ArenaNet has been known to ban everybody on an IP address. If you used a VPN service, it is possible to get banned along with other people. It’s not like using a VPN is a bad idea, because there are useful services that actually help in reducing latency, such as WTFast for example. However you share IP addresses with other people. Thankfully it’s possible to identify if somebody is using a VPN in a good number of cases, and in fact, such services like WTFast boast about how they reveal your true IP to the game server before working via their private network.

Just need to file your ticket number in the appropriate sticky thread, and close any extra tickets you have open, and keep the main one open. Creating new tickets causes the case to be pushed back.

The initial warning was in the ToS. Anet goes straight to suspensions and bans, which are more effective. Their track record is proof of this.

My graphics card in the middle of summer on liquid cooling custom loop, tops out at 42c. Of course if the overclock becomes unstable, even at such a low temperature, my graphics card can crash and thus result in the game going black screen. However, it’s just speculation at this point in time as to what could be causing it. I wonder if there are any error logs in Windows that might explain what is going on.

For now, you could try lowering the clock rate on your graphics card. Try knocking 50 MHz off the top of the existing profile, and see what happens. You lose nothing from trying at least.

Things that this game needs to make VR work

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Loli Ruri.8307

Loli Ruri.8307

If anybody here knows, virtual reality can work with this game. In fact, from playing this game in VR, I have found a new love. This game feels like a new love when playing it in a virtual reality experience. Places you have been before, feel new again.

At present, vorpX is useful for making this game into a VR experience. However the downsides are, although you can zoom out to see the bottom important icons and skills, you cannot see other important things. Take for example, you cannot see the chat, you cannot see party members, nor the menu icons. Having the grey bars along the top and bottom of the VR experience isn’t so bad tho, at least it’s possible to see the skills and boons.

You can move the chat window around in Guild Wars 2. However from my experience, you can only drag this up or down on the left hand side of the game, making it useless for VR. It would be nice if it was possible to put the chat window at the middle bottom of the screen. As it is, you cannot see it, unless you go into vorpX cinema mode. And sadly vorpX has no hotkey to do this. Gotta menu it the long way.

Holding down the right mouse button while not in combat to play in first person. Needs work. In fact, this is something that could be worked upon in general.

It’s not really that hard to make the game more virtual reality friendly. We are not talking about difficult changes. The UI just needs an overhaul, and would benefit more than just virtual reality gamers, but everybody. Wouldn’t you love to be able to customize your play space? Camera fix without right mouse, can easily be done for those who want it. In fact, I’m sure the necessary data to do it is already in place. The game just needs to determine the character is in combat, or is trying to use attack skills and ground targeting skills.

I would also like to suggest having a feature where the player is in first person while out of combat, and then will automatically zoom out when in battle to see the whole picture, like normal.

What this thread is not suggesting. It is not suggesting better animations on characters in first person mode. The easier something can be implemented, the easier it can be done.

Virtual reality is something that you will see more of. More and more people are grabbing their headsets and putting them on for gaming. Simple changes that make a difference, are very much welcome. Any developer who already understands how great Guild Wars 2 is, will appreciate it even more when going into virtual reality. The whole game comes alive, as if you are there. This is something worth getting into, and it’s not hard to support.

Virtual Reality support

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Loli Ruri.8307

Loli Ruri.8307

With an increase of VR headsets on the market, and the inevitable price decrease that I can see eventually happening as a market cries out for more affordability, will a game such as this support to at least a basic degree, virtual reality?

Now to make this thread more interactive, let’s discuss the different concepts of how to implement this game with the available technologies of VR.

My questions:

Will this continue to be a 3rd person game, or will there be 1st and 3rd person?
If 1st person, will there be any changes to the game mechanics of first person view? There should be no issues with using a headset tracking to move the camera’s view position.

Controls?
I could see how the wands on the HTC Vive could potentially be used as a part of this game, to not only use skills in the game, but also to control movement. Text in the game can be implemented via voice, as the Vive supports that feature. Or one could do what Ark Survival Evolved has done, where in-game voice is available. The possibility to use a keyboard is still available as I have already tried playing games with a keyboard and HTC Vive, and it worked just fine. I was already very familiar with the keyboard and knew exactly where the keys were to push.

Funding?
Apparently Valve is offering cash out to companies that want to expand out to virtual reality. This is to give incentive for developers to expand a new market that is already growing.

Immersive?
Already from experiencing the quality of virtual reality, I know that a title like this would hugely benefit from the player being in the game itself. I understand that there are a couple days for people to acquire their VR legs for games that don’t require you to move your physical legs, but that’s really a non-issue, as people including myself adapt internally to not get sick, and the sickness was minor actually. I suggest Ginger either as a drink, or a travel sickness pill, or ground up and sold at the super market. It’s really useful for getting your virtual reality legs, on those first couple days. After that, you won’t need it anymore and will be fine.

Room scale versus standing versus sitting?
I doubt this title could work in a full room scale tracking environment, and actually at this time discourage it. Not enough of the technologies are grabbing onto full room scale tracking. I recommend standing and sitting at this time. In fact this game will work just fine with either standing or sitting.

Feel free to discuss more.

Use GPU-Z in conjunction with the Windows Task Manager, and check the GPU Load versus the CPU Load, when doing those certain tasks. Your CPU and GPU will tell you on a graph, how the performance went. With that information, you will be one step closer on how to solve your problem. Look forward to your response here.

Got the feeling you may have to poke around a bit to find a working solution. May have to throw in ideas for troubleshooting. But for now, see what your hardware is doing with those 10 to 1 FPS situations.

This game relies on CPU performance. The only time I can see a better GPU being important for this game is, if you are using things like ReShade with MasterEffect, or SweetFX, or some other post-processing graphical app. These apps do not touch the game files, so are considered usually as harmless.

New computer, very low FPS -

Loli Ruri.8307

I just saw the picture that the OP left behind in the 1st post.

I can see the utilization of the GPU is not at full capacity. In fact it’s not being utilized much at all. The CPU on the other hand is not 100%, but it is up there high actually. When reviewing the spec of the OP’s CPU, I can see that the performance versus other CPU cores out there on the market, is not impressive at all. It looks like the bottleneck is the CPU.

https://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu.php?cpu=AMD+FX-4300+Quad-Core

But it’s a new computer. So replacing the parts now, would be um, not ideal at all. In fact, talking about his system not being good enough, could set in buyer’s remorse. The graphics card is fine by the way, no problems there; just the CPU sucks. Upside is, AMD hardware is usually cheap as chips, and the switch to Intel could be done, but that means spending some money. I suggest shopping second hand. But if you are buying a used Motherboard, I suggest the following. Make sure the CPU pins on the motherboard for mounting the CPU core, are not bent at all. This is really important!! If one is bent, the board may be completely useless, don’t buy. Ask why the person is no longer using the motherboard anymore. Use your brains here to determine if the person is being shady. Also if you find out how old the motherboard is, and even better if you could see the receipt of original purchase, even better. Before you settle on any particular motherboard, cpu, or ram, make sure the parts are compatible with each other, and make sure that the specs are descent enough. There is a good way of finding out if something will work with the games you want to play. Simply grab the name of the CPU, and youtube, or google. Reviewers will actually list how good the CPU performs versus certain titles, usually AAA games. This will give you a good idea on how the CPU will perform for what you want to do. Also to ensure the parts are compatible, easy to do by googling. But the simple way is, socket number on motherboard matches socket number for CPU. For ram, look up the motherboard’s manual and read at the section that says, supported RAM. If you are not sure, google or ask on a forum.

At least you have the assurance of knowing that there are logs, and although stuff ups happen, somebody will help you fix it. Just unlucky that out of literally thousands of players, you are the one out of that many that was unfortunate to have a problem.

I hope your next purchase is more enjoyable.

Motherboard dead? CPU dead? New PSU

in Players Helping Players

Something is short circuiting, probably.

If a new and first time use power supply fails to boot your computer, then it’s not a PSU issue.

Try cleaning your system, see if that helps.

The next step is to take something out. Start with the graphics card, test, memory, test, hard drives/SSD, test, fans, test, peripherals, test. Just keep trying, and make sure you are patient with each step and think through each action.

If none of that works, you could try resetting the CMOS. Maybe that could be an issue. As funny as that sounds, maybe there’s a glitch that is magically causing the system to power off.

If your power supply is one of those ones that requires you to change it’s mode from 110 volts to 240 volts, make sure it’s for the appropriate voltage. It could be powering off for that reason. Cheap power supplies have a manual switch, whereas better models do this automatically.

You could also try using a different power cable, or even a different wall socket somewhere else in the house, in case that’s the problem.

If after all of that, it’s either the motherboard or CPU. But all seems to be pointing towards a short circuit. You need to figure it out by trial and error. Just know what you are doing when poking around your machine.

Which version of the AMD A10?
7850K?
7860K?

I can assume that it’s the AMD A10-7860K as the 7850K is unavailable in some stores such as newegg.

When I compared this chip to the Devil’s Canyon Intel Core i7 4790K, I found that the AMD A-10-7860K to be a reasonable CPU for gaming that is a great bang for your dollar. It will handle this game just fine to be honest.

The difference between the two is that the Devil’s Canyon has a smaller Lithography, more transistors, and a bigger cache for processing data. But looking at the results, the difference is only a small one. Both processors can do gaming very well. If I was doing a computer on the cheaper budget, your CPU is a good choice. Bang for dollar, your chip is a clear winner.

8 GB RAM is the recommended level for gaming these days. In fact there are games coming out on market that really need 16 gigs. But this game is not one of them. You are fine.

AMD’s Integrated graphics makes the Intel Integrated look like a child. Clearly yours has an advantage, and sites such as CPUBoss agree. Since this is a game where the CPU is the power house that decides the quality of the game, more than likely you will be able to play just fine, maybe even in boss battles and such. But if you see you are having issues, because if there is one, it might be the lack of a dedicated graphics card, it wouldn’t be hard to pick up a graphics card on the cheap in the second hand market, or look at the budget cards available as well. Just make sure you are not exceeding the capacity of your power supply.

Happy gaming! Looking forward to what others have to say as well.

I use the Noctua NH-U14S for my Intel Core i7 4790K. Doing 4.5 GHz at around 60c on normal days. Works perfectly fine, mounted really easily, has plenty of clearance over high profile RAM, and easy to mount 120mm to 140mm fans onto it, and easy to use clamps to hold down the fans to the air cooler. However if you use the 140mm fans, you need to use ones that have 120mm holes. If you look up the product, you will know what I mean. Lemme see if I can get a picture for you.

I reinstalled windows, still doesn’t run. And yeah I already tried those things Healix. ONly one I have not tried is -windowed. Let’s see. It didn’t work.

Keep in mind, when I reinstalled windows, I nuked the computer by formatting and then using an ISO image to install a new copy of windows 10 onto the laptop.

No.
It would load up the EXE, but not make any progress to start. It would just idle in the Task Manager.

I have decided to take up the advice online, to reinstall the laptop’s operating system. All the other suggestions to fix it did not work. The computer refused to let the game work. I’m actually quite computer savvy, and yet I was baffled at how much trolling Guild Wars 2 was doing.

Should I buy a second GPU for Crossfire?

Might be a good read. :o
But that’s 2012. Now is 2016. From what I do know is, this game benefits more from CPU performance more than GPU performance. This is true when considering my desktop versus my laptop. My desktop has the following stats:

Intel Core i7 4790K @4.5 GHz
Nvidia MSI GTX 980 Ti Lightning @1516 / 8002 (x4) MHz (core / memory clock)

My laptop has:

Intel Core i7 4510U @2.8 GHz boost during GW2.
Nvidia 840M

Looking at the difference between the 980 Ti versus the 840M, huge difference. And yet the game runs fine on both setups. Well I would say fine, until a Windows update killed the game on my laptop. :U

GPU performance helps in boss battles, otherwise you’re better off shopping for a more powerful CPU. Then again you did mention i5-6600K @4.4~4.6 GHz.

If you still want to do it, consider if it’s better to get a more powerful card later, or invest now in a second card. There are problems with having a second card, so just weigh that up. Youtube the pros and cons of Crossfire and SLI.

Either some GM hates you, or some kind of automation is happening. More than likely there’s an automation happening. I wonder what would happen if you logged into another account. Would that one also get banned? Maybe your IP address is flagged for banning. Considering how a person can just change their IP address with their ISP, anybody else with that IP address would also get banned? Well played~

The game fails to boot. Reinstalling didn’t do anything. Repair didn’t work. Reinstalling drivers don’t fix the problem. So the only option left is to reinstall Windows. Unless somebody else has some brilliant suggestions. :o

What Olli said is true. You won’t find thermals to be a problem in a home use environment. Unless you are doing commercial applications in a house, otherwise no.

Must say, I have actually seen benefits to using a M.2 SSD in my computer as well, where not only loading maps is a benefit hugely, but also when turning the camera, there is no issue of screen freezing as new resources are loaded in. This is from my experiences.

It’s not missing 1 queue that gave you 72 hours. You have something else going on, and this was the last straw saying you need a break.

That or a bug. Anyways, I don’t even know if you play PvP as much as he does. And PvE only gives you so much for a while before you get bored.
