Smoke field for access to Hook Strike

If they were willing to give us Smoke Field, Smoke Field would be better, but everyone seems to doubt that they would because they do not want staff/Daredevil to be a stealthy build option. Any suggestions that make stealth more available or more viable with the DD automatically move into the could-cuckoo land area.

A Dark Field is not as good, but it does still provide a lot of function to the build without also providing super easy Stealth access.

they dont want us to be an antistealth class…if they did theyd give us way more condition removal as opposed to pidgeonholing our butts into shadow arts JUST for the condi removal…

Escapist’s Absolution should remove 3 damaging conditions on evade…not 1. i mean kitten …1 condition ?!?!?

Well start off with the staff attacks then move to the utilities followed by the traits.
While I understand the reasoning to give the thief a supportive role with staff and a few extra dodges slapping an extra endurance bar on a thief then saying it is am elite specialization is like asking Trahearne to give your mother a card and him taking credit for it. Same goes for the tempest.
Hookstrike, while effective for what it does there is hardly reason to take stealth on a class that should be stragglers just to access one skill such as this one
The staff Punishing Strikes… While reflecting projectiles seems great it’s hardly useful since you can’t exactly time it or keep itnup to actually reflect important deadly missiles coming your way aside from hugging your opponent and auto attacking and getting this skill to acrivate during such a fluke would be just that. The access is just more of a nuisance as it is a small goal.
Dust strike has had an improvement justin the casting time but I personally fail to see why it has three separated impacts like the revanent mace skill blasts. This should either be a short duration Smokescreen skill casted outward or a linear attack like the Druid skill 4 on the staff though obviously shorter range OR even taken into account that black powder- like effect could give more up front and personal support combined with punishing strikes instead of having to back out of fights to blind from range, which might I add, is contradictory to the name “daredevil”.
Vault also has had it’s promised initiative change from six to five however aside from the tooltip OR range OR impact radius bugs this skill should indeed become an evade during its usage to “vault out” of the way or into combat. Five initiative still stresses thought of careful usage rather than spam of the skill. Interestingly enough you can’t steal while in midair which means no one can directly port to you either because you are in the air and a No Valid Path To Target individual.
Utilities: while they currently aren’t effected by improvisation here at the concerns.
Fists of fury: good skill except it practically never hits anything resulting a need to take panic strike trait or wasting a utility slot for devoured venom or using basilisk venom. Skill needs to use melee attack assist so you could at least rotate and keep hitting your target if it circles you. Why not add a reflect projectile skill effect?!?
Bandit’s Defense great except its no where near on par with other classes’ blocks and should be at least 2 seconds to block. Even this skill can stop a backstab or earth shaker warrior.
Distracting daggers is ok however 10s penalty to enemy hardly seems enough and let alone you can only keep it active for fifteen seconds while mesmer mantras can be kept indefinitely if not used. Kind of hard to believe from a logical standpoint that you cant hold onto daggers permanently and then lose concentration on a mantra… should be 15 seconds uptime for mantras and indefinite for a physical object like distracting daggers.
Impairing daggers should act like distracting daggers and allow an individual dagger to be thrown if we want to lock down a target in a chain.
The elite im alright with. As well as the healing skill

want to get place to place? hit your F4….guess what, you used DASH….want to leap on some poor fool? F5 and VAULT dodge onto him….want to mix it up a bit with conditions? F3 with Lotus Training dodge.

Here is my Beta-Weekend 3 Feedback for Daredevil:

I had a blast playig it this time and almost couldn’t stop jumping and dashing around. I tried several different builds, sPVP, WVW and some Dungeons and I feel it was viable everywhere. Daredevil starts to play as a class on it’s own I think. (Especially with Staff)

PVE: Power/Berserk build with Staff, Bound as dodge and Signet of Malice, No Quarter and Assasins Reward for heal it is fantastic to jump into large groups and deal massive AE damage while healing yourself!

WvW: I loved to dash around. Either with Critical Strikes/Acrobatics or Trickery/Acrobatics for better condi removal with tricks. Lyssa rune and Impact Strike is nice too. Tried dual pistol which was fun, but shortbow seemed better!

In sPVP Daredevil was hard to play for me. Also 1vs1 situations where very hard for me. Maybe that is because I’m not yet used to it or haven’t found the right build – or maybe it is just slightly too weak in comparison. I think there are other better builds out there which is sad, because I really like that new feeling to thief. :-)

Staff:

feels a lot better now, more fluid:

1. autoattack felt good with decent damage (animation is a placeholder I guess?)
2. Weakening Charge: in my opinion it would be great ot have a small avoid frame here, maybe it’s just because of the animation. It is really nice to use though and damage output is great. I think in terms of How you target your enemy yet move through it, it is perfect right now!
3. Debilitating Arc: Not sure about this onw. In combination with Vault or Bound nice though. You evade backwards and Leap back on your enemy dealing massive damage. Has quite some potential.
4. Dust Strike: Feels a lot better but still a little underwhelming. A Dark field would be fantastic and add greatly to Vault and bound.
5. Vault. I don’t think it needs an evade frame but maybe slightly more damage. It still is a high risk high cost ability in my opinion which is easily interupted in the middle without doing anything. With a Darkfield on 4 it would be great too. The Animation is a lot better now, but still slightly clunky.

Dodges feel a lot better now – the animations of dash and lotus are very strange though but I think they are still playceholders, are they? It would be great if dashing backwards looked different to dashing aside or forwards!

Physicals:

Fist Flurry: I’m still having problems using Fist Flurry. I guess I’d like to see the interrupt on the first strike, not having to hit 5 times then being able to land an interrupt.

Channeled Vigor is great.

Distracting Daggers: underwheling to me, but well..

Bandit’s Defense: Very nice against single targets.

Impairing Daggers: Not worth it.

ImpactStrike/etc.: Loving it!!

Cant wait to play DD again. :-)

Dark field? …. no… smoke field yes.

Besides making Bandits Defense 2seconds long could we by any chance make it where its a option if you want to use the knock back or not? Theres times where i just want the block not to be flinged back toward my opponent who might be bursting me

i like this, sometimes you just want to block and haul kitten , sometimes you want to block then have gaint a NEW ABILITY TO KICK SOMEONE IN THE GROIN IF YOU BLOCKED AN ATTACK MELEE RANGE!!!…

Vault: the impact radius doesn’t match the actual leap target Ground-To-Target. The only way to hit anything with GTT marker is to make sure they are partially inside the middle ring as the 2nd inner ring wont work making it seem the radius of the leap impact seem shorter than tooltip. Also the leap doesn’t actually reach the marker and falls short which only makes you leap to the outter ring of your marker…always. it needs tweaking.

So far, it could be my luck but improvisation wont recharge any physical skills yet which is a bummer

Debilitating Arc: The Range dodged back looks more 250 rather than 400, did a range comparison with Vault, it doesnt seem right even if i were to half it

its been about a year since the topic of revising berserker meta was made and as far as ive seen i havent seen the topic get really anywhere other than 16 pages within said year.
Aside from having punishing AI with specific skillsets in HoT, whats to be done about non expansion content being bulldozed too kitten fast ? What happened to the gw2 BETA AI that would dodge etc?

are we catering to the newer players to only just run whats BEST?! or are we going to still throw the “play how you want and get loved for it” shenanigans ?

yeah, using FPV cannot shoot projectiles at enemies unless targeted, zooming out slightly allows this. must have in fpv!

Can we make Shadow Trap’s Active trap have an icon like stealth does? when the trap is about to go on cooldown itll start blinking? Like portal Entre has?

also terrain issues still plague shadowsteps, this trap is useless lately since it has a cooldown AND 90% of the time never ports you to your location but only 5 feet from where you are then.

why have it on a kitten cooldown after its placed then triggered via player/enemy when it barely works and ALREADY has a long cast time to interupt?

please….fix the terrain shadowstepping issues with the mesh and add this icon…

QoL Recruitment LFG TOOL

Would be beneficial to add a spot in LFG tool to recruit, and have a limited time that your message is up to give others a chance to recruit. Would be bulky but could organize it into language sections then into a PVP/PVE/PVx section so people can B-line right for what they are looking for.

German Red post said its not permitted to recruit via lfg tool btw…

but what if we could type “lf theives” in the lfg tool, then when they join ask if they want in? technically its not abusing lfg tool…

just saying it would eliminate map spam and upgrade our QoL…currently it seems like all im doing is SITTING around in a town spamming/right click and inviting tagless people, and its mindless.

Projectiles shot without a target do not go towards target you are looking at. So if you were to shoot at a foe while not targeting foe, no projectile is shot at all, unless you zoom JUST outside of FPV.

in a situation vs a shadow refuge thief i would normally aim my camera and projectiles “string” at the center and knock him out, however its not possible to do in FPV.

can we please fix this? i miss aiming with camera

The feedback is mostly repetitive from others. so its obvious what needs ta bee done :/

that idea for dust strike though….

make it like black powder cept add a whirl finisher at the end instead of projectile finisher and keep the 3 impacts but add it in whirl finisher directions, we can stay in fights with allies AND go back line with it, but make it pulse the same as black powder, however make the field longer but have a 3 second pulse for the blind 1 second per pulse. since our autoattack with staff chain 3 can be a whirl itll open up doors for combos

I personally think that aside from everyone elses repeated feedbacks on how clunky something is, is instead of actually having Dust strike send a line, forcing us out of combat to instead have our daredevil sweep in a circle, deal an aoe cleave damage, and in the process leave a smoke field AND have it send out bolts, like a whirl finisher…but these bolts penetrate like the current…well not penetrate but they have 3 impacts like the current dust strike…

so what im getting it is, itll function similar to black powder skill 5 on d/p for thief…

projectile finisher AND smoke field, but instead itll be a whirl due to the spin. now it doesnt have to have the multi impact (x3) like it does now in all directions but if it just sent bolts AND made the field(field comes first) then it would not only keep us IN the fight, but also support our allies while we are STILL in the brawl, also a nice touch for skill 5 vault, which will give us more openers to Hook Strike…sorry for the crude paint skills, but ignore the RED line on the left, was supposed to be black to indicate direction of the 3 impacts PER line. the smoke field you understand.

A year ago I formed a guild that was based around thieves only in the guild, creating speedclears for pve content and all thief teams in spvp and wvw. (see here for a basic idea: tinyurl.com/nylmgzh ) Things have changed alot and since I removed the requirement of thieves I’ve been getting alot more recruits, but not only this, I shifted my attention to helping new players or returning players in gaining familiarity with the changes of the game and teaching those newbies and taking them under wing to shape them into great players, finding what they like as far as playstyle, and building a community with them. We also intend on having THEME NIGHTS =all engi, or all necro etc or even a mix in WvW or pve or spvp or even dungeons!.

I reside on Sea of Sorrows and most of my recruits are mixed servers. I do however try to recommend Sea of Sorrows to the new players if and only “if” they haven’t any ties to the server they are on, Such as friends or family members. I then explain to them that the server they choose is based purely on personal choice. Whether they like to win all the time IE: Blobgate, or enjoy a balanced mix of losing and winning, IE: my server.

Then go into detail of the benefits of higher tier servers, such as the gathering, faster endurance gain. They all seem to just want to have fun, to be in such a community and the winning isnt the biggest concern, they just want to play! We also multigame with Steam, minecraft etc. Working on having one of our guild officers to create a website specifically for us.

DayZ, Epoch, Ark etc etc.
Some may not have other games but things are changing!

So if you are a fresh player, hit me up on here or in game.

This teamspeak is shared with another clan I run which is a multi-gaming clan for use such as Steam games etc. If you cannot get on teamspeak because a baby or someone is sleeping etc this is fine.
Representation is not 100%, though Representing ensures that we can keep the upgrades going for you guys and encourages active guild gameplay between each other. After HoT is released the guild representation will change for everyones guild, only during guild missions should you represent then, because thats the only way you could participate with a guild!

Help recruit, those of you aiding in recruiting can be rewarded in game for your hard work or at the end of each month, the officers and I will go through the roster logs and those recruits you get that stay for at least 1 week before they may leave(they may not leave) will count towards the Recruiter of The Month…which will reward you with 10$ gems in gold….to do as you wish…comes out of my paycheck lol. (Given I can afford it, otherwise I send you what I can in game)

Be active if you can, if you arent going to be on for 2 weeks or so, just mail one of us in game. We will understand and will make a rank for such things so no one gets accidentally kicked. If you are kicked for inactivity we will reinvite you immediately unless of course you are a problem.
Most importantly, speak up if you want to do something or have a question. Preferably in guild chat, this way anyone in the future with the same question will already know the answer and even be able to pass that knowledge to others!

Staff seems like it’ll be slow, possibly sword speed slow. Definitely take Quickness, preferably two. Since you want 3 phys, that means haste trait in trickery + staff has sigil of rage. Focus on interrupt would be offhand pistol, since you have leap-dodge then dagger or sword would work- however, sword is slower on autos and is initiative cost heavy. I’d go Staff-D/p. Then again, you need range- P/P.

If you are focusing on interrupts consistently, you will want Valkyrie because pulm does not crit and that means DA and CS will be nearly useless. Trickery is your class line (almost the literal meaning of mandatory traits) and then Daredevil to wield staff. That leaves Acro and SA. IIRC, staff stealth attack is a knockdown, so I’d grab SA. From SA grab stealth removes damaging conditions, steal grants stealth, stealth regens hp/init. Trick would be haste, tricks are faster, and daze on steal. My main concern is that the damage on pulm will be applied AFTER steal grants stealth like mug used to, so you might retrait to regen on stealth. I haven’t looked into Daredevil traits much, but grabbing damage+ after dodging or damage+ when endurance isn’t full would be good. Not sure what all you can grab. But that’s my end of theory crafting.

Staff- P/P (you need range, you are still squishy no matter what stats you take)
SA- Bot, Top/Mid, Mid
Trickery- Mid/Mid/Mid
DD- dmg on dodge or dmg on low endurance, dodge is a leap finisher, pulm?
Valkyrie- Lyssa runes or Adventure runes
Withdrawal, your choice of phys skills, basi or takedown
Staff: Sigil of Rage, Sigil of Intelligence P/P: Sigil of Energy, Sigil of Leeching

That’s my guess right now >.< Hope it works on live…er beta, Sep 4. Will see. Sure there is a ton wrong with it, but I haven’t seen staff in action so… this is my best guess right now. The most wonky build ever XD

no….haste trait on that trait line has a 60 second cooldown which is a waste. also the staff is actually fast, its a half a second for the autoattack chain.

Using feathers/gunk/blinding tuft etc etc while targeting an enemy forces an autoattack and when stealthed it forces you out of it…. if im stealthed and i want to remain in stealth a little longer / use an item elsewhere to throw them off target i use the item while still in stealth. when i use blinding tuft to remain stealth longer it forces me to attack(sneak attack etc) to come out of stealth anyway eliminating the whole reason i was using the KITTENINGitem in the first place. its ruining my roaming experience.

Shadow Trap currently has an internal cooldown after its either USED or forced recharge…can we please add an icon like Shadow Step/Shadow Return to notify us of when the skills is going to be forced on recharge? It would see more usage….however first can we address the link above and fix the stupidity that is NO VALID PATH?!

QoL Idea: First fix the bug where there is no need to jump yet the NO LINE OF SIGHT is still interfering with a small hill that i can already walk over preventing shadowstep.

THE BIG IDEA: Add Shadow Trap timer until it goes on recharge after 45 seconds with a range indicator. without the line of sight bug for shadowsteps being fixed we wont use this skill. You know how Shadow Step has a timer until it disappears preventing you from using Shadow Return? Well We would like that for Shadow Trap, it IS a stunbreak after all. I suggest making them have specific conditions able to apply, bleed, blind, the new SLOW, the new quickness (after release of hot obviously) and torment.

bleed for the leaking of oil/grease
blind to effect the ability to hit, say cannot locate target
slow because of “duh” and quickness too. well lubricated or not lubricated.

poison cripple etc dont make sense on turrets.

#A year ago I formed a guild that was based around thieves only in the guild, creating speedclears for pve content and all thief teams in spvp and wvw. (see here for a basic idea: tinyurl.com/nylmgzh ) Things have changed alot and since I removed the requirement of thieves I’ve been getting alot more recruits, but not only this, I shifted my attention to helping new players or returning players in gaining familiarity with the changes of the game and teaching those newbies and taking them under wing to shape them into great players, finding what they like as far as playstyle, and building a community with them. We also intend on having ^THEME ^NIGHTS =all engi, or all necro etc or even a mix in WvW or pve or spvp or even dungeons!.

#I reside on Sea of Sorrows and most of my recruits are mixed servers. I do however try to recommend Sea of Sorrows to the new players if and only “if” they haven’t any ties to the server they are on, Such as friends or family members. I then explain to them that the server they choose is based purely on personal choice. Whether they like to win all the time IE: Blobgate, or enjoy a balanced mix of losing and winning, IE: my server.

#Then go into detail of the benefits of higher tier servers, such as the gathering, faster endurance gain. They all seem to just want to have fun, to be in such a community and the winning isnt the biggest concern, they just want to play! We also multigame with Steam, minecraft etc. Working on having one of our guild officers to create a website specifically for us.

Gaile Gray, one more final question that I am sure alot of people have pertaining to this issue as well because I am DYING to find out myself. Since a guild is a group of individuals that do things together, is it possible or a violation to recruit for guilds in the lfg tool via openworld content or even in other sections if it describes what our guild does? Can we also link our guild websites or posts in there? If it eliminates flood from map chats then I’m quite sure we could at least make a guild recruitment option in the lfg tool or allow this yes? Thank you for taking the time to answer our questions.

On engineer im unable to use my kits whatsoever. its making helping my friends very difficult. i click on them and it just switches back to my main set. why have them there when i cant use them, but im allowed to use the elixers.

Also when is the revive prevention gonna be fixed? i cant help my downed team member and sometimes they cant help me, this is crap!

im no stranger to the eula but wanted some more in depth explination before i do anything.

Got a G13 from logitech and wanted to bind several keys to 1 action, my keyboard itself to one action (ie a secondary key) and the hotkey for my g13.

for instance if im not using my g13 and its hooked up id use say “e” to jump…just an example then on my g13 have G12 button as jump…. if both are set as jump for primary and secondary is this allowed? its 1 action 2 buttons and not 1 button 2 actions…some clarification would be appreciated before i screw up lol.

also i heard that instrument macros arent dissallowed and neither are they allowed but non bannable as long as its not combat related.

so, i opened this on my necro wanting the skin for my thief… selected dire for my thief but did so on my necro, now i cant equip the thing on my thief? this is the stupidest thing i have seen " soulbound on another character " … it should soulbind when i equip it, not when i stat it. now im stuck with a leather skinned aqua breather on my necro and i cant unlock the skin at all. kitten …i am NOT doing the pvp tier over again just to fix it.

We love LA and we also love our new players in learning what it used to be like before scarlet make it go “boom”. so why not get the council’s and pacts’ best mesmers and mass illusion the place and make it appear that we have LA back to the way it was at least until the end of halloween? mass enchantment the area temporarily so we can show off its previous glory.

Gaile Gray please look at this? someone? it works fine in spvp but in pve and wvw the range is bugged. when using the trapper runes it doesnt cancel the auto attack and forces you to waste a sneak attack OR forces you to auto attack as you would out of stealth.

That is the whole point of it! So you can have somewhere to go and have fun and kitten around. It’s not supposed to be competitive if it was you would see far less people there, and then you would come here to the forums and make a post on why you are upset because no one goes to Eotm.

I believe the point of EotM (or why it was made) was as an overflow map for those who couldn’t enter WvW. It was not intended to be a place to farm stuff or have a Karma train; on that note, I don’t think ANY place was designed to be that way. The fact that people are angry at someone for doing what was intended to be done is a clear indication of how perverted the purpose of an aspect of a game is, in my opinion.

i agree, input from the wvw/pvp team would be appreciated

Is it me or is the whole point of Edge of The Mists being completely blown out of proportion? Currently It’s to level up alts, which I see nothing wrong with, but the fact that people don’t care about the competitive aspect of it or how it can benefit their server with more supply and small buffs but instead would rather “Karma Farm” because the old way of farming it was nerfed.

I personally would rather see it for what it was intended for and not get chewed out for trying to defend a base and not being called “toxic”. The entire point of it was to be an overflow map for those still wanting to aid their servers.

This is turning more and more into the old Temple of Lyssa farm where you had to destroy the walls in order to progress, but instead of wanting to open the bloody temple, people fussed about the walls being torn down or lose their infinite mob Heavy Moldy Bag farm. Also seems to be a combination of that and champ training in queensdale…completely misleading to the new trial players and players that just bought the game. It’s ruining the map and the community. I want great battles and to defend darnit!…with ALLIES AIDING ME TO DO SO INSTEAD OF FUSSING ABOUT ME DOING IT AND RECOMMENDING I KARMA FARM INSTEAD!

I’m not quite a noob. But still so much to learn. I got a character to lvl80 a while back, didn’t know what to do after that. When I came back, so much had changed. The trait system… No Crown Pavillion, etc. I would love to have some more experienced ppl tell me about how I can make my lvl 80 character more awesome, and things like fractals, pvp, pve, eotm… certain dungeons I can never seem to find ppl for. I’m also helpful – as much as I can be. Azureasrai is my main character. Feel free to add me. Looking for some purpose in-game! Map completing is drudging, do you do speedy map completes with groups? or help ppl with that?

Id be glad to do that xD, i was an idiot that started map completing at 80 in Orr and went backwards, which got very boring fast. But I have been meaning to do it again so you may just help me get back into it. There will be easy ways to do dungeons now with the lfg system, but ill help you with that. groups really do make things faster.

Using these as a full set and applying a trap while using thief ( maybe on ranger too ) does successfully put you in stealth, but right after you go stealth your autoattack triggers screwing you up for a sneak attack. You dont actually get off a Sneak Attack, you just auto attack normally WHILE IN STEALTH. It needs a cancel attack feature as you go stealth as a failsafe.

skill 1 with and without stealth on thief with the Ricochet trait has 2 tooltips and may be interfering with the range. it stays 900 regardless while the other skills DO get an increase. not to mention the tooltip while hovering over the skill actually clutters the screen’s entire left side for me Q__Q

Have the commanders with hats on currently, be able to remove the wrong siege and give back the supply that was needed to create it/build it, even if finished. If the supply used gets returned to a player with full supply (taking into account of wvw traits) then they go back to the main base’s stock. the siege goes back to the original owner’s inventory.

Coordinates better siege placement and may open up trials to new players on specific tactical siege placement.
No more wasting supply by the supply return option i mentioned above
No more misclicking wrong siege by having the option for the commander to remove unnecessary siege and return to original owner!
Saving Money by no misclicked siege

In a way Commander Siege Crusher has some of the abilities.

Sides obviously chosen and taken into account: FA commander cannot return siege of a SoS server back to them.

Now what about the trolls with commander tags?

Add a commander abuse report feature…or better yet, a grief report -_- which we could use in most of the game anyway, especially since the new dungeon change to where we can kick honest party leaders that soloed a dungeon legit without exploits just to lose his own spot!

What about the Ricochet(Thief) bug where the skills dont seem to be increased range wise? The extra sneak attack tooltip that clutters up the left portion of your screen when you hover over it?

Why not have players with at least 2 level 80’s have the pre-patch experience leveling limits and those without 2 or no 80’s use the patched system?
