I have so many 80’s that all my stupid basic stones are useless

I know that someone posted in an earlier thread that the hood trick still worked, but I can’t confirm or deny that.

I recommend trying it out with a cheap piece of soul bound gear so if it doesn’t work it’s not a big hit.

Please let us know if it works!

They changed this a long time ago because at one time you could and it made your character completely naked (no underwear either).

It’s not possible to do now.

It’s not a complicated mechanic…

It means you can only have 1 of that item equipped.

I’ve only ever had it not be available in WvW, and that seems to be a design since no one can right-click invite in WvW.

I don’t get people hating on medium armor…i think GW2 has the BEST medium armor in any game I’ve ever played.

I love almost all the armor except that kitten PIRATE CRAP AAAAAR! (and cloth)

He’s talking about ALL dyes. They ALL had an increase in price. The high-end ones just illustrate the dramatic increase.

One theory is dyes started rising after Anet’s massive bot ban. With all those people gone, dye drops probably dropped overall. And bots would sell the dyes – they’re not interested in their color.

It’s individual. I know because all of my alts had to individually learn each of the Halloween recipes.

Basically you can use a main with a ton of karma to buy lots of them for all your alts.

All of the above skills grant Quickness.

Almost all classes can get self-quickness and anyone can with a weapon sigil.

Buy lvl 70 yellows. They should be cheap and effective. If they’re too expensive, try 65 yellows or 70 greens.

If you can’t do the puzzle on your server, switch to a different server. Otherwise you’re just going to have to hope they’re not there. Or ask in /map for a team.

I highly doubt there is a guild devoted to WvW jumping puzzles. And if there is, there is probably only 1 or 2 so you’d have a hard time finding them.

MF is extremely powerful for getting yellows, which are really the best way to make money in this game. All of my 80’s have an exotic MF set and I think the MF draconic set is a fantastic idea.

Bel is correct. I always run local time because using server time would make me late to stuff!

I wish they had dedicated servers for each time zone, but really, it doesn’t matter all that much in the grand scheme of things.

It has the best chance of getting you ectos AND the runes (especially from exotics) because exotic runes can sell for just as much if not more then the armor piece itself would.

Might as well go for the extra money, no?

You can buy the temple gear and throw it in the mystic forge. 4 account-bound karma items will turn into an exotic you can sell.

Purchase exotics gear and salvage them. Sell the salvage material on TP. In this way, you monetarize those karma points. Don’t waste those points.

I thought Karma items weren’t salvageable?

Unfortunately, your anecdotal evidence isn’t evidence at all.

You may FEEL like drop rates were lowered, but unless you’ve actually created some form of data then it’s a pointless comment.

I certainly haven’t noticed a drop, but I also don’t have any statistical data.

I wonder why they went up. Maybe more pre-cursors from the event so more people want them for their legendary?

I would say if your build can take advantage of ALL the stats on the shell, I would say use it. If only 1/2 of the stats are important to your build, I’d use the normal jewelry.

Yes you can convert cash to gems to gold in game with anet’s blessing. Last time I looked gems -> gold was like 70s/100.

Awesome is right, thanks for the correction. GW2spidy says 100 gems sells for 78s 66c at this moment.

Rangers are THE most unfinished and broken profession according to Arenanet themselves. Shouts and Signets were removed in beta to be changed, but ended up back in because of time constraints. Spirits are awful as well. Traps are basically the only good utilities. Not to mention many of their weapons are useless (LB compared to SB, GS compared to single hand sword, single hand sword and it’s rooting bug…)

Rangers have been promised a huge overhaul for over a month now, but each patch they don’t get anything and the devs make excuses.

I would NEVER recommend a ranger in the state they’re in now.

The exchange rate fluctuates like a real-world economy. You need to look at the gem shop to see what it currently is (currency exchange tab on the side).

Generally every 100 gems sells for 45-50s iirc, and it costs about ~1g to buy 100 gems. (sells for less then it costs for sure!)

Doubloons are super-cheap. I concur with coding – farm money and buy them.

But if you do want to farm them, the bags that human mobs drop also have the doubloons.

I would say not leveling crafting. You can buy almost all crafting armor in the game from the TP for the same price as it would for the mats.

You can gather mats, sell them, and buy the armor without having to sink money into crafting

Of course your skills matter, but the aqua breather is negligible. When I finally upgraded all my aqua breathers on my 80’s (warrior, engineer, ranger, ele, thief) I had no noticeable change and almost felt cheated out of my karma.

The aqua breather replaced only the helmet underwater. (You know this because if you dye your helmet underwater it dyes your breather)

The aqua breather is not important enough to upgrade until 80 where you can get the best one and we done with it.

I’m sorry, but at level 10 you’re probably not going to find any cool armor. The coolest armor is at 80, and while there are some nice pieces beforehand, medium armor especially doesn’t look too good in the early levels.

Be happy with your original medium armor – at 40 you start to get the abysmal pirate gear which saturates 40-80 and is horrid.

Actually you can! Generally, you need to make an inscription and 2 parts of a weapon (sword blade + hilt). Combine them in discovery and you’ll “discover” a new recipe. Do that with different inscriptions and weapon parts to level up.

Kill animals.

Kill creatures that drop bags that you can open.

Salvage medium armor.

Buy cheap from the TP.

My ele needs armor upgrades every 5 levels. My warrior’s armor got upgraded every 20 but I did his weapons every 10. My ranger? Dang, he’s still using level 10 jewelry.

I would say buy new armor and weapons from the TP at every x0 level. (10, 20, etc) and buy greens over blurs.

Just go zone to zone doing hearts and events and go for map completion. If a zone is too hard, move to a lower-level one. Keep up with your personal story as well.

You definitely don’t need crafting although it’s an easy level if you do it every now and then.

I would wait until 70+ for dungeons, many groups don’t want low-levels.

Perhaps a Thief or a Mesmer.

I would say thief moreso, but they both have lots of slash-y and dodge-y attacks. No class has a thrusting attack, and warriors are not fencer-ish at all.

Learn to read, you need to have completed the first couple steps from phase 1 before phase 2 begins, otherwise you can’t finish phase 1.

I have 4 80’s. A thief, engineer, warrior, and ranger. I eventually plan on getting an 80 of everything.

For the moment though, I need to pick a main. It was going to be my ranger, but I’m tired of playing a broken class that the developers bold-face lie to.

So.

I want to be effective in dungeons (specifically, I like doing damage. I DON’T want to be tanky, I don’t mind a bit of support but I’d rather focus on just damage)

I want to be able to solo quickly

I want to be able to tag mobs in large group events so I don’t get screwed on loot.

Any help is appreciated picking between the 4 listed above. Please do NOT suggest any other class – it will be a while before I level another character.

GS. It hits hard and lets you have strong mobility.

You could try Axe/Axe if you don’t like GS.

You could try ele’s but you need to put in more work for less results. Also their AoE is really slow so they can have a hard time tagging in some cases.

Excuse us for trying to make the OP less miserable. Because he will be miserable if he plays an ele or necro, especially if he ends up playing a GOOD class later on.

If you want to farm events, go warrior.

Don’t go Ranger. Their class is the least finished (according to John Peters) and has been promised a huge overhaul for the past month, finally that it would happen today.

Instead, Rangers got almost nothing important buffed and instead got nerfed, with John Peters saying “it’s been challenging to balance the promised buffs to rangers, don’t worry, they’ll come soon.”

I doubt rangers will be good even after these so-called “buffs” that may or may not happen.

And also, Apple is wrong. The propaganda that all classes are great at everything is a lie.

Bots use rangers because they have more survivability.

A condition spec is NOT what you want to use if you want to farm Orr events for loot. You want a DD class like a GS or Axe warrior, a GS guardian, grenade engineer, etc.

You need to do a LOT of damage really fast. Conditions are too slow.

The rune stacks with other speed boosts.

Everything else doesn’t. I think the max you can get is 33%

Are there critters in Orr?

Because I can’t come up with a 5th mob type. Non-living things (i.e. cannon) don’t count afaik
