The impression that I am getting is, Anet is dishing out medicine, and it sucks and tastes awful, and some people will want to stick it to the man for making such awful tasting stuff, and the will to hide behind a flame shield is strong. Who would you send out into the furnace to die? Every word you use will be used against you in a forum of public humiliation. Even though these forums are moderated, such moderation can be used against them.

Even I can see that they want to do this and kitten everything else. Nothing will deter them from victory, and maybe later down the road, we may for example, get a slider to turn those effects up. But not after a couple years of misery for the sake of a few. Not unless they win us over to the idea of less being more, with more than a pitiful tiny spark for a fireball, and an aura that is almost invisible and hard to discern.

People who are enjoying their employment, or enjoyed and moved on, won’t go onto some random website on the Internet to post about their positive or unbiased experience and review. People however do when they wanna complain. Also the system is probably subject to abuse by bogus people making falsified claims. After all, some people want to watch the world burn.

Fist thing they must listen is : Stop trying to make this game become an E-Sport like MOBA . This is MMORPG . Focus on WvW , contents , storyline , event , …. Those are strengths of their game .

MMOs are dying rapidly. Even WoW is dying. It’s down to 3 million now (in one quarter!). MOBAs and Esports is where the money is currently, but even that is dying now too.

I don’t believe either is dying. It’s just that the market is now much more widespread. A kiddy pool turned into an olympic swimming pool, and then expanded out into the Pacific Ocean. There are just not enough players to fill all those games. Saying it’s dying because WoW has only 3 million now, or because e-sports was the latest craze, is not proof of anything.

I don’t really understand the complaints. I, honestly, think there is yet more work needed on the visual clutter side of things in combat. I’m tired of seeing nothing but skill effects when I need to be able to see enemy attack animations.

Except the fact that for a good number of skills, the effects is the attack animation, and thus removing the effects is basically removing the ability to see any attack.

Good visual clarity, you cant even see auras now! Great job nerfing thief because that was totally needed! Thanks for adding precursor scavenger hunts, but maybe next time you should check and make sure you can complete them? Amazing new specializations, these “equal” specs are now part of every classes core build, overloaded in every possible way! Amazing work adding 10x more cosmetics to the gemstore than that were available with the expansion! Oh and need I mention fractals, what great design and rewards, so happy that I dont have to run dungeons OR fractals anymore!

I know you are trying to be sarcastic, but it’s hard to read it as sarcasm when it’s text. In fact, Anet might read it as actual legit “amazing” and miss the /sarcasm.

We all know that the removal of “visual noise” is only for the benefit of PvP Tournaments, and so it should not apply to PvE players at all. All we are asking Arena Net to do is to restore the full special effects for all professions & elite specs to PvE.

I’ve been a loyal GW player since 2005, but, because of this, I am losing interest in playing. These visual nerfs are like removing color from a rainbow; the heroes of Tyria have lost their majestic power & splendor.

Seriously, Arena Net, please rethink & address this issue. Say something…

But the effects are useful in pvp….

I got the feeling that whoever decided this, doesn’t fully understand the relationship between graphical effects and player engagement. They probably thought that graphical effects were only a pretty thing that could be done away with. However end of day, 2 things, the effects actually served a real combat practical purpose, and now the immersion is broken beyond disbelief.

This nerfing of graphics animations which was a game mechanic, not simply pretty effects, the nerfing of dungeons, the introduction of elitist raids which encourages meta perfection play, and lack of substance in the expansion, I just don’t feel motivated to play. Sigh.

i5 and i7 are both gaming worthy. Imo you’re better off getting an i5 and putting more money towards a better GPU, not because this game needs it, but because most other games do. Or if you don’t have an SSD for your rig, try getting one. Guild Wars 2 runs really well off an SSD. I know because I have one in my system.

The distance between the USA and Australia is an issue for joining up with the rest of the world. Otherwise the other option is to be isolated into a small community that at least has the whole TP market to play with, but otherwise is too few. Would WvW be even possible?

Otherwise the only way to make it work is to put a direct line between Australia and the USA that has no server hops between. Or reduce as many physical server hops as possible. Because if there was only you and the destination with no server hops between, if this was possible, you would have a theoretical ping at the speed of light. But because there are many servers between you and the game, there is delay.

But you can already reduce the number of server hops using services such as wt.fast. Advantage of wt.fast is that on login, your actual IP address is sent to ArenaNet, so that way there is no suspicious behavior based upon IP address.

ArenaNet themselves have also been implementing software prediction, which to a certain extent, tries to account for latency, to make things more accurate to when they happened. You could look around these forums for more info posted by ArenaNet about the technology. Actually quite a few good games are using such technology.

Have you tried a traceroute to the game? If one of the server hops between you and the game is having trouble, you may want to change your DNS setting to point to a different address, to make it so that when you talk to Guild Wars 2, you are taking a different route. At least this is sometimes one of the methods to change server hop directions. The other is a VPN, such as wt.fast.

Game didn’t drop to low FPS when I was using either single 760 reference or dual 760 reference SLI. Same CPU as I have now. And now that I use a GTX 980 Ti Lightning GPU, the game still has no FPS issues. It makes me wonder if it is either a driver issue, either with DX9, Visual C++ Redistributable, GPU driver, or something else, or that the RAM and/or video card needs re-seating, or checking via memory testing. The problem is, it’s all a guessing game as to what could be causing the problem. It might even be that the game itself needs to be repaired. Make a shortcut of the EXE and then after the first address in properties, put this after, should look like this, but of course according to your install address: “C:\DATA\Guild Wars 2\Gw2-64.exe” -repair

I wouldn’t say it’s as easy as building a lego. I have a friend who puts mine together and usually watch to learn. I think I have the bascis down but when it comes to the BIOS I won’t touch anything.

I’m afraid of screwing it up.

But yeah…if you can avoid pre-built, do so. It’s worth it.

Just grab your smart phone, open browser, and while in the computer’s bios, read up on the features you see that you don’t get. You will learn a lot about your computer, and soon will be the master of the bios. Usually motherboards these days have safety features in place that stop you from blowing your computer up. If you run into trouble and it can’t boot, just reset the cmos, either with a push of the cmos button, or trigger the jumper pins by putting a screwdriver between while the system is powered down, but not turned off at the wall. Don’t clear the cmos when the system is running.

Shouldn’t it have been in the A2 slot from the beginning? You only use B1 when you have 3 or more RAM sticks to integrate into the system. Anyways, the order to use them in is normally color coded on most motherboards. You start with the same color, and then after you have more than 2, you then use the other color slots.

Do not buy a prebuilt computer from a shop. Not only are they made with crappy and inferior parts, but they are way over priced. Save your money and your heart, learn how to build a computer yourself. Or look at the many setups on Youtube for gaming rigs that you can also follow. They show you full guides on setup and installation, as well as which parts you need for the build, and the required tools to use. Please consider which one you want to do, and then post here back in this thread, and we will try and assist you.

In every single case where I have seen this issue, changing the graphic settings does squat nothing.

Sadly no specific guide will be able to tell you exactly what to do. Most we can do is, give you ideas on what to try to troubleshoot it. Since you are on a laptop, not sure if you can re-seat the ram. Some models let you access the RAM to re-seat it into the PCB, others do not unless you unscrew it. Do not unscrew it if you still have a warranty, and the access to ram is not a feature.

You could try reinstalling the graphics drivers. This has helped other people in the past.

You could try doing a repair of the guild wars 2 files. Google how to do that.

What computer are you using? Desktop/laptop? Brand/model?
What are the conditions that you play the game within? Summer? If it’s a laptop, where is it sitting? If it’s a desktop, is the case open?
Are the fans spinning up? You can setup a fan curve in MSI Afterburner, and then enable it to use that.
What is the Graphics Card that you are using?
