honestly ima put my 2 cents into this . i recently went BS build for spvp and my god the players ive went up against dnt even try and react after they get hit by BS its like they just give up. now around 8 pm last night i went into a match and 1v1 a warrior. this guy actually knew wat he was doing. he didnt just mash his skill he was actually using different weapon sets i gotta say it was pretty fun he won ofcourse cuz of my squishy thief but the point was he reacted to my BS not just sit thier like a dumb kitten rock.

ive watched sum pvp vids of some thiefs pvping with BS build in WvW and i gotta say some players reaction time sucks so bad. its like they sit thier for 2 seconds before they even do anything >.>

wat is the hidden thief trait o.o

just saying ive tried warrior till 50 it was pretty dull. deleted it to make room for my ranger x.x lol.

@Kraven u do realize warrior is like the most boring class to pve with right pose no challenge i would like a challenge this is why im rolling a thief.

i run a 0/0/20/20/30 on my thief its working out pretty great with undead runes and carrion amulet for spvp pretty freakin funny how i almost never get killed tho i kno sum ppl are like GOD why isnt she dead already :P

now this is wat gives me hope cuz right now im lvling my newly made thief that video was epic especially in the first part where u pretty ,much 3v1 that group while staying in melee range epic xD

yea i admit that too on group support thiefs are poorly lacking in that area but. that pretty much sums up the class is a solo. class it can be equally effective in groups aswell because of shadow refuge and other stealth skills that stealth ur group members aswell so u can get that chance if they are downed to heal them or need a quick break

well i found a good build on this forums thief does pve and pvp and he said it works well with his condition build i actually use his build in spvp it does wonders for escaping and stacking those bleeds

@Kizee idk man my friend john he has a 80 thief and all he does is pve he hasnt even pvped or WvW at all so. he says he is doing just fine farming and doing dungeons… thats why im a little questionable about ur statement and aswell that u cnt compare a guardian to a thief.. come on look at that class compared to it. u have like the best armor in the game ofcourse u can plow through mobs without much of a problem.

as for the nerf ive been reading most posts on how they say backstab is OP u need to nerf it anet blah blah blah

ok now. let me mind some of u guys that the people who are complaining about this skill bieng OP is a glass cannon themselves? or from wat ive seen. now we all kno if u go glass cannon u have no barely any armor so ur asking to be killed in a matter of seconds. i had one post that one guy was comparing a glass cannon ele to a glass cannon thief and he said he got killed in 2 seconds well BUT OF COURSE ur a glass cannon ELE DUH LOL plus ur wearing light armor come on man thts just a bad way to connect the 2 x.x ur just asking to be killed by any class..

alright then w.e on that xD but yea as for warrior people told me to go that path if i wanted sum solid pve.. but ive done warrior and boy was it boring as hell.. all u do is the same skills over and over.. like i really dnt wanna be doing that constantly. untill lvl 80 thats basically why i choose thief i like the way the class works the mechanics is pretty good

and pretty much things go for backstab.. tbh i never use it.. like never.. to kill some 1 idk its just i never needed. it i see sum players talking about if it gets nerfed thier goona quit.. like so wat happens if all that hard work u put into ur thief all that blood sweat and tears xD lol i dont care if they do nerf it wont effect me cuz ive rarely used it.

hmm about his unload damage he probably does tht much.. cuz if ur power prec and toughness u can put out 9k damage an unload i was literally doing almost as much in pvp about 7k to 8.3k damage glass cannon ofcourse was funny as hell downing eles and warriors. as those are the classes. ive been pvping with for the last 5 days >.>

ok good thanks guys for the feedback cuz from what ive been reading from other posts they make it seem like thief is completely unplayable for pve wise. but this gave me sum hope as i start lvling my thief for real tomorrow ^^

just asking a question i like thief and how it works but in terms of pve? ive been hearing that thief isnt so good like oh say actual farming or farming in orr? but wat my question is any thiefs out thier actually have good success >? or should i roll a guardian for just all around farming dungeons and WvW?

just want sum feedback starting a thief and i really wanna get into it so i can get it to lvl 80 its lvl 6 right now i know its pretty low but like lvling up wise is it easier to kill things or do thiefs just not a class to go if u want to pve x.x?

lookin for a good solid build to use for spvp and tpvp still kinda new here i run with D/D and P/P sometimes shortbow depends on the stage we are at if anyone has a good build to run with plz post it i thank u ^^

yea i wanna try this cuz i havnt really been killing many players lately with shortbow so time for a change and ive seen sum vids of this build and it like wrecks x.x question tho? why take 5 into pet traits for ?

hmm ranger pets are fine imo and pretty much pve wise they keep me alive so im thankful anet even put pets for the ranger as for my other classes i have lmao i wish i had a pet to tank for me and take damage while i just destroy hordes of mobs with barrage xD

does anyone have a ranger condition build for shortbow and runes and trait set up i should use ? i wanna try it out

lol yes the title is wierd but really wtf is wrong with me in pve i can do fine switching from attunement to attunement in the heat of battle but when i enter pvp. its like i choke lmao. i dunno why this hasnt happened with me with ranger or thief for sum reason idk wats wrong maybe im not cut out for spvp. maybe itll be just wvw for me now x.x

yea kessex and gend fields is kinda like ghost town literally. queensdale is ok. but less exp from events thier.

well i wouldnt use staff as main weapon u should use that as ur secondary tbh and aswell for ur main weapons use scepter/dagger its like verry burst damage at lvl 20 i was literally hitting 1ks. so easily i was going power prec condition event tho it may seem like ur squishy at times aslong as u can dodge and keep ur distance u can take out a mob before it even touches ur hp. umm wat i went first was 10 in fire trait. then i went another 10 in earth for tht armor skill forgot wat its called when u get a certain low on ur hp it activates. but yea anything else is ur choice after that

ive been playing thief for a bit now and i gotta say i rarely. use backstab and still i get kills like crazy like it isnt really hard. tbh maybe in wvw. without it mite seem kinda ok we suck but in spvp ive been doing pretty kitten fine without it and still getting kills so all this crazyness going on in this forum when u guys kno ur goona get tht big Ol nerf hammer soon just deal with it and find another way to make ur thief better to overcome it and show people how good u really are ^^

now that im pretty much done reading every comment look wat ur comparing urself too as an ele. pretty much said GLASS CANNON ele. ofcourse ur goona get hit with high damage pretty lmao u barely have any toughness or vit. ur goona die quick whether u like it or not imo tht pretty much goes with any class tht goes glass cannon ur loosing survivability for pure damage >.>

use both longbow and shortbow for ur second set just eithier try axe/warhorn or axe/ torch ORRR sword/torch ur choice all viable tbh

well i understand but in queensdale they were pretty much up 90% of the time idk why people was bieng lazy and not going thier i think the mechanic behind opening the doors was to do all the events at one time in which queensdale had that down packed becuz 1 mostly bots and 2. lvl 80s stay thier just for the doors as to kessex and genderin fields thiers not enough people to properly do those events in a timely manner and i kno this becuz kessex and Gend i stayed in constantly for the halloween events only literally a max of 12 ppl on tht map. doing events. its just not enough compared to like 50+ on queensdale. or even more. but hey like u said safter today yea its gone but i logged on thinking ima get to do those events for this last day and i see this little update lol

xD ranger is a great class imo just other people dnt see it that way sadly lol

im really kinda lets just say pissed atm becuz anet decides to leave mad king doors open ok so wat about us players that enjoy the dynamic events from the halloween event wat happens to those? cuz as i see now thier no longer a factor since its pointless and the doors are open i really like to see those events come back tbh just becuz some 1 complains about doors not bieng in a certain map or place they can just go to queensdale the only reason it wasnt in kessex or any other map is because thier wasnt enough people in that map to do them as fast as queensdale does. so this little update was kinda pointless just wanna put my 2 cents in. OH

and aswell ive must have told literally 100 players that thier opened constantly in queensdale still yet wat they do ? complain like little babies. and told them as to why the doors wasnt opening in kessex or the other maps.. x.x

^^ like nldixon says ppl make it out to be such a broken or bad class and that goes for any class really but its not ranger is verry much fun and im lvling up like its nothing xD

ima be honest i just started a ranger and its going like really great like REALLY great its better than my mesmer guardian and warrior put into one thts just imo. I like barely ever take damage cuz my pet pretty much takes on all the monsters by hiself while i just dps them away and aswell my damage is pretty nice atm unlike my mesmer really not that much of a PVE class than it is as it excells in pvp anyway and ima be honest with u again every class forum has bad things to say about thier class period point blank they over exaggerate on alot of wat they say making the class seem BROKEN as one would say the class isnt broken its verry playable its just sum things need sum serious fixing im not goona lie about that but i would give ranger a try if u dont really have fun anymore on ur other characters. just remember all classes have thier bugs all have thier flaws and strengths its just all comes down to the PLAYER not really the class any class can be great in the hands of a great player ^^

so ive been to like most of the class forums and i just started my ranger last nite but yet when i come here i see like no ranger vids of pvp or pve ? wats up with tht i wanna kno how engame is like and so on maybe thier are vids of pvp pve here in this forum idk maybe if some 1 can link it to me that will be great xD

currently finding trouble getting money for my ranger she is lvl 10 but i do have a 40 mesmer which is fun and all but i did go broke on her aswell didnt have enough cash to even get the 40 traits …. so if anyone can help for a decent way to make sum cash really need to make about 2 to 4gold plz help if u can

as my topic says im pretty dang lost with this class tbh i tried it at the mists just to see u kno like the skills and stuff how much damage they do and it was pretty cool how they have this much to use and have access to im currently looking for a well rounded class for both pve and pvp comming from mesmer i really dnt like how it is in pve atm its really boring and barely any damage output even glass cannon i still felt like i did nothing in events but still tagged mobs so i turned to one of my engineer friends and he said it was pretty fun class and he mains it so i thought id try it out if some 1 can explain which weapon sets to lvl up aswell as a build to go with when i get into my traits at 11 would help a bit. the only really problem i had was with the grenade kit HOW do u even move when using ur skills xD or do u not move? idk but it was pretty kitten hard xD

hmm i use GS and staff tbh and it works great. i run a 20/0/20/30 pretty kitten good if i say so myself i have no problem with solo pve and my gears i run power prec and condition works wonders acessorys i just stick to vit tough and power and im doing pretty fine

hmm ive never had a problem in the events tagging mobs at all and i run with GS/Staff get full credit and lots of loot. even with like 20 ppl thier still i get my share. when tht mob spawns freakin switch to staff and cast chaos field x.x then spawn a few clones mind wrack and switch to GS and spam ur skills on the mobs works for me everytime x.x

yea i do the same tbh when im doing like monster events and stuff i tend to always clone spam and use chaos storm as much as i can i mite try ur trait build tho seems pretty decent cuz i would definitly like to survive aswell lmao im lvl 16 now almost outta queensdale so it mite be good

i have one more question tho as for like the Staff wat should i really go for power or condition damage o.o?

well yea i still use staff for sum events but like as a main weapon meh GS for me like to kill those suckers quick before they do damage

alright just saying for now im running with a GS and Staff but later from wat ive been reading might go Sword/Sword seeying as the staff got kinda nerfed apparently for damage x.x
