MSI GTX 1080 Sea Hawk EK X 2xSLI 2025 / 11016 MHz, liquid cooling custom loop.
Samsung 850 Evo 500 GB. HTC Vive.
I have gotten this problem before, and the way to deal with it is to completely wipe the display drivers in safe mode, and install new Nvidia drivers. This actually worked for me.
I copied over the game, and still a problem. This time it’s 83 MB ram, and the rest is the same. It won’t work on my laptop."
e _e
Microsoft, urgh, surprise Windows 10 update install while doing a massive patch on my laptop, and it broke the game.
I tried to repair it, but no dice. So now I’m stuck waiting ages to copy over the game from another computer, because Windows 10 sucks at installing updates.
Basically what happens is, when I go to run the game, the game just hangs, and nothing happens. I open up Task Manager, and it sits there with 0% cpu, 0% hdd, and 72 MB ram.
Interesting. Thanks Healix!
Support uses the forum to solve customer problems now?

As others have said, you will either need to contact your ISP and forward the information you have, so they can help you, or use a VPN to tunnel around the bad network server.
That and there’s nothing like reading German in the map chat, and then when you speak English, somebody speaks up and tells you to get lost, because you didn’t speak German. Yeap, happened on another game.

Have you submitted a bug report about it? Or is this thread the bug report? I understand this thread is an inquiry about the issue, I’m just asking to see if it was reported or not. Thanks!~
Hang in there, I’m sure everything will be alright.
You still have rights, and as a customer, you deserve what you paid for. Just hang in there. It’s not as bad as me who is still waiting for a bitspower waterblock from Taiwan, and it’s on preorder, and I gotta wait an unknown amount of time before they get around to manufacturing and shipping. I probably paid as much as you did for the ultimate editions combined. I gotta wait a few more weeks, whereas all you need to do is wait 3 days total.
Could it be NVIDIA Geforce Shadowplay causing this? Others have found this issue to be the cause in the past.

Nobody here can help you. Ticket system is your answer! At least be grateful that this game has moderation, positive thinking. :P
I know another game where people will cheat for months, even game breaking, and then only maybe a few people get banned before a patch is done, and that’s only if somebody snitches to the company about the cheat.
Not maybe banned permanently, but will be. In all cases of chargeback, ArenaNet can no longer help you. In fact I have seen some really disturbing situations where the user of the account got screwed over due to matters outside his or her control.
24 hours is not long enough to get support. You need to wait at least 3 days. There are how many people playing this game, and you want faster than reasonable time? Be fair, come on. Payment fraud is a real issue on the Internet. More than likely you got owned by a trigger happy system that got it wrong. This is why human intervention is necessary for when things go wrong. Nobody is immune to failure. Murphy’s Law has a way of being a donkey’s rear end.

O you mean up-time in the sense of beyond what is reasonable for most MMO games. Thanks for clarification.
I want to know if these taxes are local to you, or just applied as a blanket to everybody. Also taxes are evil.
I love the posts that start “The best MMO is entirely subjective” pretty sure that’s why the OP asked for our thoughts. But I speak for all and YES it’s the best MMO today.
But saying the best, but how is it the best? Details man, they are important.
Because saying a game is the best, is not the method to convince somebody to play. And the reality is, this kind of game will not appeal to everybody.
I do believe ANET does an AMAZING job at QA when you compare the size of the company and the game. Also, the fact that their server are almost always up amazes me.
It’s not hard to improve on terrible.
Like seriously, you must have played some terrible games to consider up-time as being amazing. Please don’t take offense, this is an honest reply that you gave in regards to the industry. Quite disturbing that doing what a game company should be doing, is amazing. This is like teaching your kids to be descent adults, and then being told that’s amazing.
Comparing MMO games that are descent, is like comparing a Ford Mustang with a Ferrari. I know some people will try and compare, but really you should not. Both are meant to be enjoyed in their own way.
Not sure about ANet TOU agreement….
But I’m sure about WoW’s…and on WoW forums, posting on behalf of a banned account is something you could be banned for…
I do feel for you though. Just saying!
Last I checked, a whole lot of people do not like Blizzard Entertainment. Things like that is what we would call, being awful to your customers.
It is worse for people in real life who already had the name “Isis” and then now you get patriotic ignorant people who say that the name “Isis” which had an entirely different meaning before, now is a terrorist name. /sigh
But yeah, who here plays this game, that was ACTUALLY alive from the Holocaust days? Who is actually offended?
Just kind of stupid to choose a name that is controversial. Ban is a bit over the top, but a suspension, sure.
Interesting, I found this thread on the Internet with the same error as yours. You could consider reading up on it.
Do you have more than 1 account tied to the same card?
I want to know how this is considered as fraud risk.
What’s the point of this thread? OP wants to point out corruption. Well duh, companies are made up of humans, and humans are not reliable generally speaking. Could be an honest mistake. Everybody else is like, contact customer support, else kittens.
Wow he is right, it’s malware. kitten !~
Then has issues with a character named Personal Stalker.
Yeah, I’d say there’s more to this story. Care to come clean, OP?
Maybe with all that personal stalking, he needs a shower.
Did the OP even contact support? Curious to see the result. Also name isn’t offensive, so go figure. Stalker could mean anything. Context can mean anything. But I know one thing, it doesn’t mean something relating to real life. And I know for a fact, the name isn’t the action, it’s just a name.
Have you tried reinstalling the video drivers? I have had the black screen issue before, and reinstalling the drivers did help me. Since it costs nothing to reinstall the video card drivers, you could give it ago.
I’ve got a 250 watt power supply in the second display. The first one has a 212 watt supply. I don’t think it’s a power issue, because as I’ve said I changed the second one last week.
I only have had problems since the recent updates. Once all the screen refresh stuff is done, it finally settles down and I can use the second display as normal.
I’ve also tried repairing the clients on both Mac OS X and Windows 7.
I was more referring to your computers power supply to your video card. It was sounding it like can’t keep up.
OP should look at this thread then:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/348043-33-graphics-card-power
I can see your name and IP address. You might want to omit that details.
Please tell us in detail the steps you take, up until the crash. What do you see, what do you do?
Glad you had this fixed. Yes shadowplay will do that. It’s a problem. :U
Need more information:
What hardware are you using to play Guild Wars 2?
Do you have the latest drivers?
What OS are you playing on?
Was this bug always on this machine, or did it come after a certain patch, or just randomly appear one day?
The fact that you can run the risk of getting banned over gold being sent over the mail, should ring alarm bells. Either to clear up misconceptions in the community, or to have policy reconsidered. People should not be afraid to use normal game mechanics.
Anyways, 1 gold isn’t a lot for an entry fee, and you can’t expect people to always hand out something for free, especially if there is nothing to gain for the sponsors. Take for example a guild hosted event. The idea of them running an event would be to advertise their guild and community. This can help bolster numbers for the guild, because of advertising. Thus an event that is sponsored by the guild would be beneficial. But if there is no way to gain sponsors for your event, then either you have to dig deep into your own pockets for your amusement, or ask for an admission fee. As long as the admission fee isn’t absurd, then people will be okay with it, because the risk is low. Even I have a few gold lying around. Plus if there is an admission fee that is reasonable, people are more than likely to attend, making a great turnout for the event, due to commitment. If you want to go with an entry fee, the event has to work on hype to give the event worth, then the fee needs to be reasonable, thus people don’t feel like the risk is too high.

Normally it works, so the reason for the freezing, who knows.
You need to repair the game.
Make a shortcut of the game exe, right mouse click that shortcut you made, go to properties.
This is what my repair shortcut looks like:
Target: “C:\DATA\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe” -repair
Start in: “C:\DATA\Guild Wars 2”
Happy gaming!
You could try turning the Shader Cache off in Nvidia Control Panel. It caches the data onto your HDD or SSD, and thus every time it goes to access it, you get that freeze effect. It is meant to save your CPU from having to do the same calculations again, however sometimes accessing from HDD or SSD is slower than the CPU. Not in every game will it be a problem. In fact I bet the reason why GW2 is impacting you, is because your resolution is 2K, combining with the caching of the shader data onto your drive.

You could try that shortcut with the additional text that does a bypass of launcher. You do have to include the login and password in the shortcut code.
You’re better off appealing it than waiting the 3 days. Because the next time they hit you, it will be a week, then a month, then who knows, maybe forever?
This thread is still here a year later, and yet they still have not improved the UI at all to work with 4k or even 5k resolutions. They even said they will be getting some 5K displays in-house.
38c hot? XD
80c or higher is hot.
Wow, I remember a long time ago waiting 6 months for a ticket to Nexon to get a reply. And yet kids these days can’t wait a couple days tops.
I wonder if you have ever modified the MTU setting of Windows. Default is 1500. Setting it too low can cause issues, even though lowering it is done by gamers to reduce latency problems.
Reshade and master effects. :P
But yeah black screens will happen on whatever you use or don’t use.

I’m still wondering how I am dodging this problem on both my laptop and desktop.
390 or 390X?
Cause the 390X makes my MSI GTX 980 Ti Lightning look expensive, and is biting at the heels so to speak in regards to performance.
Ah yeah the stats in my sig. 4001 x2 = 8002 MHz. That’s the memory clock.
(edited by Loli Ruri.8307)
Lol yeah they make it so that the first slot is 16x and the others are 8x or 4×.
I think if I got hacked, I’d want Anet to ban my account, so the problem is halted, until I can contact them and get back access.
Just use the support portal above or below this website, and contact them, don’t make multiple tickets, be patient.
If updating drivers is not the way to go, why not just reinstall the current drivers? Has fixed problems for me before.

Did they forget?
GW2 @ high/ultra settings at 4K resolution with 60FPS is easily achievable with 980Ti, TITAN X, etc.
Its also achievable with a single 290, 290x, 390, 390x, 295×2 and the Fury, FuryX, Fury NANO all cheaper then the 980Ti/TitanX.
So basically what you’re trying to say is, Nvidia is ripping off it’s customers. I actually have to agree there.
Now I know my monitor only does 1080p, but I’d love to play with some higher resolutions, because a higher resolution will always beat any anti-aliasing hands down. But with the crappy support for interface sizes, ignoring the fact that the interface is garbage in comparison to other titles, what can we do?
Did you try adjusting the settings to make it more appealing to you?
How come you’re not also using master effects along with reshade?
