good idea, with time we also need raid reward track but only for legend players
i tried that rune at the beginning of HoT and i recall it having a bug consuming the crit buff on steal with mug trait despite it cant crit, not sure if that still exists, thats not very significant though since you will always want to combo your steal during the bound animation to get a guaranteed bound on top of your target for damage + its great for disarming traps and marks without taking the initial damage
also there is one more bug which still exists, the crit buff after you dodge in combat says it lasts for 10 seconds but in reality once 5 seconds have passed you are not guaranteed to crit anymore, despite the buff stays there you cant consume it, i have reported that several months ago but player support specialist told me to go on thief forums and cry about it there, quality game staff confirmed

that would be an interesting twist for thief gameplay but likely unuseful unless single-handed dual wield skills (3) will recieve significant reworks or buffs
unstable ping can cause that, try to monitor your ping
try different specialization combinations and weapon sets, thief isnt all about braindead d/p 5-2 spam anymore, there are at least 3 other weapon sets that can get you to legend without ever going d/p while utilizing various gameplay which doesnt include being a decap sissy who cant kill 1v1 even a ranger pet

Just because it’s from Japan doesn’t make it “weeb”. Samurai have a long tradition of practicing discipline, honor, hard work, and extensively trained in many areas. Ninja were basically rogue samurai. The traditional “ninja” outfit was actually for stagehands but someone had the brilliant (not sarcastic) idea to actively incorporate them into their play thus that became their identity. Ninjas would traditionally wear what’s appropriate for their job. They were mercenaries, usually samurai who went rogue and also had amazing training that involved sprinting, jump-roping over thorny ropes, maximize survival in a burning building, and had some quite undignified jobs at times to say the least. An emperor even banned firearms because he understood that people needed a lower skill to kill with them (it should be noted that guns in those days could only carry one bullet and had to frequently be reloaded and weren’t too accurate) so it was therefore not an honorable weapon. Some martial arts still incorporated them however but were banned for a period.
Why must we put these labels (as if liking a Japanese cartoon somehow makes someone lesser) on people? It is simply someone sharing his idea and it has some merit. I think the idea might fit guardian better, but guardian already has a great sword and access to all two handed weapons except short bow. But it begs the question: why is Japanese culture so attractive to many in the West? Western cultures have and share certain roots with each other and Western media reflects that. You see Western cartoons confirming mainstream attitudes (usually, though the good ones mock them) and values being reminded that such media comes from a certain culture with certain roots. Japan however has a radically different culture that doesn’t take as much offense to certain issues or topics (but does so in different ways) and this attracts people looking for something else. You also get an outsiders’ window of your own culture in some episodes. Making fun of Americans for being overly sensitive, assuming guilt in people where there is none, and sue-happy? You can laugh in agreement with the cartoon. It isn’t making fun of you per se, but aspects of your own country and culture you don’t like or agree with. There are also personalities and attitudes in anime you won’t get in western cartoons.
Speaking of ninja why not a ninja elite spec that focuses on group support via stealth and some cleansing and healing? Ninjas were trained with the first aid of the day and were very literate when it came to medicine so they’d know how to patch up an ally if needed. They were well trained in poisons so it’d make sense if they knew how to work with the good plants too.

and mind you when i say “stupid” im not just cursing for no reason i actually mean it, with all the plot armor certain characters have there with all these “oh no an enemy makes an unexpected move but noooo waaay thats just exactly what the protagonist predicted!” moments every single of these cartoons have
just so you know nearly all japanese cartoons are made to cater for 12-16 years old children so the fact when a western adult is watching them 6 hours per day and claiming that its the pinnacle of art points toward some serious mental issues
oh and they almost never show in those cartoons anything about western world, it might sound shocking to you but the japanese are still extremely secluded and have borderline irrational phobia for everything from outside unless of course you consider something like code geass a worthy representation of japanese vision of europe/america lol

those who are against hot female character outfits can feel free to take the first plane ticket to any middle eastern country
the original ranked system in this game was something like the automated tournament where you even had to buy tickets to join for gems if im not wrong

Take off the tin foil hat. The current exchange rate is simply what happens if you have two currencies that are exchangeable and only offer merchandise for one of them.
the fact that the exchange rate was moving slowly for several years and then jumped so high without any real changes all the while Anet constantly keeps adding some sort of money sinks in the game is not something normal

i suggest that when you reach legendary division, volunteering button to go back to amber is available. going on the quest 2 times gives you all the rewards x 2 and then when you reach it again, volunteering to do it again a 3rd time will give you a x 3 reward. and so on and so forth. and every time you reach legendary again you get a special chest.
that sounds great, i’d love to stomp some more amber-rubies

Dia first season (having to learn and travelling doesn´t offer much time to play :< )
Legy Prestige 4 or 5 last season (got most from that)
Legy this season (no prestige yet cause no motivation)
—> You get a lot of charges with prestige levels.So many charges for just playing something I like instead of PvE is great ^^
The gold is nice to have.
ye those transmutation charges are also nice although ive been getting enough of those for my needs simply by doing pvp reward tracks

Don’t worry, there is plenty of time to do it in HoTM while you wait for your 10 minute queues.
i prefer doing in those 10 minutes some more fun things like shooing PvE players out of PvP lobby
to make p/d work u swap it into d/p and spam 5-2 all day
all serious competitive games allow to save builds in one way or another
really, Anet does some attempts to create a build diversity but then you get stuck with a character using a single build because it takes ages to swap all the items and traits to change to a completely different build like DH guardian to support/bunker guardian

I have trouble keeping 50% winrate in diamond, even if I tryhard I cannot fix all the stupid mistakes other people do. Its suprising how many people in diamond dont have basic map awareness, run useless builds or refuse to relog to a different class if there are too many of one class (say 3 thieves for example)i’ve won matches with people on my team who dont have map awareness, i went on huge win streaks using builds that people like you call “useless” and i’ve won matches with 3 thieves on my team and lost vs a team of 4 non-premade mesmers
so im gonna risk saying that its probably your negative attitude and lack of game knowledge holding you back rather than anyone’s mmr carrying them
Basically you can camp at close if your MMR is high enough.
Also I cant have any positive attitude about this pvp matchmaking, it is just turning me into a misanthrope when I meet all these people who waste my pips. This is definitely the worst one out of the 3 seasons and I thought it couldnt get worse after S2.
well if that was true i’d probably win 4v5 such matches where I had on my team for example a certain player claiming he plays in proleague and calling us all kitten while staying afk the whole match, unfortunately there was no chance of winning that so i have to disagree about mmr playing such role as carrying a player
because its a huge map with a fairly difficult but powerful win condition (lord kill) that rewards both strong teamfight and rotation presence
likely the best map currently, forest of niflhel is close second although it suffers some flaws such as clunky/uneven map and terrain design and easily killable beasts that reward a rather significant buff apart of points
Anet support is fairly clueless, but thats the flaw of many games in general

i played since the first week but i took it slowly and played only when i felt i want to do some pvp without chasing the rank and such so on average i did like 15 matches per week
gratz i guess, someone has 49 games played and 49 win streak to legendary.
yeah thats totally possible, the only matches i’d lost were the ones where i totally couldnt do anything for various reasons (mostly human factors) but with some luck its possible to get none of those or simply play in full premade like that person probably did

my account exists since the game’s launch and i played all previous ranked seasons actively, although i dont spam pvp matches nearly as much as some people around who boast having 5k+ matches, cant force myself to play sPvP so much for the life of it
kitten HoT is tough for thief until you get unhindered combatant
try also shadowstep/shadow refuge/signet of agility utilities
Was pretty much cake with about 40 win streak only getting more tough towards the end/second half of diamond where more people abuse mesmer freelo or rage about stupid crap.
All matches were played in conquest, solo, as a thief.
any stun break ends the launch (or daze) from the impact strike chain
also all teleport skills in this game can be used during the loss of character control even if they cant break stuns, elem’s mist form isnt a teleport but its the best downed ability in game so we just have to deal with it

shadow trap is an excellent example of how thief traps should be, it may need to be buffed in some way but if it wasnt randomly breaking the teleport it would be a good ability
ambush is also a decent idea for a trap even if it sucks now, if you could actually port in your teammate/party member through it instead of a useless NPC i think it would be a great utility skill that fits the dirty fighting theme of thief, something like shadow trap but for your team/party members, of course it would need some adjustments in case of that change, like a longer cooldown and stuff
tripwire and needle trap are examples of bad traps for thief, guardian and ranger traps cover the offensive trap niche much better already so thief could specialize in the area of utility/mobility traps like in the above mentioned examples

and there are more examples now and in the past, for example when dagger 4 was actually a real skill you could simply bounce it between zerk-geared gankers and drop them like flies punishing them for poor positioning, what then? thief is spammer
I apparently never played thief when dagger 4 was a real skill. Please tell me more. Did it actually used to do damage? I pretty much assume the skill isn’t actually there. (I’ll use it to slow down someone approaching a point I am in the process of capturing, but that’s basically it.)
PS. I really think competitive gw2 could use a daily skill/trait discussion thread where the community can give feedback on a skill or trait (synergies, use cases, etc.). A lot of abilities are “vestigial” ( I just really wanted to use that word ), and are often just straight up not very good. Thief Dagger 4 is one of many.
it did about 2.5x of its current damage and cost 4 initiative, using it 4 times on 2 people was enough to down any zerker geared class except maybe warrior
that skill ended up being one of many thief skills which were victims of GW2’s early days of full zerk meta and got some heavy handed nerfs which are still not lifted despite the game had evolved into a rather defensive direction so even in their old form those abilities wouldnt be that powerful anymore
so now d 4 is just a 3 sec cripple on a 900 range lol

I agree thief is often unnecessarily called spammy, BUT when builds like d/d condi exist that is when spam is an actual thing. You use #3 and your dodge over and over again. The reason it is spam and not normal thief gameplay is because there is no skill required to play it and it can actually be a threat. The bound+vault spam build is the same way, it relies on using 1 skill and dodging. It doesn’t require any skill and in the right cases it can be a threat (granted there’s a ton of easy lockdowns to it but that is not the point)Resource based gameplay is power d/d, d/p (without bound and ID), s/d, staff (when not using the vault/ bound spam build), and p/d because they rely on using combinations of skills that can be used as many times as they want in a row but only when their resources allow them to. Yes most thief builds fall into that area but there are a few spam builds and only clueless players don’t see that or are too ignorant to recognize it as a problem. (not an attack on you, just turning around what Lexander said)

matchmaking is fine and its simply bad players cant accept they are not deserving to climb, but due to extremely forgiving pip gain mechanics (win streak bonus, come back bonus, no pip loss if leaver on team) they occasionally end up getting diamond by the end of season after some 1000 games so that next season they can complain that they are good but cant climb due to bad matchmaking, heh

how about growing up and quitting making edgy names
only clueless players call anything about thief a “spam”
its a profession balanced around a resource rather than cooldowns unlike all other professions and weapon sets have 1-2 main damaging abilities with the rest of weapon skills providing situational utility so of course you are going to use your damaging abilities more often than situational ones you silly cupcakes
its nearly impossible to properly balance all the innumerous abilities in this game, plenty of stuff such as mesmer bullkitten portals/clones, thief’s useless steal, ton of engineer’s useless bundles, ranger’s HoT pets which are still complete bullkitten, half of utility abilities of every profession being completely useless all of these are in a dire need of entire redesign and/or scrapping if this game’s pvp is ever to be taken seriously
good luck hoping that we’ll have a proper pvp game one day, but at least this season is probably one of the least disgusting ones tbh
