I would suggest moving the nvid control settings to either off, low, or performance. Start game, feel how it is, then if it’s good, try upping some settings, restart game, see how it goes.

Your account is supposed to represent you. So if something goes wrong because of somebody else being on your account, you’re screwed, because the account is you. However this is different where it can be seen by Anet in logs that somebody hijacked your account, stole all your stuff, then started advertising RMT.

Funny thing is, when Anet bans via IP address, and thus several people can get banned for one person’s stupidity. This would be where it’d be important to convince customer support that you are not the same person. Not sure how tho. You would think obviously that it’d have to be severe to require an IP ban to be used. Reminds me of when a RMT seller/botter started using a W.TFast server in Germany to do his activities, and then everybody on that IP address got banned, along with the offending user. It was fixed later tho. https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/2x5x9y/apparantly_alot_of_gw2_players_just_got_banned_by/

You still can upgrade graphics later. I think your PC is set to rock and roll for at least 5 more years, and be relevant. Just might want to eventually go with better graphic card options when they come out. Although I did read about how super computers are going the direction of NV-Link for Nvidia cards, where the link goes between cards, and the CPU. No more PCI-Express lane reliance for communication between CPU and GPU, but rather the NV-Link, which has a much much higher data transfer speeds and bandwidth. I wouldn’t be surprised if this tech rolled out in a few more years to consumers.

Try to get a Clevo custom built laptop. If in the US these will be Sagers. Best bang for your buck but you will be looking at £1000 (uk currency) to get something decent. Atm there is a major problem with GW2 and Nvidia mobile gpus on Windows 10 at least however so i would avoid buying one at all until Anet manages to a) acknowledge and b) fix this. (texture corruption, map hanging)

Can’t be an issue with all mobile Nvidia GPU systems. My 840M on my HP Edge is working fine with GW2. Yes, max settings.

You need something with at least an i3 processor to play this game on a laptop.

I was thinking at least i5.
Of course I love the performance gained with an i7, so I only buy those these days, worth the extra few bucks to spend on the investment.

So you bought an overclocking CPU, and then got a motherboard that is incapable of overclocking?

Okay. o.o’

SSD will not help in any form on this game apart from loading times between maps.

Nope not quite true, because if you turn the camera to things that were not loaded in, it will stall the game until it loads in. An SSD removes that.

HDD: 1TB or bigger if you can afford it. (SSD’s are not worth the money IHO, sure the PC will boot faster, But a good HHD will boot almost as fast. I really don’t see the cost benefits for a few seconds faster load times)

Um, faster map loading, able to spin around without the game freezing to load in resources. Having the computer start up faster is more desirable than you might think. I went from your thinking to now, because I have been on both sides of the fence. Also prices of an SSD these days has gone way down, and affording one is reasonable. If not now to afford, can later on, then mirror over the OS to the new drive.

Your CPU is a 3570K running at 3.4 GHz?

It’s K for overclocking, why is it only 3.4 GHz? This game does better with higher single core performance, so overclocking that beast is ideal. Just make sure you are using an aftermarket cooling solution first before you overclock, and research, research, and more research, on how to overclock. There are websites dedicated to overclocking your CPU.

Your graphics card has a bigger memory bus than my 980 Ti. But I got more shader cores tho. Honestly, your card is hardcore gaming ready imo. Rock on!

Do you have an SSD with that rig?

Hmm, Your card should have enough vram.

The problem is the memory bandwith of your vram. 25.6 GB/s is quite small in comparison to what a MSI GTX 980 Ti Lightning card can push out at 384.4 GB/s. 128 Bit memory bus versus 384 Bit on the same card I have again. Texture rate is a bit low too on your card. Basically as I keep comparing the specs between your card and mine, I feel as if yours is very much lacking, and is bottlenecking your computer. Your CPU is great btw, keep that one.

You have windows 8.1 pro, and yet didn’t upgrade to 10?
Windows 10 offers better thread optimizations. Not only that, but feels much better as an OS.

CPU is fine.
Motherboard should be fine.
I wouldn’t worry too much about the ram, as faster ram has more loose timings, and slower ram has tighter timings, they even out.
That SSD baby is where you are getting nice performance, along with the CPU.
That’s a sweet graphics card there, R9 380 with 4 gig of vram. It’s not a 980 Ti, but it does hold it’s own. You don’t really need higher than 30 fps in the capital city, as you are not doing any fast action speedy game play that requires a slice of a second response time to live or die.

I am assuming you have GW2 on the SSD? Why would you have it on anything else? XD

Your friend couldn’t play the game or couldn’t buy gems? The first seems odd; the second is credit card protection.

Sounds like a disaster to me. You get punished for supporting the game. LOL
Honestly doubt they’d suspend the player from playing the game itself for 72 hours for buying gems and converting them to gold, unless of course the person was false positive detected as some kind of bot gold crap. It is possible with stuff ups.

I am betting it is suspended from using credit card payments for 72 hours to protect Anet from credit card fraud, where a chargeback is requested after receiving paid items. Think about that, buy a huge pile of gold, sell it for real money to another player, then charge back. People already do this with copies of the game. That’s why you only buy a copy of the game from a Anet verified seller.

You need a piece of software called CCleaner, and then go to the registry tab like shown in the picture below, and scan and fix the registry issues. It will ask if you wish to back up your registry before fixing.

http://i65.tinypic.com/5am2wy.png

Happy gaming!

Also the problem seems to be involved with the DirectX drivers, not the drivers themself, but the registry related to it in Windows. You could also fix this by uninstalling the dx drivers and then installing new ones. This would write new registry values.

Quadro cards are really expensive. X _x
Dunno what else to suggest, except maybe turning off certain settings with Nvidia Control Panel.

This is like putting up permanent advertisement on the school’s blackboards, advertising cruise ships to Hawaii, when the audience looking at it trying to get on with school, is 6th grade and under. Only beneficial audience of something like that is the teachers. It’s more of a nuisance to trying to get on with what they are there for, than any beneficial advertisement, and it doesn’t go away.

Just trying to illustrate it. :U

I am using 2 2560×1440 monitors in AMD eyefinity for a total resolution of 5120×1440.

Two monitors? How’s that working out for ya (well, with the exception it doesn’t at the moment). Where’s your character at when only using two monitors?

You talking about where it is on the screen? Well you actually can move the camera to the left or right of the character using a slider in options.

1) That’s like people saying. What legalizing gay marriage, this will lead to legalizing marriage between family members or between a human and animals. Are you pro bestiality? Then don’t legalize gay marriage. Same kitten here. Don’t make an easy mode, because then people will ask for something else, and then ask for another thing and if anet do all those things, then TERRIBLE CONSEQUENCE.

Whoa, that illustration was intense. One that I have even thought about myself, but at least I didn’t say it in public. That’s a touche subject, ready made with explosive barrels of hate.

I would welcome a normal mode, as it would prepare people for what the elite mode offers, without offering the same elite rewards.

Overkill much.
Hardware would not be a limiting factor. If you can afford, go right ahead.
