I suggest turning hyperthreading off, you’ll get more performance per thread by doing that anyways (unless you got smart hyperthreading), and if not, your CPU is probably parking. Hyperthreading actually makes the CPU hotter when in full load and stress, I know from overclocking i7 CPU cores. If that’s not quite enough, you should be able to regulate the multiplier on the CPU by using something like ThrottleStop, don’t need to mess with bios that way. If you really want to try this, you could try getting your warranty to work for ya, get the fan to be re-seated on the CPU with new thermal paste. Over time thermal paste actually loses effectiveness, more so with cheap thermal pastes. Yes 6 months is enough time with cheap thermal pastes.
Well I know they can give you items in the game. However there are rules that govern what a customer support operator can do.
How exactly did you lose the email? You might have options available with the email provider to recover that account. What about the Anet customer support team? Can they help you to change the email? Do you have the necessary information to prove that you are the owner of the account in question? I suggest that you read the information provided in this readme thread here.
Was your ticket clear and concise? To them, time has value. Can’t always blame customer support.
I don’t know any other business model where it’s acceptable to say “Sorry for taking your money and giving you nothing back, better luck next time”
Actually from my reading of the lastest ToS that you must agree to upon playing the game, the Gems have no actual real life money value, even if you paid for them with real money. So according to the ToS, losing gems means losing $0.
Usually they’ll answer within 3 days tops. A lot of times people have found that they answer on the same day, within hours, but don’t rely on it. If after 3 days, you can always post your ticket number in the sticky thread here.
keep in mind you have only 1 chance to restore your account if i remember well what Anet said about it, and so i highly suggest you to save this solution if you really need it example if your account get hacked.
10g is not a big money, i know it takes time to do this but trust me is not worth spend the account restore for just 10g.

Actually gaile has said that they will do more than 1 rollback, but it requires them to be convinced. Cause I’m sure they are not going to hold it against you cause 3 years ago you got a rollback solution. The reason behind the once only is to prevent people from abusing the system, and tying up resources.
I saw a few other posts about this as well. You won’t get your gold back, nor any gems, sorry.
Yeah sadly all you can really do is just earn back the gold and hopefully move on. It’s a frustrating experience, and probably has left you feeling raw about it. Hopefully it won’t ruin your experience of Guild Wars 2 forever.

I like how this game does not feel like one big massive grind just to have a small bit of fun. It’s fun the moment I log in, and I’m left satisfied when I go away. I also have the freedom to play at my own pace, and the world is big and immersive.

I find it interesting that there are people who want to zoom out more in this game, yet I want to see first-person.
My question is, if it’s not aimed at somebody with intent to harm, what’s the problem? Are people that immature that they can’t handle a lil gaming language? But let’s be honest here too, do we really need that kind of language in order to express ourselves? And the answer imo is no.
I play from Australia, and anybody who knows aussie internet knows that it’s not the best in the world. Yet I do not lag in GW2. I don’t think you have anything to fear in regards to latency.

There are rules to this game that serve as a warning, if people don’t follow those warnings, they face the consequences from not following those warnings. The only time there would be a problem with those warnings is when they are either not read, or there is a misunderstanding created from the wording or interpretation of those rules. I personally found the rules to be pretty straight forward and logical.
Got the ticket number still? Guess not if the support account disappeared. I would recommend emailing them and support will open a customer support account for her. Somebody here have that email?
I really doubt they can revert it, nor would want to. Doesn’t that word mean “same”? But we’re not talking about a word here are we?

As for your password, some have said that it’s easier to change your password by doing a password recovery. Iuno why though.

Yeah I suggest talking to customer support about being hacked and getting moved back to the correct location. At worst you could play the game and save up $20 worth of gems by using gold to gem exchange (that’s probably going to take a while).

Yeah but it’s quite possible that the problem was server side and not a user base error. And for the sake of keeping customers happy, what really is the problem with reverting the purchase? Anet got it’s money, why not keep a happy customer as well?

The OP only “clicked and confirmed” 1 purchase. Considering how the purchase did not go through, it’s understandable that the customer would try again. Being charged twice is unacceptable. There is no reason why Anet should hold back on helping this customer, unless their plan is to pretty much destroy trust in their player base. Yes I understand that there is policy, but does policy also mean being heartless? What does Anet lose by returning 800 gems and removing a character slot?

I get what you mean. But it’s a good idea not to call it an offense for this situation at least. The word offense gives the impression that the player did something bad or wrong. Yes I know what you’re saying. In this case the player chose the nickname before the copyright or trademark became live, even though the player does not own the name.
Why only first time offenders? So if this same thing happened twice, second time I’d get 72 hour ban?
One more thing, what would actually prompt the name change? A player report, or would it actually require the company to contact Anet? I can almost guarantee that no company is going to care about a casual player who isn’t even making money from such a nickname in an online game. The only people who will probably even care at most would either be Anet staff who are doing their job, and people reporting players. End of the day, how much importance is placed on the rule?
One last thing? What does this apply to? Local copyright/trademarks, or international? If local, local to where?

So what happens if a player makes a character name, and a year later from making that character name, a company out there in the world trademarks it? Does that player get penalized with a 72 hour ban and forced rename?

I had a look on the Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS) and found that the trademarks “Nipper” are dead. The only things close to it that are live, are only similar in name, but not the same. If there was an issue for Nipper alone, then each of those companies with similar names should sue each other. Either way, I looked and found nothing to support your case.
Also stated that it’s upto Anet, and that the op needs to bring this up with Anet customer support.

I’m not convinced, especially when you come here and say “That’s your opiniuon” and talk about “facts” without supporting evidence. And why does it matter? Why debate this? Because this is somebody’s in-game name that has been ripped away. Yes it’s not our choice to decide, but what am I supposed to do when somebody says it’s a trademark when it’s clearly not?

It is not a trademarked name, im sorry thats completely wrong. It is simply a piece of information ABOUT the painting. The trade mark is “HMV” not nipper.

Don’t be sorry, because you are wrong. RCA was the original copyright holder to the name “Nipper”, the dog in the HMV painting, . The image in the painting was copyrighted as a logo. It is still in use, and is still copyrighted as is the name of the dog in the image.
FYI, don’t search the word “nipper” because you will only find the common meanings. Try searching RCA copyright nipper chipper (the younger version of the dog) or a combination of them. In the US, it’s a very well known logo/trademark and most of the older generation probobly remembers him much better then the younger players.

I googled the name and I checked almost 10 different sites. Google is not necessarily the promoter of all wisdom or the truth, but I guess that I didn’t miss out on many good sources. Among them at least 5 dictionaries (not necessary the urban ones, but some with a better name).

Anyways obviously this is a mistake. I know I’m not affiliated with the Anet staff, but I’m not a fool and I can see there’s nothing wrong here. Just file your ticket with as much evidence to support your claims as possible. As for the people arguing racism, I can’t see any evidence to support your claims, and I’m not blind or ignorant. And anyways it’s not up to us to judge. We can only advise the OP as to what decision to make at this point.
