Doubt there will be very much WvW tonight considering the long-awaited premiere of the top summer movie is this very evening. I’ve gotten about 17 invites to viewing parties but only one of those people has a TV bigger than me and their toilet water is blue so that’s definitely a “no-go”. I’m sure most of the server, and the country for that matter, will be munching on popcorn with friends and family while this much-anticipated story unfolds on the small screen just minutes from now. Sci-Fi channel at 9pm eastern (but you already knew that!)…

This has been a fun old match up but I have to say I’m disappointed with the scoring system in this game.

To break it down.

Sos – Rank 7 (4 Ranks higher than CD)
CD Rank – 11
SBI Rank 14 (3 Ranks lower than CD)

CD is +40k from SBI at the moment and only -35k from SoS……..Yet we are still loosing evo points for this? How does it make sense that we are just about keeping up with a server 4 ranks higher and out pacing a server 3 ranks lower but still loosing evo points from that?

How does that make sense? I’m not arguing SBI getting + Evo points since they are lower ranked but how is CD still loosing points when at this point we are doing pretty good?

(If anyone has a good link on how the evo points and whatnot work since the last time they updated it would be much apprecited)

This is happening because they’re using a stupid chess ranking system for an MMO.

LOL now why would the smaller server and the bigger server want to focus down on the mid server? Shouldn’t it be SBI and CD focusing down on SoS?

Also, I never refuge unless I absolutely have to. So I was more than likely low on initiative or needed that stealth to regen from something. The majority of the refuge’s were trying to res the necro I was originally with for the first 40 minutes or so. Don’t get me confused either with the other thief that joined me for the last hour or so after my necro friend left. I 1v1ed or 1vXed every person in there from that GS ranger, all the mesmers, the guardians, and the warriors.

Your efforts to defend yourself and your guild are as a terrible as the performance in the puzzle. You have nothing more than LOLYOUREFUGEDASATHIEF. Terrible.

I was not with the 9 below, because I was at the top watching. And that screenshot you have, merely shows 9 people infront of you, I don’t see any dead bodies, and if you killed so many, wouldn’t we have came at you at the spawn? I know what I saw, and you know what you did, just a thief running around from the dome area, to the spawn point. Paint a beautiful picture of yourself all you want, it only makes you look silly. Btw, I main a thief, I really LMAO when you used the SR in the middle of no where and ran away from a hopeless guardian.

You really are that dense aren’t you? That group did come from the spawn point. Shortly after I respawned from my one death, my friend and I picked off a few random SBI and CD. At that point that group that initially killed me ended up at the spawn. The mesmer’s pulled us down and it ended up with you guys killing my friend and me getting away. This fight happened down the first set of stairs from the spawn. At which point, I killed a few randoms that managed to separate themselves looking for me while that large group sat and waited for a port. That’s where the SS came in.

By the way, I only roamed around the dome area because my friend got pulled off the edge by temporal curtain near the fire trap at the end. I jumped down to assist. With how many of you there were running around, making it back to the traps would have been a waste of time. I am really glad that you called your guardian hopeless though. I couldn’t help but think the same thing as I rez’d the necro I was originally with twice under his feet.

What I don’t understand is how you automatically attribute me using stealth as running. I don’t write in a diary each time I use SR and why, but like I said before, I only use it when I need it so it was more than likely to allow me to reset myself. It doesn’t matter though, really. At some point you probably died to me, and based on who seemed the most adamant on killing me I’d place my bets on you being that kittenty ranger. Could be wrong though.

And who is this Jakob guy that is so famous? I haven’t heard of him on the forums, in game, or anywhere for that matter and I played your server for over a month straight and roamed everyday. So famous he has to be proclaimed by some other nobody from a nobody server. Jakob that one famous “Crystal Desert Invader.”

I have a quick question to sbi server. Why do you guys always try for sm or defend it with basically all your forces when bp tends to always own your borderlands? Having sm gains you 35 points but if you don’t own your own borderland then you lose like 100+ points. I don’t see your guys’ logic.

Server ranking is very much based on how many people on the server play WvW. It does not matter how much skill you have if an opponent can fill all the maps 24/7 and you can’t do the same, which is generally what occurs with the tiers above 4 from what I understand. It also sucks hard if you don’t have a large Australian/Asian player base but your opponent does, because this means at 3 AM all your stuff is getting PvDoored and made wood overnight, forcing you to spend the morning clawing back, and the evening upgrading only to have it happen all over again after you go to bed.

Incidentally, there is still no reason for SBI to be losing this match. Yet they still insist on sending 70 Man zombie hordes against the 10-15 people we got in Eternal while their Borderlands is left to the tender mercies of our skill groups.

You just illustrated the reason why SBI is now losing the match. We have a lot of primetime and weekend players. We did very well over the weekend and now our coverage gaps are coming into play. Right now you’re ticking 360 to our 135 because you have more people playing right now than we do. It’s not a knock against you guys or even an excuse for us, it’s just the way the game is played.

It doesn’t really matter what happens in primetime, there are more off-peak hours in the day. We could literally run the table before midnight every night but be unable to defend anything an hour or two later. Most of us go to bed then go to work the next day. You’ve got good coverage, enjoy it.

This is simply not true. BP does not have better coverage then NSP. We are just better at managing our forces.

Waypointing Hills isn’t a cause, it’s a effect. The work week started so you were able to waltz into just about any of our holdings and do whatever you wanted. Taking Hills wasn’t a turning point, the turning point happened much earlier and resulted in you being able to take Hills.

Just wanted to say, the fight at SBI hills today was hilarious.
Not only did we hold outer for 1hour+ but lords room for about 25+ minutes with 15 people against 40 SBI, i must say, if i were the commander of that SBI zerg, i’d be badly ashamed of myself. Your first push cleared all our siege and npc’s in lords, but you whiped half the zerg, the second time we held you off with simple combat against those huge odds for another 20 minutes, all tho you did cap it at the end, i wouldn’t have been very happy with that performance..
However, so proud of the BP who were their and defended, was amazing.

We would have kept it if it weren’t for the zoom-hacking elementalists from SBI who cleared the tons of siege we had set up. I have screenshots but don’t see the point in posting them.

Last time we had someone cheating via multiboxing. EVERYONE in map chat gave him kitten and reported all his accounts. Its been 2-3 months since we’ve seen anywhere.

Anyone “Zoom Hacking” should be banned with proper proof. So post it.

I won a 1vs30 last night (BP had the 30). I’ve made 200g this week in pvp playing 2 hours a night (took Sunday off – Dexter) and I’ve seen BP cheating at least 73 times.

Not quite. SBI NA moved to JQ. They followed our NA leaders SF. SBI Asian went SoR. Both choices were made to bolster the weakness of both servers respectively to create more balanced WvW.

WM and the people they carried moved with them.

But that is not why SoR rose. They rose because they stuck together better than we did. When the going was rough, they stuck it out. SoR had our SBI mentality of “Never Give Up, Never Die” attitude better than us.

We cracked when free transfers ended. They did not.

It also helped that they have a Leader Indo [TW] that gives inspiring speeches on TS during each reset night meeting. I’ve heard his speeches before and they will move you.

I am so tired of reading your bullkitten posts Yulo, you have no kittening idea how annoying you are.

We didn’t “crack” when free transfers ended, there were only 20-30 of us left. And we fought every kittening night against ridiculous odds. And we kittening won a ton of fights.

The bottom line on SBI’s free transfers is that the people who didn’t have the stomach for fighting the tough fights left. They took the easier path, THEY’RE THE ONES WHO CRACKED.

If you want to be the official SBI cheerleader that’s fine. Some people are easily swayed by paraphrased Braveheart lines so I guess we need someone to do that. Just keep your accusations to yourself.

Hold our thirds? You have no concept of just how outmanned (and disorganized) we are right now. Look at the map at the moment. We are off EB totally and have 1 tower on our BL. That’s all we can do! Thirds?!?! That’s not even possible if one of you (SBI or BP) wants to take something from us.

Yeah you’re not gonna be able to hold your thirds, we sure as hell didn’t when we were losing people left and right. I remember one match where SoR had a waypoint in our EB keep on reset night and kept it the entire week. We could barely get enough people for a breakout event in EB and any time we ventured outside the spawn we’d end up fighting 60-70 people (with our 10 guys and the breakout npc).

But, a few of us kept going out every night and fighting against those ridiculous numbers and even won a lot of fights when it was anywhere close to even numbers. More people started to venture out into WvW and eventually our numbers grew, we got some better matchups and things sort of stabilized for us. It took the better part of 6 months and we lost a lot of good people to the attrition of fighting uphill every night of every matchup but we’re in a decent place now. There’s plenty of room for improvement but the free fall does come to a stop eventually.

So we already know what it’s like…

Perhaps you could provide us with a time window when you consider legitimate if you are beaten given that 10pm on Friday and 3pm on Sat are apparently SBI down times, perhaps 7:18-7:27 on Wed would work or does that conflict with Zumba class?

Can’t say what I was doing at 10pm on Friday (probably just finishing dinner to be honest) but I do know that around 11pm we were wiping the floor with you guys (repeatedly) in EB and ticking 300…

So the folks on SBI that are claiming everyone had gone to bed and you were outmanned are full of it then?

We do, in fact, go to bed here on SBI. It usually happens when we’re tired of picking up loot bags. After NA primetime it’s not uncommon to have the outmanned buff here on SBI. Since I play during NA primetime I don’t have to deal with that circumstance very often.

However, I doubt anyone has said we were outmanned in EB during NA primetime. I don’t doubt for a second that we were outmanned on any other map at any time of the day, that’s just the way it goes around here.

By the way, do you have to have a giant stick up your kitten to play on BP or is that just a suggestion?

1) People were complaining earlier in this thread that 10pm-midnight on Friday night was too late for you guys.

They need to limit the numbers in WvW to eliminate skill lag, not balance the numbers on each side

To SBI folks – Did one of you report that last week when we were paired w/ IoJ you queued all 4 maps on reset? I ask because I tend to see 2 different SBIs. I see the hordes version where you have numbers that we can’t comprehend, and I see the other version where it seems WvW isn’t really important to you and you just don’t show up. Mind you I’m talking NA prime time, so I’m not comparing NA prime to EU prime. Just curious because AR can, at best, queue ONE map, and even that is quite rare, yet I see posts from SBI folks about not having the numbers. Very bi-polar.

Reset was basically map completion night for the majority of people that queued.

What you have to realize is that many of us, particularly the people who generally queue EB, don’t really watch the scoreboard. We log in to run around and kill people. We take towers and SM to generate fights. Then we all log out at basically the same time and pick it up again the next night, or not. We don’t take towers and supply camps right before the tick because we honestly don’t give a kitten about the tick.

That’s not to say that we have a defeatist attitude, we don’t. We’ve just come to realize that open field fighting is more fun for us than sieging map resources. The only thing you win in WvW is bragging rights about how many people on the other side of the world play on your server. It’s not much of a prize.

There are some people on SBI who are very dedicated to playing for points and winning the matchup but they are few and far between. That sort of playstyle has never really suited me, I simply don’t see any fun in it. However, we do manage to generate points when we’re looking for fights so it works out in the end. It’s just not a priority to be out there every single night.

My only comment so far is that this BP guy is really ugly…

The end result of the current system is that all server ratings will be closer. In general the very high and very low rated servers will move towards the middle no matter what. The random matchups will eventually ensure this. The spread from top to bottom will compress significantly. I’m not sure what the actual intent of this change is since JQ will still have a ton of players and Eredon Terrace will not yet the chances of those two servers meeting in a matchup will generally increase every week.

Being green this week has definitely brought out some new players to WvW on SBI. At any given moment 25% of our force is off chasing something shiny or taking supply from a tower or supply camp in need of an upgrade. Our gameplay overall is pretty sloppy this week.

It’s odd being in a close match. It’s also uncommon for us to be green. I think we’ve all gotten accustomed to being severely outnumbered (vs. SoS, DB, Mag, TC, SoR, etc.). In matches like that our only recourse has been to smash those people in open field zerg on zerg battles (at least in EB, I rarely play on the BLs). We’ve gotten pretty good at large scale zerg busting, it’s basically all most of us want to do.

We haven’t had to watch the scoreboard for as long as I can remember. I don’t recall a matchup in the past 6 months (at least) that hasn’t been decided within 12-24 hours of reset (or even before the match started in many, many cases). We aren’t in the habit of playing for points and it shows.

All that being said, I doubt the competitiveness of this matchup will have much of an effect on how we play. We are a militia server that has found a way to have fun in any kind of matchup. Most of us would rather smash a bunch of players in the middle of a road somewhere than beat down a door or kill a keep lord. That kind of gameplay won’t do us any favors with the scoreboard but we haven’t cared about the scoreboard all year, why start now?
