And I suppose you got your driver’s license in real life by not reading the rules? And yeah I did read the rules. I know Anet’s reputation of strict policies. If you don’t learn the rules one way, you gotta learn them the hard way.
Let me get this straight, you say that ‘the company is greedy and not looking out for players, only their profits’, and yet isn’t banning people a way to make a loss? Taking away players does not increase profits. It can however scare people away. Thing is, they are thinking of the best interests of the game, not their wallet. Do you know what kind of damage those items can cause when left abusable? It’s not like they are banning anybody who touched the exploit. They banning people who abused it like crazy. However I believe they should offer a way out. Item wipe of the character or account in exchange for the unban. But the thing is, the expoit has to be obvious it’s an exploit. Otherwise it can be viewed as tramping on the playerbase and cause an uproar.
As someone accused wrongly recently. It sucks, it sucks real bad. Happy to have my account back after being accused of botting. The ticket system needs some work though, having to go through banned to suspended to put in retail code to suspended to finally being able to play. I for one am worried that my farming habits(‘cuda aoe farmer) might just leave me in the same situation. What can I do its the best way I’ve found to make money out in the world solo.
It is totally understandable how you would lose all hope for the system when that kind of thing happens. I bet you would pull your hair out of your head if in a day or two you got banned again in error.

The Guild Wars 2 Naming Policy says that you cannot use that name. Ignorance is not bliss. The 3 day ban is to teach you not to ignore the rules that you agreed to upon purchasing and playing Guild Wars 2.
Usually an exploit is easy to spot when you can gain a lot with little to no effort. You won’t get banned for running into an exploit. However you will when you abuse it like a madman.
Did your dad partake in the snowflake jewelery salvage exploit? Mithril snowflake rings, and salvaged them for ectos? Doing this a couple times won’t raise any concerns with anybody, but doing it a whole lot of times when it’s an obvious exploit will result in a permanent termination of the account. Good luck getting an appeal through.
That guy who bought the game and downloaded it, was logging in for the first time ever, and found he was already banned for RMT. That there made me lol. Obviously got hacked. We just don’t know all the facts though. How did he get hacked? But still it’s a real concern.
Pretty much what I fear at the moment. These are real concerns.
You need to appeal with customer support, and hope you don’t get somebody who doesn’t care, lacks compassion, and walks strictly with policy.

And Gaile Gray says it’s not bannable to send items and gold to people. Well I find that hard to believe.
But the fact is, I don’t know if you’re telling the truth or not. It is up to customer support to handle the matter and obtain your innocence or guilt. Did you file a ticket?
So now you can get banned for other people cheating? That’s just great….. Doesn’t inspire much confidence in playing the game and feeling safe.
Please look at the how to submit a ticket – account issues thread. You need to include details that only the account owner will know from purchasing and creating the account.

They have a program that does data analysis, and raises flags according to what it thinks it sees. What then is supposed to happen next is, a team of people are meant to go around and assess if those flags are legit or not. What appears to be happening is, a level of intelligence is not being put into practice at the first assessment, and a ban is being issued on just suspicion alone. Basically it’s a spray and pray tactic. Let customer support sort it out.

This is the forum, not customer support. Patience is a virtue, even though people shouldn’t be getting banned incorrectly in the first place. Also there is no compensation for ban in error. If you don’t wanna get banned for botting, don’t play in the same location for hours. Apparently you can get banned in this game for playing the game as it’s intended. Bots can do what we can do. If you do what a bot does, you’re going to be banned eventually, even if it’s you playing the game the whole time.
Also it seems that the number of banned cases in error is a minority in comparison to the rest of the playerbase. Thus the casualties of war are considered justified probably by somebody in management. They say that they will continue to improve their flagging system. But you know what, the bots improve their game as well. And what will bots do? Bots can do anything we can do. They are data analysis as well. This will be a continual fight, and us players will become the victims in the middle. And why? Cause there are stupid people out there who keep buying gold and rare items with real money. As for relying heavily on a machine to detect cheating, and not using human intellect to assess a situation as it’s happening…… or even conduct further testing on the player to see if they will exhibit a real player response, what the?
Anyways, as for the forum ban, I suggest emailing an appeal to forums@arena.net to appeal the ban; if it’s permanent that is. Will take a month before they get to your email. Else it’s likely that when the ticket is finally reviewed and the account released, the forum account will probably get released as well. Unless it’s a temp ban. Why was he banned again?
I’m sure the people banned for false positive RMT on the 2nd and 3rd time are wondering if it’s okay to trade anything at all. Anyways, all those false positives, many more than that in legit trades are perfectly fine. Gotta keep that in mind.
You guys and your “support” are a joke. For a MMO in this day and age not having item restore and some key features almost ALL other MMO’s have is fail. I have no idea how you won any awards because the lack of support and customer service for account hacks and restoring things is almost zero.
I really doubt it’s just about returning items, and more about verifying the loss versus time spent to verify.
Customer support has helped new players in the past who have made this mistake. You’ll have to write a ticket up.

I also need to say this as well. You should realize that you are not the only person who is using customer support for assistance. Not only that, but account restoration is not something that can be slapped into place quickly. There are important procedures in place that must be carried out. Lack of reply is disheartening, but you gotta wait, realistically.

Why not program the forum to auto-reply to any mail that is sent your way, telling them generally where their info should be directed?
Software is software, there is no reason why somebody can’t make it happen.
Yeah what does happen when the hacker deletes your characters, somebody takes the character names, and then customer support goes to do an account rollback?
Why delete the characters though? It’s bad enough the hackers are in your account stealing your stuff, but also delete characters too? That’s just nasty! It’s not like deleting the characters will disguise where the gold is coming from.
Just remember that they can only do an account restoration once. Meaning if hacked again, that’s it.
Some people would argue that a strong password doesn’t mean anything. Then again I have not been hacked into yet, and I got a strong password.

They can’t attempt to login if you convince customer support to change your email, and you change your password. Changing password can be done without customer support usually, by utilizing this website. You still got your serial code and stuff? Customer support will ask you for information upon request to change email.
They can however rollback an account to a previous backup point. Maybe you used the wrong words in your ticket request.

Not sure how they’d know you were playing it real or macroing. Just assuming that anybody playing the bell really well must be macroing is plain downright wrong. Those kinds of stereotypes should be frowned upon.
Expect that all your gears are gone, and your gold.
Somebody did this to me in the game too. All I had to do was, turn my sound down. Problem solved.
That access attempt may have been what raised those flags and triggered the RMT ban. Who knows, cause Anet won’t explain to us how people are getting caught up with the RMT crowd without trading money.
No, file a ticket with customer support. There have been quite a lot of people lately who have been getting this problem. Customer support can help to identify the innocence of the account and release it. If after 3 days of no reply from customer support, try posting the ticket number in the 3 days and older tickets for review thread, along with a short description of what happened. Most games don’t care about copyright or trademark nicknames, cause nobody is going to sue for a nickname in a mmo, fps, rpg, rts, whatever it is. They are only going to care when that person starts wanting to make money with that nickname. That ain’t going to happen in Guild Wars 2.
My name, for instance, Cover Girl. I’ve had this name for 7 years with City of Heroes, another PlayNC game. It’s public domain and can’t be copy written. I’m waiting for the 72 hour ban and name change because they don’t understand the laws governing copy writes.

I have a ticket opened from November 27th. and another from Dec 5th that have not been replied to or handled as of this date.
And yet there are other tickets that get answered between 30 minutes to 3 days. It’s all a luck of the draw really.
I’m not sure how Anet detects Gold/Item RMT, but I do know that one way to find out would be to track the trades of botters. However it’s not like Anet are a bunch of soothsayers. Right now I’m too afraid to trade anything with anyone, just incase. Cause I don’t even know how the other people who appealed and got unbanned for false positive RMT ban got banned in the first place.
The fact that disabling the word filter is pointless cause if you swear, you gonna get banned. That did make me laugh hard in real life. Why are these care bears so touche? It’s just a game….. Shouldn’t it only really matter when it’s aimed at somebody with intent to harm?
The naming policy. In regards to inappropriate names, that’s understandable. But as for trademark and copyright names, how does somebody know if it is or not? And what about the future? So what if “Loli Ruri” becomes a copyright name in the future? Am I going to get a 72 hour ban and a name change, cause somebody out there wanted to copyright my nickname? Maybe I should copyright it, and then when Anet forces a name change, I can fax them my copyright ownership papers LOL. Bam!
And as for real life names…… from what I remember about real life names is, every name is pretty much taken by a real person. And what’s to stop a nickname from becoming popular in real life by somebody famous? Whoops, your nickname is now bannable cause somebody now just became famous, and yesterday was not. LOL

They are the judge, not you, nor us.
Disrespectful? Is it cause they don’t compensate for false positives? That I do have to agree is irritating. But it’s not like they promised to compensate us. I do believe that this needs work on. Players lose time due to error, and also the anger and dissatisfaction of being accused of something they hate themselves.
I also agree that some of these policies are being enforced too strongly. Relax! It’s just a game….

Well anyways, customer support can help, but only the person who is banned can negotiate it with them.
Did you appeal the decision correctly? If you don’t appeal in the correct categories, all you’ll get is a canned response.
How can you say there aren’t many real people responding to tickets?
Gaile Gray tried to tell me that just sending gold to people doesn’t get you banned. But you can understand why I would be skeptical.
Anyways, these forums can’t really help you much, you need to bring this up with customer support. Maybe you can get Gaile Gray to help you with that.
