I did on release — yuck.

May I ask what makes you think that it qualifies for any of my points? I am genuinely curious as it has none of what I am asking for. On the contrary, it embodies almost everything I despise about most (especially newer) medium armor sets. It is militant (metal, blades), it doesn’t look like a ranger’s armor at all. It has no pouches, no leather bags, no anything. It covers all the skin. It is awful!

There are some nice medium in the legacy armor boxes from wvw/spvp tracks.

I’m just spitballing here, but perhaps if it was discounted for vets, BUT they included S3 for new people, it could be more justified in charging more to new players?

They already do this vets pay same price newbies pay the same and have to fork over more for s2 +s3

I’m not sure that the price for a 1 1/2-year old game will dictate what a brand new game (or new expansion) will cost.

The price for expansion 2 may, or may not, be the same as Heart of Thorns. Really, only time will tell.

As for getting the best deal, that would be those that logged in, but waited to purchase Heart of Thorns at a discount; they got all of Living World Season 3 at no additional cost.

Yes but we dident know that living world season 3 would be free even for ftp accoutn if they logged in while it was active untill after hot had launched.

We just have to pray they keep that policy.

There would have been very easy solution to this Engineer AFK problem. ArenaNet just should remember how Ritualist spirits worked in Guild Wars 1, and change turrets working same way in this specific area.
For those who have not been played Guild Wars 1, this is how Ritualists spirits worked: Only one same kind of spirit could be up same time. So in the party was not able to be 2 ritualists who used same spirits, or other players sprits were destroyed. Same system to the turrets and there we go, problem solved, only one same kind of turret can be up and other same kind turret is destroyed. Other players can use kits, like boms, minefields, crenades, flamethrowers and so on, but only one player can use turrets at same time.

And that wouldent solve it at all since people would just use commander group to get into map then leave so they are a party of 1 and set up all their turrets anyway.

They didn’t mean “in the party” (literally) but more likely “in the area”. And yes, that would actually solve the problem.

So one turret engineer who hangs around in that map can hog that playstyle and deny it to any other engineer who shows up?

Nope. The other engineer would be able to build the same turrets, it just would lead to the distruction of the previous ones build. That way it would be a never ending competition that everyone would grow tired of quickly.

No it wouldent in gw1 you were in party and had your own map instance makes sense to only have 1 if the same buffs from spirits etc.

In gw2 however there are multiple parties on the same map sharing the space so having the same thing is useless.

This is not about opening a level 100 fractal, the OP already can. This is for challenge mote.

In most cases where you want to open a lever higher than your own personal reward level, just put it in LFG or ask in map chat. More often than not someone is willing to join to open the instance then leave.

You apparently didn’t read the OP, he is saying the requirements some players put on their CM 100 make it so you would have to have done it before since hey want the title.

The OP can make his own group for CM 100 with whatever requirements he wants for his group, nothing is stopping him from doing this besides himself…..

Yes and you apparently dident read the one he replied to saying that the group he joined couldent even open the instances they advertised their lfg as, hence why the person you repiled to reply like s/he did.

We need race change and profession change and the store will be complete. You’ve included the much contested max level 80 item that gives players a free level 80 character when buying the expansion for HoT so why not finish the job?

Having played FF, I wonder why they can’t just let us level every job on a single character.

The first game had a secondary profession system where you could pick up pretty much anything from another profession and meld it with your primary.

The least they could do for the second game is to let us learn and switch professions, as long as you have to level all of them from level 1 that’s not much different from having alts, with all the things that are already shared between an account’s characters.

The only issue is that character slots would suddenly less attractive, so they would probably have to sell the option on the gem store.

Yes and were do you suggest anet get the money for character slots that they then have to refund?

Hello Dear Anet.

Right now, the only way to get a special sunless skin is by getting very lucky while defeating Tequalt.
It might be fun a hundred times, but even a hundred time isn’t always enough to get ONE skin.
And there’s a complete set.

This set, and Triple Trouble skins (well, there aren’t nearly as many) are just pure RNG and a nightmare for wardrobe skin hunters.

Idea: Why not letting us trade X tail pieces or tooth piece against 1 skin (doesn’t have to be ascended, just the skin please)? There would still be some kind of RNG involved but there would at least be progression towards it, whereas the current system is simply dumb. You have to get -very- lucky, no way around it.
RNG is a pain when it’s the only way to retrieve something.

The moment they added the fractal tonic and the fractal weapons in a vendor as diff means of aquiring them all their value was lost. No more things should get that treatment.

In yout eyes mate, for me no value was lost.

Not sure that’s a workaround, to be honest. I believe that you need to go through all the content with the original unlock character or it won’t count for the achievement. Then again, I could be wrong, so please keep us posted!

I got enough boxes and then some to deck out 1 light 1 medium and 1 heavy set, so can anyone who start to work on fractals mate.

Using just trinkets, there are a maximum of 10 infusion slots (6 from rings, 2 from accessories, and 2 from the backpack). To reach AR 150 would require 10x AR+15 infusions. Those are currently worth between 370 and 550 gold, so call it 450g average. Net cost of using trinkets, around 4500 gold.

Compare that to the cost of using even just 16 AR+9 slots: 110-120 gold.

The cost of adding six pieces of ascended armor runs from ~60 to 100g, depending on weight & piece, so let’s call it 80g/piece or 540g per set.

Not counting trinket costs, it costs about 650g to go from no AR to AR150 via traditional crafting.

In other words, you can gear up 7 different characters with ascended gear suitable for fractals for the same costs it takes to set up universal trinkets (which, alas, wouldn’t have universal stats that work for all builds).

tl;dr it’s unrealistic to expect that most people can get AR150 from trinkets alone. And those who could probably won’t, because they have other uses for their gold besides fractal gear.

Ofcourse but OP wanted something to transfer around to all his characters and those 6 slots are the only ones you can do that.
Hence my suggestion, I never said it was a good idea.

I do think that this would have made for a good account-bound mastery, if that had existed in 2012-3 when ANet was setting up the AR system.

However, account-bound mastery is no longer the realistic option anymore because of what you said.

People who don’t fractal don’t necessarily need ascended and people who do should be able to manage to have a couple of shared armor sets.

  • People who don’t play Fractal will still be able to access Fractals because they won’t need Ascended gear. The agony leveling system will level them up all the way to 150 even with only exotic gear. Even if they do not touch Fractals, it will be welcoming because they will not hit the ascended/agony wall.
  • People who do fractals have the ability to play with any kind of gear. Rather than wasting 600g on a new set of ascended armor. I can go for the cheaper exotic gear. Meaning, if I feel like it, I can just get exotic cleric gear instead of wasting on a useless ascended cleric gear just for testing.

In other words, as you’ve presented it, I wouldn’t like to see it in game. I’d prefer for ANet to work on something else. However, if they agreed, I’m sure I’d level up a toon (but not more than one).

However, ANet are working on Fractals, but it isn’t very alt-friendly or welcoming. This QoL change will see use. If ANet agree with this, you may level up more than 1 toon because you could be bored with your current one. I know I get bored with playing with just only 1 toon. I would at least level 9 out of my 40 characters so that I can have a full class roster that can play fractals without needing 150 AR worth of ascended gear. Maybe more if I get bored and want to progress my characters after doing the fractal dailies.

I understand your love for Account-bound Agony resist, but just as you said. It isn’t realistic anymore.

I like how you just decided what things should and shouldn’t do. That’s a convincing argument. I won’t argue you’re numbers, other than to say that your comparisons aren’t very meaningful. It’s amusing that acknowledging power cleaves in the 10K range doesn’t seem to bother you at all … in fact you say it like that’s just normal play … but 4K conditions … how ruinous.

You sound really ignorant right there. I said power dps builds do burst dps from 2k-10k your every hit isnt a 10k. Power damage scales depending on how much armor, vitality and healing power based your enemy is. If you against a minstrel ele with power build you are not killing it.

Then I also said condition damage do dps 4k to insta down someone and conditions do 4k+ per tick. It doesn’t take much to keep reapplying conditions on your target.

What you did was, you took 4k from conditions and 10k from power while ignoring everything else I said and tried to prove that power is still superior. No it isn’t with the continuous buffs to condition dps power is lacking in every single way.

If you don’t understand how the game plays don’t comment on it

Show me a youtube clip were 1 condition from 1 player do 4k a tick from the first second its applied.

If your comparing 1 power build against a zerg of condition spewing players then sure its fair since your 1 against many.

Been standing at Indigo cave for about 30mins with nobody here. I like this game but i don’t understand how the content can be future-proofed when it’s so group focused. Same with HoT, which i now feel ridiculously pressured to grind through for weeks even though i simply don’t have the time. The amount of people i see saying “GW2 is great because it can be taken casually at your own pace”. Absolute rubbish! If you don’t keep up then you’ll be left with dead areas and lost content. How am i supposed to get the luminescent gear? Is there a peak time on the EU servers? Anybody got any tips at all for how to get around this problem? It’s incredbly frustrating.

Well peak time for eu servers would have been bettwen 4 to 8 hours ago mate its night time now.

Couple of quick examples from top of my head:

  • Answer Raven’s Riddles in norn starting area. (event)
  • Mount Maelstrom map, even where you transform into animal (moa, dolyak, rabbit) to go gather stuff inside cave with angry ghosts.
  • Timberlake (iirc) south end, event chain that tells a funny story of asura and human researchers researching Ettins, while each separate event is nothing new, the combination and story telling combines into something greater.

They do make some good events, but a good bunch of them are meant to be just filler for people to do to get xp etc. In short, a bit similar to most games quests, that are there just to give generic XP.

I do agree that I’d like to see more complicated and different events. And will be following this thread with interest. Just want to clear out that not all the events are the same.

Edit: should mention that the general quality of the “launch” materials tend to be richer in terms of creativity and variety. Not a big surprise that later content aren’t quite up to that level.

Also got the shrine of the cat in norn starting area were you can ask npc to transform you to a cat.

Mounts can benefit this game only if they are implemented with mount specific combat. That may be interesting and have some potential. But to having mounts as fancy visual buffs to movespeed as they are in all generic MMOs after WoW I say “no thanks”. They do not benefit the gameplay in any way, and old maps will feel smaller than they really are because of the overpowered mount speed.
As for the flying mounts, we have gliders, that are much more fun to use than WoW-ish “floating baloon” mounts.

Nuhoch Wallows, Thermal Tubes, Skritt Tunnels, Ley-Lines, Oakheart Essences. New types of transportation were used to replace many waypoints. And that’s exactly what mounts would do. Claiming that we don’t need mounts is just as claiming that we don’t need the systems listed above because we could use more waypoints instead.

Well, no. Because mounts are just a +% of movespeed with none new interesting mechanics. Masteries and glider on the other hand give the player access to unique mechanics. Gliders and oakheart essence can take the player to places he could never access on foot and create combat situations like fight with Mordemoth. Mounts are just running with extra speed buff. Nothing new, nothing exiting, just a fancy model to stick between your legs. Unless, of course, these mounts come with some new mechanics, like mount combat or ability to jump across chasms.

mounts arent always generic movement speed buffs.

a good mount changes the way you interact with the game world, giving you new, hopefully pleasurable experience.

this, is as i said, IF they are good mounts.

What game have done that mate?
I cant think of one were they arent just a speed buff.

But then again it would problabely be locked behind new gemstore tools to be honest.

-Unlimited Harvesting/Chopping/Mining tools that yield something extra that is useful in game for crafting, or gives something that is purely cosmetic.
Examples: Harvesting Tool: small chance at rare dye (account bound), Chopping tool: small chance of higher tier wood when chopping a lower tier wood, Mining Tool: small chance at mining aura specific essences which when combined eventually yields a socket-able aura essence (account bound)>> (color selection of aura selectable)

Yeah.. overcharging turrets is not working…
After placing a turret on ground i can only detonate it.

Read the patch notes when you summon the turrets they get overcharged automaticly and its changed so you can do it only that one time.

You were the one that brought “what I like” into it not me. Stop trying to twist words.

The problem is that the change that put it like this was AWHILE back. It has stagnated since then. It was not a change that “just happened”. I would like the game to continue evolving. The change I am referring to is the condition damage change which was right around when HoT dropped. Yes it took awhile for the meta to shift because it still has to work its way in. HoT came in 2015? It is now 2017. We have had the condi change for well over a year and what 8 months? It first started off from pirate shipping since the stability change made it too hard to push on a group and guess what they did? They balanced that. The meta was already in force though and continued on because they found that the conditions were quite strong and even with stability it was still hard to push threw all the conditions. I don’t care if you call it “my opinion” but I think it is about time for another meta shift. Balance will never be perfect but the switch back and forth and experimenting with new builds is a thrill. I am looking forward to the next set of elite specs for this reason because it might offer something to change the meta. We have been stuck with it for awhile and it is frustrating.

Well only been 2 years compared to then 3 years of berseker meta so we still got 1 year to go.
