Change IP address? You mean fake location in the world so that you get routed traffic through different servers in the hopes the file will arrive? That’s why people use a VPN to fix this problem.

ANET can we get some clarification on this one, as this could indeed open up more than a few cans of worms for players.

Because if it’s true that it happened to him, then it reveals that on this game it is possible to grief others with bot gold. He will want to contest this anyways, because the incident is a strike against his account. It does impact on that account in the future, and potentially other accounts associated.

There was some person here some time ago that say they got grief by some person buy gold and send to them. Anet show it was a lie and player buy gold from gold seller. I can not find this post now but I remember this.

Never believe what person say when they say innocent. From what read in this forum most time they are not.

Turns out the person got their gold back from Anet. Nice try btw, because I was pointing out that if there was any facts, Anet is the people who can fix the problem. I don’t have any decision making abilities, and this is just a public forum. 2nd pointing out that it is possible to grief players with gold dumps from bots. At least ArenaNet knows about it now.

I have seen youtube videos where they have assembled a cheap computer that can handle games better than Guild Wars 2 in regards to requirements. I can’t tell you how to get that money. Your computer parts don’t even need to be new. Second hand parts are super cheap if you don’t get ripped off in the deal. Yeah sadly some people think their stuff from a few years ago is still worth close to what they paid for, when really at most it’s reasonable to say it’s probably worth only $40 bucks tops. Last I checked, you don’t need a 980 Ti graphics card to run Guild Wars 2. In fact most games can be played really well on a 760 reference design model. Those are cheap enough to reach and obtain. I know there are some i7 CPU chips out there that people no longer want, that would work really well for Guild Wars 2, be easy to get your hands on. Hell you could just try for an i5 CPU. Just make sure to arm yourself up with knowledge, and make sure the parts are compatible. You can check parts online to see what works. I however recommend not cheapening out on a descent power supply. But get a power supply that works within the scope of power that you are planning to use, plus 200 watts. Anything more than this is just blowing money out your rear for no good reason. Budget computers don’’t really need to worry about huge hardware expansions in the future.

This is why I would have contacted customer support in the first place and confirmed the payment type. At least if something went wrong, you could use their wording against them as a means to get leverage, if they stuffed up and lead you up the wrong payment method. You could try contacting paysafe, or alternatively find one of the Guild Wars 2 approve resellers and buy via them. I hope you get a solution to your problem.

And they are not already?

Might as well suggest they hire a soothsayer while you’re at it. Like seriously, if they knew how to fix it, wouldn’t they be already?

And introducing somebody new, wouldn’t they likely not know anything about the architecture of the programmed game client or servers? Like even if they have a background and experience in the language used for programming the game, and software engineering, they’d have to at least study the code over and figure out relationships between different parts of the software. We are talking literally hundreds of thousands of lines of code here, even if we ignore some of the obviously not related causes of the issue. And then we’re talking about people with different systems and installations. We are not even talking about how some people use 3rd party modifications that could also be breaking their game.

Best thing they can do atm is, gather bug reports from people, including the crash log, as well as system specs. Because if the game supports dumps of error information, a developer can see where the problem potentially might be, or at least a starting point.

Okay if that does not convince you, let me tell you this. The game works perfectly fine on my computer. But to other people, no it does not. So why is that? Well that’s something to figure out why. It’s not as if they can, wave a magic wand. It requires time and effort, patience as well.

Thank you for understanding, and apologies for your frustrations. U _U

Rely on bots to flag accounts, that is good. However then simply removing gold without and proper checks after that, should NOT be happening.

There should be a log of you sending it back. Getting it cleared up with customer support should be possible. If you get issues tho, request that you get the attention of a head admin to investigate and return gold. You should also request that the person who deliberately attacked you be also suspended for harassment and abuse of the system. More than likely the person who did this to you simply went to the bot site and put your IGN in as the recipient of the gold. This is an old strategy that bullies have used in other games, to get legit people banned.

I doubt you have anything to worry about, you should be able to get your gold back, because there are logs of you sending the gold back to the kitten who sent it.

Would it be crazy if players couldnt send gold to each other via mail? At least it would solve a lot of frustration on all ends, though i could see why many also wouldnt like it

Then they would use something of equivalent value that the recipient could then sell on the TP.

PC Build reality check needed

No such thing as future proof, because to say “future proof” is to say that you are now no longer affected by possible future events. However the proper term is to say “future relevant hardware” because into the near future, your hardware is relevant to the current technologies being deployed into the gaming market place. World of Warcraft does upgrade their engine to utilize newer technologies, but it’s not as if they are doing it regularly, you should be okay there. Guild Wars 2 is the same, but again, I don’t think people have to worry too much about their machine working today, but tomorrow, or maybe next year, not good enough. For both games, if your current pc can do it now, it will do it later too.

Your parts you suggested, if you can do that, or better, you are doing really well, especially if you assemble the pc yourself, which is easy to do, as long as the parts are compatible.

Words of wisdom, don’t cheapen out on the power supply. Go for a 980 for 4 gigs of vram, games will commonly start using that, and unless you just want to stick with Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft, you will want 4 gigs of vram. And how much more does it really cost?

You can get a micro ATX case, but check out ones that reviewers have shown on youtube, and see if there is one that fits your needs and space requirements. If that helps with confidence.

I recommend at least a cheap SSD for Windows and you could run Guild Wars 2 and World of Warcraft off it as well. Then just get a HDD for general storage. If you can’t do the SSD now, just get one later when you can afford it, and mirror windows OS over to the new drive, or install it there.

Dronikal you’re in a fight with a few dozen people in an area with some sketchy optimization. My issue is persistent in all game modes with no discernible reason why.

Staring at the floor in Auric Basin in an area with 1-2 people was about 3 FPS.

3 fps with that cpu, ahhhh, is your CPU throttling down to 800 MHz or something?"
Which would make no sense at all. What does CPU-Z say when you are playing Guild Wars 2? I kinda doubt the GPU could be throttling to cause that low fps, cause if it was, wouldn’t there be more FPS with that situation? Because the main factor for GW2 for FPS is the CPU. Even a throttled GPU from my experience can push out way more than 3 FPS.

Although yes WTFast does somewhat resemble a VPN, it however carries across your actual IP address along with the VPN IP address.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Banned-for-gold-selling-what-the-hell/4829933

As for WTFast using your actual IP, it’s basically disabled while you’re logging in. It then activates and hijacks your authenticated session. While actually playing, ArenaNet will see WTFast’s IP. For ArenaNet to actually see your IP while tunneling, they would have to be acting as the end of that tunnel, as in an extension of WTFast.

That’s pretty much it. But I kept it simple.

Loli Ruri.8307

Using a VPN is okay, however it carries a risk due to the fact that you’re sharing an IP. If a bunch of bots are on the same IP for example, ArenaNet will ban all accounts linked to that IP. Simply put, there’s a 1% chance you’ll be banned for a few days for no reason.

If you’re experiencing packet loss at some point on your route, yes, a VPN can solve that problem. You’ll need to select a VPN server so that the route you take is no longer going through the problematic network. If it’s on your ISP’s own network however, you might not be able to.

That’s not completely true. Although yes WTFast does somewhat resemble a VPN, it however carries across your actual IP address along with the VPN IP address. This is because Guild Wars 2 is a WTFast supported game. If you wish to learn more, I suggest reading up about the feature on the WTFast website.

It is better, but what windows is it using? Can you afford that extra amount? That CPU could be better. But that’s because I know how to build a computer, I would have gotten a 4690K or a 4790K. But I bet if you go for a prebuilt system, they will ask for your arm and leg for that, even though the CPU on the street price alone is affordable. But it will do just fine, 3.4 ghz is very good for gaming.

Go with that and you will be happy. But what Windows is it using? Is it Win10?

You’re better off building a system, rather than a laptop. You get more performance per euro/dollar spent, and you have upgrade expandability. Only go for a laptop if you can afford something that isn’t a steaming pile of kittens in an alley. If you do go for a laptop, go for one that has skylake. Haswell is a bit hot under the lid, and doesn’t offer the new features that skylake does offer. Make sure before you consider a particular model of laptop, to see what the reputation of the laptop is. Does it have problems with breaking hinges? Does the keyboard die? Does the monitor have flickering issues? I’m not talking about the low chance of breaking, I’m talking about consistent faults across the board.

Don’t be scared out of building a system, you do have help here. Start first with your CPU, then choose a motherboard that is compatible. Ask yourself what you want to put on the motherboard, and then look for a board that supports those parts. In your case, any board will support generally what you want, as long as it is the correct socket that matches the CPU.

Ask us questions if you get confused or want advice.

I’m going to play only GW2 cause I never play single player games or other. Always MMO. But Loli Ruri, is that PC (from my link) is enough to enjoy game on around 50 fps in-battle (PVP, PvE) ?

It will run the game, but I think you are paying too much for the parts they are offering, even with a free Windows 10.

You got to remember that Guild Wars 2 may expand on the requirements to run, as well as you may delve into other MMO games, which btw, are now utilizing DirectX11, Directx12, Vulcan, basically stuff that is now demanding more from a computer for amazing graphical returns.

Just be careful when buying, because the sky is the limit for computers, and you can literally spend as much or as little as you want. Don’t go overboard, but at the same time, don’t shoot yourself in the leg and buy inferior parts. For example, that NVIDIA GeForce GT 710 that the Dabs Ireland website offers is a piece of steaming kitten . You could easily do better with a Nvidia GTX 960, especially if you assemble the parts yourself. If a little kid on youtube can assemble a computer, hell even I can with a lil reading or watching how on youtube, then I’m sure you can too. There is a wide variety of websites out there that can show you how, and also help you to choose parts that are compatible.

One last thing I forgot to mention when choosing parts, make sure you don’t cheapen out on the PSU, but then again, don’t choose features you don’t need. Check the power requirement of the main components that are in your system, then add 200 watts on top, and then you have what you need for a power supply. Only go for a Gold 80 plus power supply, and buy from a reputable manufacturer. If you cheapen out, and the power supply blows up or died, it can potentially take the rest of your computer with it’s death. Yes that does happen.

Either get a 4690K or 4790K (4790K has Hyprethreading), but check the price difference, haswell CPU, or look into skylake. As long as it’s a “Quad Core CPU”. Just remember if you go with skylake, you need to consider the extra cost of DDR4 memory, over the price of DDR3. Skylake compatible motherboards do not support DDR3 as a general rule. Make sure you buy a motherboard that has the correct socket that matches the CPU you buy. Don’t spend too much money, and try and save it for the graphics card, if you plan to play other games. One last thing, it would help to invest in at least a cheap SSD to install Windows onto. It really makes a computer so much more enjoyable when it starts up immediately, rather than you waiting just for it to boot up. And you can put Guild Wars 2 on it as well if you like, for that more responsive data load when resources are coming into the game from off storage. You really shouldn’t bother with hyperthreading, not worth it when you could use the extra money towards other parts in your system, not unless the cost between that CPU and another CPU is only a few dollars more. Weigh up the cost versus gain. Hyperthreading is 30% more, but only as long as a game supports using it. When buying RAM, make sure it is compatible with the motherboard you are using it on. If you are buying more than one stick of RAM, make sure it is the channel type that your motherboard is telling you, either dual channel, triple channel, or quad channel. Your motherboard will tell you in the specifications. Download the manual to find more information, or check a spreadsheet. When considering the speed of the ram, also consider the fact that the faster the ram runs, the more loose the timings. It has been shown that really fast ram will perform no better than slower ram with good timings. I find it’s beneficial to go with ram that is at middle ground, and put the money somewhere else that needs it. If you don’t know what I mean here, just check online, people have explained it, including youtube videos like at LinusTechTips.

I bet it would be frustrating to have your account closed and you know you didn’t cause it, and at the same time, getting ignored tickets. But I know there are probably others here who actually did something, and are trying to wiggle their way out of a tight situation.

Before you go out shopping for a CPU, please consider if you want to keep your motherboard and possibly even the RAM. A CPU has a socket type, and certain motherboards have supported socket types to match that CPU. Think of it like how a triangle won’t normally fit into a circle. Has to be compatible parts. Easy to work out, and in fact, some websites make it super easy to see what works with what.

Also highly doubt AMD and Intel mix. Can’t have an Intel CPU into an AMD board, and you can’t have an AMD CPU into an Intel board. It just doesn’t work. It’s like crossing the streams in ghost busters.

Last time I had a 32-bit computer was many years ago. 64-bit seems to be the master computer race these days, and it’s becoming very common place. This game is also becoming problematic to RAM limitations. Just check the size of the game on your HDD or SSD, and ask yourself, can that load into 32-bit ram limitations without eventually running into problems?

Not what you want to hear, but my trick was to buy a MSI GTX 980 Ti Lightning graphics card. :P

And then when I got it, I found out my case couldn’t fit it. Tin snips, and some moving around of my hard drives in the hdd bay, and it could fit. Then I had to put in the appropriate fan for direct hdd cooling, intake and outtake fans for cooling the massive titanic of a GPU. Works great.

Just saying, if you want the best settings of all, raw power will win.

Then again my laptop has a Nvidia 840M, and it runs on max settings too, and I have no issues with running around the game with reasonable fps. Makes me think that the more important thing is the CPU, which other people say is important for Guild Wars 2.

Again, IP address has nothing to do with identity. Here’s two reg keys I found by googling that you can use that are available with zero effort:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\MachineGuid
Your computer logs in to one account, then that same computer logs into another. From where is irrelevant. Anet has no physical presence at this computer, so what do they do? Refer to my example about using a friend’s unlocked PC and account why “it was my friend” won’t fly. By your expectations that cheating account would be unbanned on the sole word of “it was my friend”.
Or perhaps you forgot that the P in PC stands for Personal?

So basically you’re saying, tough luck. I can’t treat guests like that. It’s not as if I shared an account, but I should not be held responsible for somebody elses actions, especially if ArenaNet looked at logs and saw they go home and play on their own computer. And what about Internet Cafes? Good grief, the idea of banning by association even if very vague, is just stupid.

deltaconnected.
They don’t have to log into your account. They just have to be on the same IP address, and at some point log on while on your computer or laptop. Logs should show that they go home and log in a lot more at home, but it’s a matter of CS actually bothering to check details.

There should be no reason why I should be held responsible for somebody elses actions. And no I would not lend my car out to somebody else, that’s the same as account sharing. What I’m talking about is, basically guilt by association, simply put, they were there for a while, so therefore by proximity, you must be guilty as well. You should check up on the anti-bikie laws here in Australia, and how flawed the logic really is when applied.

Not always is it a matter of sharing accounts, but rather sharing computers or same IP address. So ya know. I have never let somebody else log into my account. But I have had friends over who have played on my computer, and one of them has a guild wars 2 account. So what now? Are we supposed to scan in our driver’s license and birth certificates? Err no.

I am sure you’ll agree that false positives happen EVERY time you do ban waves no matter how much you try to check.

Cheating on 2 of your 9 accounts got all 9 of them banned.

How did you determine that he owned all 9 accounts, and that you didn’t just ban a pile of people? I am still concerned about the whole IP address issue.

They won’t divulge all of that to prevent the botters and hackers from developing methods to get around that.

But if he’s telling the truth, his account sharing with friends is what’s got his account flagged. And well, account sharing is against the TOS so I wouldn’t expect leniency.

Um, but you do understand that a computer nor an IP address cannot simply be used on their own to determine the identity of just one single person. This is why the whole idea of banning all associated accounts is stupid, because it’s assuming that they all are one person, because a good number of times, it’s not. ArenaNet are not a bunch of soothsayers. I’m afraid that there may be the slight possibility that one day I could end up being banned for somebody elses actions, if the wrong situation were to arise. I certainly don’t want that, and the idea of FUD ruining my gaming experience, I don’t want that either. Being cold shouldered by customer support, and treated like as if CS is a bunch of soothsayers that have a flawless victory going on, is utter stupid. Computers are not infallible, nor are people. Their policy is proving to be a terrible choice. Why? Let’s consider the whole statement given to those who first appeal, and then are told that they are confident in the ban, only to have it later revealed on reddit that the ban was later reversed. So how were they confident in the first place? Nice copy-paste btw. That message although meant to intimidate actual cheaters, actually hurts legitimate customers. Again, computers and people are not infallible. But we still need to ban cheaters. But the whole banning entire account lists on suspect single ownership is very risky business.

Another thing that really gets under my skin, is the trend for publishers to not report the reason for the ban, other than be vague. Try that in a court, and unless the prosecution is saying the inability to reveal evidence is because of national secrets, the case won’t fly in court. In fact, that’s one of the reasons I hate the whole loophole to deny evidence based upon national secrets. You cannot defend yourself without an idea of what you are dealing with. All you can do is, say all that you know, and then cross your fingers and hope that somebody cares to check further, and be polite. Being polite does encourage somebody to wanna look further. Anyways enough rant, us players can only talk about it, not change anything. Happy gaming to those who can play.

This is their stance on Multiboxing, and has been since Day 1 as far as I’m concerned.

Chances are if you are multiboxing, whatever application you used to launch GW2 multiple times is getting flagged right now. This is something that the GW2 team needs to look into, and give community feedback on.

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Policy-3rd-Party-Programs-Multi-Boxing-Macros/first#post1532762

Dual- or Multi-Boxing

You may use more than one account at the same time.
You may use more than one computer at the same time.
You must be actively playing on each account.
And as stated above, you may not program your keyboard to perform functions on more than one account at a time.
a. For example, if you press W on your keyboard to move forward, a single character on a single account should move forward. The keystroke or mouse click should not perform functions on more than one account.

And i do exactly this. I used 2 accounts on same pc and i manually controlled them by alt-tab pressing between the 2 windows in borderless windowed mode.

I am really feeling down atm, because i am at the mercy of some random person that refuses to let my ticket go further. Changes their words and uses my words against me by twisting them.

I sent them the file i use to open 2 clients, told them i use my mousewheel to click open bags as the only thing that could be considered automation EVER. And result was that i was not told ANY detail, and instead of being banned for one thing now i was told i am being banned for automation cause i said i use mousewheel to click open bags.

I dont know what we need to do to gain attention from a GM that is capable of changing false bans.. everybody tells they keep trying till they get to a senior GM otherwise you are out of luck yet i was told that they’ll instantly close ANY tickets i make on this matter. I never got that chance to get a 2nd review..

Being banned for a mousewheel makes no sense at all, especially since their detection system never detected it. They failed miserably if you are to be believed. I doubt it’s simply a case of IP address, since if they did that, that’d be insane. Some places 1 IP address is a whole town, a whole housing complex, a whole huge building. I don’t think they’d be insane enough to just go off IP address alone, and if they did, shame on them. :S
