Yes, that’s what I’d love to see as well. Right now most of the challenge in GW2 can be negated by just bashing your face into it until you get lucky and get it done. Especially now with no armor repair costs. If wiping meant getting kicked out, things would be a lot harder (ofcourse rewards will have to be compensated).

I pug all the time and I actively avoid any “zerkerz onlizzz plzzz” or “+6 or more k AP onlizz plox” parties, I also avoid ones that exclude any classes.

My general experience from parties the few times I was in them was everyone was hostile and you felt like you were in some kind of exam about to be whipped across the knuckles if you made the slightest mistake, elitist pricks, people faking being an elitist prick to get other people to carry them, people who have no idea how to play the game.

The pugs I do run with are usually very friendly and great to chat with, surly thats much for enjoyable than sitting in cof p1 with your butt cheeks clenched so tightly your eyeballs are about to explode, holding a stop clock to figure out how much this run took.

Also to the guy who kicked the clerics guys, I’m sorry you deserve the kick, if I saw someone do that in a dungeon I would immediately request a kick to that person, have fun :v

And they stated very clearly that the reason was because it wasn’t run eniugh and their lore reason was that of the possible scenarios, Fyonna getting to the Nightmare tree before Vevina or Leurent was unlikely. However, I counter that it is highly unlikely that Fyonna could have a prayer of defeating Vevina in the first place… which makes “up” the least likely path.

I never got to play TAFU. I shall forever have to wonder at what I missed. From what I’ve heard though, the reason why people didn’t do the path was because of the bug(?) that made spawned spiders at the last boss not despawn after a wipe. Since it was viewed as the “hardest” path, people just avoided it in droves. (See AC P2 and CM P2 for similar examples. People hardly ever do those two, but they do the dungeon’s other paths all the time, simply because it’s regarded as “harder”.)

Yes, that’s why no one ran it.

It’s very annoying when you’re looking to pug the dungeon and all you see is group after group, selling the path. It makes it harder to see a legit group.

This, and I despise the fact that some of the groups that are selling might actually have just kicked a member at the end. (May not be occurring as much as I think though)

If you’re seeing lots and lots of people selling a specific path it is less likely that they’re kicking people and more likely that the path is easily exploitable. Not all path sellers use exploits but for a lot of the commonly sold paths you’ll have chappy players who can’t actually solo anything. This is bad for the legit path sellers so naturally all of us want to see these exploits fixed and these knockoff sellers to be stopped

Based on the minimum sell versus max buy it honestly looks fishy to me. Like someone tried to flip them? I don’t know. These rucksacks like the desert rose were actually very easy to get when they came out. Too much supply in my opinion.

Well, the other reason was that it wasn’t different enough from the other paths.

If they’d made the spiders de-spawn, I would have liked F/U. I did it a couple of times (guildies & PUGs where we ran through it the first time) — but every time I tried to help a PUG which had failed once, it was too late (didn’t help that obviously such PUGs aren’t dodging right).

If you’re going to say that a wipe is game over, you should do it like FoW or DoA in GW1 — not by just making the encounter much harder.

I didn’t mind the fights, but by the end it felt really gimmicky — and I didn’t like the security room puzzle. Maybe I’d enjoy it more a second time through.

Since I know Alice is still reading this thread, I figured I’d share my own thoughts even though threads like this always turn into a mess.

The real problem is a combination of mechanics that allow some encounters to turn into what you have described and the lack of a dungeon team monitoring these things and making balance adjustments accordingly. There is a reason AC is so popular, it is one of the dungeons where stacking can be combined with reflects and some other skills to make some encounters disgustingly easy. You can’t do it in every dungeon or on every boss, hence why people have to buy Arah tokens. You do bring up a valid point in that the encounters where it is possible players have come to completely rely on it and without it have embarrassing results like getting caught by every Kholer pull, possibly the most obvious tell in the game.

I personally won’t stack on AC bosses because I find it so boring I want to claw my eyes out. To some people on this forum that must mean I wear full PVT gear. I fell in love with the organized chaos boss fights were at launch and I just don’t find it fun to stand in a corner unless it’s some bullkitten like high level dredge where not doing so makes the encounter something beyond horrible. For bosses like Kholer the time difference between stacking and beating his kitten in the center of the room is minimal though.

Since Lillith is tired of linking it over and over and I am lazy I’ll just tell you that when LS started it was stated by Hrouda that the dungeon team had been dissolved to work on LS. There is no dedicated dungeon team anymore, and sadly there may never will be again. It seems highly likely that the dungeons have been abandoned in favor of much more accessible open world content.

In gw2 you make your own challenges. Which is the beauty of it. You can kill bosses naked. You can do whatever you want. Stop trying to make this game that is ours into yours. God I hate you all.

Soloing some dungeons is actually quite challenging and impressive to see when done in a speedrun. There are some examples that obviously don’t count, where they bug the boss, like ive seen a player bug the spider queen in AC so she doesn’t move or attack and can just be dps’ed in the open.

The problem is that these players arn’t rewarded any differently. You take the easy way out and get rewards, they do something obviously much more difficult and get the exact same thing. Dungeons and fractals need a system that acknowledges that a player is soloing it so they can get better rewards.

It’s called getting it done quickly so you can run another path. That’s the incentive! More chances to receive a good roll on the loot table! More champ bags! More material bags!

Soloing and duoing? SELL THE SLOTS

If you are under the false impression that I am a brainwashed speed runner I challenge you to ask anyone I run with if that is what I am, or if I’m just that adorable Asura playing the flute at the way point while they /dance for 20 minutes. Also I challenge you to RP and RP walk through dungeons. Cause the game play is social. It’s not, “RARRRRGGHHH no skill no stack no skip do it my way or I’ll grief you to the high heavens!”

Its: “Hey colesy, want to join me while I teach a new player the ropes in AC? We can giggle and make jokes in TS.”

Its: “Hey sexy players let’s take level 2’s into fractals and complete it and take screens because it’s fun.”

Its: “let’s make some gold so I can change my characters armor once a week like I want to.”

Its: “Hey let’s create a community where we learn and play together, without judging other people for how they like to play.”

I think they’re trying to “show” that there is a dungeon team and they’re working on stuff, but the problem they’re randomly coming up with stuff that nobody asks for and put them in game. And don’t even want to start talking about fractals ,_,

Or perhaps they don’t want to spend budget on dungeons, so who ever is working on them has very limited time or resources to make bigger changes.

The problem is not the budget, but as with every Anet project they ever partaken is the actual focus on thing that needs to be worked on. In most cases the “fixes” are not welcomed, nor they’re asked for. How do you justify the money towards the project (even as small as fixing CoF p1 room but putting the wall over it) when you know nobody will be happy about it.

What Anet lack is the focus. They take feedback (that’s when they actually take feedback and not just open the thread up to let it collect dust) and instead of working on major issues and requests, they do their own thing. In some cases it’s obvious that person working on a given dungeon / fractal never ran it regularly nor (in case of fractals) partaken in a high level run on multiple occasions. Rather than that, they do what they’re given on a list of things that Anet just penciled in without looking more into what the actual end result will be after making said change. In case of fractals and dreadful Fractured update, QA Team did a horrible job in actually testing every level on every instability, thus everything went to hell and certain levels are not being ran ever again, because they’re either not fun or just plain build-breaking.

For example with the last CDI on fractals, people complained about rewards and dredge, when nothing was left rolling came up as an “issue”. I can almost see now that “rolling” will be their focus if they even start working on fractals again. All while dredge will be untouched again, rewards bumped up by 10s and another reset will take place.

They probably pick their focus groups based on RNG rather than quantitative and qualitative responses of people that actually make sense and have solid facts behind them.
