posted by: Lethalvriend.1723
I think the idea of having a PvP tag is nice, however I also think that it should be displayed as map completion. That means you only see it as you hover over a player rather than seeing it next to the name. Some people already have rather long names + a guildtag and now that icon is added to it aswell. It makes the UI look a bit messy so I hope they will change it.
I think the name kind of made it obvious, a ‘Lost Precipice’ shouldn’t be allowed to cause a win of any kind.
It is also indicated on the weapon tooltip itself.
I frequently see LFG’s in the group finder tool for this. A few days ago I got into a map where about 10-20 people were looking for it and simply by asking in map chat a random guy said he found one. He didn’t know what to do with it, but because we asked him he came to us and helped out. It’s probably the easiest way to get it (by not just relying on yourself).
SW chest farm doesn’t add that much raw gold into the game as dungeons were, those bags only gave a few silver a piece. It would take quite some bags to earn the same amount of raw gold dungeons used to give. You do get alot of materials, but those materials only have value through using them or selling on the TP, which means they don’t generate gold but rather drain gold from the game. I don’t think they will nerf SW for this, especially considering you can earn a ton of gold in HoT maps and by node-farming certain materials.
The primary source of Rugged leather is probably salvaging lvl 46-63 medium armors. This means people likely open bags on characters near that level or find them during levelling and then salvage those.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Rugged_Leather_Section
With many low level materials it’s usually inconvenient to farm a specific tier unless you have a character in that range you aren’t interested in levelling. You could save up bags and open them with that char and then salvage the medium armor for the leather. It’s probably alot easier to just earn some gold from other things and buy them though.
You could also do map completion on zones in that level range, if you get lucky you might get 20-40 leather, but there is also a chance you get metal, clothing or wood instead so it’s not that reliable.
…after 2 years of gameplay I only got 15 gold …. (yes, not a dungeon/fractal frequent) … then discovered Halloween’s lab … and got 100 g …. …then crafting 67 g -_- … where am I supposed to get gold? should I become a farmer?
15G isn’t alot of money, you must not play alot, or do you spend it all constantly meaning you don’t have more than 15G at the same time? Either way, if you have HoT and you play in those zones you can get alot of rare weapons. If you open chests in the new zones you can also find Black Diamonds which sell for 4-5g a piece and aren’t that rare. I must’ve found over 10 so far. Because mystic forging precursors was super cheap and still is quite cheap compared to previously mithril ore has risen in value. At the same time logs have risen in value because they are needed for alot of new collections and raids → ascended gear. There is a ton of money to be made, from just playing around I’ve earned 250G since hot launched. I’ll admit I did have some alts doing a daily flax harvest for a while which might account for about 50G of that but still, it’s not as hard as you think to find money.
Another reason is to make sure people don’t constantly relist an item in order to ‘undercut’ sell listings at no penalty. This way people have to think about the price they pick for their listing. On top of that this also makes the profit margin of TP flipping smaller, but that’s more of a side-effect than a reason. Not to mention it drains gold out of the game to make sure prices of items don’t rise to abnormal values.
I’ll be honest, I enjoy the expansion but if you expect them to release skins through ingame means… keep dreaming. During the very first weeks of HoT launch we’ve seen more gemstore related skins added to the game than the whole expansion contains… It’s very annoying in my opinion. They want people to pay quite a sum for an expansion and then decide to release day-1 BLC weapon sets, well sure. I expected one, but not three in the first few weeks. But before this turns into a giant rant, they should definetely add more ingame rewards. Currently there aren’t even any gliders to be earned ingame (Exalted glider for example should have been a Tarir reward for Aurillium or as a drop imo).
I think that if they intend to add a large amount of maps in the future (long term future) it will indeed be hard to sustain these events. Meta’s like in VB are much easier because even if you don’t want T4 you can still complete an outpost or multiple outposts and then kill 1 or 2 bosses. You get rewards, sure not the coat box but you can do the meta. In AB you only need a short time period so I don’t see that becoming a problem either, however things like Chak Gerent (which seem to be triple trouble 2.0, as in getting abandoned) are likely a bad idea to have too much of. Since Chak Gerent is just one event in the expac it’s not too bad. The Dragon’s Stand event is in my opinion the most intensive meta, if you have a good map you barely have any breaks for at least an hour. Usually in raids you at least have some downtime, like getting everyone back to the boss or discussion a new tactic etc. I think these kind of events will dwindle in player base sooner once the majority has what they want from them. I do enjoy them, it’s just very hard to spend the amount of time in them that ANet intends (when looking at costs of rewards).
There are also Large versions of those airship cargos that can give you 50 airship parts. I’ve found one near the Itzel poison inside that big tree that gave me 50 + 3 bits flew off the cargo giving me another 3 per those for 59 from a single Large Airship Cargo.
Basically the whole ‘vanilla game free’ is like an expansive trial version of the game. People can do dungeons, fractals, WvW, PvP etc, but they are restricted in many things. They only have 2 character slots, 3 bag slots per character, 1 bank tab, can’t mail items or gold, can only buy limited items from the TP and so on. I think it’s a wise decision to do this though. If new players had to buy HoT + the base game it might turn away alot of them because it’s quite a steep cost. By allowing new players to try the game out for free they can lure in potential new buyers and keep the playerbase growing.
I would actually recommend you to do Fractals, if you do the daily and 3 lvl 1-20 fractals you have a good chance of getting an ascended ring. Today for example I obtained two of them in 4 fractal runs. Instead of spending alot of money you spend a bit of time.
